James Gunn Reduced to Tears Over Steven Spielberg Favoriting 'Guardians of the Galaxy'

    WENN/FayesVision/Apega

‘The Suicide Squad’ helmer reveals on Twitter his reaction after learning that the Academy Awards-winning filmmaker picks his Marvel film as Spielberg’s favorite superhero movie.

    Apr 16, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Having his work praised by millions of fans may mean a lot of James Gunn, but having a veteran filmmaker liking his movie is apparently extra special for him. The “Super” helmer has revealed his emotional reaction upon learning that Steven Spielberg picked his “Guardians of the Galaxy” as his favorite superhero movie.

Gunn recently responded to a fan’s question on Twitter which read, “@JamesGunn hey, I was wondering what went through your mind when you found out that Steven Spielberg listed Guardians of The Galaxy as one of his top 20 favorite movies of all time. How did you react?”

In his reply, the 54-year-old admitted he “cried a little” because he’s a massive fan of Spielberg’s works, though he’s not sure if the list that the fan mentioned is real. “I don’t know if that list going around is real. I do know that Spielberg has said his favorite superhero movie is Guardians,” Gunn wrote back.

He went on detailing, “I was in the editing room with @FredRaskin when I heard & I maybe kinda cried a little.” Returning the favor to the 74-year-old awards-winning filmmaker, he added, “I’m making movies because of Jaws & Raiders.”

James Gunn revealed his reaction to Steven Spielberg naming ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ his favorite superhero movie.

The fan was referring to the list which recently made its rounds on the web, naming Spielberg’s supposedly 20 favorite movies of all time. Gunn’s “GOTG” (2014) came at No. 5, just behind “A Guy Named Joe” (1943) and right above 1953’s “War of the Worlds”. Also on the list as such acclaimed works as “The Godfather”, “Citizen Kane” and “Psycho”.

While the validity of the list has not been confirmed, Spielberg has in the past declared his love for Gunn’s superhero movie. In an interview with Omelete in 2016, the “Lincoln” helmer gushed about the film, “When it ended, I left the cinema with the feeling that I had just experienced something new, free of cynicism and without concern for being gritty when necessary.”

Justin Theroux Unveiled to Have Turned Down Offer to Star in 'Lost'

    Instagram

Co-creator Damon Lindelof reveals the ex-husband of Jennifer Aniston was one of the people he had in mind to portray Jack Shephard, which eventually went to Matthew Fox, on the survival series.

    Apr 16, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Actor Justin Theroux declined a leading role in hit TV drama “Lost”, because he simply “wasn’t interested.”

Co-creator Damon Lindelof reveals the “Mulholland Drive” star was one of the people he had in mind to portray spinal surgeon Jack Shephard on the survival series, but he politely turned down the opportunity – and the role eventually went to Matthew Fox.

“Justin looking and sounding the way that he does, instantly the town [Hollywood bosses] decides, ‘We’re going to groom this guy to be the star of a Marvel movie,’ ” producer and screenwriter Lindelof told Esquire magazine as part of a Theroux cover story.

“There’s a reason that you look at his filmography and there aren’t twenty-five movies and TV shows that he’s worked on. It isn’t for a lack of opportunity. It’s because he’s very selective about what he chooses to do.”

He added, “When we were casting ‘Lost’, he was definitely on the Jack list. He wasn’t interested.”

Instead, Theroux decided to hone his writing skills and went on to release Hollywood satire “Tropic Thunder” – a move which came as a shock to Lindelof.

“It was like, ‘Oh my God, Justin Theroux’s a comedy writer?’ ” he recalled.

The two would eventually find the right opportunity to work together on another TV drama, “The Leftovers”, in 2014, although Lindelof wasn’t sure Theroux was quite right for the main part of Kevin Garvey.

“I was like, ‘That guy is way too good-looking to pull it off,’ ” he remembered. “Then he came in and read, and I was like, ‘This guy is a very, very, very good actor, in spite of his good looks.’ ”

Steve-O Makes 'Unnecessary' 'Hot Ones' Exit by Pouring Hot Sauce Directly to His Eye

    Instagram

Closing season 14 of ‘Hot Ones’, the ‘Jackass’ star shocks viewers as well as host Sean Evans when he chugs a bottle of hot sauce in addition to pouring the leftover directly into his right eye.

    Apr 16, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Steve-O has made one dramatic exit on the season 14 finale of “Hot Ones”. Having completed the challenge of talking about his life while eating chicken wings coated in spicy hot sauce, the “Jackass” star decided to take it to the next level by pouring his own hot sauce brand directly into his eye.

Making his second appearance on First We Feast’s YouTube web series, the TV personality/stunt performer first sat down with host Sean Evans to talk about various topics. He recalled the time 50 Cent invited him to his RV in Las Vegas, and opened up about his participation on WWE Raw that left him with the worst concussion he ever had.

Steve’s epic moment, however, came near the end of the show. When asked to give his best analogy for the wings of death on the spectrum of body discomfort, the 46-year-old responded by first acknowledging Gordon Ramsay as the king of “Hot Ones”. He stated, “I mean that guy was an absolute maniac on this show, so I’m not willing to call it here.”

Declaring that he will step up his game, the daredevil went on to promote his own hot sauce brand called Steve-O’s Hot Sauce for Your Butthole. He then chugged down an entire bottle of the hot sauce, much to host Sean’s dismay. Not stopping there, he proceeded to pour what was left in the bottle directly into his right eye.

Steve was quick to regret his last move as the excruciating pain kicked in. Amid his screaming and grunting, he admitted, “Yeah, that last bit was unnecessary.” Sean took over by stating, “Closing out Season 14 the only way we know how, with a love letter to Day 1 fans,” before the camera returned to Steve who could be seen washing his eye with milk and water.

Steve made his first appearance on “Hot Ones” back in 2017. This time around, he came to promote his latest TV movie, “Gnarly”.

“Sex and the City” fan favorite John Corbett has signed on to reunite with Sarah Jessica Parker on the planned series reboot.

“I’m going to do the show,” he told the New York Post’s Page Six, admitting the gig is “very exciting” for him.

Producers at HBO have yet to comment on the casting news.

Corbett and Parker aren’t the only familiar faces to return to the hit franchise – Cynthia Nixon will be back as Miranda Hobbes while Kristin Davis is also set to reprise her role as Charlotte York, as the longtime friends deal with life in New York City in the midst of a pandemic.

However, Kim Cattrall won’t be returning as Samantha Jones and one of Bradshaw’s other exes, Mr. Big, played by Chris Noth, also isn’t expected to be making an appearance.

A premiere date for “And Just Like That…” has yet to be announced.

The original “Sex and the City” series first launched in 1998 and concluded in 2004 after six seasons. It got a movie version in 2008 and a sequel in 2013. In the same year, a prequel series “The Carrie Diaries” starring AnnaSophia Robb as a young Bradshaw came out. It ended after only two seasons.

Gucci Family Accuses 'House of Gucci' of Stealing Their Identity to Make Profit

    WENN/Mairo Cinquetti

When speaking of the movie which narrates the drama of Maurizio Gucci’s murder, his second cousin Patrizia Gucci declares that she and her family ‘are truly disappointed’ with it.

    Apr 16, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
The Gucci family has made it clear that they are not pleased with “House of Gucci”. When speaking of the film which narrates the drama of Maurizio Gucci’s murder, his second cousin Patrizia Gucci accused the movie of stealing their identities to make a profit.

“We are truly disappointed,” Patrizia told The Associated Press. “They are stealing the identity of a family to make a profit, to increase the income of the Hollywood system…Our family has an identity, privacy. We can talk about everything, but there is a borderline that cannot be crossed.”

Patrizia also took issue with how her family members were portrayed in the movie. “My grandfather [Aldo Gucci] was a very handsome man, like all the Guccis, and very tall, blue eyes and very elegant. He is being played by Al Pacino, who is not very tall already, and this photo shows him as fat, short, with sideburns, really ugly,” she argued.

Patrizia went on to rage, “Shameful, because he doesn’t resemble him at all.” She then weighed in on Jared Leto’s portrayal of her father, Paolo Gucci, who is shown with unkempt hair and a lilac corduroy suit. “Horrible, horrible. I still feel offended,” she stressed.

Patrizia divulged that she has reached out to director Ridley Scott’s wife, Giannina Facio, to discuss “House of Gucci”. However, she has yet to receive a response. Giannina herself met with some of Gucci’s family members in the early 2000s to discuss another potential project, but she reportedly did not reach out to them for the new film.

Starring Lady GaGa and Adam Driver, “House of Gucci” is based on a book about the 1995 murder-for-hire of Maurizio, one of Guccio Gucci’s grandchildren. It also tells about the subsequent trial and conviction of Maurizio’s ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani, who was slapped with a 16-year prison sentence for committing the crime.

Oscars Writers Compare Anne Hathaway-James Franco Pairing to Most Uncomfortable Blind Date

    WENN/Avalon

Reflecting on the 2011 telecast many deemed the worst show ever, veterans David Wild and Bruce Vilanch and young writers Jordan Rubin and Megan Amram open up about the mismatched co-hosts.

    Apr 16, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
The writers behind the 2011 Oscars ceremony have marked the 10-year anniversary of the worst show ever by opening up about mismatched co-hosts Anne Hathaway and James Franco.

Veterans David Wild and Bruce Vilanch and young writers Jordan Rubin and Megan Amram, who were tasked with creating the script for the 83rd Academy Awards, admit their jobs were made really difficult by the fact the two presenters had zero chemistry.

“It was like the world’s most uncomfortable blind date between the cool rocker stoner kid and the adorable theatre camp cheerleader,” Wild tells The Ringer.

“A host’s primary job is to make the audience feel comfortable and the audience at home feel welcome at the party,” Vilanch adds. “Once the audience felt the hosts’ discomfort, they got quiet.”

Amram, who was 22 at the time, insists the idea to make the show seem younger and hipper fell flat because producers picked the wrong hosts.

“A lot of stuff that made it into the show was written a few days beforehand,” she explains. “We wrote all these jokes, but I don’t think we ever landed on a tone or a cohesive feeling of what the show would be.”

And Rubin admits that while Hathaway was a delight to work with, no one could ever get hold of Franco.

“Anne made herself readily available,” he adds. “I went to her house and worked on the script and she was on a bunch of conference calls and responding to emails and was a great collaborator. He always seemed to be on a flight and it was very hard for me to get a hold of him. That was a red flag.”

“She showed up ready to play and committed 110 per cent and he was a great guy but often looked like he had just woken up from a nap. It’s almost like you’re showing up to a tennis court and one person decided that they were going to play in the U.S. Open and the other wanted to play in jeans and just kind of hit a few balls.”

But Rubin is keen to dismiss rumors suggesting Franco was on drugs, adding, “He was not stoned. I don’t even think he drinks.”

Wild reveals it became clear the actors were mismatched during rehearsals, when Hathaway tried to offer Franco some advice. “She was like, ‘Maybe you should try that’, and he was like, ‘Don’t tell me how to be funny,’ ” he recalls.

Shots were fired during the filming of “The Rookie” TV series on Thursday afternoon, April 15. Officer William Cooper of the Los Angeles Police Department has confirmed that Rampart division units responded to a report of a “possible shooting” at approximately 2:56 P.M. at Hartford Avenue and West 5th Street.

At 3:30 P.M., police reported that all suspects were gone upon their arrival. Officers canvassed the area for a suspect, but were unable to locate anyone. Cooper confirmed the location was “a film set,” but was unable to tell which production was affected. However, multiple sources have said it was the ABC drama series starring Nathan Fillion.

Topher Grace Grateful to Spike Lee for Changing 'BlacKkKlansman' Script for Him

    WENN

The ‘That ’70 Show’ alum commends the ‘Da 5 Bloods’ director for willing to alter the script of the white supremacist movie because the actor was uncomfortable with some of his lines.

    Apr 16, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Topher Grace only landed his role as white supremacist David Duke in “BlacKkKlansman” after director Spike Lee reworked the script to make the actor more “comfortable” with his lines.

The former “That ’70s Show” star admits he had been stumbling over some of the words as he prepared for his audition, so he decided to be upfront with Lee and explain the trouble he was having with the script – before he even got the part.

“I had to go in and read for (Lee), because… I just hadn’t played any roles like that, and the night before, I was preparing for it… and I couldn’t say some of the words that were in the script,” Grace recalled on U.S. talk show “The View”.

“The next day I went in and I had this little speech prepared for him. I said, ‘You know, I’m really having trouble with this’ – and this shows what a great director he is, he immediately went to work making me feel so comfortable, that I could then give a performance that would allow him to give me the role.”

      See also…

Grace continued to experience how accommodating Lee was on set as they worked together on the biographical 2018 movie.

“A lot of it was like that on set too, him coaching me through it…,” he shared. “I know he still teaches, he’s kind of a teacher like that on set too, and a coach, and just an amazing human to work with.”

And Grace insists he only ever considered taking on the “heavy subject matter” because he wanted to work with Lee.

“The research for that movie was just devastating and not something I wanted to do, but I thought I’d never want to play this role if not for the opportunity to do it with Spike,” he added.
