  • Netflix Movie '365 Days' Slammed for 'Glamorizing Sex Trafficking'

    Netflix

Sexual assault survivor Duffy has written an open letter to the bosses at the streaming giant, criticizing the movie about a victim who’s forced to love her kidnapper under duress.
    Jul 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – Duffy has urged Netflix bosses to use their influence “more responsibly” after slamming the movie “365 Days” for “glamorising sex trafficking.”
The “Mercy” singer, who recently disclosed her own experience of being raped, drugged, and kidnapped, penned a letter to Reed Hastings, the CEO of Netflix, appealing for the streaming giant and production company to use its influence “more responsibly.”
In the letter, she claims the Polish movie – about a woman who falls victim to a mafia boss, who imprisons her and gives her one year to fall in love with him – treats “the serious crime of kidnapping and sex trafficking” as “erotic entertainment.”
“I encourage the millions who have enjoyed the movie to reflect on the reality of kidnapping and trafficking, of force and sexual exploitation, and of an experience that is the polar opposite of the glossy fantasy depicted,” she wrote.
The singer urges the Netflix chief to commit the company’s resources to creating content about the global problem of kidnapping and sex trafficking, which the United Nations calls a “grave violation of human rights.”
Duffy closes her letter to Hastings with the statement, “When we know better, let us do better.”
The British singer opened up about her horrifying experience in February (20), explaining that she hid away after an unidentified person drugged and raped her before holding her captive – and released a comeback track, “Something Beautiful”, the following month.
Last month, the star debuted her second song since relaunching her career, sharing a piano ballad called “River in the Sky” on Instagram.

Demi Lovato to Clear Up Rumors About Her Overdose in Upcoming Docu-Series

    Instagram

The ‘Skyscraper’ hitmaker is reportedly going to talk about the overdose, that almost took her life back in 2018, for the very first time in the upcoming YouTube series.
    Jul 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – Demi Lovato will reportedly open up on her 2018 overdose in her forthcoming YouTube series.
The “Confident” hitmaker spent two weeks recovering in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, followed by a stay in a rehab facility, after relapsing following six years of sobriety in July 2018.
After managing to get clean and return to her career, the star has now reportedly agreed to detail her experience in the new online series in an effort to quash speculation surrounding the incident.
A source told Britain’s The Sun newspaper, “Demi’s experience in 2018 was horrific and will continue to affect her for years to come, so she hasn’t felt able to speak about it properly yet.”
“But she has written much of her upcoming album about the situation and wants to address exactly what happened to her in the hope she can prevent anyone else suffering a similar experience.”
Adding the star has been “nervous about speaking about what happened because she doesn’t want anything to be misconstrued,” the insider claimed Demi, “Decided her own series would be the best way as she will have the power to control exactly what is spoken about.”
“Much of it has already been done and the plan is for it to be released this summer,” they revealed.
The deal has apparently been overseen by manager Scooter Braun, who was behind Justin Bieber’s YouTube series, Seasons, earlier this year (20), which supported his chart-topping album “Changes”.
WENN has reached out to Demi’s representatives for comment.

AMC Insists to Keep 'Mad Men' Blackface Episode to Maintain 'Historical Authenticity'

    AMC

Bosses at AMC have refused to delete the controversial episode featuring one of the characters in blackface, claiming the scene is crucial to preserve the ‘historical authenticity.’
    Jul 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – AMC bosses won’t be pulling a controversial episode of “Mad Men”, featuring blackface from the network, in an effort to maintain “historical authenticity.”
According to the Los Angeles Times, the episode in question – season three’s “My Old Kentucky Home” – will be shown in its entirety, along with trigger warning ahead of the programme, warning it contains “disturbing images related to race in America.”
“One of the characters is shown in blackface as part of an episode that shows how commonplace racism was in America in 1963,” it reads.
In a statement explaining the decision, AMC officials wrote, ” In its reliance on historical authenticity, the series producers are committed to exposing the injustices and inequities within our society that continue to this day so we can examine even the most painful parts of our history in order to reflect on who we are today and who we want to become.”
“We are therefore presenting the original episode in its entirety.”
Shows including “30 Rock”, “Golden Girls”, “Scrubs”, and more have been pulled from various networks and streaming services due to episodes featuring blackface in the wake of ongoing Black Lives Matter protests against systematic racism.
Mad Men stars Jon Hamm and January Jones and ran from 2007 to 2015.

    Universal Pictures

The Owen Grady depicter reveals in a video chat with a fan, who nabbed the chance after donating to the All In Challenge, that he’s recently returned to London to film the new ‘Jurassic World’ sequel.
    Jul 2, 2020
AceShowbiz – Chris Pratt is back to work after months in quarantine due to the coronavirus pandemic. The actor revealed during a video chat with a fan that he recently returned to London to resume the filming of “Jurassic World: Dominion”.
“I’m doing well,” Pratt told his fan Terry, who also won a role in the upcoming “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” sequel. “I’m back in London currently. We’re back in production on ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’.”
Terry nabbed the rare chance to speak with Pratt after he donated to the All In Challenge. The charity is aimed to end food insecurity amid the pandemic. In addition to the call, he won a role in the potential blockbuster flick, where he will be “destroyed in the jaws of an animated dinosaur.”
“Congratulations to Terry our #AllInChallenge winner!” Pratt wrote along with the video which he shared on his Instagram page. “Watch me zoom bomb Terry, his wife Julie and daughter Kelsey as we all discuss his future as a Dino snack! Thanks Terry! And big ups to everyone who entered the sweepstakes. It’s been an honor to be part of the #AllInChallenge which has raised over $59 MILLION to help feed the hungry during this global crisis.”

The production on “Jurassic World: Dominion” had kicked off in February and moved to England in March, before it was shut down due to the coronavirus outbreak. To ensure the safety of all cast and crew members, the production is taking numerous precautions during filming, including having Your Doctor test all cast and crew before they started on the production. The private medical facility will also test the cast and crew at times throughout production, and they will also be antibody tested.
Bryce Dallas Howard will reprise her role as Claire Dearing, with some of the original cast of the “Jurassic Park” movies, including Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum, returning. Neill recently teased how much the original cast would be involved in the upcoming movie, telling Yahoo!, “We’re all the way through the film, Jeff, and me, and Laura.”
Jake Johnson, Omar Sy, Justice Smith and B.D. Wong also star in the film, which is directed by Colin Trevorrow. The movie is set for a June 21, 2021 release in the United States.
