Cannes Film Festival Committee 'Optimistic' Coronavirus Will Wind Down by April

Insisting they were ‘not oblivious’ over the epidemic, president Pierre Lescure assures that the 2020 edition will be canceled if the situation does not improve in the weeks to come.
    Mar 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – Cannes Film Festival President Pierre Lescure has admitted the annual event will be cancelled if the coronavirus situation does not improve in France by April.
Bosses at the festival recently assured that everyone involved was “currently working on the organisation of the event” but, speaking to French publication Le Figaro, Lescure insisted they were “not oblivious” and that if the situation doesn’t improve, they will cancel this edition.
However, he added the committee was “reasonably optimistic in the hope that the peak of the epidemic will be reached at the end of March and that we will breathe a little better in April.”
He also responded to a media report yesterday claiming the festival had surprisingly declined an insurance policy to cover itself for epidemics a couple of weeks ago, which was offered to organisers by firm Circle Group.
“This offer was made to us about ten days ago, but it was totally disproportionate,” he said. “We were only offered to cover ourselves up to $2.3 million (£1.8 million) while our budget is $36 million (£27.9 million). It was really peanuts. The company was clearly playing the bounty hunters and we of course declined this proposal.”
Although the festival will not be covered in the instance of a cancellation, Lescure said the event has an endowment fund that will allow it to survive skipping an edition, if necessary.

'NeXt' Crewmember Tested Positive for Coronavirus

    20th Century Fox Television/FOX Entertainment

A spokesperson for Disney has confirmed the news in a statement as saying, ‘We are working closely with the CDPH to identify and contact all individuals who came in direct contact with the crew member.’
    Mar 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – A crewmember on actor John Slattery’s upcoming TV series “neXt” has tested positive for coronavirus.
The news emerges days after production on the Disney Television Studios show wrapped in Chicago, Illinois, and now officials are taking steps to limit any further possible exposure to the illness, named COVID-19.
“We have been notified by the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) that a crew member on neXt, which concluded production in Chicago last week, has tested positive for COVID-19 and is receiving treatment,” a Disney spokesperson shares in a statement to TheWrap.com.
“We are working closely with the CDPH to identify and contact all individuals who came in direct contact with the crew member, and are taking precautions to protect all who work on our productions.”
Representatives from the labour union Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) have also been notified to help “determine the timeline and scope of potential exposure to members and others”.
The sci-fi crime drama stars former “Mad Men” actor Slattery as a tech pioneer whose artificial intelligence programme, titled neXt, goes rogue, prompting Homeland Security task force members to spring into action.
“Castle” Michael Mosley, Fernanda Andrade, Jason Butler Harner, and Eve Harlow also feature on the forthcoming series, which is due to premiere later this year on America’s Fox network.
More than 4,000 deaths have been reported from the spread of COVID-19 worldwide, with over 113,000 infected to date.

Milla Jovovich's Daughter Ever Anderson to Transform Into Wendy in 'Peter Pan'

    Instagram

The 12-year-old actress, who can also be seen in the upcoming ‘Black Widow’ movie, will star opposite lead actor Alexander Molony in the highly-anticipated movie.
    Mar 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Milla Jovovich’s daughter Ever Anderson, 12, has been cast as Wendy in the upcoming live-action remake of “Peter Pan”.
According to Variety, Ever has signed on to portray the female lead in the highly anticipated film, opposite Alexander Molony as Peter.
This won’t be the first acting gig for Ever, the daughter of Milla and director Paul W.S. Anderson, as she’s already starred as a younger version of her mother’s character in “Resident Evil: The Final Chapter”, and can soon be seen playing a younger Scarlett Johansson in “Black Widow”.
Speaking to Britain’s The Independent newspaper recently about her daughter’s acting ambitions and appearing in the “Resident Evil” movie, Milla said: “She’s very serious about acting and has worked very hard. She goes to classes and learns her lines so I had no objections about her playing a young me in the film, with no dialogue or anything, just a day of work.”
However, she added: “I understand why people don’t want their kids to do it. When she first asked, I just kept putting obstacles in her path, but after she showed me her commitment and hard work, what am I going to do?”
The live-action “Peter Pan” will be helmed by Pete’s Dragon director David Lowery, who also co-wrote the script alongside Toby Halbrooks.
A release date has yet to be confirmed, but Variety noted that the film will hit cinemas, rather than being released solely on Disney’s streaming service Disney+.

Kevin Hart Throws Playful Jab at Dwayne Johnson Over Filming of Action Scenes

    WENN/JRP

The ‘Ride Along’ star suggests that his ‘Jumanji: The Next Level’ co-star is coward, unlike him and other notorious action film stars like Tom Cruise who have dangerous stunts in their movies.
    Mar 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Kevin Hart is throwing another playful jab at Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. When sharing a behind-the-scene look at his preparation to film action scenes for his upcoming Quibi series “Die Hart”, the stand-up-comedian-turned-actor mocked his “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” co-star by calling him a “pu**y”.
The one-minute clip posted on Instagram began with the 40-year-old listening to Eric Appel’s direction on how the stunt will go. Standing close behind him was his stunt double Samuel Jaye Paul. “You know, the only people that they task with stunts like this are the real deal. Me, Tom Cruise, Harrison Ford… that’s just to name a few,” he then bragged. “The rest of those guys are pu**ies.”
Not stopping there, the “Ride Along” actor went on to name the retired WWE wrestler-turned-action man. “Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. If they only knew, right? What a b***h,” he said as Appel and Paul went along with his mockery. He titled the video post, “Life of an ‘Action Star’ “, with a note that read, “Stunt work on the set of my ‘Die Hart’ series.”

Many were not surprised by Hart’s jab at Johnson. “Why I knew he was talking bout the Rock,” one wrote back, while another admitted, “I knew u were gona mention Dwayne. Hahaha.” Others were excited to see the two stars’ banter with one writing, “Just waiting for the Rock’s reply.” One in particular, however, could not help but notice at the height difference between Hart and his double. “You’d think they could have found a child actor to get the height correct,” the fan quipped.
This was not the first time Hart has made fun of his co-star and best friend. Last Halloween, he recreated Johnson’s throwback picture. “This s**t makes me laugh. #NailedIt #HappyHalloween #PeepTheNapkinUnderMyElbow,” he captioned the side-by-side images of the them donning matching outfits while their arms resting on the railing.
To the playful post, Johnson responded, “You’re an a**hole. But I still love you. And I’m still laughing #brotherlylove #happyhalloween.”

Heidi Klum Is Too Ill to Continue Taping 'America's Got Talent'

    WENN/Instar

It’s said that only 3 judges, Howie Mandel, Simon Cowell and new judge Sofia Vergara, that enter the stage with Heidi missing during the filming, which features a full audience.
    Mar 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Heidi Klum was not feeling well to work on Tuesday, March 10. A new report suggests that the model left the taping for “America’s Got Talent” early because she was too ill to work.
According to TMZ, the model was all smiles when she arrived in Pasadena to film a new season of the long-running NBC talent show. She donned a red turtleneck, black pants and beige coat with a colorful detail in the front for that day. However, it appeared that she was just hiding her physical pain.
The report noted that only 3 judges, Howie Mandel, Simon Cowell and new judge Sofia Vergara, that entered the stage with Heidi missing. During the filming, which featured a full audience, the judges told the audience that she had a case of suspected food poisoning. Sofia even joked that she sent Heidi food last night.
However, TMZ revealed it wasn’t the food poisoning, noting that “she just felt like crap.” Amid the Coronavirus outbreak, people might be concerned if Heidi was contracted with the virus, but the outlet assured that her illness had nothing to do with it.
“America’s Got Talent” is among the TV shows which have yet to announce they will be eliminating live audience amid Coronavirus concern. “Jeopardy!” and “Wheel of Fortune” recently decided that they would tape without live audience in light of Coronavirus, considering that most of audience members of the shows are people in their 60s.
The fact that most of them are coming from out of town was also among the reasons why they made the decision. The production deemed the travel risky and thought that it would give a potential mean for the virus to spread.
“The Wendy Williams Show” also announced on Tuesday that it would be filmed without live studio audience for an undetermined period of time. A released statement from the 55-year-old’s show read, “Wendy values her co-hosts and their daily participation but in light of the current health climate, ‘The Wendy Williams Show’ will not have a live studio audience until further notice.” It further noted, “We will continue to produce a daily live talk show and look forward to welcoming the studio audience back when the time is right.”
“Live with Kelly and Ryan”, “The View”, “Good Morning America” and “Dr. Phil” are other shows that announced that they would film episodes in an empty studio.

'The Wendy Williams Show' to Eliminate Audience During Live Taping in Light of Coronavirus

    Instagram

The TV personality announces on Instagram that while she ‘values her co-hosts and their daily participation,’ her talk show will not have studio audience until ‘the time is right.’
    Mar 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Wendy Williams is not taking any risk amid the growing spread of coronavirus. On Tuesday, March 10, the TV host/personality came out with an announcement that her syndicated talk show, “The Wendy Williams Show”, will be filmed without live studio audience for an undetermined period of time.
Williams’ show was not the only one taking precaution by banning audience from the live taping. A number of ABC’s shows, such as “Live With Kelly and Ryan”, “The View” and “Good Morning America”, have reportedly made similar decision to film episodes in an empty studio.
On Tuesday night, March 10, ABC issued a statement to Page Six regarding the matter. “Given the current developing situation in New York City, we have made the decision to suspend live audiences from attending our news broadcasts and talk shows,” the statement read.
In addition, the network was reported to forbid its star hosts, including Robin Roberts and Michael Strahan, from getting physical contact with the public. Page Six claimed that they were told not to take selfies with the crowd.
The drastic measure taken by Williams and ABC came after “Dr. Phil”, which is hosted by Dr. Phillip C. McGraw, announced it would be filmed without audiences. “The health of our audience members, staff and crew are the priority,” explained executive producer Carla Pennington as quoted by Deadline.
The publication further noted that “Jeopardy!” and “Wheel of Fortune” have also suspended audiences from their episodes taping.

The ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’ star has reportedly been on the top of producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura’s casting list since 2009’s ‘G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra’.
    Mar 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Mark Wahlberg has emerged as movie bosses’ favourite to take over the lead role in a planned “G.I. Joe” reboot.
Paramount Pictures executives are revamping the franchise once more, and they are reportedly keen to land the “Transformers: Age of Extinction” star to portray soldier Conrad S. Hauser, also known as Duke, sources tell WeGotThisCovered.com.
Wahlberg had previously been top of producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura’s casting list when he first began working on 2009’s “G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra”, but the gig went to Channing Tatum, who reprised the character for the 2013 follow-up, “G.I. Joe: Retaliation”.
Few details are known about the next “G.I. Joe” project, tentatively titled “G.I. Joe: Ever Vigilant”, but it’s believed Snake Eyes, another character from Hasbro’s line of action figures, will also feature.
“Crazy Rich Asians” actor Henry Golding is expected to return as Snake Eyes, after tackling the part in an upcoming origin story of the same name, which is set for release this October.
