Janet Jackson Is Getting Her Own Biopic

    Instagram

Auditions for the movie project based on the life story of the ‘All for You’ singer have reportedly begun before the coronavirus outbreak, but now things have come to a halt.
    Apr 29, 2020
AceShowbiz – Janet Jackson is the latest celebrity to get her own movie. The R&B singer, who rose as a prominent figure in popular culture in the 1980s-1990s, is reportedly going to have her life story brought to the screen with a biopic.
According to theJasmineBRAND which first reported the news, the movie project is being finalized and auditions had already begun before the coronavirus outbreak hit the U.S. However, similar to what happened to other Hollywood film projects, development on the Janet biopic has come to a halt due to the pandemic.
Other details, such as who is penning the script and at which studio the film is being set up, are currently not available. Since the site which came with the report is a celebrity gossip site instead of a reliable movie news outlet, the news of the possible Janet biopic should be taken with a grain of salt.
Janet is the youngest of ten Jackson children born to Katherine Esther and Joseph Walter Jackson. She started her career with her appearance on variety television series “The Jacksons” in 1976 and went on to appear on other television shows throughout the 1970s and early 1980s, including “Good Times”, “Diff’rent Strokes” and “Fame”.
She landed her first recording contract in 1982 with A&M Records and became a pop icon following the release of her third fourth studio albums “Control” (1986) and “Rhythm Nation” 1814 (1989). Among her many hits are “Nasty”, “Rhythm Nation”, “That’s the Way Love Goes”, “Together Again” and “All for You”. As of now, the younger sister of Michael Jackson still holds the record for the most consecutive top-ten entries on the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart by a female artist with 18.
Janet took a hiatus on touring in 2016 as she announced her plans to start a family with her then-husband Wissam Al Mana. She gave birth to her first child, a son named Eissa Al Mana, in January 2017. The 53-year-old artist then resumed her “Unbreakable World Tour”, now known as the “State of the World Tour”, in September of the same year.
In February of this year, Janet announced “Black Diamond World Tour” as well as her upcoming twelfth studio album “Black Diamond” due sometime in 2020. It’s unknown how the current situation will affect the tour, which is scheduled to kick off in the summer.

Oscars 2021 Gets Eligibility Adjustment for Streamed Movies Due to Coronavirus Pandemic

Officials at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences are convinced that the 93rd annual prizegiving will go on as planned as changes have been done in the voting rules.
    Apr 29, 2020
AceShowbiz – The 2021 Oscars are still being scheduled for February, despite Hollywood’s coronavirus shutdown – but many of the voting rules are changing.
Officials at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences have approved changes for the 93rd annual prizegiving, but they’re convinced the show will go on, as planned, on 27 February.
The changes include lifting restrictions on eligibility requirements for films debuting on streaming websites like Netflix and Hulu and video-on-demand platforms, increasing the amount of people who can vote for the best international films, and combining the awards for Sound Mixing and Sound Editing.
The eligibility changes will benefit films like “Trolls World Tour”, Judd Apatow’s “The King of Staten Island”, and “Military Wives”, which all switched from theatrical to video-on-demand releases as a result of the coronavirus lockdown.

'RHOP' Star Robyn Dixon on Monique Samuels and Candiace Dillard's Fight: It's One-Sided Attack

    Instagram

During a joint Instagram Live with co-star Gizelle Bryant, Robyn discusses Monique Samuels and Candiace Dillard’s infamous brawl which results in Monique being charged with second-degree assault.
    Apr 29, 2020
AceShowbiz – Season 5 of “The Real Housewives of Potomac” may be postponed, but Bravo star Robyn Dixon offers fans a taste of what drama that viewers can expect in the new season. During a joint Instagram Live with co-star Gizelle Bryant, the two discussed Monique Samuels and Candiace Dillard’s infamous brawl.
“The season was- was this a fun season? Did we have fun? I feel like we had a lot of fun- I think. It was a doozy! It was just a lot going on, y’all!” said Gizelle during the livestream.
“It was a lot going. Like, a lot more than what was in the trailer. That’s the crazy part!” Robyn responded. She later said, “I think the attack- I’m not even gonna call it a fight, ’cause it was one-sided. I think the attack took over. Like, that was what everyone focused on in the trailer. But a lot happened before, after- I think the whole season is gonna be entertaining….”
Robyn didn’t name names but it was highly likely that she was talking about the physical fight involving Monique and Candiace. The assault resulted in Monique being charged with second-degree assault from the District Court of Montgomery County in Maryland for attacking Candiace.
Candiance reportedly filed a complaint against the 36-year-old star with the commissioner of the District Court of Montgomery County in Maryland on November 7, 2019. Monique is scheduled to appear in court on December 23 and should a judge agree there’s probable cause at the hearing, then the wife of NFL star Chris Samuels could be facing jail time. If convicted she can be sentenced up to 10 years of imprisonment and a fine of up to $2,500.
The physical altercation between Monique and Candiace took place during the filming of forthcoming season 5 when the Housewives were all at a vineyard while drinking wine. The two, who have been beefing for years, later got into an argument and things shortly escalated into a physical fight.
“Candiace allegedly threw a drink in Monique’s face and Monique then ‘drug her a**,’ ” claimed a person close to the Bravo reality show. “Monique ‘boxed’ Candiace up and Candiace was NOT ready. And Monique pulled out her weave too.”
It was said that Candiace was injured following the brawl, asking producers to call police. When authorities arrived to the scene, she told them that she planned to press charges on Monique for assault. While it wasn’t know what injuries that Candiace suffered from the fight, report stated that she asked for medical assistance which she later received.

Olivia Munn Takes Issues With Bryan Singer Landing Jobs After Leaving 'X-Men' Filming for Days

    WENN/Avalon

The ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ actress reveals in new interview that the replaced ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ director took 10 days off during filming to fix a ‘thyroid issue’ without saying anything.
    Apr 29, 2020
AceShowbiz – Olivia Munn still can’t understand why people like Bryan Singer land blockbuster jobs in Hollywood after working with him on her first “X-Men” movie.
The actress reveals she thought it was strange when the director took 10 days off during filming to fix a “thyroid issue” but said nothing at the time because she thought that might be the norm for a big-name moviemaker.
“You see these people who keep failing up, and they’re not that great and you think, ‘Really?'” the outspoken star tells Variety. “When we shot X-Men, I never shot a huge movie like that before. I didn’t know what was right or wrong, but I did know that it seems strange that Bryan Singer could check out and say he had a thyroid issue.”
“Instead of going to a doctor (locally) in Montreal, which is a very high-level, working city, he said he had to go to L.A. And he was gone for about 10 days… He said, ‘Continue. Keep filming’. We’d be on set, I remember there’s a big scene that we’d have, and we’d come back from lunch and then one of Bryan’s assistants would come up and show us a cell phone with a text message on it. He texted to the actors: ‘Hey guys. I’m busy right now. But just go ahead and start filming without me’.”
“I never thought any of it was normal, but I didn’t realise that other people also thought it wasn’t normal. And the other people who thought it wasn’t normal would be people at high levels, people who make decisions on whether to hire this person… This person is allowed to continue to go on. Fox still gives him ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, and then we all know what happened.”
Singer was fired as the director of the Queen biopic after reportedly insisting on taking a Thanksgiving break and failing to return to work on time. He was replaced by Dexter Fletcher.
Munn believes studio executives should seek out more passionate women and minorities to make movies, rather than risk throwing money at people with questionable reputations.
“I think that if we made way for more of those people and held people accountable, there’s so many great human beings out there and directors and artists. It’s not just with women but with minorities. And representation matters. You don’t know if things are possible until you see other people doing it.”

Barbra Streisand Deemed Too Old for 'Gypsy' Movie

    WENN

Actress Patti LuPone who played Madame Rose in the 2008 Broadway revival thinks the lead role should be given to a younger actress in the movie adaptation.
    Apr 29, 2020
AceShowbiz – Broadway legend Patti LuPone has urged Barbra Streisand to give up her dream of starring in a planned movie adaptation of hit musical “Gypsy”, because she’s “too old.”
Streisand has been desperately trying to get the passion project up and running ever since she received the blessing of playwright Arthur Laurents to adapt the show prior to his death in 2011.
She helped to develop the screenplay and wanted to direct and star in the big screen reboot as classic stage mother Mama Rose, but the film, loosely based on burlesque dancer Gypsy Rose Lee’s memoirs, remains in limbo after years of setbacks.
Now LuPone, who won her second Tony Award for her portrayal of Rose in the 2008 Broadway revival, insists Streisand should allow another, younger actress to tackle the famed role – if “Gypsy” ever makes it into production.
“I’m sure there’s technologies (to make her appear younger onscreen) so that she could do it,” LuPone mused when asked for her thoughts on U.S. chat show “Watch What Happens Live”.
“I think maybe 50 years ago she would have been a brilliant Madame Rose. (But) I think she’s too old.”
“Gypsy”, which features musical anthems like “Everything’s Coming Up Roses” and “Rose’s Turn” by famed lyricist Stephen Sondheim, was first made for the big screen in 1962 when Rosalind Russell portrayed Mama Rose. Bette Midler played the character in a TV project in 1993.

Katie Couric Criticizes Jennifer Aniston's 'Morning Show' Character

    WENN

According to the former host of ‘Today’, the onscreen character reportedly modelled on her should be more ‘charismatic’ on the Apple web television series.
    Apr 29, 2020
AceShowbiz – Katie Couric, the former host of America’s “Today” show, has broken her silence about Jennifer Aniston’s character in Apple+ series “The Morning Show”, which many believe is based on her.
The series, which also stars Reese Witherspoon, premiered in November 2019. It features a fictional character rumoured to be modelled on Couric.
“I thought some of it was really interesting,” Katie said of the drama during a recent appearance on the podcast “Everything Iconic with Danny Pellegrino”.
“I think the long-term impact and the serious devastation that results from certain behaviours was quite well represented, or quite well conveyed in that.”
“I think Jennifer Aniston is great… (but) I wish they had made her more charismatic because I think you need a certain ebullience to pull off a show like that.”
