  • Emmys 2020 Will Be Held Virtually, Promises to Offer 'Unique 'on Screen' Moments'

The announcement is made in a letter from this year’s Emmy executive producers sent to key acting nominees, informing them that they won’t be asked ‘to come to the Microsoft Theatre in downtown L.A. on September 20th.’
    Jul 30, 2020
AceShowbiz – The 2020 Emmy Awards will go virtual. The announcement is made in a letter from this year’s Emmy executive producers sent to key acting nominees. In the letter, the nominees are asked to prepare themselves to participate in the awards-giving event from home.
“As you’ve probably guessed, we’re not going to be asking you to come to the Microsoft Theatre in downtown L.A. on September 20th,” reads the letter. “This year, it’s still going to be TV industry’s biggest night out… but we’ll come to you!”
“We are assembling a top notch team of technicians, producers and writers to work closely with Jimmy Kimmel and with you and your team, to make sure that we can film with you (and loved ones or whomever else you choose to be with) at your home, or another location of your choice,” the letter continues.
The TV Academy also claims in the letter that they’re “going to make you look fabulous” in addition to “exploring the cutting edge of technology to allow to use good cameras and lighting and look forward to working with you to produce your unique ‘on screen’ moments.”
The letter is signed by the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards’ host and EP Jimmy as well as fellow EPs Reggie Hudlin and Ian Stewart, Guy Carrington and David Jammy from telecast producer Done+Dusted.
ABC and Television Academy then share in a joint statement, “As ABC and the Television Academy continue to formulate plans for the Emmys telecast, producers have taken the proactive step of reaching out to some nominees now to inform them of our intent to deliver a live show that is both celebratory and safe. We look forward to sharing information with you in the weeks ahead, as we solidify our plans for TV’s biggest night.”
The new announcement arrives shortly after the 2020 Primetime Emmys announced its nominations on Tuesday, July 28. “Ozark”, “Watchmen”, “Succession”, “Dead to Me”, “Killing Eve” and “Schitt’s Creek” lead the nominations with three nods apiece.

  • Ryan Reynolds Blames 'Deadpool' Leaks for Third Movie's Delay in 'Unsolved Mysteries' Spoof

    Twentieth Century Fox

Celebrating the six-year anniversary of the leaked ‘Deadpool’ test footage, the Merc with a Mouth depicter releases an ‘Unsolved Mysteries’-inspired parody trailer about the case.
    Jul 30, 2020
AceShowbiz – Six years after the leaks of the “Deadpool” movie test footage, Ryan Reynolds is still investigating the culprit behind it, or so he claims. Marking the six-year anniversary of the leaks, the Canadian actor released on his Instagram and Twitter page on Tuesday, July 28 an “Unsolved Mysteries” parody about the case.
The video, spoofing the trailer of the popular TV series which was recently revived on Netflix, features the haunting music along with footage from the first film. The title, written in the “Unsolved Mysteries” font, reads, “Unsolved Leaks.”
In the caption, Reynolds joked that the unsolved case is the reason why “Deadpool 3” is taking so long to come. “It’s why the next #Deadpool film is taking so long. Still trying to solve this. Happy #Leakaversary,‬” he wrote.

It’s good to see that Reynolds still finds the humor in the “Deadpool 3” delay and keeps his positive spirits after “Deadpool” comic book creator Rob Liefeld has several times expressed his doubt that there will be a third movie. “You know what? There may not be another ‘Deadpool’, and I’m fine,” he said in an interview with Collider earlier this month. “Because I have to live with the fact that I had two amazing experiences, two movies I’m extremely proud of, I love knowing everybody on those movies.”
Praising the whole “Deadpool” movie’s team, Liefeld gushed, “I love Ryan (Reynolds), Josh (Brolin), Zazie (Beetz), David (Leitch), Tim Miller. All of them. The work they did was fantabulous, those movies are here to stand the test of time. You know, but in the world we live in, nothing is guaranteed. And it takes a lot to make movies. And post-quarantine, it’s weird.”
While a direct sequel might be off the cards, Liefeld hopes to see a spin-off focused on Cable, played by Josh Brolin. “Cable should have his own movie series. He can exist independent of Deadpool in a heartbeat. He has for years,” he teased. “If Deadpool’s been in like 330 comics, Cable’s been in about 520. Yes, I’ve counted…”
“In between ‘Deadpool 2’ wrapping and opening, I got really close with Josh. And he was very excited about exploring Cable in the subsequent sequels,” he went on sharing. “The X-Force standalone movie that was, in his own words, Cable-centric.”

  • Bernadette Beck Calls Out 'Riverdale' for Making Her 'Invisible'

    The CW

The English native, who joins the cast of The CW’s series since season 3 to play Peaches ‘N Cream, also claims in a new interview that she’s ‘made out to be a very unlikable character and therefore, an unlikable person in people’s eyes.’
    Jul 29, 2020
AceShowbiz – Another “Riverdale” cast member is speaking against The CW’s series. Two months after co-star Vanessa Morgan called for more diversity on the show, Bernadette Beck got candid about her experience being one of a few black cast members on the show.
“I was made out to be a very unlikable character and therefore, an unlikable person in people’s eyes,” Bernadette, who plays Peaches ‘N Cream, a bisexual member of the Pretty Poisons, on the series told ELLE.com on Tuesday, July 28. She also criticized the way the series depicted her character.
“I get it, there’s always a protagonist and antagonist, but I never had much of a story plot or enough character development to even be considered an antagonist. I was, for no reason, depicted in a very negative, unattractive light,” she shared.
The English native went on to say that she’s “not the first black actress to show up on set, stand there, chew gum, and look sassy and mean. I feel like I was just there to fulfill a diversity quota. It’s just to fulfill points.”
Beck, who joined the cast since season 3, also claimed that she was treated as if she’s invisible on the set. “I was completely forgotten in the scene more than once,” she alleged. “The director [would] be walking off set and I’d have to chase them down because I had no idea where to stand, what to do — I just hadn’t been given any instruction.”
“You can’t treat people like they’re invisible and then pat yourself on the back for meeting your diversity quota for the day,” she said.
She went on to say that she initially didn’t understand how being a likable character was important. “Some people say it’s just a TV show, but I’m thinking about the implications long-term,” she explained. “If we are depicted as unlikable or our characters are not developed or we’re looked at as the enemy all the time, that affects our public persona. What kind of opportunities are we losing out on even after ‘Riverdale’?”

Beck took to her Instagram account to share her interview. “I have remained silent for far too long. We must come together as a collective to hold Hollywood along with our systemic oppressors accountable,” she wrote in the caption.

    Jul 29, 2020
AceShowbiz – Season 15 of “America’s Got Talent” aired its first round of Judge Cuts on Tuesday, July 28. Usually, contestants are coming face-to-face for this round, but due to coronavirus, they did it differently this season. Judges Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel reunited in the studio while the acts were shown on a huge screen.
After sending Celina, Malik DOPE, Alan Silva, Brett Loudermilk and Archie Williams to the live shows, the judges were offered with another 10 performances with salsa dance duo Simon and Maria being the first act to perform. Simon praised them for performing a “better routine,” while Sofia called them “perfect.”

Hula hooper Craig Reid performed next, flaunting his skills to Lady GaGa’s “Stupid Love”. As for magician Max Major, he performed at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. It was such an epic performance, enough to make Simon stunned and give him high-fives through the screen.

Next up was singer Shaquira McGrath who belted out a slowed-down rendition of Avicii’s “Wake Me Up”. “Your voice was breathtaking,” Sofia raved, while Heidi called the performance “amazing.” Following it up was comedian Ty Barnett whom Heidi found “very likable” and “funny.” However, Sofia noted that his performance during the first audition was better.

The episode also featured a “super entertaining” performance from Ninja Twins who sang Justin Bieber’s “Yummy”. Concluding the night was danger act Jonathan Goodwin. Before he started, he claimed that this was “the most dangerous and scariest thing I’ve ever performed.” It was indeed a dangerous act as he was blindfolded while there were loaded crossbows firing at him.

It was later time for the judges to pick only 5 of them to move on. Those who headed to the live shows were Simon and Maria, Jonathan Goodwin, Shaquira McGrath, Max Major, and Nolan Neal.

WE tv makes the announcement about ‘Get Ya Life!’ less than two weeks after the ‘Braxton Family Values’ star was found unresponsive at her apartment in Los Angeles.
    Jul 29, 2020
AceShowbiz – Singer Tamar Braxton’s upcoming reality show has stalled as the star recovers from an apparent suicide attempt.
Bosses at WE tv have confirmed “Tamar Braxton: Get Ya Life!” will no longer premiere on Thursday (July 30), due to the 43-year-old’s “current situation.”
“At this moment we are joining with her fans and sending strength and healing in the hope that she is getting the support and help she needs at this difficult time,” a statement from the network reads.

Earlier this month Braxton’s boyfriend, David Adefeso, found the singer and reality TV star unresponsive at her apartment in Los Angeles and took her to the hospital, where she is receiving ongoing treatment.
He later released a statement to The Blast thanking his girlfriend’s fans for their “ongoing thoughts and prayers.”
“Tamar is a beautifully talented woman, a devoted mother, a loving girlfriend, a dear sister and a special friend to countless people,” David said. “This is an extremely difficult time for Tamar and her family as she navigates professional and personal struggles, including her battle with depression.”
“Tamar is currently receiving the best available medical attention to address those struggles and strengthen her mental health, and her family and I will remain by her side throughout her treatment.”
Reports suggest Tamar spent several days in a coma following an alleged overdose of alcohol and pills.
“Get Ya Life!” is now expected to debut on 10 September.
