  • James Corden Allegedly to Replace Ellen DeGeneres Amid Investigation Over Toxic Workplace

    WENN

The ‘Late Late Show’ host is reportedly in line to take over Ellen’s daytime talk show following numerous rumors that Ellen turned blind eye to racism, bullying, and sexual harassment.
    Aug 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – America’s “Late Late Show” host James Corden could take over Ellen DeGeneres’ hit daytime talk show, according to new reports.
Editors at Britain’s The Sun newspaper claimed Corden “could be the shock winner after dozens of employees accused the $50 million-a-year (£38 million) presenter of turning a blind eye to racism, bullying and sexual harassment on her hit daytime show.”
Sources told the publication Corden has long been seen as DeGeneres’ “long term successor,” with the ongoing scandal only cementing his future on the show.
The U.K. tabloid report comes as the New York Post obtained an internal email from the show’s own executive producers, revealing DeGeneres is returning to the studio for the first time in months amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Neither Corden nor DeGeneres has responded to the reports.
On Thursday (30Jul20), the star, who has fronted “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” since its inception in 2003, released a statement, admitting she was “sorry” about recent allegations of a “toxic” work environment from former employees.
But on Friday, BuzzFeed bosses published a new report, alleging that “the office is a place where sexual harassment and misconduct by top executive producers runs rampant,” according to “dozens of men and women who work behind the scenes.”

  • Helena Bonham Carter Swipes Props From 'The Crown' and Plans to Sell Them on eBay

    Netflix

The actress who played Princess Margaret in season 3 and 4 of the Netflix royal series reveals she took a lot of props from the set and might sell them online.
    Aug 2, 2020
AceShowbiz – Helena Bonham Carter has joked she’s planning to sell the expensive props she nabbed from “The Crown” set on auction site eBay.
The 54-year-old actress played Princess Margaret in season three and four of the hit Netflix show. She’s now handed over the role to successor Lesley Manville as the royal drama continues telling its chronological tale, but managed to take some souvenirs from the set before the gig came to an end.
“I got loads of stuff – it’s all going on eBay. I’ve got lots of pearls, though I’ll send those back,” she told Britain’s The Sun newspaper. “But we got real, proper props. There was this lighter which was fantastically heavy – it was pure gold, it was ridiculous.”
“I was like, ‘How much did this cost?’ And they told me and it was just shocking.”
Helena became synonymous with the cigarette holder Margaret is always seen with thanks to her role in the show and, in another interview with Radio Times magazine, the British star said she should use the accessory as a baton to pass to Lesley.
“I feel like I should be handing over a baton, like this race we are all running,” she smiled. “With Lesley, I feel like I should hand the cigarette holder that I used as a baton. Here you are, over to you!”
“She’s going to have a great time with her and I’m so chuffed it’s her and she’s a great actress and she’ll have great fun.”

    Aug 2, 2020
AceShowbiz – Channing Tatum is taking on a new role as producer of a project for Amazon Studios.
The 40-year-old “Magic Mike” star will team with Scooter Braun and the streaming giant for an as-yet-untitled Lady Macbeth young adult musical feature.
According to editors at The Hollywood Reporter, Tatum will produce through his Free Association production company, alongside partners Reid Carolin, Peter Kiernan and Michael Parets. Braun will produce through his SB Projects company, alongside Scott Manson and James Shin.
Details of the plot are under wraps at present, but the publication reports it will potentially feature a teenage version of William Shakespeare’s iconic character Lady Macbeth who “grapples with her own morality as she contends with the dreadful consequences of her ambition.”
Lady Macbeth is a key figure in Shakespeare’s “Macbeth”, the tale of a Scottish general who murders his way into kingship while descending into madness from guilt and belief in a prophecy told by witches. Lady Macbeth is his wife – a calculating woman who prods her husband into murder and war.
John McPhail of “Anna and the Apocalypse” will direct the project, which will be written by S.J. Inwards.

    WENN

The ‘Deadpool’ actor is using his own money to pay up to 20 trainees from marginalized backgrounds to work on movie set in an effort to push diversity in the film industry.
    Aug 2, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ryan Reynolds has launched The Group Effort Initiative in a bid to diversify the film industry.
The “Deadpool” star will pay 10 to 20 trainees who are black, indigenous, other persons of colour or from different marginalised backgrounds to work on set, using his own earnings from every movie he makes moving forward as part of the work experience programme.
“I’ve had a front row seat to the immense talent of so many artisans, storytellers and experts,” Ryan told The Hollywood Reporter in a statement on Friday (31Jul20). “Being a member of a film crew is a special experience – but that privilege hasn’t been extended to everyone. There’s a ton of untapped talent out there. This action is the right thing to do, but it’s worth noting that inclusivity will also make our industry stronger and more dynamic. We will tell better stories.”
Ryan worked with Dr. Stacy Smith of the Annenberg Inclusion Initiative to help design The Group Effort Initiative, which he will employ for movies made under his Maximum Effort Productions company.
The first group of trainees will work on his upcoming untitled time travel film to be directed by Shawn Levy for Netflix. The sci-fi project is expected to begin filming soon in Vancouver, Canada if coronavirus restrictions do not derail the original schedule.
