Johnny Depp and Robert Pattinson's New Movie Ditches Theatrical Release Amid Pandemic

    AMBI

‘Waiting for the Barbarians’ which is directed by Ciro Guerra has ditched theatrical release for streaming platforms due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
    May 21, 2020
AceShowbiz – Johnny Depp and Robert Pattinson’s star-studded new movie has become the latest to skip a theatrical release and head straight for homes.
Samuel Goldwyn Films bosses have acquired the North American rights to director Ciro Guerra’s “Waiting for the Barbarians”, which also features Oscar winner Mark Rylance, Gana Bayarsaikhan, and Greta Scacchi, and they are planning to release the movie to digital platforms in August 2020.
Based on the novel by Nobel Prize-winning author J.M. Coetzee, who also adapted the screenplay, the movie follows a clash between a magistrate (Rylance) and a colonel (Depp) at a fictitious border settlement.
“It has been a great honour to work with this wonderful cast and passionate crew in bringing J.M. Coetzee’s masterpiece to the screen,” said Guerra in a statement to Deadline. “It is a timeless story that speaks volumes to our world today, and we’re very happy and excited to be finally bringing it to audiences in the U.S. through this partnership with Samuel Goldwyn Films.”
“Waiting For the Barbarians” will join the likes of “Scoob!”, “Trolls World Tour”, and “True History of the Kelly Gang” among the films released direct to on demand following the closure of cinemas due to the coronavirus crisis.

Lil Twist Calls 'GUHH' Co-Stars 'Fake' for Criticizing Show Over Alleged Fake Beefs

    Instagram

This arrives after Egypt Criss announces her exit from the WE tv reality series, saying, ‘I respect myself enough to walk away from anything that no longer serves me, grows me or makes me happy.’
    May 21, 2020
AceShowbiz – While most of “Growing Up Hip Hop” stars, including Romeo Miller and Egypt Criss, took to their respective social media accounts to call out the show’s producers, Lil Twist was not one of them. If anything, the rapper blasted his co-stars who accused the show’s producers of orchestrating drama for ratings.
Writing on his Twitter account, Twist stated on Tuesday, May 19, “Ima keep it 100 I find it kind of fake that NOW AFTER 5 SEASONS these people talking bout how they being portrayed… I ain’t even been on a full 2 seasons these producers don’t know me like they know y’all.. y’all been in business with these folk way longer than I have.”
In another tweet he said, “Tryna make it seem to the masses that this s**t is all scripted and written up to LOOK like the way it’s actually being shown.. LISTEN PEOPLE THIS S**T IS 100 percent real.. of course the producers gone do they job to keep up with what WE ARE giving them.. day after day….”
“So if it is fake…. why I don’t look like a weird a** crybaby that’s b****in over a joke?” he continued. “Or why I don’t like a n****a that paint his face and wear press on nails? Ohh that’s cause I’m only give these producers and the people that watch WHAT I WANT THEM TO SEE . can’t trick twist.”
Concluding his rant, Twist stated, “Moral of the story ONLY GIVE OFF WHAT U WANT THE WORLD TO SEE, AND DONT GET MAD WHEN THEY SEE IT AND MAKE AN OPINION ON IT. ITS TV. #ItWasAllGoodJustAWeekAgo #NowItsAnACTUALCoolN_OnTheShowEverybodyQuittin coo now we get to see something entertaining.”
This arrives after Egypt announced her exit from the WE tv reality series. “I respect myself enough to walk away from anything that no longer serves me, grows me or makes me happy,” she said on Instagram. “It’s time for me to rise from the ashes from being falsely represented to you, the people I love most, which is why I have decided to resign from Growing Up Hip Hop.”
Egypt isn’t the only cast member who is critical towards the way they’re portrayed on “Growing Up Hip Hop”. Romeo previously slammed “Growing Up Hip Hop” producers for allegedly creating “fake drama” with Angela Simmons.
Responding to an article which claimed that “things get awkward” between him and Angela, Romeo tweeted in February, “Literally was dealing with my autie death and hopped on a plane right after this scene to make her funeral.Great editing tho. Was literally in and out and came to show love to Egypt for HER engagement.” He added, “Yall gotta stop with the fake drama, but that’s why I left the show.”

Jamie Lynn Spears Explains Why Her Acting Return Felt Very Natural for Her

    Instagram

Twelve years since the ending of ‘Zoey 101’, the younger sister of Britney Spears is making a return to the small screen by taking on the role of Noreen Fitzgibbons on ‘Sweet Magnolias’.
    May 20, 2020
AceShowbiz – Jamie Lynn Spears is convinced she was destined to make her acting return in new TV series “Sweet Magnolias” because so many aspects of the project mirrored her own life.
Britney Spears’ little sister hasn’t flexed her acting muscles since her Nickelodeon show “Zoey 101” ended in 2008, when she became a teenage mum with the birth of her first child.
She subsequently reinvented herself as a country singer, but the 29 year old, now a mother-of-two, is back onscreen in the Netflix adaptation of author Sherryl Woods’ hit book series, which revolves around a trio of childhood best friends in the small town of Serenity, South Carolina.
“I had been in denial, not really admitting to myself how much I missed acting,” Jamie Lynn tells The Hollywood Reporter.

“I was working on my music for a while and then I focused on my family for a bit. With acting, I was just waiting for a project that made sense.”
Jamie Lynn was drawn to the role of Noreen Fitzgibbons, a young nurse who falls pregnant after an affair with Chris Klein’s character, Dr. Bill Townsend, because she could relate to so much of her TV alter ego’s story.
“It didn’t even feel like acting,” she explains. “Although it was nerve-racking to get back in front of the camera, this felt very natural for me.
“I remember being 16 years old, being pregnant in a small town. And then on top of it, the whole world was watching. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t view myself as a victim. And with Noreen, it was important to not play the victim either. She put herself in a compromising situation. She’s a young girl who made some adult decisions and she’s trying to take some responsibility for that. That was me, too.”
And it wasn’t just the Fitzgibbons parallels which struck a chord with Jamie Lynn – the fictional town shares the same name as the Spears family’s estate in Louisiana, while her eldest child is called Maddie – just like the main character, played by JoAnna Garcia Swisher.
“There were so many little nods from the universe, telling me that this is what I was supposed to be doing,” she says.
“Number one, Serenity being the name of the town. That’s a big part of my life, that word in general. Also, we shot in this small town (in Covington, Georgia) that happened to be where my first music producer’s wife is from. Her mother came in and watched Ivey (her two-year-old daughter) for me one night while I was on set, because I knew them. It was just so bizarre, but in a cool way.
“Everything literally was just meant to be.”

The hip-hop icon is developing a new half-hour series called “Partners in Rhyme”, which will centre on a female foster kid and social media star who is convinced she will become the next Cardi B.
Lyte, real name Lana Moorer, will feature as a record label executive tasked with taking the teen under her wing, and to find her young co-star, she has teamed up with producers at U.S. network UMC (Urban Movie Channel) and officials at the American Black Film Festival (ABFF) to launch the Shoot Your Shot casting call, inviting wannabe actors to apply for the role.
Five finalists will perform at the planned ABFF event in Miami, Florida later this year, when a winner will be chosen as the show’s lead.
Lyte, who has featured in TV series like “Power, “S.W.A.T.”, and “Queen of the South”, is working with “Martin and The Jamie Foxx Show” executive producer Bentley Kyle Evans on the project.

'Deadpool' Creator Believes Third Movie Will Not Come Out in Next Five Years

    Twentieth Century Fox

When claiming he has not seen ‘Deadpool 3’ on the Marvel’s schedule, comic book creator Rob Liefeld points out, ‘Until a movie is put on a schedule, it’s not taken seriously.’
    May 20, 2020
AceShowbiz – A third “Deadpool 3” film is not on the Marvel schedule for the next five years, according to the creator of the comic that inspired the franchise.
Rob Liefeld has revealed that the much-anticipated sequel, which would star Ryan Reynolds, isn’t on the latest docket compiled by film bosses.
“Until a movie is put on a schedule, it’s not taken seriously,” Liefeld tells io9. “And what people don’t like is that I have assessed the schedule for the next – give or take – five years and I don’t see ‘Deadpool’ on it. I don’t see that it can arrive earlier than that.”
The writer also clarified that some of his past comments on the lack of progress on the production were not a knock on executives at Marvel, but rather a way for him to be honest with “Deadpool” fans.
“Do I know that there is no movement on a ‘Deadpool 3’ right now? I know that, yes. Does that worry me? No, not at all,” he adds. “What I did was I answered a question honestly, and what I learned this week is just lie. Just tell people everything is lollipop and unicorns and rainbows and you’ll be better off in your life, because people want to be lied to.
“Just because some guy goes, ‘Yeah, we’re still moving along’, that’s code for ‘there’s nothing to see here’.”
“Deadpool” was released in 2016 and it’s hit follow-up debuted in 2018.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis in Talks to Do 'True Lies' Spin-Off

    WENN

The original stars of the 1994 action movie, who played husband and wife Harry and Helen Tasker, are said to have recurring roles in the first season of the Disney+ series.
    May 20, 2020
AceShowbiz – Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis are reportedly in talks to reprise their roles in “True Lies” for a TV spin-off.
The stars, who played husband and wife in the 1994 action movie, have been circling a Disney+ series inspired by the James Cameron movie in recent months and according to the entertainment news website We Got This Covered, they will have recurring roles in the show’s first season – but they are not expected to lead the cast.
The film followed a secret agent who allows his wife to participate in a spy mission after he fears she is having an affair.
The news comes after “Terminator Salvation” director McG revealed last year (19) that he was involved in a planned television series.
Curtis previously shot down rumors of a sequel to the production, insisting it would not be appropriate to spoof terrorism in the wake of the 9/11 attacks in 2001.
”I don’t think we could ever do another ‘True Lies’ after 9/11,” she shared during a 2019 press conference. ”This was pre-9/11… we could make fun of terrorism because it was so outrageous.”
But she confessed the role was one of her career favorites.
” ‘True Lies’ is just a perfect combination of everything I would do well in every way,” she shared. “It was just a perfect canvas. It was such a giant scope and Jim (Cameron) hired me, he wrote it for me… he just let me do what I do.”

The news comes as Curtis and her Comet Pictures associates sign a three-year, first-look deal with bosses at horror movie studio Blumhouse. Among the projects already in production is thriller “Mother Nature”.
