    AceShowbiz – Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson missed out on the lead role in 2012’s “Jack Reacher”.
    The action man was chatting to fans on Facebook over the weekend when one asked him about parts he’d lost, prompting the former wrestler to reveal he went toe-to-toe with Tom Cruise over the movie adaptation of Lee Child’s novels.
    “In Hollywood, actors are kind of like in a box,” Dwayne said. “There are actors that can vie for a particular role because it allows for them to have a certain look, skin colour, size, etc. Fortunately, for me, there aren’t a lot of guys at all who look like me. So, all of my roles, from the beginning of my career, I’ve been a lucky son of a b**ch that they’ve been created and designed for me – except Jack Reacher.”
    “Now, this was 10 years ago, and I was in a much different place, I recognise that. Tom was the biggest movie star in the world, and I was not. I got the call saying, ‘Hey, you didn’t get the role’. Look, I didn’t even know if I had a shot for it, but the people around me at that time made me think that I did. I felt like I did, I felt like, ‘Why not me?'”

    Cruise went on to play Reacher again in the 2016 sequel, “Jack Reacher: Never Go Back”, after which author Child revealed he didn’t think the movie superstar was well cast as his literary hero – because his Jack Reacher was much taller and much more imposing.
    But Johnson isn’t complaining – shortly after missing out on “Reacher”, Dwayne landed a repeating role in the “Fast and Furious” franchise.

    AceShowbiz – “Westworld” star Thandie Newton is getting creative during the COVID-19 lockdown, by taking to her car to record lines for the show.
    The British actress, 47, has played artificially intelligent host, Maeve Millay, since season one of the hit HBO show, which is set in a futuristic theme park. The programme is currently airing its third season in the U.S., but some episodes weren’t finished prior to the world going into lockdown due to the coronavirus, meaning Thandie and her co-stars have had to come up with unique ways of providing the necessary ADR (additional dialogue recording) for the series.
    Consequently, Thandie shared a clip of herself recording in her car on her Instagram page on Easter Sunday (April 12), writing alongside the video, “Lockdown. Been having to create a DIY sound studio (in the car, in the garage, recording into my i phone while hooked up to LA on my laptop) to do ADR (additional dialogue recording) for @westworldhbo.”
    “We’re doing everything we can during Covid19 to bring the show to you. Without these trans global, tenacious cheats, the full season couldn’t get finished (while you watch each episode the future ones are still being completed).”
    She added, “Huge thanks to our incredible post production team for making magic happen. Episode 5 tonight. Gonna slay. Xxxx T.”

    Season three of “Westworld”, also starring Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright and Tessa Thompson, airs Sundays on HBO.

    AceShowbiz – Brad Pitt wears his heart on his sleeve when it comes to those he cares deeply. Being the celebrity guest in the premiere episode of HGTV’s “Celebrity IOU”, the “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood” actor laid bare his emotional side onscreen as he surprised a longtime friend with a home makeover.
    Joining the “Property Brothers” stars, Jonathan Scott and Drew Scott, in their brand new show, the 56-year-old Oscar winner named makeup artist Jean Black as his pick for the surprise home renovation. “She’s family, we’re like brother and sister. She’s been that person I value so much in my life,” he reasoned.
    In the episode, the ex-husband of Angelina Jolie could be seen getting his hands dirty to help transform Jean’s garage into a guesthouse complete with bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. Talking about his hands-on approach, he explained, “I love the sound of a construction site. If I’m not building, I’m dying. Just walk into a place and just see the possibilities.”
    Upon seeing the final result of the renovation, Brad gushed, “It was such a s**t box, this is amazing. It’s fantastic. I’ve been waiting so long to see something happen to this dump.” Jean herself was stunned by the makeover. “I’m really just so flabbergasted,” she said. “It’s really very moving and I just so appreciate it. I know Brad’s generosity, it’s huge.”
    “But for him to do this, it’s really more than I ever thought could happen. I am so touched by this, I could really not thank you enough,” Jean continued on expressing her gratitude before giving her pal Brad a hug. It was not until she whispered, “I love you, Brad,” that he himself got teary eyed.

    Speaking about Brad’s appearance in the show, Jonathan praised the Hollywood star for being “a true gentleman in every sense of the word.” The TV personality explained, “He wanted everybody to feel like he was spending some time getting to know them. And at the very end he remembered every single person’s name on the production crew and on the construction crew. He remembered everybody and wanted to make sure that they knew how grateful he was for what was happening.”
    “Celebrity IOU” premiered at 9 P.M. on Monday, April 13. The series would follow a number of celebrities, including Michael Buble, Viola Davis, Melissa McCarthy, Rebel Wilson and Jeremy Renner, in paying back to those who helped them become a star.

The new spin-off of the long-running ABC dating show featured contestants trying to find love through their shared love of music. In the first episode, 20 contestants, including marine vet Brandon, Bri, Sheridan and Bekah, arrived at the mansion.
    Also among the contestants were Gabe, Savannah, former “American Idol” contestant Trevor and Jamie. Jamie and Ryan appeared to have a clear connection at first before Jamie started spending time together with Trevor once he arrived. Meanwhile, Matt and Rudi seemed to have hit it off, but he later admitted that he was into Mel.
    After all 20 contestants gathered around, host Chris Harrison noted that there were 12 men and 8 women. Those who had no partner by the first rose ceremony would be eliminated. Sheridan and Julia looked like they settled with each other. However, Brandon appeared to set his eyes on Julia also and they made out. Also having some steamy moments was Jamie, who kissed Ryan before getting physical with Trevor in the hot tub.
    During the first date, Ryan took Jamie on a date to Capitol Records. They got to record a version of John Mayer’s “Gravity”. The date went well as the pair made out at sunset.
    Later, Matt got the second date card and he picked to go with Mel, which made Rudi upset. The two went to attend a private Plain White T’s concert. At the cocktail party, viewers could see that some solid couples were formed. Among them were Chris and Bri, Brandon and Savannah and Danny and Bekah. Sheridan, meanwhile, interrupted Julia and Josh’s makeout session as he pulled Julia aside to sing her a song. She liked it and then they kissed.
    Rudi then called out Matt for not taking her on a date despite his promise. As for Trevor, he and Jamie further got smitten with each other as he sang “Slow Dancing in a Burning Room” for her.
    Now the moment that everyone looked forward to had come. At the rose ceremony, Savannah gave her rose to Brandon, Mel gave hers to Gabe and Bekah gave her rose to Danny. Chris received a rose from Chris with Cheyenne giving hers to Matt. Julia, meanwhile, picked Sheridan and Jamie chose Trevor over Ryan. However, Ryan was saved as Rudi gave him a rose.

    AceShowbiz – Director James Gunn has reassured fans that his upcoming movies “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” and “The Suicide Squad” won’t be delayed because of the coronavirus.
    When the global health pandemic began, production on countless movies and TV shows shut down in a bid to stop the spread of the virus. In addition, the closure of cinemas worldwide meant many film companies were forced to rethink whether or not to drop their movies during the health scare.
    In a Q&A session with fans on Twitter on Sunday, April 12, filmmaker Gunn was asked whether he thinks the proposed release date of August 6, 2021, for “The Suicide Squad” will remain in place.
    “Right now there’s no reason for The Suicide Squad release date to move,” he replied. “We are on or ahead of schedule. We were extremely fortunate to wrap shooting and set up editing from our homes (due to a post production team and studio with foresight) before quarantine.”

    James Gunn revealed that ‘The Suicide Squad’ to be released on the planned released datte.
    He added that the situation with the third instalment of “Guardians of the Galaxy”, also expected to drop in 2021, is much the same.

    The director also said that there’s no change with release date for new installment of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy.’
    “Right now the plans with Vol. 3 are also exactly the same as they were before coronavirus,” he said of the film, which will see the return of Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star-Lord.

    AceShowbiz – The animated “Trolls World Tour” has set a new world record for opening weekend digital rentals after the film debuted out of cinemas due to the coronavirus lockdown.
    The sequel to 2016 hit “Trolls” premiered on Friday, April 10, and took in $30 million (£23 million) over Easter Weekend, overtaking the previous digital records set by “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” and “Avengers: Endgame”.
    “Trolls World Tour” has ranked number one on digital platforms, including Amazon, Comcast, Apple, Vudu, Google/YouTube, DirecTV and FandangoNow, where the film replaced “Bad Boys for Life” as America’s top video-on-demand hit.
    It also became the Fandango service’s most pre-ordered title of all time, the bestselling film on its opening day, and the bestselling film during its first three days of digital release.

    “Bad Boys for Life” dropped to two on the FandangoNow chart, with “Sonic the Hedgehog”, “Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn” and “The Invisible Man” completing the top five.

    This week’s new releases on video-on-demand include “Fantasy Island” and “The Rhythm Section”.

    AceShowbiz – Zac Efron will host an hour-long special that will lead Discovery’s upcoming Earth Day line-up later this month.
    According to The Wrap, the “Baywatch” actor, 32, will front “The Great Global Cleanup” alongside TikTok star Zach King, where they’ll be joined by other celebrities including Lil Dicky, Liza Koshy, and Cody Simpson, and will focus on the efforts being made to clean up our planet.
    The special will feature the stars in different locations around the world, including a beach cleanup in Zac’s hometown of San Luis Obispo, California.
    Efron will also interview Denis Hayes, who founded Earth Day in 1970.
    Other Earth Day viewing on 22 April, includes “Racing Extinction”, “The Story of Plastic”, and a special one-hour episode of “Josh Gates Tonight”, in which the TV host and explorer will interview a list of celebrity guests and environmental experts about their commitment to preserving planet Earth.

    AceShowbiz – Robert Pattinson’s Batman may not be as so-unlucky-in-love as Michael Keaton’s version in 1992’s “Batman Returns”. Words are Bruce Wayne will be depicted as a married man with a kid in a future “The Batman” sequels.
    We Got This Covered, which first broke the news about Batman’s alleged love story arc in the upcoming movie, claimed to have got the scoop from a reliable source who has in the past shared some credible information about other projects. According to the source, the first film in the planned new trilogy will establish Batman’s romance with none other than [SPOILER ALERT!] Catwoman, who will be portrayed by Zoe Kravitz.
    Apparently, the sequel to Matt Reeves movie will feature its version of the Joker (or Jokers) taking center stage, along with the beginnings of a full-on love story. The site adds that future sequels will see the pair getting married and having a baby.
    It’s further said that the plot will be familiar to readers of the comics, though it remains to be seen if this will adapt the storyline straight from the comics, in which their first rooftop wedding plans were scuppered when Catwoman jilted Batman. In “Batman” #85 which was released in 2019, the pair eventually tied the knot in a low-key ceremony.
    In 1992’s “Batman Returns”, Batman and Catwoman’s romance ended with Catwoman apparently dying in order to get revenge on her former boss.
    Meanwhile, filming on Reeves’ “The Batman” has been halted due to the coronavirus outbreak. The cast and crew had shot around a quarter of the film in the U.K. when production was halted in March as the country was hit by COVID-19.
    Reeves recently said that he planned to resume the production in the country once the crisis is over, but hasn’t ruled out moving production elsewhere. “It’s way too early to say,” he told Deadline. “I can’t imagine we wouldn’t finish in London. The situation is fluid.”
    The movie has been scheduled for a June 25, 2021 launch. It’s currently unknown if the coronavirus pandemic will affect the release date.
