'Friends' Reunion Special Won't Get Planned May Release

    Warner Bros. Television

Though Matt LeBlanc recently shared that the original cast members had regrouped to film the reunion special before the coronavirus quarantine, it’s now reported that they will continue the production once the lockdown is over.
    Apr 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – The eagerly-anticipated “Friends” reunion special will not be debuting in May as previously planned.
Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer had all been due to make their sitcom comeback on the HBO Max show, which had been scheduled to launch at the same time as the new streaming service, where subscribers could find all of the classic comedy’s original episodes.
However, Hollywood’s shutdown due to the coronavirus pandemic has derailed production plans, officials have confirmed to Deadline.com.
A new premiere date has yet to be revealed, but once the lockdown comes to an end, network bosses plan to bring the castmembers together and return to Warner Bros. Studio’s Stage 24 in Burbank, California, where the original run was shot, to continue production on the show.
The news emerges days after LeBlanc suggested the gang had managed to regroup and film the one-off special before the COVID-19 outbreak really took hold and forced everyone into self-isolation.
“We got the band back together without the instruments,” he shared on a pre-recorded episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show”, which aired on Monday, April 06. “(It was) the six of us together, talking about the good old days.”

“Friends” aired for 10 seasons, concluding its decade-long run in 2004.

Kristin Chenoweth Turns Into Carole Baskin in A 'Tiger King' Musical Number

    Instagram

‘Big Fish’ composer Andrew Lippa has brought together around 42 different artists to write and create original tunes for the parody of Netflix’s docu-series, ‘Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness’.
    Apr 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Singer/actress Kristin Chenoweth has taken on the role of “Tiger King”‘s Carole Baskin for a humorous new song.
“Big Fish” composer Andrew Lippa came up with the idea to turn Netflix’s hit docu-series, “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness”, into a musical and began tweeting about the proposed project in late March.
“I’m making the musical of ‘Tiger King’,” he posted, after binge-watching the popular show. “Don’t try to stop me. Don’t tell me you have the rights. You don’t. I will crush it.”

Andrew Lippa announced he’s developing a musical of ‘Tiger King’.
Lippa had been joking at the time, but the viral tweet caught the attention of Kurt Deutsch of Ghostlight Records, who is now helping him bring the idea to fruition.
However, instead of a traditional show, the musician tells the New York Post he’s brought together around 42 different artists to write and create original tunes all inspired by true crime tale “Tiger King”, which focuses on incarcerated Oklahoma zoo boss Joe Exotic and his bitter rival Baskin, who runs a big cat rescue facility in the state.
The first song is “Little Pieces”, featuring Chenoweth as animal rights activist Baskin, who sings about chopping up her husband, multi-millionaire Jack ‘Don’ Lewis, and feeding him to her big cats – referencing one theory regarding his disappearance in August, 1997. He was declared legally dead in 2002, although no one has ever been charged with his murder.
Lippa reveals Chenoweth jumped at the parody opportunity and she’s since recorded the song in isolation during the ongoing coronavirus lockdown, and has even filmed an accompanying music video on her iPhone.
Alerting fans to the track’s release (https://soundcloud.com/tigerkingmusicalparody) on Friday, April 10, she tweeted, “Tiger cubs, the song is here! Find it on SoundCloud. Video coming next week! #LittlePieces @lippaofficial”.

Follow-up tunes are due to be released randomly over the coming weeks, with Lippa hoping to drop two promos next week (begins April 13).
And he may even have the chance to turn it into a TV feature.
He shared with the Post: “I’ve already had a producer friend from Hollywood call me and say, ‘Hey, I think Netflix would want to partner with you on this!’ ”

Netflix officials have yet to comment.
Chenoweth isn’t the only star obsessed with “Tiger King” and Baskin – “Saturday Night Live” comedienne Kate McKinnon is already attached to play the activist in an upcoming TV series based on the podcast which originally chronicled Exotic’s role in a murder-for-hire plot.
Meanwhile, Kevin Bacon and Wendi McLendon-Covey are odds makers’ favourites to play Exotic and Baskin in the inevitable film adaptation of the smash hit streaming show.

    Apr 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Taika Waititi teased his upcoming movie “Thor: Love and Thunder” during an Instagram Live screening party on Thursday, April 9, 2020.
The actor and filmmaker took to the platform to provide some light relief for fans amid the coronavirus lockdown, and was joined by Valkyrie actress Tessa Thompson for a “Thor: Ragnarok” viewing session.
After the screening, the celebrated star hinted at some details about the sequel, “Thor: Love and Thunder”, telling fans they are about four or five drafts into the writing process and insisting the sequel isn’t going to be a “run-of-the-mill” movie.
He joked, “It’s like 10-year-olds told us what should be in a movie and we said yes to every single thing.”
Tessa, who previously said she wants Valkyrie to be one of the first LGBTQ+ characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), added that she’s also read the latest draft.
Elsewhere, Taika confirmed his character Korg won’t have a romantic interest in the sequel because he was “deeply in love and lost that love along the line,” adding, “He doesn’t feel brave enough to find love again.”
However, he did tease that details of Krog’s Kronan culture will be revealed and suggested the Space Sharks, also known as Starsharks, which appear in the original comic book series, will feature.
Viewers also got a surprise during the party when actor Mark Ruffalo, who plays Hulk”, joined the session for a brief chat with his pal. The full stream is available to watch here.

    Instagram

To be aired on Netflix on April 12, ‘Tiger King and I’ will feature brand new interviews with John Reinke, Joshua Dial, John Finlay, Saff, Erik Cowie, Rick Kirkman, and Jeff and Lauren Lowe.
    Apr 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – Joel McHale has signed on to host a new “Tiger King” after-show special for Netflix.
Following the success of the “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness” docu-series about Joe Exotic and his Oklahoma zoo, which debuted on Netflix on March 20, bosses at the streaming platform have been scrambling to jump on the phenomenon and provide more programming, while the titular character serves time behind bars for his role in a murder-for-hire plot.
And now it appears they’ve found a new outlet for fans – and they’ve invited comedian and actor McHale to host.

” ‘The Tiger King and I’ – a Tiger King after show hosted by Joel McHale and featuring brand new interviews with (Tiger King stars) John Reinke, Joshua Dial, John Finlay, Saff, Erik Cowie, Rick Kirkman, and Jeff and Lauren Lowe – will premiere April 12,” a statement reads.

Macaulay Culkin Gets Paid Staggering $3M for 'Home Alone' Cameo

    Instagram

The original ‘Home Alone’ actor has reportedly bagged a huge paycheck to make a small appearance in the upcoming remake fronted by ‘Jojo Rabbit’ star Archie Yates.
    Apr 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – Macaulay Culkin will reportedly take home an impressive $3.1 million for his cameo appearance in Disney+’s rebooted “Home Alone”.
According to Britain’s The Sun newspaper, the actor, who famously played Kevin McCallister in the first two movies, has negotiated the impressive fee for a walk-on cameo role in the latest version.
An insider said, “No Home Alone is complete without the star of the show, Macaulay. Disney bosses were desperate to get him on board and they’ve opened their wallets in a big way to do so.”
“His cameo is being planned and they’re working out the details – but it’ll cost them nearly £2.5 million for the privilege.”
The remake was announced last year, with “Jojo Rabbit” actor Archie Yates taking up the role of the lead character with a different name to Kevin. “Catastrophe” star Rob Delaney and “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” ‘s leading lady Ellie Kemper will also star.
After the revival was announced last year 2019, the star appeared to oppose the idea, when he uploaded a photo of himself with his belly hanging out and surrounded by Chinese takeaway boxes.
He captioned the snap, “This is what an updated Home Alone would actually look like.”

Disney+ is proving a hit with fans worldwide since launching in November in the U.S. and March in the U.K., with bosses at the network reporting over 50 million active subscribers amid the ongoing coronavirus lockdown.

Sean Hayes Defends Himself for Playing 'Lazy Susan' in New Movie

    WENN

The ‘Will and Grace’ actor is prepared for any criticisms that might come his way for portraying the female leading character in his next feature film.
    Apr 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Will & Grace” star Sean Hayes is happy to speak to any woman who challenges him over his decision to play the lead in his new comedy, “Lazy Susan”.
The TV star can’t wait to hear push back from activists accusing him of taking the job away from an actress.
“Please introduce me to a woman who is hurt by that and I would love to make her feel better and have that conversation,” Sean says. “I mean the argument of should gay people only play gay roles; I’m 50/50 on that. I think everybody should at least have the opportunity to audition to prove themselves worthy of playing a character that they identify with in their own sexual orientation; how they define themselves.”
“But at the same time, actors want to play parts that aren’t themselves and removed from who they are, so it’s a very interesting long conversation that there’s no right answer.”
Hayes created the “Lazy Susan” character years ago for his “In Living Color” audition, when he was up to replace Jim Carrey.
“I got my bag of wigs and accents and characters and all that crazy stuff,” he recalls. “Of course I’m still waiting to see if I got the part! But years later a friend, who I went to high school with, said I should do something with the character… and call her Lazy Susan.”
“A lightbulb went off and it’s such a great title and metaphor for someone spinning out of control and that can’t get her life together. That was a great in to the story. I never thought to do her again until now.”
“I try to pick characters that are most unlike me, and Susan is that. Plus, I never saw a man play a woman where the comedy didn’t come from that; where the comedy comes from the character of this woman. That’s why I didn’t have crazy make-up or crazy hair. I just wanted her to be as real as possible.”

Joy Behar Denies Rumors of Her Retiring From 'The View' in 2022

    ABC/Jenny Anderson

The comedian, who has been co-hosting the daytime talk show for 21 seasons, was speculated to be getting ready to leave the show after her interview for Ramin Setoodeh’s non-fiction book was brought up.
    Apr 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – Joy Behar won’t be leaving “The View” anytime soon. Suggested to be planning a 2022 retirement after her interview for Ramin Setoodeh’s upcoming book, “Ladies Who Punch: The Explosive Inside Story of ‘The View’ “, made headlines, the longtime co-host of the ABC daytime talk show was quick to set the record straight.
Through her spokesperson, the 77-year-old denied the swirling speculations. “This is not true,” her representative said in a released statement. “Joy was asked what happens at the end of her contract and as she herself made clear in the interview, if she’s ‘fabulous in [2022] as I am now,’ she will be in her seat at the table.”
Behar’s retirement rumor was set off by an April 8 story published by Variety. In it, the publication shared an excerpt from Setoodeh’s non-fiction book in which the “Hall Pass” actress revealed, “I have a three-year contract. But that doesn’t mean I can’t leave if I want to, because they can’t really do anything to me at this point.”
“I don’t see myself staying for more [time]. That’s it! I could be wrong. If I’m as fabulous in [2022] as I am now, I’ll think about. But the chances of that happening…,” the media personality continued on explaining. “You know, time marches on. I’m not a kid.”
The current main focus of “The View” producers, however, was not on whether Behar really planned on retiring or not, but rather on how to adjust to the coronavirus crisis. “That is such a long time away and everyone really likes Joy so they hope she [either] reconsiders or they can talk her out of leaving if that really is her goal,” a so-called inside source told HollywoodLife.
The insider further noted that the producers have yet to talk about finding Behar replacement. “Those talks haven’t even started or have even been thought of because again they all love Joy and wouldn’t want to have that out there that they are looking for her replacement,” the source explained. “Everything usually works itself out when it comes to ‘The View’ and when they have to deal with it all they will but as of right now everyone is happy and content to keep Joy around.”
