Quavo and Takeoff Searching for Superstar With New Talent Show 'Step Up to the Mic'

    Instagram

Two of the Migos rappers will join a producer and a songwriter as judges as they are looking for talents with ‘the mamba mentality’ in a new online talent competition.
    May 31, 2020
AceShowbiz – Migos star Quavo is looking for a “superstar… (who’s) ready to work” with him on online entertainment platform Triller’s new talent competition “Step Up to the Mic”.
The 29-year-old hip-hop star will sit on the judging panel alongside groupmate TakeOff, producer Murda Beatz, and songwriter Starrah for the contest, which sees up-and-coming singers competing for a career-making prize package.
“I’m looking for a superstar,” the “Pick Up” hitmaker told the New York Post’s gossip column Page Six. “Someone who has the ambition, someone who’s willing to learn, but also knows what they bring to the table. Someone unique and real.”
The winning act will record an original hit song crafted by the judges, an accompanying music video, and receive a major record label and management deal of up to a year.
Sharing his advice for hopefuls, Quavo, real name Quavious Keyate Marshall, said, “They have to have that mamba mentality – RIP Kobe (Bryant) – and be ready to work.”
“Make sure your voice is as powerful as the ones spitting bars, and just no complaints,” he continued. “Sometimes, being a singer, even I complain – like, ‘My voice ain’t right today’ – but it’s really important to bring it every time with no excuses.”
Auditions for the show are available to watch online here. The top 30 contestants will be announced, and voting will begin on June 5, 2020.

Christie Brinkley's Daughter Blames Tone Deaf 'GMA' Interview on 'Editing'

    Instagram

Sailor Brinkley Cook is disappointed by ‘Good Morning America’ for focusing on her story as a teen growing up with her model mother instead of highlighting ‘the inspirational things’ she said.
    May 31, 2020
AceShowbiz – Model Sailor Brinkley Cook has apologised to fans and fellow body issue sufferers for the way her latest TV interview was presented.
Christie Brinkley’s daughter agreed to appear on “Good Morning America” for a segment on Friday, May 29, 2020 to talk about her struggles with body dysmorphia and anorexia after she was told the piece would be part of a hopeful segment about mental health, but she was far from happy with what she saw.
Sailor took to Instagram on Friday afternoon to distance herself from what she considered a “tone deaf” interview.
“I’m a little upset about the GMA piece that aired this morning,” she wrote. “I have nothing but respect for GMA and (correspondent) Deborah (Roberts), and have nothing negative to say about either one. But I wanted to set some things straight.”
“I understand that ‘comparisons to model mom’ and ‘eating disorder struggles’ are great taglines for click bait on news outlets, but when I agreed to do this interview I was under the impression that it would be in a positive light and would be inspirational. I ONLY agreed to do it during this awful time in America, because I thought it would be a small beacon of positivity for people who have dealt with the same things as me.”
“I want to sincerely apologize for the tone deafness of the interview… If I were in control of the editing, it would’ve been shown in a very different light and would’ve highlighted the inspirational things I said rather than the explanation of what I went through as a 15-year-old.”

Dylan McDermott Teases New TV Show With Ryan Murphy

    WENN

The ‘American Horror Story’ actor plots a new television project with Ryan Murphy and is confident that their collaboration will be ‘the funniest show of all time.’
    May 30, 2020
AceShowbiz – Dylan McDermott is planning yet another new show with TV mogul Ryan Murphy, in which he’ll play a former masseuse.
The actor has teamed up with Murphy for “American Horror Story” and his new show “Hollywood”, and now reveals there’s a TV comedy in the works featuring himself and Leslie Jordan.
McDermott offered a few clues about the comedy during a recent SAG Conversations interview and admitted he can’t wait for the coronavirus lockdown to end so he can get started on the untitled show.
“I love Ryan, we’re good friends and I’m very lucky to have someone like Ryan in my corner,” Dylan said. “Ryan is creating a show for myself and Leslie Jordan, which I think will be the funniest show of all time.”
“Leslie and I are great friends and he and I together is the odd couple. I think it’s a home run. I can’t wait to start that show. He’s the genius and will present it whatever it is. He did write something on his Instagram that I (my character) was a former masseuse. That’s all I know and it will be a comedy that’s for sure.”
McDermott will always be grateful he spotted Murphy’s talent early on when the writer/director created TV drama “Nip/Tuck”.
“I watched Nip/Tuck and I thought, ‘This guy is special. This guy is going places and I want to get on this train’,” the actor recalled. “I read the pilot for American Horror Story and I was like, ‘Whoa!’ I only felt that a couple of times in my life.”

Joseph Gordon-Levitt to Save Hijacked Plane in New Movie

    Augenschein Film

The ‘Looper’ actor is keen to be a part of the new movie ‘7500’ because there’s ‘a lot of improvisation on the part of the actors as well as on the part of the camera.’
    May 30, 2020
AceShowbiz – Joseph Gordon-Levitt has jumped on board a new hijack movie, in which he plays an unlikely hero.
In Oscar-nominated short film director Patrick Vollrath’s feature-length debut, “7500”, the actor portrays the co-pilot of a flight from Berlin, Germany to Paris, France, which is overrun by terrorists.
Gordon-Levitt tells WENN he took the role in part because he was intrigued by Vollrath’s decision to film the movie as an “improvisational exercise.”
“He explained how it involved a lot of improvisation on the part of the actors as well as on the part of the camera,” recalls Gordon-Levitt. “And letting the camera roll for 20, 30 or even 40 minutes at a time and just letting the actors become the characters and live the situation.”
Vollrath reveals he cast Gordon-Levitt as co-pilot Tobias because he was not an obvious action film hero. “I was very much looking for not Bruce Willis, not a Special Forces-trained guy who can use all his abilities to solve the situation,” the director explains.
“Tobias is an everyman who never expects to be in a situation like this and hopes he never will be – and then it happens. So he’s as overwhelmed as you or I would be. He had to be someone the audience likes from the moment he enters the cockpit. So we’re on his side even when he has to make some incredibly difficult decisions.”
Fortunately for Gordon-Levitt, the pilot in the film, played by German actor Carlo Kitzlinger, actually flew planes for Lufthansa for 20 years, so the American star had a seasoned technical adviser by his side, and the duo spent two weeks in flight simulators prior to filming.
The film is released via Amazon on June 19, 2020.

Sylvester Stallone Blames 'Rocky' for Him Losing Eyebrows for the Rest of His Life

    Chartoff-Winkler Productions

In ’40 Years of Rocky: The Birth of a Classic’, the actor known for his portrayal of Rocky Balboa recalls all the tests make-up artist Mike Westmore did to create every little thing about his character.
    May 30, 2020
AceShowbiz – Sylvester Stallone struggled to find the right look for his boxer character Rocky Balboa and lost his eyebrows in the process.
The movie icon has narrated a new documentary about the making of the classic 1976 film and in it he admits he and director John Avildsen went to extremes to create every little thing about the boxer character.
“Mike Westmore was the make-up artist and he would do all these tests which were great but I wound up not having any eyebrows left for the rest of my life,” Stallone explains in “40 Years of Rocky: The Birth of a Classic”. “One time he wanted Rocky to look very, very punchy and I thought, ‘Why don’t you glue my nose to the side of my face’, so they got this kind of colostomy bag of glue and it was so bad it looked like a cartoon; like I had run into a wall… We took things to kind of extremes.”
Stallone admits he had to fight for Rocky’s iconic hat: “That was a real bone of contention,” he adds. “No one wanted me to wear the hat. They wanted me to just be bareheaded.”
“There was a store there (in Philadelphia) and I bought that hat for, like, three bucks and I was like, ‘I want to wear the hat.’ The producer goes, ‘You can’t wear the hat because Gene Hackman wore one in French Connection.’ I said, ‘So that’s the end of hats? Hats are banned?’ I said it kind of topped off the character and so we had him use the hat.”
“I had never seen a hat like it. It was, like, this cheap felt cardboard hat but it just worked perfectly and I think made a great impression on the character.”
Stallone also recalls Avildsen taking video footage between takes, which annoyed the actor at the time – but now those films have helped piece together the making of a classic in Derek Wayne Johnson’s film, which will be released digitally next month (June).
“He was always in the background and he would drive me crazy taking these eight millimetre films,” the “Rocky” star laughs. “At the time I thought, ‘What a waste of film’, but I’m glad he did it because here we are.”
