'American Idol' Production Halted Amid Coronavirus Pandemic

    ABC

Contestants who had made it through the elimination rounds have been sent home to their families, as health officials urge people to stay indoors and practice social distancing.
    Mar 19, 2020
AceShowbiz – Production has halted on the current season of “American Idol” amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
According to TVLine, contestants who had made it through the elimination rounds have been sent home to their families, as health officials urge people to stay indoors and practice social distancing to prevent the spread of the virus.
It is believed production staff are working on the show remotely, with episodes expected to continue to air as scheduled up until the beginning of the live shows – which were slated to begin in mid-April (20), with judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and pregnant Katy Perry, and host Ryan Seacrest.
The decision follows similar moves from “America’s Got Talent”, which went dark last week after days of auditions without a live audience, and talk shows like “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”, “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”, “Late Night with Seth Meyers”, and “The Wendy Williams Show”.
Covid-19 has also delayed production on several blockbuster movies, including “Jurassic World: Dominion” and “The Batman”, and has pushed the release of new James Bond movie “No Time to Die” and Disney’s “Mulan”, among others.
Globally, more than 198,900 cases of coronavirus have been registered, resulting in a death toll of over 7,900 since the outbreak began in December (19).

'Black Widow' Delay Could Have 'Cascading Effect' on Other MCU Releases

    Marvel Studios

Disney has pushed back the release date of the Scarlett Johansson-starring solo movie, which was initially scheduled to open in theaters around the world on May 1, in the wake of the coronavirus crisis.
    Mar 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – Not even “Black Widow” can resist the blow caused by COVID-19. The Scarlett Johansson-starring pic has become the latest movie to push back its release date in light of the coronavirus pandemic that has been crippling the show business in Hollywood and all over the world.
Disney announced on Tuesday, March 17 that the solo movie, which takes place between the events of “Captain America: Civil War” and “Avengers: Infinity War”, will no longer open in theaters worldwide on May 1 as scheduled before.
The studio has also pulled the Dev Patel-led drama “The Personal History of David Copperfield” from its Searchlight banner which was originally due on May 8 and Amy Adams’ “The Woman in the Window”, a 20th Century title, which was supposed to be released on April 15. No new dates are announced for these three movies just yet.
Disney previously delayed the release of the upcoming live-action “Mulan”, “The New Mutants” and “Antlers”, but held off from announcing the postponement for “Black Widow”. Other movies which have been pulled from their original release dates due to coronavirus crisis included “F9”, “No Time to Die”, “A Quiet Place: Part II” and “Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway”.
Meanwhile, Shawn Robbins, chief analyst at Boxoffice.com, says that moving “Black Widow” could have a “cascading effect” on the rest of Marvel slate. As it has been widely known, every Marvel film contains material that somehow relates to other MCU projects and sometimes includes easter eggs for the next releases. That’s why releasing Marvel films in accordance to their planned order is important.
Future Marvel releases include Disney+’s series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”, “WandaVision” and “Loki”, which have halted production due to coronavirus, “The Eternals”, “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”, “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” and “Thor: Love and Thunder”.

    Mar 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – The premiere episode of “Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta” season 9 saw Alexis Skyy having a heated altercation with co-star Karlie Redd. The two ladies were at each other’s throat at Kirk and Rasheeda Frost’s anniversary party after Alexis claimed that Karlie’s husband Arkansas Mo proposed to Karlie with the ring that he previously gave to her.

You know I NEVER LIKE U… & I NEVER in my life said we were in a relationship. You & ur Wife said it!!!” she furiously tweeted. In another post, she also accused Arkansas of begging her “to b with me, begging me to bring u onto Love&HipHop, u didn’t lease a 800k house around the corner from my moms house in Larenceville to be w me?”
She also denied hooking up with Arkansas, writing, “I NEVER in my life slept around with him, I NEVER kissed or mess with this man a day in my life!!! All he did was literally spent about $100,000 on me in two months while trying to pursue me!!! & THAT WAS IT!!!”
“I told you I didn’t want a relationship with u but we would be friends…. & you wouldn’t accept that!!! You then txt my best friend @kingikey & my stepdad with videos of the ring asking ‘if this would change my mind?’ I told them NO!!!!” she continued. “Then 3 weeks later when on Met & Proposed to Karlie with the same ring!!! 'Avatar' Producers Decide to Hold Off Sequels Production in New Zealand

    The 20th Century Fox

‘We’re in the midst of a global crisis and this is not about the film industry,’ explains producer Jon Landau when confirming the postponement amid the global coronavirus pandemic.
    Mar 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – The “Avatar” sequels have halted production in New Zealand amid the global coronavirus pandemic.
The executive team for the movies had been due to fly from Los Angeles to New Zealand on Friday (March 13), but decided against making the journey as the instances of the Covid-19 virus continued to increase around the world.
“We’ve delayed it. We had plans to come down Friday night with a group of people and start back up and we made the decision to hold off and continue working here (in Los Angeles), and come down there a little bit later than we’d planned,” producer Jon Landau told the New Zealand Herald newspaper.
“We’re in the midst of a global crisis and this is not about the film industry. I think everybody needs to do now whatever we can do, as we say here, to flatten the (coronavirus) curve.”
Sources at the New Zealand Film Commission consequently reported that production had been postponed “until further notice”.
Work on the sequels has been underway at Stone Street Studios in Wellington and another studio facility at Kumeu near Auckland, in order to allow filming on one movie to take place while the set is built at the other studio.
Landau previously told Variety that the production schedule currently spans two and a half movies.
The first sequel, “Avatar 2”, is due for release on 17 December, 2021, followed by “Avatar 3” in December 2023, “Avatar 4” in December 2025 and “Avatar 5” in December 2027.

Emilia Clarke Still 'Mad' Her 'Game of Thrones' Character Didn't Get Happy Ending

    HBO

During an interview, the Daenerys Targaryen depicter also admits that she’s still annoyed by the fact that Kit Harington’s character Jon Snow could get away with murder.
    Mar 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – Emilia Clarke was “annoyed” that Kit Harington’s Jon Snow “got away with murder” in the finale of “Game of Thrones”.
The hit HBO show wrapped its eighth and final series last May (19) and, reflecting on the death of her beloved character, Daenerys Targaryen, who was murdered by her former-lover Jon Snow, she told Britain’s The Times newspaper she’s still not over the ending.
“Yeah, I felt for her. I really felt for her. And yeah, was I annoyed that Jon Snow didn’t have to deal with something? He got away with murder — literally,” she said.
Despite her frustrations, Emilia had known the ending for years, and she added that when the show finally did come to a close, “it felt like coming out of a bunker. Everything felt really strange.”
“I knew how I felt when I first read it, and I tried, at every turn, not to consider too much what other people might say, but I did always consider what the fans might think — because we did it for them, and they were the ones who made us successful, so… it’s just polite, isn’t it?” she shared.
When asked if she was mad that Daenerys didn’t get a “happy ending”, Emilia admitted that she was, but added that the show was a “gift” for her as an actor.
And she hinted she wasn’t entirely ready to call it a day just yet, adding: “We could have spun it out for a little longer.”

John Krasinski Forced to Put 'Saturday Night Live' Hosting Debut on Hold

    WENN/Instar

The coronavirus lockdown in New York has prompted the writers and producers of the sketch variety show to scrap the upcoming three episodes, including one featuring the ‘A Quiet Place’ director.
    Mar 17, 2020
AceShowbiz – John Krasinski’s dream of hosting “Saturday Night Live” will have to wait. His upcoming episode has been postponed.
The coronavirus lock down in New York has prompted the “SNL” writers and producers to scrap the next three shows, including Krasinski’s hosting debut, which was to feature Dua Lipa as the musical guest, on 28 March.
The actor and director, who last week shelved the release of his “A Quiet Place” sequel due to the health crisis, recently confessed hosting “SNL” was a dream come true.
“I was eight years old when I found an old black and white TV in my parents’ basement, I snuck it under my bed and was watching, basically, every ‘SNL’ from eight to 18 – and I only told my mom (recently),” he said in an interview earlier this month (March). “She was like, ‘I’m sorry, what?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, I used to set my alarm to 11.30 and watch from 11.30 to 1(am) and then go back to bed.’ ”
“To say it’s (hosting ‘SNL’) a dream come true is an understatement.”
