  • 'The Masked Singer' Keeps Nick Cannon as Host as He Issues Public Apology for Anti-Semitic Comments

    FOX

The radio/TV personality has taken to Twitter to extend his ‘deepest and most sincere apologies to my Jewish sisters and brothers for the hurtful and divisive words’ he made.
    Jul 16, 2020
AceShowbiz – Nick Cannon has apologized for his controversial remarks he made in an episode of “Cannon’s Class” about “barbaric” and “savage” white people. Taking to his Twitter account on Wednesday, July 15, Nick extended his “deepest and most sincere apologies to my Jewish sisters and brothers for the hurtful and divisive words that came out of my mouth during my interview with Richard Griffin.”
“They reinforced the worst stereotypes of a proud and magnificent people and I feel ashamed of the uninformed and naive place that these words came from. The video of this interview has since been removed,” he went on saying. “While the Jewish experience encompasses more than 5,000 years and there is so much I have yet to learn, I have had at least a minor history lesson over the past few days and to say that it is eye-opening would be a vast understatement.”
In another tweet, “The Masked Singer” host added that he wanted “to express my gratitude to the Rabbis, community leaders and institutions who reached out to me to help enlighten me, instead of chastising me.”
Concluding his series of tweets, the ex-husband of Mariah Carey assured his “Jewish friends, new and old, that this is only the beginning of my education.” Nick, who was fired from comedy series “Wild ‘n Out” by ViacomCBS due to the controversy, added that he’s “committed to deeper connections, more profound learning and strengthening the bond between our two cultures today and every day going forward.”

Nick Cannon formally apologized for his controversial comments.
He then explained in a separate tweet, “On my podcast I used words & referenced literature I assumed to be factual to uplift my community instead turned out to be hateful propaganda and stereotypical rhetoric that pained another community For this I am deeply sorry but now together we can write a new chapter of healing.”

Nick is sorry for paining another community.
In related news, “The Masked Singer” released a statement on Wednesday that it will continue to hold his post as host of the FOX show. “When we were made aware of Nick Cannon’s interview with Richard Griffin on YouTube, we immediately began a dialogue with Nick,” the statement read. “He is clear and remorseful that his words were wrong and lacked both understanding and context, and inadvertently promoted hate.”
“This was important for us to observe. Nick has sincerely apologized, and quickly taken steps to educate himself and make amends. On that basis and given a belief that this moment calls for dialogue, we will move forward with Nick and help him advance this important conversation, broadly,” the statement continued. “FOX condemns all forms of hate directed toward any community and we will combat bigotry of any kind.”

  • Vivica A. Fox Teases 'Empire' Movie for Finale, Would Love to Have Jussie Smollett Back

    FOX

The Candace Mason depicter hints at an ‘off the chain’ script for the upcoming feature-length finale of the FOX hit drama series and would love to welcome back an alum.
    Jul 16, 2020
AceShowbiz – Vivica A. Fox hinted “Empire” fans can expect a feature-length finale once the coronavirus crisis is over.
The 18th episode of the sixth season of the show served as its finale back in April (20) after the pandemic cut the show short when production was halted.
However, according to Fox, show bosses are planning one final instalment to round out the hip-hop drama, with the star telling U.S. TV show “Extra”, “That last script is going to be off the chain.”
“I’m hoping once coronavirus is over, we can get a two-hour finale movie of Empire for the fans,” she revealed, confirming the idea had been discussed.
“Absolutely… Lee Daniels, who is the creator of the show, mentioned it and said the fans would welcome that with open arms,” she smiled.
The star also reiterated comments that she’d welcome back actor Jussie Smollett, who was axed from the show after he was accused of faking a police report about a racist attack outside his Chicago, Illinois apartment last year.
“Oh, listen, we love Jussie. Jussie will always be family,” Fox insisted. “The fans miss Jussie. I would welcome him back if we did the finale, absolutely.”

  • Nick Cannon Demands Ownership of 'Wild 'N Out' After Firing, Diddy Offers New Home at Revolt TV

    WENN

The ‘Masked Singer’ host receives support from the Bad Boy mogul as he is seeking for ‘full ownership’ of his rap comedy series after he was fired by ViacomCBS.
    Jul 16, 2020
AceShowbiz – Sean “Diddy” Combs has offered Nick Cannon a job at his network after the TV and radio personality was fired by bosses at ViacomCBS for racist remarks he made during a podcast chat.
The executives severed links with “The Masked Singer” host on Tuesday (14Jul20) after he called white people “savages” and “a little less” than darker-skinned people, during a chat with Public Enemy star Professor Griff on his show, “Cannon’s Class”.
He also suggested white-skinned people act “evil” and “rob, steal, rape, kill in order to survive” due to the fact they are not as strong as their black brothers and sisters.
His comments led to a storm of backlash and ViacomCBS executives’ decision to fire him, which prompted Cannon to release a statement, which read, “Anyone who knows me knows that I have no hate in my heart nor malice intentions (sic). I do not condone hate speech nor the spread of hateful rhetoric. We are living in a time when it is more important than ever to promote unity and understanding…”
“In today’s conversation about anti-racism and social justice, I think we all – including myself – must continue educating one another and embrace uncomfortable conversations – it’s the only way we ALL get better.”
“Until then, I hold myself accountable for this moment and take full responsibility because My intentions are only to show that as a beautiful human species we have way more commonalities than differences, So let’s embrace those as well as each other. We All Family (sic)!”
Cannon, who admits he is “deeply saddened” by the decision to terminate his contract, now may have found a new home at Revolt TV – the company run by Diddy.
The rap mogul and entrepreneur took to Twitter as the news of Cannon’s drama hit the headlines on Wednesday morning and wrote, “@NickCannon come home to @REVOLTTV truly BLACK OWNED!!! We got your back and love you and what you have done for the culture. We are for our people first!!! For us! By US! Let’s go!!!”
Meanwhile, in his latest statement about his termination at ViacomCBS, Cannon claims, “The moment was stolen and highjacked to make an example of an outspoken black man.”
He goes on to reveal he will fight to take back “full ownership” of his “Wild ‘N Out” rap comedy series, because without his “leadership,” he’s convinced network bosses will “continue to misuse and destroy” the brand.

    WENN

The ‘One Tree Hill’ alum reveals she and husband Michael Caussin have auditioned to join Bravo’s reality TV show ‘The Real Housewives’ because they’re ‘weren’t doing anything else.’
    Jul 16, 2020
AceShowbiz – Jana Kramer auditioned for a regular role on reality TV series “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”.
The actress-turned-country music star revealed on an episode of her podcast, “Whine Down with Jana Kramer and Michael Caussin”, that she has auditioned to join the cast the show.
In a chat with “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” stars Joe and Melissa Gorga about filming during the coronavirus, she revealed, “I was going to say something, but I wasn’t sure if I could say it.”
“We might have auditioned for a certain ‘Housewives’ thing, but we haven’t heard back yet.”
Despite the audition, Kramer said she’s a bit apprehensive of joining the cast, admitting, “I would be so afraid that we’d be eaten alive and spit out and then like canceled the next day.”
“You’ll be so cute and loved and real,” Melissa responded as the former “One Tree Hill” star confessed she auditioned because she and Mike “weren’t doing anything else” while in lockdown.
“We haven’t heard anything, so I’m like maybe we were just boring people,” Jana laughed.
Despite the pair living in Nashville, Tennessee, both Jana and Mike insisted they were happy to relocate if cast on the show, with Mike explaining they had lived in the area before they moved.
“Teddi (Mellencamp) is a friend, but I have not heard anything, so I’m sure it’s not going any further,” Jana confessed, despite saying the audition in May “went good,” “I get hated on a lot because I’m very sarcastic. I wouldn’t want to filter myself too much… I have a hard time with criticism and I don’t know how I could handle that.”

  • Report: 'RHOA' to Begin Production on New Season This Month

    Bravo

According to a new report, the production of upcoming season 13 of the hit Bravo reality series will begin in July as the safe filming procedure amid Coronavirus pandemic is being finalized.
    Jul 16, 2020
AceShowbiz – will start filming for new season soon. If a new report is to be believed, the production of season 13 of the Bravo reality series will begin in July despite Coronavirus pandemic.
A source claims to TheJasmineBrand that the details of how the production will proceed to keep everyone safe amidst the COVID-19 pandemic is still being finalized. The show previously filmed its season 12 reunion special virtually to avoid spreading the spread of the novel virus.
The new season of “RHOA” will not feature Eva Marcille, who announced her exit back in June. Eva, who joined the show for two seasons, explained at the time “I have a six-year-old daughter and two young boys still in diapers. They’re 24-hours a day, and there’s a lot of work to be done. So I decided to spend my time and energy focusing on my kids and my community, and not so much reality show business.”
Later, she provided more details in an official statement which read, “I appreciate the bond of friendship that I have made with several of my cast mates and the strong personal relationships I have with numerous executives and producers at the Bravo and Truly Entertainment companies.”
Eva went on saying, “I am thankful for the opportunity I was provided, however, after speaking with my family and representatives, I believe that what I hope to accomplish for the culture and community will be better served by focusing on other opportunities.”
Cast member NeNe Leakes was also rumored to be not returning for season 13 with Mo’Nique replacing her. However, NeNe’s team denied the rumors, “It is absolutely not true that Nene has been fired from ‘RHOA’. Furthermore, it was made abundantly clear prior that she will always be welcome on the series as long as she wants to be.”
The comedian also shut down the speculations. “No, my sweet babies. I am not doing ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’,” she explained. “In my humble opinion, Nene Leakes is irreplaceable. Nene Leakes is the ‘Housewives of Atlanta’ if you ask me, baby. That’s been 13 years so, no I am not joining the cast. I respect all of those sisters they do what they do.”

  • 'AGT' Recap: Heidi Klum Returns as Final Season 15 Auditions Continue From Home

    NBC

The auditions of season 15 of the NBC show are suspended after 9 days due to the coronavirus pandemic, leading the competition to continue with at-home auditions.
    Jul 15, 2020
AceShowbiz – “America’s Got Talent” returned with a new episode on Tuesday, July 14 for final season 15 auditions. It started normally in the studio, sans an audience, with judges Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara and Howie Mandel witnessing the contestants perform in person. As for Heidi Klum, she was still at home due to health reason.
Kicking off the show was Alex Hooper, who was booed off the stage when he performed two seasons ago. Now, he offered a much improved performance, much to the judges’ liking. Following it up was The Lightwave Theater Company, who took the stage with their lifesize puppetry. Sofia loved it and called it “very special.”

Singer Kameron Ross then sang “Red Dirt Road” but Simon stopped him midway his performance to ask him sing a capella. It was much better and Kameron moved on to the next round. John Austin later gave a bizarre yet interesting performance. First, it looked like he was just saying gibberish, but when it was played in reverse, it turned out that he was singing “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”. Howie gave him a standing ovation. While Simon didn’t dig into it, Sofia sent John to the next round with a second yes.

Chicken Scratch Sam brought laugh to the studio as he walked out in a full chicken costume. Howie praised him, saying that he was “so funny and silly and brilliant.” He moved on after Sofia gave him a yes. Also going to the next round was stand-up comedian John Hastings.

The Ninja Twins hit the stage to perform synchronized dancing and singing, but it wasn’t Simon’s cup of tea. However, Sofia and Howie liked it so they went through to judge cuts. Performing Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts”, Jefferson Davis High marching band awed the judges. Meanwhile, Siena Uremovic stunned the judges as she flaunted her dancing and acrobatic skills while blindfolded. She headed to judge cuts.

A singer, who later revealed that his name is Sheldon Riley, sang an incredible rendition of Billie Eilish’s “Idontwannabeyouanymore”. Unsurprisingly, he moved to the judge cuts.

The auditions of “AGT” were then suspended after 9 days due to the coronavirus pandemic. The competition continued with at-home auditions while Heidi finally returned after missing the show for a few weeks. Jul 15, 2020
AceShowbiz – Jennifer Grey is returning to her most famous role as the star and executive producer of a possible new “Dirty Dancing” movie.
Studio bosses at Lionsgate are keeping the plot and details of the project close to their chests, but they are not denying the film will be a new take on the beloved 1987 movie, in which Grey played an awkward, naive teenager looking for love during a summer vacation camp.

  • Idris Elba Is Against Censoring 'Racist' Contents on TV

    WENN

The ‘Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom’ actor says problematic contents should be accompanied with a warning instead of being censored or pulled out of television.
    Jul 15, 2020
AceShowbiz – Idris Elba has called on TV networks to avoid censoring shows with “racist” content, and instead introduce a rating system to educate viewers on outdated practices. In the wake of Black Lives Matter protests against systematic racism worldwide, sitcoms including “Little Britain”, which see stars Matt Lucas and David Walliams use blackface make-up in some sketches, were recently dropped from on demand services including Netflix.
“Golden Girls”, “The Office”, “Scrubs”, and “30 Rock” are among the shows that have also been impacted.
However, speaking to Radio Times magazine, Idris insisted he’s “very much a believer in freedom of speech,” and called on executives to introduce a ratings system warning viewers that a film or show has outdated, insulting viewpoints.
While not referring to a specific programme, he said, “To mock the truth, you have to know the truth. But to censor racist themes within a show, to pull it… I think viewers should know that people made shows like this.”
“Commissioners and archive-holders pulling things they think are exceptionally tone-deaf at this time – fair enough and good for you,” the star continued. “But I think, moving forward, people should know that freedom of speech is accepted, but the audience should know what they’re getting into.”
“I don’t believe in censorship,” the “In the Long Run” actor added. “I believe that we should be allowed to say what we want to say. Because, after all, we’re story-makers.”
During the chat, Idris also suggested that boosting diversity needs a change in attitude, reflecting, “Money helps… (But) it’s a shift in attitude, in perspective, in tolerance. And you can’t put an amount on that.”
