  • 'Game of Thrones' Star Understands Outrage Over Missandei's Cruel Death

    HBO

Nathalie Emmanuel says she understands why black fans are upset as the sole black female lead was viciously killed in the final season of the HBO hit series.
    Jul 26, 2020
AceShowbiz – Nathalie Emmanuel has reflected on her bloody end in hit show “Game of Thrones” and insisted if she were to do another big show, the subject of diversity should not be an afterthought.
In the wake of the global Black Lives Matter movement, Emmanuel has reflected on the brutal way her character, Missandei, a translator freed from slavery by Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen, died – chained and viciously beheaded in the final season.
In an interview with British Vogue, the actress revealed she understood the huge outcry from “Game of Thrones” black fans over the death of its sole black female lead as they had long criticised the show over its lack of diversity.
“I definitely understood beforehand what my role meant to people,” she reflected. “But the days after that episode really brought it home… When it comes down to it, the backlash stems from the fact that, when there’s so few non-white characters on-screen, a death like that registers as a massive loss.”
She continued, “It definitely caused me to reflect a lot more – about race and diversity more generally. At the end of the day, if there’s ever a show on the level of Game of Thrones again, representation has to be part of the conversation from the beginning. That way, there’s no single person who has to represent every other person of colour.”
The British actress admitted she often discussed her concerns over her character’s representation with her co-star Jacob Anderson as she became aware of how much their presence on the show mattered to fans of the hit HBO fantasy series.
“It’s a conversation I used to have a lot with Jacob (Anderson), who played Grey Worm, the only other major non-white character in the series,” she added. “We were always really conscious of how much our being part of Game of Thrones mattered to people. It made us really protective of Missandei and Grey Worm.”

  • 'Killing Eve' Season 4 Put on Hold Amid Rumors of Sandra Oh's Reluctance to Film in Europe

    AMC

The production on the next installment of ‘Killing Eve’ has been halted indefinitely as the ongoing coronavirus pandemic disrupted the filming schedule in Europe.
    Jul 26, 2020
AceShowbiz – Filming on “Killing Eve” season four has reportedly been postponed indefinitely as the complicated European shooting schedule is unworkable during the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to Deadline.com, bosses at production firm Sid Gentle Films were originally aiming to start filming a new series of the hit espionage show next month (Aug20), but plans have now been abandoned.
The reported reason for the delay is the show’s need for various European location shoots, which in the past have taken place in the Netherlands, Spain, Romania, and Italy.
A spokesperson for the show explained, “Killing Eve shoots across multiple European locations. Due to the uncertainty of the world as a result of Covid-19, no shooting schedules for Killing Eve season four have been locked in at this point and there are various scenarios in play.”
A source close to the show also downplayed rumours Sandra Oh, who plays title character Eve Polastri, has been reluctant to fly into Europe to begin shooting.
The delay in filming the show, which also stars Jodie Comer as assassin Villanelle, is thought to make it likely to miss its expected spring 2021 premiere date

    AMC

The zombie apocalypse series is gearing up for the return to television in October for the highly-anticipated season 10 finale and ‘World Beyond’ premiere.
    Jul 26, 2020
AceShowbiz – The creators of cult zombie drama “The Walking Dead” have chopped up their schedule and announced new air dates after overhauling show plans amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The season 10 finale of the zombie apocalypse series, starring Norman Reedus, was originally due to air in April, but producers postponed the show as Hollywood shut down in response to COVID-19 crisis, and now showrunner Angela Kang has confirmed the episode will broadcast on 4 October (20).
“Obviously, COVID has kind of disrupted a lot of things for every workplace, including ours,” Angela said on Friday (24Jul20) in a pre-recorded video for the [email protected] event.
The producer also announced that season 11 will also be delayed for a year, with broadcast dates pushed back from this fall to 2021.
However, Angela revealed producers are adding more episodes to the show to make up for the delays, with writers already beginning to make progress on the next season while working remotely.
“We’ll have more to share soon,” the showrunner teased.
Meanwhile, “The Walking Dead” spin-off, “World Beyond”, now has a premiere date – it will debut after “The Walking Dead” season 10 finale on 4 October.

  • George Clooney Picks Up 'The Tender Bar' After Dropping 'Boys in the Boat'

    WENN

The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has forced the ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ actor to carefully pick his next project, choosing to direct ‘The Tender Project’ after abandoning ‘Boys in the Boat’
    Jul 26, 2020
AceShowbiz – George Clooney will visit “The Tender Bar” for his next directorial effort as COVID-19 complicates his other projects.
The star picked up the drama for the Amazon streaming platform shortly after wrapping production on Netflix sci-fi film “The Midnight Sky” in February (20), tabling another movie for MGM in favour of directing “The Tender Bar”.
But Deadline reports Clooney dropped “Boys in the Boat”, an adaptation of a book by Daniel James Brown about the 1936 University of Washington rowing team which won gold at the 1936 Olympics, because the complexity of shooting such a film during the pandemic became over-complicated due to health and safety guidelines.
George will also be producing “The Tender Bar” with his longtime business partner Grant Heslov under their Smokehouse banner.
“Hidden Figures” director Ted Melfi was originally booked to oversee the project for Sony, but when he became unavailable, Amazon bosses picked it up and offered the film to Clooney.
Based on the book by J.R. Moehringer, “The Tender Bar” centres upon a boy who searches for father figures at a local pub. William Monahan will write the script.
Meanwhile, Clooney’s upcoming apocalyptic movie “The Midnight Sky”, starring Felicity Jones and David Oyelowo, is currently in post-production and is expected to be released later this year.

  • Julie Bowen's Kids Keep Mistaking Her for Someone Else in Movies

    Instagram

The ‘Modern Family’ actress reveals she is mistaken for Sigourney Weaver by her twin sons after she and the kids watched 1999 sci-fi comedy ‘Galaxy Quest’ together.
    Jul 26, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Modern Family” star Julie Bowen’s kids are convinced mum had a big role in the film “Galaxy Quest”, and refuse to believe the role was really played by Sigourney Weaver.
The actress sat down to watch the 1999 sci-fi comedy with her twin boys ahead of appearing on cast member and pal Justin Long’s podcast, and had to keep explaining her secret identity is not Sigourney Weaver.
“They were blown away by it but when Sigourney Weaver came on, one of them looks at me and goes, ‘Mum, why didn’t you tell us you were in this movie?’ ” Julie explains. “She’s (Sigourney) got a wig and she’s got a square jaw, and I was like, ‘That is not me.’ And they were like, ‘Yeah, it’s not, sure mom…'”
It’s not the first time Julie and her kids have had identity troubles, though. At home there’s a giant poster from a film, in which she did appear – 1996 Adam Sandler comedy “Happy Gilmore” – but this time her sons refuse to believe it’s really her.
“In Ghana there are these movie clubs… and to advertise what they would be playing at the movie club that might, which was literally a TV in the back of some store, they would paint (posters) on these huge flour sacks (of) the most violent graphic scenes from the movie. And if there weren’t any, they would make them.”
“So I have a poster of Happy Gilmore…, where people are being killed and stabbed and there’s blood, there’s a monster and zombie – it’s fantastic. I think it’s a romantic golf comedy, a rom-com with golf. My fake (Modern Family) son Nolan Gould found it for me and gave it to me for my birthday.”
But Julie looks so unlike herself in the odd depiction of her character, Virginia, her kids think it’s someone else.
“On the movie poster I am portrayed roughly (and) they’re like, ‘That’s not you!’ I have, like, a Beyonce body, I have this itty bitty waist, and this giant a**… And they don’t really think that’s me. It’s pretty good!”

  • Alison Brie Says Her Show 'Glow' Will Remain on Hiatus Until Coronavirus Health Crisis Is Over

    Netflix

The Zoya the Destroya depicter believes her Netflix series won’t resume filming anytime soon amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic because it’s ‘a really physical show.’
    Jul 25, 2020
AceShowbiz – Alison Brie isn’t confident her hit Netflix series “GLOW” will resume filming anytime soon.
The star appears as Ruth ‘Zoya the Destroya’ Wilder in the female wrestling series and, due to the physical contact involved in the series, the star told People it will likely be a while before the cast reunites and starts filming again.
“We’re a really physical show,” she shared. “When we shut down, I was in a wrestling ring and was in mid-sweat on another person as we were gearing up to shoot a match. We definitely taste each other’s sweat fairly often.”
Alison added that, while they did manage to film two episodes for the upcoming final season, they’ll still probably be one of the last shows to start up again.
“I don’t think we want to compromise creatively, given that it’s our final season,” she explained. “So I don’t think we’re going to be one of the first shows going back.”

  • 'Fantastic Beasts' Stars Strictly Banned From Taking Movie Props Home as Keepsakes

    Warner Bros. Pictures

Dan Fogler jokingly believes Daniel Radcliffe must have made it his habit to swipe props from ‘Harry Potter’ movie set, prompting producers to place strict security measures for the spin-off.
    Jul 25, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Fantastic Beasts” star Dan Fogler is building up a collection of his movie characters’ socks, because those were the only things he was allowed to keep as a souvenir after wrapping the first “Harry Potter” spin-off.
The actor reveals there were security cameras all over the set of 2016 film “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” to prevent cast and crew swiping props and costumes as keepsakes, and he was only allowed to take home his character Jacob Kowalski’s mismatched socks.
“I waited until the very end and went to Colleen Atwood, who is the costume master, and said, ‘Is there anything from the costume I could take, like a piece of cloth?'” he tells WENN. “She let me keep my socks, so I have my socks from the first movie and I have my socks from the second movie.”
“I’m making it a tradition, where I get my socks at the end (of a film). I only bring them out for special occasions, like premieres. The first movie I had mismatching socks so that’s a hard one to wear out.”
Fogler is convinced the on-set security measures were put in place after the stars of the “Harry Potter” films pilfered props and costumes as the series wound down.
“The producers (of Fantastic Beasts) made a big deal about, ‘Don’t take any props, don’t take anything,’ ” he smiles. “I guess on Harry Potter, all the kids abused that rule. I think that Daniel Radcliffe has 27 different pairs of his glasses. He just was like, ‘I don’t know where I lost them… again’, and kept on stealing his glasses.”
“So when it got to us, there were cameras everywhere: ‘Don’t take a d**n thing…!’ Fantastic Beasts has trained me not to take anything unless it’s given to me.”

  • Chrishell Stause's Divorce From Justin Hartley Becomes Focus of 'Selling Sunset' Season 3 Trailer

    WENN/Avalon

The former ‘Days of Our Lives’ actress split from her ‘This Is Us’ star husband in 2019 with him listing July 8 as their date of separation in his divorce filing.
    Jul 25, 2020
AceShowbiz – “This Is Us” star Justin Hartley’s split from his ex-wife, Chrishell Stause, will be a big part of her Netflix reality show “Selling Sunset” when the third season launches next month (August).
A new trailer for the show, which dropped on Friday (July 24), focuses on the break-up with Stause announcing the news to her co-workers.
The revelation really upsets Chrishell’s castmate Christine Quinn, who was planning her wedding at the time.
Quinn, who got married in April, says on camera, “I really want to be excited for my wedding but obviously, it’s overshadowed by Chrishell’s divorce.”
During the trailer, former U.S. soap star Stause breaks down and through tears says, “The crazy way in which this went down, people want answers. I want answers.”

In a previous clip from May, Stause was filmed packing a suitcase, stating, “It’s just a lot all at once because everybody in the whole world knows. I love him so much. This was my best friend. Who do I talk to now?”
Hartley and Stause wed in October, 2017. He filed for divorce and cited irreconcilable differences in November (19), revealing the date of separation as 8 July (19). Chrishell has disputed the separation date.
“Selling Sunset” season three will premiere on Netflix on 7 August.
