Nicole Kidman's 'The Others' to Get Modern Retelling for Its 20th Anniversary

    Instagram

Speaking about the remake of the Alejandro Amenabar-directed horror movie, producer Renee Tab spills that its new themes correlate to what is happening with the coronavirus pandemic.
    Apr 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – Nicole Kidman’s period horror movie “The Others” is set for a modern retelling as the 20th anniversary of the film approaches.
The hit 2001 Alejandro Amenabar thriller centres on a widow and mother, who must be confined indoors due to a rare disease as an otherworldly force inhabits their home.
According to Deadline, the remake will be set in the present day.
“I am honored to be able to work on my favorite horror film of all time, ‘The Others’, and to bring this reimagining to the big screen for new audiences,” producer Renee Tab says in a statement, noting the parallels the story has with the coronavirus pandemic.
“It is almost eerie and uncanny how timely the themes are today: self-isolation, paranoia and fear, and of course the intense desire to protect our children and ourselves from harm.”
“We look forward to unraveling the layers behind lead character Grace, whose pain and demons draw viewers into a truly compassionate journey.”

    WENN/Instar

The TV special is dubbed ‘Saving Our Selves: A BET Covid-19 Relief Effort’ to raise funds to aid the black community amid the global coronavirus pandemic.
    Apr 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – Chance the Rapper, DJ Khaled, and Kelly Rowland are set to take part in a U.S. TV special aimed at raising coronavirus relief funds to aid the black community.
As reports suggest people of colour are among those hardest hit by the outbreak, bosses at the BET network have unveiled plans for “Saving Our Selves: A BET Covid-19 Relief Effort”, which Rowland will co-host remotely with actors Regina Hall and Terrence J.
Other guests booked to make virtual appearances include singers Charlie Wilson, Kirk Franklin, and Fantasia Barrino.
Scott Mills, President of BET, writes in a statement, “The COVID-19 pandemic is savagely compounding the profound health and financial vulnerabilities many Black Americans face. Every day, there are new reports of how this pandemic is killing African-Americans at much higher rates than other communities.”
“BET is using all of our resources – our capital, our media platforms, our relationships with the creative community, sponsors, businesses and charitable organizations to support our community in this time of crisis.”
The charity special, organised in partnership with officials at community non-profit United Way Worldwide, will air at 8 P.M. EST on April 22, 2020 and raise funds for organisations providing help and support for African-American communities severely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
It won’t be the first star-studded coronavirus relief fundraiser to hit TV screens – Elton John hosted the iHeart Living Room Concert For America on March 29, 2020, raising more than $8 million for the charities Feeding America and the First Responders Children’s Foundation.
The virtual pop festival featured at-home performances from Elton, Mariah Carey, the Backstreet Boys, and Tim McGraw among others.
Meanwhile, Lady GaGa is curating One World: Together at Home, a big concert special arranged in partnership with officials from Global Citizen and the World Health Organisation.
It is set to be broadcast worldwide on April 18, 2020, when Paul McCartney, Elton John, Chris Martin, Lizzo, Billie Eilish, John Legend, Kacey Musgraves, and Keith Urban will be among the artists making guest appearances.

Bethenny Frankel Reacts to 'RHONY' Cast's Alleged 'Middle Finger' in Season Premiere

    Instagram

It appears that the Skinnygirl founder doesn’t reveal her departure plan to her Bravo show castmates, making them feel blindsided when the news of her exit ahead of season 11 hit the web on August 21, 2019.
    Apr 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – Bethenny Frankel’s surprising exit from “The Real Housewives of New York City” was put as the main focus in premiere episode of season 12. Cast member Luann de Lesseps couldn’t believe the news as she exclaimed, “What? This is ridiculous!… I can’t even believe this!”
Sharing the same sentiment, Dorinda Medley dubbed the news “ridiculous.” It appeared that Bethenny didn’t reveal her departure plan to her castmates, making them feel blindsided when Variety broke the news of her exit on August 21, 2019.
“She never said anything about maybe not being back,” Tinsley Mortimer said in a phone call with Ramona Singer. Throwing major shades at Bethenny, Ramona responded, “I don’t know why we even have to acknowledge it. It’s so stupid.” She went on saying that they would “be better without [Bethenny] because everyone will be freer in spirit.”
Elsewhere in the episode, Luann alluded that Bethenny’s absence wasn’t something that was entirely unpleasant for her. “It’s really hard for me to say that I’ll miss her all that much — but as they say on Broadway, the show must go on — without you,” she said.
Speaking of the Wednesday, April 8 episode, Bethenny revealed to Extra that she perceived that episode as “the proverbial middle finger to me.” Despite everything, the 49-year-old kept it classy as she said, “The women have definitely had some unpleasant things to say about me, but I wish them well.”

Announcing her exit, Bethenny wrote on Instagram at the time, “It’s time to move on and focus on my daughter, my philanthropy and my production partnership with Mark Burnett, producing and starring in shows which represent a shift in the conversation for women. With the changes in modern culture, I want to highlight the strength, confidence and unstoppable power that women have.”

The Night Angel performed Shania Twain’s “Man, I Feel Like a Woman”, while the Kangaroo opted to sing “No Air” by Jordin Sparks. The panelist, who was joined by Yvette Nicole Brown that night, guessed that the Night Angel could be Taraji P. Henson, Keke Palmer or Vanessa Williams. As for the Kangaroo, the guesses included La La Anthony, Keira Knightley and Blac Chyna. The winner of the face-off was Night Angel!
The next face-off was between the Astronaut and the Turtle. The Astronaut hit the stage to belt out Shawn Mendes’s “If I Can’t Have You”. The Turtle followed it up with a performance of James Bay’s “Let It Go”.
The panelist thought the Astronaut was either Ben Platt, Seth Green or Austin Mahone. As for the Turtle, the panelist guessed Adam Lambert, Joey McIntyre and Niall Horan. Turtle came out as the winner of the face-off.
Later, the Kangaroo and the Astronaut headed to the Smackdown. The Kangaroo sang Donna Summer’s “Hot Stuff” with the Astronaut performing “Bye, Bye, Bye” by NSYNC. In an interview following the revelation, the former BFF of Kylie Jenner shared that she’d love to pursue a music career. “Definitely, this is the star of a lot. I think that now I don’t have a choice. The people want the album,” the model said.
The “Life of Kylie” alum continued, “I was probably the person who sung the most ballads, but that works for the story and that works for me. But one of my favorite performances was the Amy Winehouse song,” referring to her performance of “You Know I’m No Good” in the previous episode.
Talking about appearing on “The Masked Singer”, Jordyn said, “[It’s] an opportunity of a lifetime that I could not pass up. It was like living out one of my childhood fantasies. You always envision yourself performing on stage and for crowds, but you don’t think it can be a reality. This really set my childhood dreams to a reality. Although I could have never envisioned it being in a kangaroo costume.”

'Tiger King' Becomes Netflix's Most Watched Show With 34M Viewers

    Netflix

The ‘Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness’ that revolves around the infamous tiger breeder Joe Exotic beats Netflix’s fan-favorite series ‘Stranger Things’.
    Apr 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Tiger King” has clawed its way to the top of Netflix’s viewing charts as one of the streaming service’s most watched original shows ever.
Released last month, March 2020, “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness” follows the exploits of Joe Exotic, a prolific tiger breeder, who ran a popular illegal zoo in Oklahoma.
While the tiger lover was sentenced to 22 years in jail for plotting to kill animal rights activist Carole Baskin and other wildlife violations, the shocking programme was an instant hit with fans amid the coronavirus lockdown, having reached a U.S. TV audience of 34.3 million unique viewers within the first 10 days of its release, according to Nielsen estimates.
The figures, registered from March 20 to 29, 2020, top those for season two of Netflix hit “Stranger Things”, which scored 31.2 million viewers, and fell only slightly behind “Stranger Things 3”, which drew 36.3 million over the comparable 10-day span.
“Tiger King” has become a global phenomenon, with producers at 20th Century Fox reportedly in the early stages of planning a movie based on the series, with Orlando Bloom being eyed as leading man Joe.
Several other spin-off projects are also said to be in the works – one featuring “Saturday Night Live” star Kate McKinnon, who plans to play Baskin – including a “definitive sequel” to the show set to air on the Investigation Discovery channel.
Speaking to People magazine Joe’s former employee, Kelci ‘Saff’ Saffery, opened up on his boss’ fixation with his adversary.
“Carole was the first thing on his mind every morning and the last thing on his mind every night,” Kelci said.
John Finlay, Joe’s ex-husband, added, “Joe had a really bad hatred towards Carole Baskin and a lot of us knew it was going to head in a bad direction… A lot of people told him he needs to stop or slow down and think about what’s going on.”
However, in a phone interview with Netflix from jail following the success of the show, Joe insisted he’s “done with the Carole Baskin saga” and is looking ahead to being released from prison.

Orlando Bloom Eyed to Play Joe Exotic in New Movie

    WENN

The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ actor is reportedly hotly tipped as a top contender to portray the infamous tiger breeder who ran a popular illegal zoo in Oklahoma.
    Apr 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – Orlando Bloom is reportedly being eyed up to play Tiger King-turned-felon Joe Exotic in a new movie based on the hit real-life Netflix series.
Released last month, March 2020, “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness” follows the exploits of Joe, a prolific tiger breeder, who ran a popular illegal zoo in Oklahoma.
While the tiger lover was sentenced to 22 years in jail for plotting to kill an animal rights activist and other wildlife violations, the shocking programme was an instant hit with fans amid the coronavirus lockdown.
According to Britain’s The Sun newspaper, producers at 20th Century Fox are in the early stages of planning a movie based on the series, and “Pirates of the Caribbean” star Orlando is reportedly producers’ top choice for the leading role.
“All filming is on lockdown at the moment but the studios are exploring projects they can get going on as soon as possible and they think Tiger King is the perfect story,” a movie insider said.
“The popularity of the series has been unprecedented and they think a film about it could be even more dramatic. The film could shed light on some details behind the scenes that were not shown in the Netflix series…They think he could really bring Joe to life on screen.”
“Tiger King” directors Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaikin claim to have recently spoken to Joe in prison, where he said he thought Brad Pitt or David Spade would be best suited to the role, while his ex-husband John Finlay tipped Shia LaBeouf or Channing Tatum for the part.
The movie won’t be the only spin-off based on the hit show – a TV series is already in development in the U.S. focusing on Joe’s adversary, animal rights activist Carole Baskin, who will be played by “Ghostbusters” actress Kate McKinnon.
According to People, Rob Lowe is also plotting a project inspired by the docuseries, and is re-teaming with his “9-1-1: Lone Star” creator Ryan Murphy to work on the show.
Meanwhile, the Investigation Discovery channel has ordered a “definitive sequel” to the show, titled “Strange World of Joe Exotic”, which will be told from Joe’s point of view alone and will explore whether Carole was involved in the disappearance of her second husband Don Lewis – something which she denies.
