'Chuck' Reunion Goes Online Amid Covid-19 Lockdown

    NBC

Zachary Levy is reuniting with his former ‘Chuck’ castmates for a virtual series in a bid to raise money for coronavirus relief efforts amid the global pandemic.
    Apr 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – The cast of beloved TV spy comedy “Chuck” has reunited on the Zoom video conferencing app to raise money for COVID-19 relief and thrill a superfan.
Bosses at Entertainment Weekly kicked off their new “EW Reunions: #UnitedAtHome” series on Friday with a virtual reunion of the funny show which ran on U.S. network NBC from 2007 to 2012.
The show’s stars Zachary Levi, Yvonne Strahovski, Adam Baldwin, Joshua Gomez, Sarah Lancaster, Ryan McPartlin, Vik Sahay, Scott Krinsky, and Mark Christopher Lawrence all called in for the special chat, as did show co-creators Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak.
The castmates also took part in a table read of a 2010 episode, “Chuck Versus the Beard”, which fans voted their favourite after Levi and Entertainment Weekly chiefs previously floated the idea. Brandon Routh, Cedric Yarbrough, and Diedrich Bader, who all guest-starred on the episode, also joined in on the fun, while superfan Kyle Fox even got to read a role, too.
Each cast will choose its own charity to support during the coronavirus crisis – the “Chuck” cast picked Feeding America’s COVID-19 Response Fund and has already raised more than $31,000.

Zac Efron's Lack of Singing During 'High School Musical' Reunion Angers Fans

    Instagram

Slow Wi-Fi connection is to blame for the brief appearance of the Troy Bolton depicter that has left many fans disappointed following the Disney singalong.
    Apr 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – Zac Efron didn’t sing during the much anticipated “High School Musical” segment on Thursday night’s April 16, 2020 Disney Family Singalong, with host Ryan Seacrest blaming “patchy Wi-Fi” for the actor’s brief involvement.
Fans of the Disney movie around the world had been hoping to see the 32-year-old reprise his role as Troy Bolton for a singalong of “We’re All In This Together” with his former castmates, including ex-girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens. But instead of joining the rendition, Zac was on hand to introduce it instead, with Ryan explaining the screen star was in coronavirus lockdown in the “middle of nowhere” and didn’t have a good enough Internet connection for a prolonged appearance.
“Now just when you thought we couldn’t give you any more feels, I have a surprise for you,” Ryan explained. “This star is hunkered down in the middle of nowhere with patchy Wi-Fi, but he does not want to miss out on tonight.”
After being introduced by Ryan, Zac told viewers, “Hi everyone, I hope that you’re safe, and that you’re healthy and you’re doing as well as possible during these unprecedented times.”
‘It’s my greatest pleasure to introduce a musical performance by some of my oldest friends, and some new ones. I hope you enjoy – and remember: we are all in this together.”
Vanessa was then joined by Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman, and Lucas Grabeel to belt out the “High School Musical” classic, with guest appearances from stars of other Disney shows such as “Descendants”, “Zombies”, and “Raven’s Home”.
But Zac’s absence from the performance didn’t go down well with viewers, many of whom took to social media to complain.
“They really added all these actors to make up for zac efron not wanting to sing with the hsm (High School Musical) cast,” one person wrote, while another added, “Really offended by the fact that Zac Efron didn’t sing with the HSM cast, I’m like EXTREMELY offended.”

Joaquin Phoenix Eyed to Replace George Clooney as Batman after 1997 Movie Flop

    WENN

The Joker actor is revealed to be Darren Aronofsky’s favorite contender to play the Caped Crusader after Clooney’s portrayal in ‘Batman & Robin’ garnered lukewarm reception.
    Apr 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – Joaquin Phoenix was once director Darren Aronofsky’s first choice to play Batman.
The filmmaker reveals he wanted to reinvent the Caped Crusader after George Clooney’s turn as the famed character in movie flop “Batman & Robin” – and suggested Phoenix as his leading man.
“The studio wanted Freddie Prinze Jr. and I wanted Joaquin Phoenix…,” Aronofsky tells Empire of his plans for “Batman: Year One”. “It was a different time. The Batman I wrote was definitely a way different type of take than they ended up making.”
“The Batman that was out before me was Batman & Robin, the famous one with the nipples on the Batsuit, so I was really trying to undermine that, and reinvent it. That’s where my head went.”
The project never made it into production and the role of Batman has since been played by Christian Bale in Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight” trilogy and Ben Affleck. Robert Pattinson will be taking on the role for Matt Reeves’ upcoming film, “The Batman”.
Ironically, Phoenix picked up an Oscar for his turn as Batman’s nemesis The Joker in director Todd Phillips’ 2019 hit “Joker”.

Ryan Tedder Calls Out 'Tone-Deaf' Artists for Releasing New Music During Covid-19 Crisis

    WENN

The OneRepublic singer says it’s insensitive and ill-timed for musicians to drop commercial songs while ‘people are dying’ during the coronavirus pandemic.
    Apr 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ryan Tedder hit out at the “tone-deaf” artists who are continuing to release music during the coronavirus pandemic.
The OneRepublic star slammed those who have been dropping singles which are not raising money for charity in an interview with USA Today, admitting that while his band had been planning to release a new single next month, May 2020, they revised the drop date due to the global health crisis.
“Nobody can compete with the news cycle right now,” he said. “We have this huge record that we wanted to drop in mid-May that we now won’t. It’s a summer song, it’s like The Beach Boys, it feels like such a hit, but I’m not going to do it in the middle of a pandemic.”
“I felt weird saying, ‘Come buy my stuff, check me out.’ Meanwhile, people are sick and dying. It’s very tone-deaf. And unless you’re an artist who had a lot of momentum going into this pandemic, like The Weeknd or Dua Lipa, it’s really hard to get anyone to pay attention.”
Ryan added that he has a huge amount of collaborations that are meant to be dropping in the coming months, but is unsure whether or not they will hit shelves as planned or wait until the pandemic comes to an end.
“I have a lot of songs with artists – Miley Cyrus, Diplo, Katy Perry – that were all supposed to be coming out in the next couple of months,” he continued. “Some of them might, but I can tell you that every single artist I’ve talked with is sitting there going, ‘Well, what do I do? Is it going to be a tree falling in a forest?’ ”
Ryan’s remarks come after OneRepublic recently announced that profits from their upcoming new song, titled “Better Days”, will be going to the Red Cross.

Katzmann will be matched with 15 potential suitors who are vying for her affection, and each week, the aspiring fathers-to-be will be faced with challenges that will put their parenting and partnership skills to the test.

The ‘Crazy in Love’ songstress dedicates a rendition of ‘When You Wish Upon a Star’ to healthcare workers battling the coronavirus, as the likes of Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato perform a classic Disney song each.
    Apr 17, 2020
AceShowbiz – Beyonce Knowles has delighted fans with a surprise appearance on “Disney Family Singalong”. The TV special, which was billed as a star-studded event with Ryan Seacrest as the host, was extra special with Queen Bey popping into the show on Thursday evening, April 16.
The presence of “The Lion King (2019)” star was not revealed ahead of time. The former Destiny’s Child member appeared to perform the classic tune “When You Wish Upon a Star”, which she dedicated the healthcare workers battling the coronavirus in America.
“Hello to all of the families across the world. Ellen Pompeo Mulling Over Idea of 'Grey's Anatomy' Coronavirus Episode

    ABC

The actress who portrays Dr. Meredith Grey on the hit medical series doesn’t rule out the possibility of tackling the Covid-19 pandemic in a future episode.
    Apr 17, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ellen Pompeo has “thought about” the possibility of “Grey’s Anatomy” tackling the coronavirus in an upcoming episode.
The medical drama, in which Ellen stars as Dr. Meredith Grey, is known for broaching timely subjects and social issues in its scripts, and has previously aired episodes centred around topics including same-sex marriage, immigration, cyber terrorism and mass shootings in America.
It remains to be seen whether or not the coronavirus pandemic, which has claimed the lives of more than 138,000 people worldwide since it began last year 2019, will feature in one or more episodes of the show, but Ellen told Variety she hasn’t ruled it out.
“I thought about it,” she mused. “Obviously, we don’t want to get too political here, but I was just watching the news and I saw a clip of Barack Obama in 2014, saying that a pandemic was inevitable and that we should be prepared for it. And then in 2014, the Republicans were not granting him the budget, the access to put together what he felt like he needed to keep the American people safe, is how he put it in his words. So, in 2014, Obama was very well aware that this was going to happen and very well aware that we needed to be more prepared than we were at that time for it.”
“The fact that five years later we’re not prepared, some people dropped the ball for sure. It’s disappointing,” Ellen, a staunch critic of U.S. President Donald Trump, concluded.

'Spider-Man' Director Sam Raimi Confirmed for 'Doctor Strange' Sequel

    WENN

The filmmaker who helmed the original ‘Spider-Man’ trilogy fronted by Tobey Maguire has been signed up to sit behind the lens for the upcoming ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’.
    Apr 17, 2020
AceShowbiz – Filmmaker Sam Raimi has finally confirmed he’s onboard to direct the upcoming sequel, “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”.
Raimi, who helmed Tobey Maguire’s original “Spider-Man” trilogy, has long been rumoured to be involved with the project, and told website ComingSoon.net he finds it “very funny” how he’s ended up working on the movie following a particularly prophetic line in 2004’s “Spider-Man 2”.
In the film, J.K. Simmons’ character J. Jonah Jameson is trying to come up with a catchy name for Dr. Otto Octavius, and one of the suggestions is Doctor Strange.
“That’s pretty good,” Jameson says. “But it’s taken!”
“When we had that moment in Spider-Man 2, I had no idea that we would ever be making a Doctor Strange movie,” Raimi told the publication. “It was really funny to me that coincidentally that line was in the movie.”
“I wish we had the foresight to know that I was going to be involved in the project.”
Explaining his attraction to the Marvel franchise, he added, “I loved Doctor Strange as a kid, but he was always after Spider-Man and Batman for me… He was probably at number five for me of great comic book characters. He was so original.”
It was previously revealed that Benedict Cumberbatch’s titular sorcerer will be joined by Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch for the follow-up to the hit 2016 movie, “Doctor Strange”.
“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” hits theatres on November 5, 2021
