    ABC

The ‘Little Fires Everywhere’ actress hints that she might agree to reprise her role as Olivia Pope if the ABC hit political thriller series is brought back to screen one day.
    Jul 31, 2020
AceShowbiz – Kerry Washington would find turning down a return to hit TV series “Scandal” “hard.”
The actress reunited with former co-stars including Katie Lowes, Cornelius Smith, Jr., George Newbern, Joe Morton, Guillermo Diaz, and director Tom Verica virtually on Wednesday (29Jul20) – more than two years since the political thriller aired its final episode.
During the online get together, hosted by Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley, the “Little Fires Everywhere” star addressed the possibility of reprising her starring role in the future.
While admitting the idea of slipping on former White House director of communications Olivia Pope’s shoes again was “hard to imagine,” she confessed, “But it would be very hard to say no to the opportunity to work with these people again.”
The actress went on to reveal the chemistry they all shared during the drama’s seven-season run was like “lightning in a bottle,” and that the bond has stayed strong even after the show came to a close.
“We still spend time together, and we really love each other,” Washington shared.

  • Ellen DeGeneres Breaks Silence on Show's Alleged Toxic Environment: I'm 'Disappointed' and 'Sorry'

    NBC

Meanwhile, Warner Bros. has also released a new statement in which it talks about ‘several staffing changes’ as executive producer Ed Glavin is reportedly set to exit ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’.
    Jul 31, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ellen DeGeneres has finally responded to rumors regarding alleged toxic environment on her talk show “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”. Amid an internal investigation done by WarnerMedia on her popular show following racism, workplace intimidation, and mistreatment allegations, the 62-year-old TV personality shared in an internal memo that she’s “sorry” for what happened and claimed that she had been misrepresented.
“Hey everybody – It’s Ellen. On day one of our show, I told everyone in our first meeting that The Ellen DeGeneres Show would be a place of happiness – no one would ever raise their voice, and everyone would be treated with respect,” she began saying in the memo, which was obtained by Variety on Thursday, July 30.
She added, “Obviously, something changed, and I am disappointed to learn that this has not been the case. And for that, I am sorry. Anyone who knows me knows it’s the opposite of what I believe and what I hoped for our show.”
Thanking everyone for the show’s success, Ellen said that she took responsibility on everything that happened on the show since “my name is on the show.” Ellen continued, “Alongside Warner Bros, we immediately began an internal investigation and we are taking steps, together, to correct the issues. As we’ve grown exponentially, I’ve not been able to stay on top of everything and relied on others to do their jobs as they knew I’d want them done. Clearly some didn’t. That will now change and I’m committed to ensuring this does not happen again.”
Later, Ellen defended herself, saying, “I’m also learning that people who work with me and for me are speaking on my behalf and misrepresenting who I am and that has to stop. As someone who was judged and nearly lost everything for just being who I am, I truly understand and have deep compassion for those being looked at differently, or treated unfairly, not equal, or – worse – disregarded. To think that any one of you felt that way is awful to me.”
“It’s been way too long, but we’re finally having conversations about fairness and justice. We all have to be more mindful about the way our words and actions affect others, and I’m glad the issues at our show were brought to my attention,” she went on to say. “I promise to do my part in continuing to push myself and everyone around me to learn and grow. It’s important to me and to Warner Bros. that everyone who has something to say can speak up and feels safe doing so.”
Before concluding her memo, Ellen claimed that she would’ve made this announcement “in person” if not for the COVID-19 pandemic, and apologized to those who didn’t “love working” on her show.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Warner Bros. released a new statement that read, “We have identified several staffing changes, along with appropriate measures to address the issues that have been raised, and are taking the first steps to implement them. Warner Bros. and Ellen DeGeneres are all committed to ensuring a workplace based on respect and inclusion. We are confident this course of action will lead us to the right way forward for the show.”
It is said that EP Ed Glavin is set to exit the show. However, a rep for Warner Bros. declined to comment on his alleged departure.

  • 'The Comey Rule': Brendan Gleeson's Donald Trump in First Teaser Receives Mixed Reactions

    [embedded content]

The two-part Showtime series, which reportedly costs $40 million, follows the FBI’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails and potential Russian involvement in the election
    Jul 31, 2020
AceShowbiz – “The Comey Rule” has treated fans to its first sneak peek at the upcoming Showtime limited series. Coming in the form of a teaser, it features a better look at Brendan Gleeson’s “less cartoonish” take on President Donald Trump.
The video, which was released on Wednesday, July 29, opens with Gleeson’s Trump walking inside the White House. Later, he can be seen having a conversation over a dinner with former FBI director James Comey, who is played by Jeff Daniels.
Somewhere in the teaser, the pair are seen standing before reporters. While shaking Comey’s hand, Gleeson’s Trump whispers on his rival’s ear, “Really looking forward to working with you. Let’s take a picture.”
To portray Trump, Gleeson sports prosthetics which perfectly hides his face. Amazed by his take on POTUS, one fan reacts, “Brendan Gleeson is going to be brilliant.
However, someone else notes that Gleeson’s voice impersonation is less spot-on compared to the visual. “The look of Trump is pretty good here but I feel the voice is a bit off and feels rougher than in real life,” the person comments. “It made me think of Christian Bale’s voice for Batman.”
Echoing the sentiment, one person says, “Gleeson’s probably gonna nail it but the voice is almost too butch. He needs to be more whiny.”
The two-part series, which reportedly costs $40 million, follows the FBI’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails and potential Russian involvement in the election. It also depicts Comey’s personality clash with the new president.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, writer Billy Ray shared the show wanted to make Gleeson’s interpretation of Trump “less cartoonish.” He explained, “Everywhere that we could, we dialled it down.”
“We made the contrast between the bags under his eyes and the orange skin softer than it actually is. We made the hair a little less cartoonish than it actually is. We made the suits fit a little bit better. We went out of our way to play fair because we felt we owed that to the public. We are not here to ridicule anybody,” he added.
“The Comey Rule” is set to debut on September 27 on Showtime.

  • Find Out How Tyler Perry Handles Filming During Pandemic After Crew Members Test Positive

    WENN

Despite that, the media mogul and his crew were still able to wrap up the production for the ‘Sistas’ without having any other members test positive for the virus.
    Jul 30, 2020
AceShowbiz – Filming during the pandemic era is surely not an easy feat, but Tyler Perry has managed to do it. However, it doesn’t mean he didn’t have any difficulties while shooting “Sistas” because the media mogul recently revealed in an interview that four crew members actually tested positive during the production.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporters, Perry broke down how he handled the situation after learning of the news. “Here’s how it went: We had 160 people check in the first day, go to their rooms, get tested and wait for their results. Nobody was able to leave their rooms. We had two positives in that. So we had them escorted out and got the help that they needed,” the star explained.
“Then 200 people checked in [soon after] and we had two positive inside of the 200. We had them escorted out and got them the help that they needed. So we had four before anybody left their rooms, before anybody started work,” Perry continued, pointing out that this way more people would not be affected. “Those rooms were kept closed and off limits to anybody until after we finished shooting.”
Executive produced by Perry, “Sistas” follows a group of single black women from different walks of life who bond over their one common thread: why am I single? In this bold new series, viewers watch these women navigate their “complicated love life” status, careers and friendship through the ups-and-downs of living in a modern world of social media and unrealistic relationship goals.
First aired in October last year on BET, this comedy-drama series stars KJ Smith, Ebony Obsidian, Mignon Von and Novi Brown among others. It’s still unclear when the second season of the show will be released to the public.

  • 'RHOA': NeNe Leakes Says She's Still in Negotiations for Season 13

    Instagram

The 52-year-old insists that the whole process takes so long because of the Bravo show’s production team, saying, ‘I know a lot of people think it’s me. … that’s not NeNe.’
    Jul 30, 2020
AceShowbiz – NeNe Leakes has addressed rumors swirling about her for some weeks in a new Instagram Live. During the live streaming, “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star opened up about her status for season 13 of the Bravo reality show.
She revealed that she’s still negotiating her contract with the network regarding her return to the upcoming season. “So, I’m still on holding pattern, let me start there. And also I’d be able to say that it’s not me, it’s them,” NeNe explained. “Every single season when it ends, or at least the last 3 or 4 seasons, I have been dealing with this-going back and forth.”
Once again, the 52-year-old insisted that the whole process took so long because of the show’s production team. “I know a lot of people think it’s me. ‘NeNe holds out to the last minute,’ ‘NeNe holding out,’ that’s not NeNe. NeNe is not doing that,” she said, adding that “negotiation takes time.”
She also talked about rumors that she allegedly calls herself the queen and the HBIC (Head B***h in Charge). “Well, I am a queen. … I’m going to continue to say I’m a queen, cause I am,” NeNe hit back. She went on to say that people should call co-star Porsha Williams the same since she “wanted the crown, I know she considered herself the queen.”

While NeNe’s status in season 13 remains uncertain, the new season will reportedly welcome two new faces, actress Drew Sidora and Canadian YouTube star LaToya Ali a.k.a. LaToya Forever. Drew will be the second actress to appear on the show after Kim Fields, who left the series after season 7 to prioritize her acting and directing career. Meanwhile, LaToya was first reported to join “RHOA” back in 2019.
