    Beyonce Changes Her Costumes 63 Times in 'Black Is King'

    AceShowbiz – Beyonce changes outfits a total of 63 times in “Black Is King”.
    The 38-year-old singer’s visual album, which accompanies “The Lion King: The Gift”, dropped on Disney+ last Friday (31Jul20), with fans left stunned by the incredible ensembles Beyonce sports throughout the 85-minute film.
    “Black Is King” ‘s fashion curator Zerina Akers opened up about working on the project during an interview with Entertainment Tonight, telling the outlet that she had to come prepared with suitcases upon suitcases of clothes for the former Destiny’s Child star.
    Revealing Beyonce had 63 outfit changes, Akers said, “You have to be prepared. If she says, ‘I just want to shoot, I think it would be really nice in a T-shirt,’ I’m like, OK, 10 ball gowns, please. Just in case! Because more likely than not, we get there and it’s like, ‘Oh, it’s so beautiful, we need something more grand.’ And we kind of allow it to shape-shift.”
    Akers also had to ensure that she had lots of outfit choices for Beyonce’s eight-year-old daughter Blue, who also features in the visual album.
    “The cool thing about Blue that not a lot of people know is that a lot of times she chooses when she wants to (be involved),” she said. “She may see her mother doing a shot she thinks is cool. When she sees something in it, she may be like, ‘I want to do that, can I have a turn to do that?’ ”
    “She gets up and she just kind of does her thing. It all kind of comes to life.”

    AceShowbiz – Katy Perry has defended her “friend” Ellen DeGeneres following accusations she presided over a toxic workplace culture on her chat show.
    The presenter has been heavily criticised in recent weeks for allegedly turning a blind eye to staff members reporting misconduct, racism and sexual harassment – with some former fans even calling for her to be replaced.
    However, Katy leapt to her pal’s defence on Twitter, explaining to fans that the 62-year-old had always treated her with kindness.
    “I know I can’t speak for anyone else’s experience besides my own but I want to acknowledge that I have only ever had positive takeaways from my time with Ellen & on the @theellenshow,” Katy wrote. “I think we all have witnessed the light & continual fight for equality that she has brought to the world through her platform for decades. Sending you love & a hug, friend @TheEllenShow (heart emoji).”
    Current and former employees of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” have alleged that far from the kindness Ellen preaches on screen, behind the scenes the show has a toxic work environment.
    The allegations include ones of sexual misconduct against senior producers on the show.
    Ellen has spoken out about the controversy, and vowed to work with WarnerMedia chiefs to “correct the issues” raised, like claims of intimidation and racism.
    The star’s wife Portia de Rossi has also promised to “stand by” her spouse amid reports she may be replaced by late night host James Corden.

    The actor who plays the Founding Father Aaron Burr in the critically-acclaimed musical says he would have left if he didn’t receive the same fee as his white peer.

    AceShowbiz – “Hamilton” star Leslie Odom Jr. was prepared to miss the filmed version of the hit musical after producers held out on his request for pay parity until the eve of production.
    The Broadway smash was filmed with the original cast over two nights in 2016, and was recently released on the new Disney+ streaming service to high praise from fans and critics alike.
    Odom, Jr. reprised his role as U.S. Founding Father Aaron Burr for the recording, but reveals he almost walked away from the part because the Tony and Grammy Award winner, who is African-American, demanded he receive the same fee as his white peer, Aaron Tveit, when he starred in the 2016 TV event, “Grease: Live”.
    “The day before the movie (shoot), we were still in negotiations of whether I was gonna do the movie, because the movie had been announced…, but no one had called my agent to ask if I’d wanted to do (the filmed play),” Odom Jr. explained on the “Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard” podcast.
    “It was assumed that we wanted to do the movie and that we would do it for a certain number, and all this stuff was assumed.”
    “And mind you, we were a week before the (Broadway) contracts end, so it’s like, the wonderful thing about what’s happening in the streets (protests for racial equality), is it has opened the door for more honest conversation…”
    He continued, “They came to me with an offer: ‘Leslie, we’re shooting tomorrow…’ And I’m like, ‘Here’s the thing: this is my area of expertise, this is my life’s work, this is all I have. This is my life’s work on the stage…, and so I just can’t sell it away for magic beans; I can’t give it away…’ ”
    Odom Jr. asked his representative at talent agency CAA to find out how much his “white counterpart” Tveit made for “Grease: Live” and requested he receive the same compensation.
    “This is Hamilton!” he exclaimed. “So when I found out how much he made, I didn’t ask for a penny more, but I said, ‘You must pay me exactly what that white boy got to do Grease: Live.’ ”
    The gamble paid off, but Odom Jr. insists he would have walked away had his request been snubbed.
    “It doesn’t always work… I lose jobs sometimes,” he shrugged. “The day before we shot that movie, I called out (of work). I was not kidding (about pay request). I was not coming to work the next day to do the movie…”
    “It was the principle for me and sometimes it doesn’t work out… and you have to go, ‘That’s OK.’ ”
    The “Hamilton” film also stars creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, Daveed Diggs, Phillipa Soo, and Jonathan Groff.

    AceShowbiz – Bradley Cooper is reportedly in talks to star in Paul Thomas Anderson’s new movie.
    The duo, who have each been nominated for an Oscar on eight occasions without winning, are set to team up on a coming-of-age drama set in San Fernando Valley in the 1970s, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.
    Plot details have largely been kept under wraps, but according to the publication, like Anderson’s 1999 epic “Magnolia”, it will feature multiple storylines, which this time will revolve around a child actor attending high school.
    The Valley is a popular setting for the “There Will Be Blood” filmmaker, with his movies “Boogie Nights”, “Magnolia”, and “Punch Drunk Love” all located there. Further details of Cooper’s potential role are unknown.
    The project was due to start shooting in spring or summer 2020 but has been delayed due to the Covid-19 shutdown – but producers are now eyeing an autumn start date should lockdown restrictions imposed during the pandemic allow.
    The “Silver Linings Playbook” star is currently in the middle of filming Guillermo del Toro’s “Nightmare Alley”, which has been shut down due to the coronavirus crisis. He also has another directorial project – a biopic of legendary composer Leonard Bernstein that he will also star in.

    AceShowbiz – Ariana Grande is reportedly set to earn $5.2 million (£4 million) for a Netflix film of her Sweetener World Tour.
    The “7 Rings” singer has hinted a film about the 97-date trek could be on the way when questioned by a fan on Twitter last week (end2Aug20).
    According to British newspaper The Sun, the prospect has sparked a bidding war, with Netflix chiefs ready to offer as much as $5.2 million for the rights.
    An insider tells the publication, “Ariana’s team are nego­tiating a huge deal bet­ween a number of big hitters, with Netflix and YouTube both showing interest. Netflix has put forward a starting offer of £4 million ($5.2 million) to get the rights.”
    “The deal is being nego­ti­ated by Ari’s closest advisers, led by Scooter Braun. She had cameras following her every move on the Sweet­en­er World Tour last year.”
    Speaking about the nature of the likely film, the source adds, “Along with her perform­ances, Ariana was filmed backstage, while travelling and during downtime. It will be a brutally honest and raw depiction of how tough life can be on the road but will include the happier, heart-warming times too.”
    Ariana previously worked with YouTube on a docu-series in 2018, which showed her on the road during her “Dangerous Woman” tour.

    AceShowbiz – Things have yet to be settled between Bravo and NeNe Leakes ahead of season 13 of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta”. The fact that NeNe is still in negotiations regarding the new season reportedly doesn’t sit well with other cast members.
    “The ladies are a little annoyed that NeNe hasn’t signed her contract yet. They feel she does this every year and puts herself on this pedestal and they just roll their eyes a bit over it,” a source close to production claims to HollywoodLife.com. Despite that, it is said that the cast, who has started filming, is “not surprised.”
    NeNe herself previously opened up about the state of the negotiations regarding her return to the upcoming season. “So, I’m still on holding pattern, let me start there. And also I’d be able to say that it’s not me, it’s them,” NeNe explained. “Every single season when it ends, or at least the last 3 or 4 seasons, I have been dealing with this-going back and forth.”
    Once again, the 52-year-old insisted that the whole process took so long because of the show’s production team. “I know a lot of people think it’s me. ‘NeNe holds out to the last minute,’ ‘NeNe holding out,’ that’s not NeNe. NeNe is not doing that,” she said, adding that “negotiation takes time.”
    The uncertainty surrounding NeNe’s return to the new season also sparked rumors that she’s been fired by the network. Her rep Steven Grossman denied them, saying that it was “absolutely not true that Nene has been fired from ‘RHOA’. Furthermore, it was made abundantly clear prior that she will always be welcome on the series as long as she wants to be. … Any speculation or sources trying to create controversy by stating otherwise are incredibly inaccurate. Bloop.”
    While NeNe’s status in season 13 remains uncertain, the new season will reportedly welcome two new faces, actress Drew Sidora and Canadian YouTube star LaToya Ali a.k.a. LaToya Forever. Drew will be the second actress to appear on the show after Kim Fields, who left the series after season 7 to prioritize her acting and directing career. Meanwhile, LaToya was first reported to join “RHOA” back in 2019.

    Opening up about her plans for the ‘Wonder Woman’ trilogy, the director says an upcoming follow-up to ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ might be her last in the DC female superhero franchise.

    AceShowbiz – Director Patty Jenkins will “probably” step away from the “Wonder Woman” film franchise after turning the superhero series into a trilogy.
    The filmmaker is currently waiting to launch “Wonder Woman 1984” in theaters after the blockbuster’s original summer release was postponed until October due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
    Despite the delay, Jenkins has started making plans for another movie about the titular Amazon princess-turned-warrior, played by Gal Gadot, and the project will likely be her last in the franchise.
    However, Jenkins warns fans there may be a bit of a wait in between releases, because she doesn’t want to jump straight back into the DC Comics world, as she had with the forthcoming 1984 after the success of 2017’s “Wonder Woman”.
    In a new interview with German publication Geek, translated and posted on Twitter fan account @DCMovieNews2, she explains, “It’s just a matter of, will we change our minds (about the storyline), and when (to make it).”
    “I think what we don’t want to do is do it back-to-back. It’s been great doing these two movies back-to-back, but I think it’s important to give it a little rest in between. And I like doing other things in between. And Gal has other things to do.”
    Discussing her future with the franchise, Jenkins added, “The next one is probably my last Wonder Woman movie, so I have to put everything I want to show there. We have to think carefully.”
    “WW84 gave me a chance to do a lot of things that I couldn’t accommodate in the first movie,” she explained. “I was so happy to tell the ‘Wonder Woman’ origin story. It was almost her birth, but we really haven’t seen what she is capable of.”

    Patty Jenkins opened up about her plans for the ‘Wonder Woman’ trilogy.
    “It is exciting for me to show her at the peak of her strength. But it is also very important that she fights an internal struggle: she is a Goddess and tries to help humanity. She is not only someone who fights evil, she tries to show bad people how to improve. It’s an interesting dilemma.”

    AceShowbiz – Pandemic-inspired film “Alone (2021)” has appropriately become one of the first U.K. features to begin shooting following the coronavirus shutdown.
    According to Deadline, production on Kirsty Bell’s directorial debut quietly began last month. It features Derek Jacobi, Sadie Frost, and Frances Barber.
    Written by Bell, the black and white production focuses on six interlinked narratives after the cast and crew of a movie are sent home after the global health crisis halts filming.
    Bell notes those involved in the project have been following strict government guidelines put in place to combat the spread of the deadly disease.
    She tells the outlet, “We have a COVID officer, we all had COVID training, cast are tested by our on-set medic every day they come to set, the set is cleaned every morning and end of day, everyone wears masks and/or visors, there are no more than six crew members on set at any time and never more than one cast member on set, and we have regular coronavirus briefings.”

    “Alone” will complete shooting at Twickenham Studios and other areas of London, with a few scenes shot in France, this month.
