  • Maya Rudolph Would Love to Return to 'SNL' as Kamala Harris After Democratic VP Announcement

    NBC

The former ‘Saturday Night Live’ regular is shocked to discover the politician she used to impersonate on the sketch show has been chosen by Joe Biden as his running mate.
    Aug 13, 2020
AceShowbiz – Maya Rudolph was stunned by the news that Senator Kamala Harris, who she famously portrays on “Saturday Night Live”, is Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden’s pick for vice president.
Rudolph is nominated for the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series Emmy for her performance as the congresswoman on the iconic sketch show, and she reacted to the news during the recording of a panel discussion with Entertainment Weekly and other Emmy nominees, including Angela Bassett and Wanda Sykes.
“Oh s**t,” Rudolph exclaimed on hearing the news.
“Somebody’s gonna be very busy now,” Sykes teased, predicting Rudolph’s return to “SNL”. “Ruh-roh,” Rudolph responded, before going on to discuss whether she will reprise her turn as Harris.
“I love going to the show. Any excuse I can get, I love. I just didn’t really anticipate travelling during a pandemic, but if there’s anyone that can work it out I’m sure Lorne (Michaels, SNL creator) has some sort of invisible helicopter that can get me there,” she joked.
“Ever since I was a kid, truly, I wanted to be on any kind of SCTV, Saturday Night Live, and I can’t believe that I got to work there, and I can’t believe that it’s my family still.”
She continued, “I’m so thrilled to even be associated with the show and that I got to go back. It’s like the gift that keeps on giving. Honestly, it’s my favourite place to play.”
Overwhelmed by the news, Rudolph added, “I’m as surprised as you are, guys. That’s spicy.”
“I don’t know that I’m ready to go right this minute, but it’s so nice to have this nomination be associated with the show because it’s my true love.”

  • Ozzy Osbourne's Upcoming Biopic Will Be R-Rated for Adults Only

    WENN

According to the matriarch Sharon Osbourne, the upcoming movie about the life and career of her rocker husband will be nothing like the ‘clean’ Queen biopic.
    Aug 13, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ozzy Osbourne’s upcoming biopic will be for adults only.
The rocker’s manager wife, Sharon, who is helping to develop the film with the couple’s son, Jack, reveals the project will be R-rated, because no one wants to water down the former Black Sabbath star’s crazy life.
“It’s not like any other story,” she says. “It’s not like, ‘rock & roll, crazy, and now I’m a granddad!’ It’s so much more than that.”
Sharon insists Ozzy’s biopic will be nothing like “Bohemian Rhapsody”, which chronicled the lives of Freddie Mercury and his Queen bandmates.
“I get why they did that, because it was for a younger generation,” she says. “It was squeaky clean… and it turned a whole generation onto Queen’s music that had never heard (it) before. So with that, it was phenomenal. But I don’t think it was a great movie… It was made ‘nice’ and that’s what made it a (Christian TV network) Hallmark movie.”
“Our film will be a lot more real,” Sharon adds. “We don’t want it to be squeaky, shiny clean and all of that. We’re not making it for kids. It’s an adult movie for adults.”
“I hope it will be a story that everybody can relate to. You don’t have to be a fan of the music, because it’s a story about a survivor. No matter what life throws at you, you pick yourself up and you start again. It’s just an amazing story of overcoming everything that’s thrown at you in your life.”
Meanwhile, Jack Osbourne tells Rolling Stone, “We have a writer. We said to go from 1979 to 1996. I can’t say too much, but the film is an active development.”
And Ozzy adds, “From what I understand, it’s about (wife and manager) Sharon and I and our relationship; it’s how we met, fell in love, and how we married. She’s my other half. She grew up a lot with me, and I grew up a lot with her… Sharon wants to get an unknown actor (to portray me).”
Meanwhile, Ozzy’s life will also be the subject of an upcoming TV documentary, “Biography: The Nine Lives of Ozzy Osbourne”, which Jack produced. It will premiere on America’s A&E network on 7 September (20).

  • Orlando Bloom Goes Naked in New Movie to Explore Trauma of Sexual Abuse

    Saban Films

The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ actor explains that his nude scenes in upcoming film ‘Retaliation’ are ‘required’ to explore the damage done due to sexual abuse.
    Aug 13, 2020
AceShowbiz – Orlando Bloom hopes fans can look beyond the nudity in his new movie “Retaliation” and understand the lasting trauma of childhood sexual abuse.
The 43-year-old actor appears as Malky, an adult victim of childhood sexual abuse who confronts the horrors of his past, in the movie, which premiered at the 2017 Edinburgh International Film Festival as Romans and is now available digitally and on demand in the U.S. under its new title.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, however, Orlando insisted the scenes were “really just what was required,” adding, “I didn’t think about the nudity aspect. I just thought about what was required in the moment to get the job done.”
“We talked about the shots and the nudity aspect and how it served the character and the truth of the moment,” the “Carnival Row” star shared. “I was focused more on that and obviously, I put a lot of trust in the directors, who were new and young, and had the greatest sincerity. They knew the writer very well, and their approach to the material was with real sensitivity and care. So, I felt I was serving the moment more than I was thinking about the fact that there was nudity.”
Orlando continued, “With the sex, you see very clear how damaged Malky is, and how his damage plays out in the relationships in his life, particularly with women. His fear of intimacy, his fear of closeness, the animalistic way with which he approaches sex, and the shame around that, it’s all very palpable in the script.”
“It’s very clear to me what was required, and then a lot of what I had gleaned from different organisations that I spoke to about male sexual abuse, it was reading up around it and researching around it. You can understand how and why people do things the way they do.”

  • Report: Nick Cannon to Sue ViacomCBS Following His Firing

    WENN

In a statement, Nick’s team claims that ‘the show was created by Nick Cannon with his idea and original thought,’ and that ‘Wild’N Out’ has ‘brought billions of dollars in revenue to Viacom since 2015.’
    Aug 13, 2020
AceShowbiz – It seems like Nick Cannon is firing back at ViacomCBS. According to a new report, “The Masked Singer” host is taking things to court after the company fired him over his anti-semitic controversy.
TheShadeRoom reports that Nick and his team are planning on taking ViacomCBS to court with a lawsuit to the tune of $1.5 billion. “It is just that simple, ‘Wild’N Out belongs to Nick!’ ” his team reported shared in a statement. “The show was created by Nick Cannon with his idea and original thought. Wild’N Out has brought billions of dollars in revenue to Viacom since 2015. And Nick deserves and has earned everything it is worth.”
“From the platforms he provides for other entertainers, the jobs he creates for black youth, the time he gives to mentoring incarcerated men and women, to the money he gives back and puts into communities, homelessness, and people less fortunate,” the statement continues.
In the statement, Nick’s team also notes that “he is constantly evolving both spiritually and mentally, as well as, taking action in learning, education and bridging the gap within the Jewish and African American communities, so that it will allow us to build relationships, work together and learn from each other in order to move forward in equality. If Viacom believes in growth, equality, education, then Viacom will do what is right and pay Nick what they owe, and giving him his $1.5 brand.”
ViacomCBS fired Nick in July in a statement which it shares that it has cut ties with the TV/radio personality. “ViacomCBS condemns bigotry of any kind and we categorically denounce all forms of anti-Semitism,” the Tuesday, July 14 statement read. “We have spoken to Nick Cannon about an episode of his podcast ‘Cannon’s Class’ on YouTube, which promoted hateful speech and spread anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.”
“While we support ongoing education and dialogue in the fight against bigotry, we are deeply troubled that Nick has failed to acknowledge or apologize for perpetuating anti-Semitism, and we are terminating our relationship with him. We are committed to doing better in our response to incidents of anti-Semitism, racism, and bigotry. ViacomCBS will have further announcements on our efforts to combat hate of all kinds,” so the statement continued.
“The Masked Singer” host received backlash for slamming white people in an episode of his podcast “Cannon’s Class”, calling them savages and barbaric. He then issued an apology by extending his “deepest and most sincere apologies to my Jewish sisters and brothers for the hurtful and divisive words that came out of my mouth during my interview with Richard Griffin.”

  • Ruby Rose Admits Returning to Film 'Batwoman' Soon After Back Surgery 'Wasn't the Best Idea'

    The CW

In a new interview, the ‘XXX: Return of Xander Cage’ star reveals her back injury played a part in her decision to exit The CW’s series, though she’s keen on returning to TV someday.
    Aug 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ruby Rose has finally revealed the real reasons behind her shocking departure from “Batwoman”. Less than three months after choosing to stay silent about her exit from The CW’s series, the actress known for her role as Kate Kane divulged that her back injury played a big part in her deciding against returning for a second season.
The 34-year-old actress, who injured her back in an on-set accident in 2019, made the revelation in an interview with Entertainment Weekly published on Monday, August 11. When addressing the challenges she faced as the lead star, she confessed that her decision to return filming the superhero series soon after undergoing back surgery “wasn’t the best idea.”
Having said that “being the lead of a superhero show was tough,” Ruby explained, “But I think, in that particular instance, it was a lot more difficult because I was still recovering from my surgery. I had my surgery and then 10 days later I went to work, which maybe wasn’t the best idea.” She added, “Most people take about a month or three off before they return to work, so it was definitely made more difficult by that.”
In the chat, the former “Orange Is the New Black” star additionally offered another reason for her exit. “It wasn’t so much [the injury], especially because after we wrapped up we didn’t get to finish the real finale because of COVID,” she shared. “You know, you have time in quarantine and sort of isolation to just think about a lot of different things and what you want to achieve in life and what you want to do.”
Fortunately, Ruby was able to have an honest conversation with producers about her decision to leave. “I think for both [me and the producers], it was a great opportunity to have a dialogue about a lot of things,” she clarified. “I respect them so much and they’ve been so respectful to me.”
Despite her departure, Ruby insisted she was “honored” to have been given the chance to take on the LGBTQ character. “The accomplishment and the trust that people put in you to do that role and then there’s also the vibrancy of being able to come on set and set the mood and the tone and the trust being put into it is something that’s been such an honor,” she stated.
“And I love my experience in ‘[Batwoman]’. I’m so grateful that we got to achieve everything that we did and I’m proud of everyone that worked on it. I’m proud of myself for working under sort of interesting circumstances, you know, with the recovery and all,” she continued. “I would definitely do [TV] again. I just think that it was also time for me to take a break to fully heal and then return.”
Ruby is also highly supportive of Javicia Leslie who has been signed to front the second season. “I think she definitely knows what she’s doing and she seems fantastic,” she raved. “I think that honestly, I was so proud and so happy when I was told who would be replacing me. I’m just really stoked and I’m definitely going to watch the next season as well and see how it all comes together.”

  • Shannon Elizabeth Credits Nude Scene in 'American Pie' for Acting Career

    Universal Pictures

The ‘Scary Movie’ actress reflects on her role as naive exchange student Nadia in the 1999 comedy during an interview for new documentary ‘Skin: A History of Nudity in the Movies’.
    Aug 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – Shannon Elizabeth has no regrets about stripping off for the “American Pie” movie, insisting the revealing scene kickstarted her career.
The actress agreed to bare almost all in a now-famous webcam scene in the 1999 comedy as naive exchange student Nadia, and she admits she’ll never look back and wish she’d kept her clothes on.
In new documentary “Skin: A History of Nudity in the Movies”, Shannon says, “If I hadn’t done ‘American Pie’ and I hadn’t done the role of Nadia and the nudity that came along with it, I might not have a career today.”
“I mean kids are taking pictures of themselves and putting it on the Internet all the time, so it’s not as big of a deal; you see it (nudity) online every day and you see it on Instagram. I didn’t really think about the fact that my character had nudity. I was a struggling actor auditioning for everything I could, so when I got the role I was so excited to get it.”
“I tried really hard to go in there and not be nervous. We added some stuff that actually wasn’t in the script so in the scene where I walk to the mirror and I’m topless and I’m looking at myself and I’m looking at my stomach and thinking I’m not happy with the way I look because that’s what girls do (sic). Doing ‘American Pie’ and the role of Nadia changed everything for me in my career. I ended up getting a three picture deal with Miramax because of it.”

ReedPOP, which operates New York Comic Con, claims that i will offer New York Comic Con’s Metaverse, an online convention experience, as it’s partnering with YouTube.
    Aug 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – The annual New York Comic Con will be different this year. The 2020 event, which as scheduled to be held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center October through October 11, has now been set to go virtual due to Coronvirus concern.
ReedPOP, which operates New York Comic Con, announced on Tuesday, August 11 that it would offer New York Comic Con’s Metaverse, an online convention experience, as it’s partnering with YouTube. The pop culture event will live stream panels about television series.
Fans will be able to participate in discussions YouTube’s live chat features. Additionally, the convention programming includes watch parties, professional workshops and the ability to buy three-minute-long virtual meet-and-greets.
“While we won’t be able to geek out with each other in person this year, we’re working hard to make sure Metaverse August and October will deliver unique experiences to help fill some of the longing we all have to get back to a convention,” said the organizer. “We’re doing everything we can to make sure that when it is safe for us to be together again, you’ll have the same amazing experience you’ve come to expect from NYCC.”
With NYCC going online, one of the perks is that fans wouldn’t have to wait in lines amid the crowds. However, Comic Con is known for being a social affair with many fans dressing up as their favorite characters.
Prior to this, organizers announced in April that San Diego Comic-Con was canceled for the first time in 50 years due to COVID-19. “Continuous monitoring of health advisories and recent statements by the Governor of California have made it clear that it would not be safe to move forward with plans for this year,” the statement said.
Later in May, Comic-Con International revealed it would be holding a free virtual con in lieu of the traditional in-person con. The online convention, dubbed [email protected], took place on July 22-26, the same time span during which San Diego Comic-Con would have been held.

  • Joey King Gets Candid About Playing Ex Jacob Elordi's Girlfriend in 'The Kissing Booth 2'

    Netflix

The actress playing Elle Evans in the Netflix sequel fell in love with her co-star while filming the original movie in 2017, but the two decided to part ways the following year.
    Aug 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – Joey King took one for the team as she romanced her real-life ex, Jacob Elordi, for Netflix sequel “The Kissing Booth 2” because she knew fans wanted to see their characters back together.
The stars met and fell in love while filming the original movie in 2017, but the pair split the following year only to reunite as Elle and Noah for the follow-up.
King admits it wasn’t easy pretending to be besotted by her ex, but she did what she had to do.
“No one’s thinking to themselves, ‘That was easy’, because it wasn’t,” she tells Cosmopolitan, adding, “I’m sure people will analyze every movement and every detail and you know what? Let them. But at the end of the day, I was just thrilled to be Elle Evans again.”
“Elle Evans needs her Noah Flynn, and whatever that means for my personal life, I’ll do anything to make sure the story of my character, who I care about so much, is complete.”

Both stars have moved on – Joey has been linked to her “The Act” producer Steven Piet, while she and her “The Kissing Booth 2” co-star Taylor Zakhar Perez sparked romance speculation last month (July) after he posted a photo of the pair at the beach on her 21st birthday, adding the caption: “Happy Friggen Birthday @joeyking. Honestly I could write about this woman all day. She is the reason I joined the KB2 family, she welcomed me with open arms and love, she supported me, she pushed me, she made me laugh (like pee my pants laughter and had to check my underwear), she inspired me to be a better actor, she shared her family with me, THE LIST GOES ON. Grateful for you forever.”
He has since made it clear that he and King are just good friends.
Meanwhile, Jacob has been linked to his “Euphoria” co-star Zendaya Coleman.
