Michael B. Jordan Responds to Black Superman Rumors

    WENN/Instar

The Erik Killmonger depicter in ‘Black Panther’ addresses speculation that he’s going to play a black Superman after it’s announced that J.J. Abrams and Ta-Nehisi Coates are developing a Man of Steel reboot.

    Apr 28, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Michael B. Jordan has finally spoken up on rumors that link him to an upcoming Superman movie. The actor has been touted by fans to play a black Superman after it was announced that J. J. Abrams and Ta-Nehisi Coates are developing a Man of Steel reboot.

Speaking to Jake’s Takes, the 34-year-old hunk admitted he was flattered by all the fans’ talks. “You hear the whispers and the rumors and stuff like that, it’s just a compliment. I appreciate people that think about me in that type of way for these roles,” he said while promoting his new movie “Without Remorse”.

Noting that nothing has been confirmed about his supposed role in the movie, he added, “I don’t really have anything more to kind of give on that, other than it’s just flattering and I appreciate it. Whoever they get and if it goes that way, I think it’ll be an interesting thing to see.”

Jordan gave similar response when talking to Cinepop about the upcoming Superman movie. “I don’t know what is really going on with [Black Superman] in particular. But everybody’s want and desire to see black leads and heroic roles is really important,” he said about the project being greenlit.

He continued sharing his two cents on the significance of a black superhero, “Representation is important… There’s so many opportunities with different IP, different properties, different characters that never got the light of day. And there are certain ones that should just be where they are. So let’s just see how things shake out.”

Abrams has been tapped to revamp the Superman franchise with Coates writing the script. The “Lost” co-creator said when the project was announced in February, “There is a new, powerful and moving Superman story yet to be told. We couldn’t be more thrilled to be working with the brilliant Mr. Coates to help bring that story to the big screen, and we’re beyond thankful to the team at Warner Bros. for the opportunity.”

Coates added, “To be invited into the DC Extended Universe by Warner Bros., DC Films and Bad Robot is an honor. I look forward to meaningfully adding to the legacy of America’s most iconic mythic hero.”

There is no word on plot details and casting, but The Hollywood Reporter said that the aim is for a black Superman to be introduced, something which Jordan had pitched back in 2019. Henry Cavill has played the last iteration of Superman, with him reprising his role in “Zack Snyder’s Justice League”.

    AceShowbiz –
Rockers KISS are heading to TV as the subjects of a new docuseries.

“Biography: KISStory” will revisit the “Rock & Roll All Nite” hitmakers through the years, and feature interviews with band co-founders Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, as well as current members Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer, rock peers Dave Grohl and Tom Morello, and former manager Doc McGhee.

Home movie footage, original recording sessions and behind-the-scenes tales will also be included in the four-hour, two part show, which will be directed by D.J. Viola for America’s A&E network, reports Deadline.

It will be produced by Leslie Greif, who previously worked on the network’s reality show, “Gene Simmons Family Jewels”.

In a statement, A&E executive Elaine Frontain Bryant writes, “Through the Biography lens we are able to give fans a backstage pass to a two-night event that honors the legacy of the rock icons behind KISS.”

“This documentary event is a special tribute to a one-of-a-kind band and the incredible Kiss Army fanbase that has idolized them for generations.”

“Biography: KISStory” will launch on June 27.

News of the TV documentary emerges just days after it was reported that director Joachim Ronning’s KISS movie biopic, titled “Shout It Out Loud”, is poised to head to streaming service Netflix. The project, which script is written by Ole Sanders based on an earlier draft done by William Blake Herron, has Simmons and Stanley serving as executive producers.

The biopic will follow Simmons and Stanley from the time they were only two misfit kids from Queens to the formation of their legendary band as they recruited guitarist Ace Frehley and drummer Peter Criss. It is aspired to serve KISS what “Bohemian Rhapsody” did for Queen.

Rachel Bilson Open to 'The O.C.' Reboot: It Would Be Awesome

    WENN

The Summer Roberts depicter would love to reprise her onscreen role and reunite with her TV co-stars for a possible reboot of her hit drama television series.

    Apr 28, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Rachel Bilson would love a reboot of her hit drama series “The O.C.”

The actress starred as Summer Roberts in the hit show – which originally ran between 2003 and 2007 – and Rachel has expressed her interest in joining a reboot of the show.

She shared, “I know we talked about definitely getting together personally, as a reunion … all of us getting together. I think we have spoken to some already, everyone’s on board for that.”

“But a reboot would be awesome. I think that’s in the hands of (creators and executive producers) Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. There’s still a ways to go, so maybe they’ll figure it out! That’d be fun.”

      See also…

Despite the show’s success, Rachel doesn’t actually have many vivid memories of the series, but she’s been watching old episodes and feels as though she’s been “discovering” it for the first time.

She told Entertainment Tonight, “I’ve learned that I actually have zero memory and don’t remember most of the things that happened on this show. So I’m kind of going through this with everyone else, re-watching it, discovering it.”

“I wouldn’t even say rediscovering it, (I’m) discovering it for the first time!”

If “The O.C.” is revived, it will join a number of classic television shows which have been rebooted in the past few years. They included “MacGyver”, “Fuller House”, “Charmed”, “The X-Files”, “Saved by the Bell”, “Punky Brewster”, and “Gossip Girl”.

Patrick Dempsey to Show Off Singing Skills in 'Enchanted' Sequel

    WENN

The former ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ actor is set to show his vocal abilities for the upcoming movie ‘Disenchanted’, marking the first time ever he sings in a feature film.

    Apr 28, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Patrick Dempsey will show off his vocal abilities in the upcoming sequel to “Enchanted”.

The actor has been tapped to star in “Disenchanted”, and the flick will mark the star’s first public singing gig of his entire career, he has confirmed.

“I will be singing for the first time. I’ve never ever sung publicly – for a reason,” he told Variety. “So bear with me.”

But Patrick hopes “fans embrace it,” adding, “But they’ve set me up for success and the lyrics are really fun. The numbers have really great choreography. And the premise is going to be interesting.”

Patrick, Amy Adams, and James Marsden are returning for the movie along with Idina Menzel – who he insists he won’t be duetting with.

“I don’t sing with her,” he stated before teasing there are “a lot of cool numbers in this.”

Maya Rudolph, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Jayma Mays are the latest performers to join the cast of the Disney+ sequel, with sources telling Deadline the trio will play villains.

During the interview, Patrick Dempsey also talked about his “Grey’s Anatomy” return, calling it a “beautiful way” to leave the show.

The actor – who played Derek ‘McDreamy’ Shepherd in the hit TV series – recently made a surprise return to the show, when Dr. Meredith Grey dreamed of herself and Derek finally having their wedding on a beach, but Patrick has suggested he won’t be making another comeback.

      See also…

He shared, “I thought it was a beautiful way to close it. The intention was to really give people some hope because they are such an iconic couple.”

“We’ve lost so many people this year, the thought that we’d have angels hovering around us taking care of us is a good message to send out in such a bleak world that we’re living in. So for all of us, it was a beautiful ending to this story.”

“I’m so grateful that I did it and happy that the fans really loved it.”

Patrick and Ellen Pompeo – who plays Meredith – used his comeback to highlight the importance of wearing a mask amid the coronavirus pandemic.

And the actor admitted that shooting his final scenes was an emotional experience, telling Variety, “We all cried at the beginning and we hugged each other.”

“It was really for us to get the message out there to wear a mask, take care of yourself. Ellen and I were like, ‘What can we do together to make some impact here?’ ”

“That was in the spring around this time last year. It just was a positive action that reverberates into more positive action.”

Asked if there’s another scenario in which he could make a comeback, Patrick replied, “Who knows? Never say never with this show, right?”

“I’m glad we did it this year. And Krista Vernoff did a fantastic job telling the story. It was just a great way to give people some hope.”

Elon Musk's 'SNL' Hosting Gig Met With Criticisms From Cast Members

    WENN

Bowen Yang, Aidy Bryant, and Andrew Dismukes make it clear that they are not impressed by the hiring of the Tesla CEO as a host for the upcoming ‘Saturday Night Live’ episode.

    Apr 28, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Elon Musk’s “Saturday Night Live” appearance has upset some cast members.

The Tesla CEO recently confirmed he will be the first non-actor or non-athlete since 2015 to host the comedy sketch show on 8 May (21) alongside Miley Cyrus.

He wrote on Twitter, “Let’s find out just how live ‘Saturday Night Live’ really is.”

However, his upcoming gig has left a number of the “SNL” cast feeling frustrated, with Bowen Yang writing on Instagram, “What the f**k does this even mean. (sic)”

      See also…

Aidy Bryant echoed Yang’s concerns and shared a tweet by Bernie Sanders, reading, “The 50 wealthiest people in America today own more wealth than the bottom half of our people.”

“Let me repeat that, because it is almost too absurd to believe: the 50 wealthiest people in this country own more wealth than some 165 MILLION Americans. That is a moral obscenity. (sic)”

Andrew Dismukes also questioned the decision to hire the businessman. Referencing former SNL star Cher-E Oteri, he said, “Only CEO I wanna do sketch with is Cher-E Oteri.”

Their posts have since been deleted, but they’re not the only ones unhappy with the decision, as fans have taken to social media to share their outrage about Musk’s upcoming appearance.

“Elon Musk hosting SNL is huge for guys still making ‘that’s what she said’ jokes who think they’d be great at hosting SNL,” said one, while a second added, “There really was nobody else available to host SNL? Elon Musk? Why?”

Dolph Lundgren Slapped With Lawsuit Over Blown Documentary Deal

    Instagram

British filmmaker Chee Keong Cheung seeks to take ‘The Expendables’ star to court for a breach of contract, claiming that the latter went back on his words on a project chronicling a year in his life.

    Apr 27, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Action star Dolph Lundgren is facing legal action for allegedly reneging on a deal to take part in a “fly-on-the-wall” documentary just before the project was complete.

British filmmaker Chee Keong Cheung has filed court papers in Los Angeles accusing “The Expendables” star of breach of contract, after entering an agreement to chronicle a year in the life of the actor in January 2020.

According to the suit, filed on Friday, April 23 and obtained by the New York Post, the deal was made directly between the two parties, without the involvement of representatives, with Lundgren allowing Cheung and his team to capture his every move on camera.

As part of their contract, Cheung would recoup his costs, and then split all revenues from the documentary with Lundgren.

      See also…

However, after accumulating more than 100 hours of material, Lundgren’s manager got in touch with Cheung in October 2020 and claimed the martial arts star had changed his mind about the documentary, instead wanting to work on a similar project with a team from Canada’s Score G. Productions.

The actor subsequently refused to continue shooting with Cheung, “As a result, Cheung was denied the benefit of the bargain he struck with Lundgren, denied the opportunity to profit from the year of work he devoted to the documentary, and left holding the bag on all the costs,” his lawyers state in the filing.

Now the filmmaker is taking Lundgren to court, and demanding a trial by jury.

The pair originally met in 2015 on the set of upcoming movie “Malevolence”, which Cheung co-wrote and Lundgren directed.

Representatives for Lundgren have yet to comment on the legal battle.

Rhys Ifans, Olivia Cooke, Matt Smith, Paddy Considine, Steve Toussaint and Emma D’Arcy are among those joining the social distancing reading for the ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel series.

    Apr 27, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
HBO bosses have confirmed production on the “Game of Thrones” prequel, “House of the Dragon”, is underway by sharing photos of the cast at a reading.

On Monday, April 26, a few photos from the table reading were released via the series’ official Twitter account. The first one saw its stars practicing social distancing during the session. Along with the first image, it was tweeted, “Fire will reign. The @HBO original series #HouseoftheDragon is officially in production. Coming soon to @HBOMax in 2022.”

George R.R. Martin, Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik’s epic will debut sometime next year (2022) and feature Paddy Considine, Olivia Cooke, Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Fabien Frankel, Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, and Sonoya Mizuno, who all feature in new press shots.

    ‘House of Dragon’ started production.

“House of the Dragon” is based on George R.R. Martin’s book “Fire & Blood.” It will tell the story of House Targaryen, the ancestors of Emilia Clarke’s character, Daenerys Targaryen. Miguel Sapochnik and Ryan Condal will share the showrunner duties. The former will serve as the pilot and additional episodes’ director.

The drama takes place 300 years before the events of “Game of Thrones”. Considine leads the cast as King Viserys Targaryen, supported by Cooke as Alicent Hightower, and D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. Toussaint, in the meantime, will tackle The Sea Snake, Smith will portray Prince Daemon Targaryen, Ifans will be seen as Otto Hightower, and Frankel landed the role of Ser Criston Cole.

Cole is a member of King Viserys I Targaryen’s Kingsguard. He was described by Martin in a post on his blog, as a knight whose bold actions helped pave the way to civil war. “He is the common-born son of the steward to the Lord of Blackhaven,” the author teased. “He has no claim to lands or titles, all he has is his honor and his skill with sword and lance.”

'Another Round' Director Weighs In on Leonardo DiCaprio Doing English Language Remake

    WENN/Adriana M. Barraza

Thomas Vinterberg, who won Best International Film with the dramedy at the 2021 Oscars, touched many with his acceptance speech which he dedicated to his late daughter.

    Apr 27, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Thomas Vinterberg’s acclaimed movie “Another Round” is on the fast track for a Hollywood English-language remake a day after it scored the Best International Film prize at the 2021 Oscars.

The project has been picked up by Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way production company as a possible starring vehicle for “The Revenant” star. He is likely to play the role Mads Mikkelsen took on in the film about four middle-aged teacher friends, who decide to test a theory that life is best lived in a permanent state of mild intoxication.

DiCaprio and his partners outbid Jake Gyllenhaal’s Nine Stories and Elizabeth Banks for the rights to Vinterberg’s film, according to Deadline.

The director gave one of the most touching acceptance speeches at the Academy Awards when he dedicated the Best International Film win to his late daughter Ida, who was set to play the daughter of Mikkelsen’s character when she was killed in a car crash.

“We wanted to make a film that celebrates life,” the 51-year-old Danish filmmaker said. “We ended up making this movie for her, it’s her monument.” He then gave a shout-out to his late daughter, “You’re part of this miracle. Maybe you’ve been pulling some strings somewhere.”

While news of “Another Round” remake was met with mixed reaction, Vinterberg explained to IndieWire why he looks forward to it. “I’ve seen various interpretations of my work before,” he pointed out. “It’s an interesting artistic thing to see something grow into different versions.”

“Now it’s in the hands of the finest actor you can get and besides being a brilliant actor, he’s made very intelligent choices throughout his career,” the director continued. “I feel there’s a lot of integrity in the choices he’s made. I’m full of hope and curiosity about what they’re up to.”
