The new project from the daughter of the King of Pop, titled “Unfiltered: Paris Jackson and Gabriel Glenn”, is set to debut via the online network next Tuesday, June 30, and the star dug out old footage of the “Billie Jean” hitmaker to tease the program.
“You see a kid grow up in the public eye, you forget that I am a human. I was against letting the world in because it wasn’t a choice. I wasn’t ready then. I feel like I’m ready now,” Paris explains, alongside the clips of her as a child at home with her father.

'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Scraps Four Episodes in Response to Black Lives Matter Protests

    NBC

When addressing the issue, series star Terry Crews confesses that he and his fellow cast members have had deep conversations and are adamant to use their platform in the best way possible.
    Jun 25, 2020
AceShowbiz – Hit U.S. TV show “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” has scrapped four new episodes following George Floyd’s death at the hands of police officers.
Floyd’s passing earlier this month sparked Black Lives Matter protests around the world, with questions once again arising about police brutality and system racism within the force.
While “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” has enjoyed huge success with its tales about the blundering New York police force, things are being considered more carefully in the wake of Floyd’s murder, with star Terry Crews admitting that bosses have already taken drastic steps to ensure the upcoming seventh season of the show doesn’t hit headlines for all the wrong reasons.
“(Showrunner Dan Goor) had four (new) episodes all ready to go and they just threw them in the trash. We have to start over. Right now we don’t know which direction it’s going to go in,” Crews told Deadline.
He added that he and his fellow castmembers have had “a lot of somber talks about it and deep conversations and we hope through this we’re going to make something that will be truly groundbreaking this year. We have an opportunity here, and we plan to use it in the best way possible.”

John Legend Pushes Hulu to Green Light Black Wall Street Series Amid Black Lives Matter Protests

    Instagram

The TV project, focusing on the Tulsa, Oklahoma community of Greenwood that was destroyed by race riots in 1921, had been developed by the ‘All of Me’ hitmaker along with Tika Sumpter.
    Jun 25, 2020
AceShowbiz – Singer/actor John Legend is lobbying streaming service officials at Hulu to reconsider optioning his planned Black Wall Street drama series because the topic couldn’t be more timely.
The “All of Me” hitmaker, who has also found success as a film and TV producer, had been developing the project with “Ride Along” actress Tika Sumpter back in 2016, with the series focusing on the Tulsa, Oklahoma community of Greenwood, one of America’s most famous affluent black neighborhoods in the early 20th century.
The area, nicknamed Black Wall Street, was destroyed by race riots in 1921, when more than 300 African-American locals were killed by racist white citizens. The massacre is still considered one of the most devastating in U.S. history.
Hulu bosses previously passed on the idea, but following the ongoing Black Lives Matter protests and calls for Hollywood executives to shine a light on stories about black history and culture, Legend is hoping they will revisit the pitch – and give it the green light.
“We had originally planned to do it with Hulu and then it didn’t get picked up, and we literally just wrote an email to our execs (sic) at Hulu like, ‘Yo, you need to pick this up!,’ ” the star shared on New York radio show “The Breakfast Club”.
“This is very relevant right now, and it needs to be told.”
Noting that the subject matter was recently referenced in the opening episode of the hit HBO show “Watchmen”, and is set to be explored in two separate upcoming documentaries – one by basketball ace LeBron James, and another by journalist Dream Hampton, an executive producer behind the “Surviving R. Kelly” docuseries, Legend added, “It’s important that we do a scripted drama for it as well… It was written but didn’t get picked up, so we’re gonna try to resuscitate that.”
Asked why the show wasn’t given a pilot order at the time, Legend mused, “I don’t know if they got it. I don’t think they understood how important the story was to the black community and how much it’s been a part of our folklore that we talk about with each other, and how important it is for us…”.
    [embedded content]
“(Now) I think a lot more white people are aware of how significant that moment was to us, and so I think they’ll give it a second look.”

'Game of Thrones' Author Plans 2021 Release of New 'A Song of Ice and Fire' Novel

    WENN

In an update to fans, George R.R. Martin credits self-isolation during the coronavirus pandemic for him making steady progress on his latest work, ‘The Winds of Winter’.
    Jun 25, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Game of Thrones” author George R.R. Martin is planning to finish his latest “A Song of Ice and Fire” novel by next year (21).
Fans of his books, and the hit HBO fantasy series based on them, have long been kept waiting for new installments, with the last, “A Dance with Dragons”, coming out in 2011 as the first season of the TV show aired.
However, in an update published on his blog, the 71-year-old novelist told fans the COVID-19 pandemic means he is making swift progress on the next book, “The Winds of Winter”, and plans to have it “done” in time for a trip to Wellington, New Zealand “next year.”
He wrote that he is working on the novel in “an actual cabin in the mountains” and is staying healthy by self-isolating during the coronavirus crisis.
Updating fans on his work, George added, “If nothing else, the enforced isolation has helped me write. I am spending long hours every day on THE WINDS OF WINTER, and making steady progress.”
“I finished a new chapter yesterday, another one three days ago, another one the previous week. But no, this does not mean that the book will be finished tomorrow or published next week. It’s going to be a huge book, and I still have a long way to go.”

The final series of the “Game of Thrones” TV show aired last year (19), with the TV series overtaking Martin’s books due to the long delay in completing “The Winds of Winter”.

Eiza Gonzalez 'Sorry and Ashamed' for Wearing Blackface on Telenovela

    Instagram

One of the resurfaced photos sees the 30-year-old actress wearing Blackface on the popular ‘Lola, Erase Una Vez’ telenovela, while the other features her sporting traditional Geisha attire and makeup.
    Jun 25, 2020
AceShowbiz – Eiza Gonzalez issues an apology after two insensitive photos of her have made their way out online. One of the photos saw the 30-year-old wearing Blackface on the popular “Lola, Erase Una Vez” telenovela, when she was just a teenager back in 2017. Addressing the matter, the actress showed remorse in her statement on Wednesday, June 24.
“I am deeply sorry and ashamed about having worn blackface makeup shown in the images circulating,” Eiza, who was rumored to be dating actor Timothee Chalamet, said of the images that resurfaced on Tuesday, June 23. “As a 15-year-old child actor on my first job in a Mexican telenovela, I was pressured against my will, and with no negotiating power, I could not advocate for myself in the situation. I wish I had the voice and knowledge then that I have now.”
In the other picture, Eiza was seen sporting traditional Geisha attire and makeup. Explaining the story behind the snap, she shared, “The other image in question is from a trip I took to Japan. According to my host, it is considered an intercultural exchange to dress up in their traditional clothing and makeup.”
“It is seen as an appreciation of their culture, however, I understand that out of context, this calls for a dialogue about contemporary cultural appropriation,” she added.
She continued, “As a Mexican woman and an immigrant, I have faced racism and ignorance throughout my life and career. I would never intentionally participate in anything that I knew would cause harm or distress to another person. More than gestures of apology, it is my responsibility to educate myself and use my voice to stand up for others. And again I deeply apologize for hurting anyone.”
The controversy arrived after Eiza sparked dating rumors with Timothee as she was snapped locking lips with the “Call Me by Your Name” star during their Mexico vacay. In a picture from the outing, the “Baby Driver” actress was photographed sitting in a lounge chair with her rumored boyfriend, who donned a red T-shirt and khaki shorts, leaning in to kiss her. Neither Eiza nor Timothee has commented on the speculations.

  • Serena Williams' Father Sued Over Will Smith Movie

    WENN

Richard Williams is slapped with a lawsuit by companies which claim to have bought the rights to his book before the ‘Bad Boys for Life’ actor began producing a biopic based on his life.
    Jun 25, 2020
AceShowbiz – Richard Williams, the father of tennis aces Serena Williams and Venus Williams, has been served with a lawsuit over a biopic about him. TW3 Entertainment and Power Move Multi Media filed the lawsuit in L.A. Superior Court on Tuesday, June 23, accusing Richard of breach of contract.
The companies claim that they bought the rights to Richard’s book “Black and White: The Way I See It” and life story back in 2017, before Will Smith began producing the movie starring himself as Serena’s father. In the docs, the plaintiffs state that the contract barred anyone else from making a movie based on Richard’s life.
“This case presents an unfortunate and tawdry situation: the cold and calculating misappropriation and interference with Plaintiffs’ intellectual property,” read the complaint. “Plaintiffs’ good faith and contractually protected efforts to bring an amazing story into visual art form were met with Defendants’ greed and disregard for Plaintiff’s existing rights.”
The lawsuit names Richard, his son and sometimes business partner Chavoita Lesane, Warner Bros. Entertainment, Will’s production company Overbrook Entertainmentand production company Star Thrower Entertainment as defendants. “Defendant Warner Bros. used Plaintiffs’ ideas and materials in ‘King Richard’, and such ideas and materials provide substantial value to Defendant,” the complaint continues to read.
TW3 and PMMM are now seeking “an injunction requiring all profits for any project using the Richard Williams Rights to be placed in trust for Plaintiffs’ benefit” in addition to unspecified damages from the big budget “King Richard” movie.
“King Richard” previously faced backlash over the casting of Will Smith as Richard Williams. The critics accused the filmmakers of colorism, believing that the role should go to a darker-skinned actor. “Colorism matters..love will Smith but there are other black actors for this role,” one tweeted at the time.
The film is said to focus on Serena and Venus’ father as he “overcame tremendous hardship, skepticism and his own troubled past to raise two of the game’s greatest players” despite lacking tennis background. It eyes a 2021 release date.
