'RHOA': NeNe Leakes Calls Kenya Moore 'B***h' One Minute Into the Reunion

    Bravo

In a new video from part 1 of the reunion, the Housewives are talking about Kenya’s subdued persona named Ken, the nickname given by Kenya’s estranged husband Marc Daly.
    May 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – Season 12 reunion special of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” will arrive soon, but before that, Bravo treats viewers to a sneak-peek at the highly-anticipated virtual reunion. The new clip shows how the ladies start off nicely before things get escalated, especially between rivals NeNe Leakes and Kenya Moore.
Obtained by E! News, the video from part 1 of the reunion sees the Housewives talking about Kenya’s subdued persona named Ken, the nickname given by Kenya’s estranged husband Marc Daly. NeNe chimed in, “I actually like Ken, I think Ken is the better person.”
Porsha Williams later quips, “That was slightly a compliment.” NeNe then shares why she likes Ken more than Kenya, noting, “Ken shuts the f**k up.”
The remarks seemingly don’t sit well with Kenya, who quickly claps back, “Well, maybe NeNe should be more like Ken.” The former beauty queen adds, “She needs to learn how to shut the f**k up.”
NeNe claims she “is like Ken,” and when Kenya asks the 52-year-old TV personality to pick one of her “multi-personalities,” NeNe retorts, “Yes, girl! And pick one of your many multi-personalities, Ken!”
“Along with my many talents,” Kenya calmly replies, to which NeNe hotly responds, “Good for you, b***h!” That is only one minute after the show starts, prompting Kenya to joke that the reunion is “ahead of schedule.”
Upon hearing the shade, NeNe adds, “You will be called a b***h every time I see you, every f***ing morning. NeNe always wins! She’s been winning for years, honey.”
In the previous teaser, NeNe was seen walking off the filming following a screaming match between the ladies. She stood up and yelled, “Bye!” before abruptly shutting down her video. That confused the other Housewives as Cynthia Bailey stated that she could no longer see NeNe.
Part 1 of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” is set to air on Sunday, May 10 at 8 P.M. on Bravo!

Tyra Banks Owns Up to Resurfacing 'Insensitive' Moment From 'America's Next Top Model'

    WENN

The creator/host of the long-running modeling competition finds herself under fire after a clip from a past episode in which she confronted Dani Evans about the gap in her teeth came out online again.
    May 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – Tyra Banks has acknowledged she was in the wrong. Finding herself under fire for her past treatment to aspiring models after a series of clips from old “America’s Next Top Model” cycles resurfaced online, the former Victoria’s Secret Angel came forward with a statement in which she accepted her erroneous ways.
“Been seeing the posts about the insensitivity of some past ANTM moments and I agree with you,” the 46-year-old TV personality said in a tweet she posted on Friday, May 8. “Looking back, those were some really off choices.” Though she did not offer an apology, she added, “Appreciate your honest feedback and am sending so much love and virtual hugs.”

Tyra Banks Responded to Backlash Over Insensitive ‘ANTM’ Moment
One of the viral clips many had issued with captured a moment between Tyra and Cycle 6 winner Dani Evans. In it, the former host of “America’s Got Talent” confronted the then-wannabe model about the gap in her teeth. “So, Danielle, you went to the dentist but you refused to have your gap closed,” she said in the footage. “Do you really think you can have a CoverGirl contract with a gap in your mouth?”
Dani lively replied, “Yes, why not?” In response, Tyra put her finger up to her front teeth to mimic having a gap while telling her, “This is all people see. It’s easy, breezy, beautiful CoverGirl. It’s not marketable.” The creator’s statement got Dani relenting as she told the judging panel, “A little bit is ok but I don’t want to completely close it.”
The cringeworthy moment quickly gained attention in the negative way. Model Slick Woods reposted the clip on her Instagram with a caption that read, “No one should ever talk to you like that @danievans1, that episode fucked up little simone/slick so that’s how y’all feel @tyrabanks @miss_jalexander???”

Nightly Pop’s Nina Parker has also weighed in on the issue through a Twitter post. “I remember watching this as a young woman & I felt extremely discouraged to be on TV bc of this scene,” she wrote. “I was disappointed in Tyra then… She ended up pressuring this girl to get dental surgery to be ‘marketable.’ Also my gap & TV contract say HI!”

Nina Parker Blasted Tyra Banks for Insensitive ‘ANTM’ Comment
Dani herself has a few days earlier addressed the controversy in a video she posted on Instagram. “This is a video for me to speak my truth and to provide clarity and for me to address an issue that was done 15 years ago, that carries weight and clearly affected a lot of young girls in America after watching it,” she began explaining.
“I want to address all of those young girls. I’m gonna take this time to build up and to speak to all of my young queens who saw that episode and were truly affected by Tyra’s words,” the 34-year-old continued. She then told those watching her video, “I want to speak to you right now. You’re beautiful. And I’m not talking about a physical feature.”

“It doesn’t matter if you have a gap, stacked teeth, straight teeth, it matters not. It doesn’t matter if you’re black, brown, white, indifferent, other. What makes you beautiful is in here,” she went on delivering her positive message. “I’m speaking to all the little girls. If I could love on all of you right now, I would. I want to remind you of your worth. You’re a masterpiece, you’re so loved, you’re adored and you’re beautiful.”

Spike Lee Debuts Movie About New York City Struggles Amid Coronavirus Crisis

    WENN

The famed filmmaker has made a mini movie that documents the New Yorkers’ struggles in the epicentre of the killer coronavirus pandemic in the United States.
    May 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – Director Spike Lee has captured the painful experience of living in New York City amid the devastating coronavirus pandemic in a new short film.
The Brooklyn native and Oscar winner made the three-minute movie, “New York, New York”, as a “valentine” to the city, which has been ravaged by COVID-19 as the epicentre of the disease in the U.S.
“It’s painful when you see there is nobody there,” Spike told CNN anchor Anderson Cooper and Dr. Sanjay Gupta of the empty streets in the footage. “But at the end of the film, that is when we see New Yorkers.”
“New York, New York”, which is set to the eponymous song by Frank Sinatra, features deserted subways and landmarks, like Broadway theatres, Yankee Stadium and Wall Street, as well as scenes involving healthcare workers.

Despite the dismal scenes in the Big Apple, Spike feels proud to be living there at one of the city’s roughest periods in history.
“You know what? I wouldn’t want to be any other place than here, the epicentre,” he added.

Donald Glover and 'Community' Cast Snub Chevy Chase for Online Reunion

    NBC

The ‘Community’ cast members are going to reunite for a virtual table read without Chevy Chase who was fired from the show due to his increasingly aggressive and racist antics.
    May 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – Donald Glover is reuniting with his “Community” co-stars for a virtual table read, marking his first “Community” cast event since leaving the show.
According to Vulture, the two-time Emmy winner, who played Troy Barnes in the NBC sitcom, will join his former co-stars for a virtual table read of an episode from the show, as well as a special Q&A session, on May 18, 2020.
Glover will be joined by castmates Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alison Brie, Jim Rash, Ken Jeong, and creator Dan Harmon as they revisit the show, about a study group of unlikely friends at a community college, which ended in 2015 after a six-year run.
The only member of the original cast who won’t return is Chevy Chase, who once reportedly told Glover, “People think you’re funnier because you’re black.”
For the reunion, the cast will be reading season five, episode four, “Cooperative Polygraphy”, which takes place after the death Chase’s character Pierce Hawthorne, and was the second-to-last episode Glover would appear in before his character exited the show.
The table read will stream live at 5 P.M. ET on the “Community” YouTube page, raising money for Jose Andres’ World Central Kitchen and Frontline Food, both of which are involved in Covid-19 relief efforts to provide meals to first responders and vulnerable communities across the U.S.
The cast most recently reunited last November, without both Glover and Chase, for Vulture Festival.

'National Treasure' TV Series in the Works With 'Much Younger Cast'

    Buena Vista Pictures

Two projects based on the Nicolas Cage-starring franchise are confirmed by the producers to be in development; one for streaming and another for the big screen.
    May 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – A TV series based on Nicolas Cage’s “National Treasure” franchise is in development at Disney+ with a younger cast, producer Jerry Bruckheimer has confirmed.
The original movie series starred Cage as Benjamin Franklin Gates, a historian and self-taught cryptologist who hunts for long-lost treasure through clues found in American historical artefacts. The film, directed by Jon Turteltaub, was released in 2004 and spawned a sequel, 2007’s “National Treasure: Book of Secrets”.
Now Bruckheimer has confirmed that both a streaming series and a third film are in the works.
“We’re certainly working on one for streaming and we’re also working on one for the big screen,” Bruckheimer told Collider. “So, hopefully, they’ll both come together and we’ll bring you another National Treasure, but they’re both very active.”
The “Top Gun: Maverick” producer explained the new Disney+ series will share “the same concept” as the films, but is designed with “a much younger cast” in mind.
“The television version is in process,” he continued. “We have, I think, a pilot script done and an outline of the future episodes.”
The news comes months after Disney and Bruckheimer announced they were moving forward with “National Treasure 3”, with “Bad Boys for Life” screenwriter Chris Bremner attached to pen the script to the highly-anticipated sequel.
He added the “National Treasure 3” is currently being written with “the same cast” as the previous films in mind.
Meanwhile, Cage is set to portray Joe Exotic, the subject of the hit Netflix docuseries “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness”, in an upcoming eight-episode series from Imagine Television Studios and CBS Television Studios.

'Deadpool 2' Producers Slapped With $300K Fine for Stuntwoman's Death on Set

    20th Century Fox

The producers for the Ryan Reynolds-fronted superhero movie have been punished with fine for failing to provide a safe workplace for the fallen stuntwoman.
    May 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – The production company behind “Deadpool 2” has been fined almost $300,000 for safety violations over the 2017 death of stuntwoman Joi Harris.
Harris, 32, was killed when she was thrown from the motorcycle she was riding through a plate-glass window while filming her first movie stunt, a stand-in scene for actress Zazie Beetz on location in Vancouver, Canada.
After assessing the situation, statutory agency WorkSafeBC has imposed the fine on TCF Vancouver Productions LTD for failing to provide a safe workplace for Harris, reported Deadline.
An investigation previously found that Harris’s death was the result of a freak accident after the experienced motorcycle rider continued travelling beyond a planned stopping point on the set, striking a concrete curb and being thrown through the window of a building.
She had not been wearing a safety helmet, as Beetz’s character Domino was not wearing one in the scene, and died on impact.
In their new investigation, WorkSafeBC ruled five violations of the Workers Compensation Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation had been committed by the production company, including, “…failing to identify the hazards and assess and control the risks of the work activity and failing to provide adequate supervision… failing to provide adequate supervision with respect to this work activity and instructing the stunt performer not to wear safety headgear while operating the motorcycle.”
A representative from the agency said, “The primary purpose of an administrative penalty is to motivate the employer receiving the penalty – and other employers – to comply with occupational health and safety requirements and to keep their workplaces safe.”
Before joining the crew, 32-year-old Harris was the first African-American woman licensed to actively compete in American Motorcyclist Association races.
“Deadpool 2” starred Ryan Reynolds as the Marvel Comics character and was released in May 2018.

Jerry Seinfeld Wins Rights to Netflix's 'Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee'

    Netflix

A judge has ruled in favor of the ‘Seinfeld’ actor after he was sued by writer/director Christian Charles over who came up with the idea for the ‘Comedians in Cars’ show.
    May 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – Jerry Seinfeld has won a court case over who came up with the idea for his hit Netflix show, “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee”.
Judge Alison J. Nathan of the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, based in Manhattan, New York, ruled that the 66-year-old comedian was the creator of the show, following claims from writer/director Christian Charles that he’d initially pitched the concept in 2001.
Charles initially filed suit against Seinfeld in 2018, claiming he’d had a working relationship with the famed comic for two decades, but on Wednesday, May 5, 2020 he lost his bid to be named as the brains behind the show.
In his suit, Charles said he’d pitched the show to Seinfeld while they were making their documentary “Comedian” in November 2001, revealing the idea – initially titled “[t=Two Stupid Guys in a Stupid Car Driving to a Stupid Town” – was based on the idea of a pair of friends chatting while driving. Seinfeld wasn’t interested at the time, according to Charles, but followed up on the idea during a 2011 meeting in the Hamptons.
However, according to the star’s legal team Charles didn’t request involvement in the project until Netflix coughed up $750,000 for the rights to each episode in 2017, violating the three-year statute of limitations.
The judge’s ruling noted that Charles had waited too long to sue, saying that since he “was on notice that his ownership claim had been repudiated since at least 2012, his infringement claim is time-barred.”
Seinfeld recently admitted he doubts he will return with new episodes of the show after 11 seasons, noting, “I feel like I may have done that exploration, at this point.”

Simon Pegg Makes Use of Fake Cigarettes to Acquire Voice Transformation in 'Inheritance'

    WENN

While director Vaughn Stein praises his dedication in creating a creepy character for the thriller, the ‘Star Trek’ actor reveals that the coronavirus lockdown has helped him gained the weight he lost.
    May 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Star Trek” actor Simon Pegg gasped away at fake cigarettes on the set of his new film, so he could make his voice sound more evil.
The Brit, who is best known for comedy roles, plays a man imprisoned in a bunker by the late father of Lily Collins’ character in new thriller “Inheritance (2020)”, and director Vaughn Stein admits he was impressed by the way Pegg became the creepy character, Morgan Warner.
“The physical transformation that Simon went through for the role was astonishing,” the filmmaker says. “We talked about having that sort of prison body, that sort of prison yard workout. It was great to create a character with Simon that you haven’t seen him do before and to bring it to life in a way, to be that ripped was amazing. It looked incredible on camera.”

    Simon Pegg’s physical transformation.
“I always wanted him to add more gravel to his voice… We were talking about Hannibal Lecter and he had this raspy voice because of disuse, kind of metallic because he didn’t’ speak for years. Simon did this amazing voice helped by these fake cigarettes on set.”
Pegg, who admits it was “fun” to play “crazy and evil”, has put all the weight he lost back on during the coronavirus lockdown, thanks in part to Cadbury’s Flake ice-creams.
“I work out more so I can have one every day. I got into very, very skinny shape for this movie,” he says. “I was working out this morning and I got on the scale and realised I was 12 kilos heavier than when we did the movie. I really made up for it!”.
