Original 'Friends' Cast Close to Signing Deal for Reunion Special

    Warner Bros. Studios

The unscripted reunion special reportedly will help launch the upcoming streaming service HBO Max as its main six stars are expected to make between $3 and $4 million each.
    Feb 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – The long-awaited “Friends” special is reportedly moving forward, with the show’s original cast set to return.
According to Deadline, the hour-long special will help launch the upcoming streaming service HBO Max, which will also house the entire “Friends” library, which ran from 1994 to 2004.
A deal is apparently ready to be inked for the unscripted reunion special, with David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston and Matt LeBlanc all expected to return.
Each of the six stars will be paid between $3 (£2.3 million) and $4 million (£3.1 million) for the show, the publication reported.
Last month, chief content officer for HBO Max Kevin Reilly revealed of the project at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, “There’s interest all the way around, and yet we can’t seem to quite get that interest all aligned to push the button on it, so today, unfortunately, it’s still a maybe.”
Meanwhile, the cast of the show has been open about their interest in reuniting for a professional project, after keeping up with each other in their personal lives.

Gayle King Absent From 'CBS This Morning' After Shading Network Over Kobe Bryant Questions

    WENN/Joseph Marzullo/Apega

People seemingly think that her eyebrow-raising absence has something to do with her trashing the network for releasing an ‘out-of-context’ clip that landed her in hot water.
    Feb 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – Gayle King was nowhere to be seen in the Friday, February 7 episode of “CBS This Morning” amid the Kobe Bryant questions debacle. In her response to the backlash she received, the TV host appeared to blame the network for releasing an “out-of-context” clip that landed her in hot water.
People seemingly thought that her eyebrow-raising absence had something to do with the trashing. It also came roughly 24 hours after King revealed she would have “a very intense discussion” with network executives over the handling of an interview about the legacy of the late NBA legend, who died in a helicopter crash last month.
However, the network quickly set the record straight. Explaining in a statement, CBS said, “Gayle was off the show today because she had a long-standing commitment out of town.”
King was hugely criticized over an interview with former WNBA star Lisa Leslie in which she asked her about a 2003 rape accusation. Right after the clip was published, everyone, including rappers Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent and Lil Boosie a.k.a. Boosie Badazz, came after her.
The criticism apparently was serious that Oprah Winfrey recently shared that her friend has been getting death threats. “She is not doing well,” she said on “Hoda & Jenna & Friends” on Friday, tearing up. “She has now death treats and has to now travel with security and she’s feeling very much attacked. You know, Bill Cosby is tweeting from jail. She feels that she was put in a really terrible position.”
King herself defended her line of questioning, stating in an Instagram video, “I know that if I had only seen the clip that you saw, I’d be extremely angry with me too. I am mortified. I am embarrassed and I am very angry.”
“Unbeknownst to me, my network put up a clip from a very wide-ranging interview – totally taken out of context – and when you see it that way, it’s very jarring. It’s jarring to me. I didn’t even know anything about it,” she continued.
King added, “We talked about that court case because that court case has also come up. And, I wanted to get Lisa’s take on it as a friend who knew him well, what she thought, where that should stand. It was very powerful when she looked me in the eye, as a member of the media, to say, ‘It’s time for the media to leave it alone and to back off.”

Heidi Klum Defends Herself After Criticized for Negating Gabrielle Union's Accusations Against 'AGT'

    WENN/Adriana M. Barraza

The ‘Project Runway’ star addresses criticisms regarding her comments that favored ‘America’s Got Talent’ amid racism allegations made by former judge Union.
    Feb 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – Heidi Klum has admitted “a lot of people got mad at me” after she weighed in on the controversy surrounding Gabrielle Union’s exit from “America’s Got Talent”.
The “Bad Boys II” actress was fired from the show’s panel of judges in November 2019 after just one season, amid reports suggesting her departure was linked to concerns she had raised about a number of controversial incidents which took place behind the scenes, creating a “toxic” work atmosphere.
Speaking during the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour, Klum said of her time on the series, “I can’t speak for (Gabrielle). I didn’t experience the same thing. To me, everyone treats you with the utmost respect. I’ve never seen anything that was weird or hurtful.”
However, some fans felt the star, who was a judge on the show for six seasons, was negating Gabrielle’s experience in her comments, and she told the New York Post’s gossip column Page Six she could “only speak to what I saw.”
“A lot of people got mad at me. I was called, for example, ‘a white woman,’ ” she said. “I think it is important for everyone to speak their truth. I think that when there is a story, it should be told. I had a different story.”
“I can only speak to what I saw – it has nothing to do with what colour I am,” she added. “I am a human so I just looked at what I saw.”
Union’s accusations were followed up by a “productive” meeting between the actress and network NBC, with an investigation by entertainers’ union SAG-AFTRA currently ongoing.
Klum served as a judge on the main show from 2013 to 2018, and returned for “America’s Got Talent: The Champions”, which is airing now.

Jennifer Lopez and 'Hustlers' Dragged by Academy Voter Following Criticisms Over Oscar Snub

    STX Entertainment

An anonymous male producer and an unnamed actress share their ‘brutally honest’ thoughts on the movies that receive nominations at this year’s Academy Awards.
    Feb 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – When the Oscar nominations were announced in January, The Academy faced backlash for excluding Jennifer Lopez from the list. While many people felt her performance in “Hustlers” was brilliant and deserved a recognition, a male producer who’s a member of The Academy thought otherwise.
In The Hollywood Reporter’s annual “brutally honest Oscar ballot,” the voter said, “f**k J.Lo. I’m allergic to that movie. It isn’t a movie about ’empowering’ women; it’s a movie about slipping a**hole men roofies and f**king jacking them. Roger Corman made better stripper films – they had some meaning.”
The producer was not a fan of Harriet Tubman movie either. “Cynthia [Erivo] was really, really good, but Harriet didn’t really have the guts that 12 Years a Slave had,” he lamented. “It was like the glossy Disney version of what slavery was.”
Meanwhile, a female Oscar member called “Little Women”, of which director Greta Gerwig was among this year’s snub, “badly acted and confusing.” In her brutally honest commentaries, the anonymous actress criticized the casting, “I have no idea why they cast four British actresses to play American girls.”
While Emma Watson and Florence Pugh are indeed British, Saoirse Ronan is in fact Irish-American and Eliza Scanlen is actually Australian.
The voter additionally had a problem with the poverty portrayed in the period drama, “Every time they said they were poor, I gagged – they’re living in a beautiful two-story house, and they have a cook.”
She also criticized “The Irishman”, “If someone besides Martin Scorsese had directed The Irishman, it wouldn’t have all the accolades; it does because of his years in the business. It was too long and too repetitive, and the reverse-aging did not work – they erased the lines in their faces, but they still walked like old men.”

NeNe Leakes Hires Celebrity Lawyer Amid Drama With 'RHOA' Co-Stars

    Instagram

Lisa Bloom reveals that the ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ star reaches out to her as a source shares that she’s unhappy with how ‘positively Kenya [Moore] is being portrayed on the show.’
    Feb 7, 2020
AceShowbiz – NeNe Leakes is preparing a legal threat for “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” co-stars she’s beefing with. High powered attorney Lisa Bloom reveals to Radar Online that the 52-year-old TV star reaches out to her.
“Yes, I have spoken to Nene Leakes about her situation,” Bloom says after NeNe posted a photo of her and a cryptic message on her Instagram account. “I’m so pleased she reached out to me.”
When asked about what the two talk about, Bloom refuses to spill the tea. “While our conversation is confidential, I encourage everyone to stand up for their rights!” she says.
A source, meanwhile, claims that the reality TV star is frustrated with the current season of the Bravo show. “NeNe has expressed her unhappiness with how positively Kenya [Moore] is being portrayed on the show,” shares the insider. “NeNe feels like she is getting a bad edit and is being intentionally cut out of episodes.”
Prior to this, NeNe voiced her opinion on how people and the show treated her differently. “So there’s a rule, but you know the rules don’t apply for me, that when there’s a heated exchange, you do not get in people’s personal space,” she said in a YouTube video.
“That’s a rule among us, especially ever since Kenya put the scepter in Porsha [Williams]’s face, it has been a clear rule that when words are being exchanged, you stay out of people’s personal space. When she put her hand all the way in my face, listen, right over here in between my eyes, you know I wasn’t going to go for that. That’s crazy,” she continued.
Wendy Williams said earlier this year that NeNe was quitting the show. However, she quickly shut down report. “It’s been an especially difficult couple of weeks for Nene, and she was venting to her friend in private correspondence. Nothing has been confirmed or officially decided for next season,” a rep for NeNe said.
“NeNe has had a really tough few weeks,” another source echoed the sentiment. “She’s gotten a lot of heat lately and the fights have really been hard on her. It’s wearing her down especially since being in a different headspace after dealing with [husband] Gregg’s diagnosis.”

Keanu Reeves Ditches Neo's Old Looks in First 'Matrix 4' Set Photos

    Warner Bros. Pictures

Instead of rocking Neo’s slid-back hair and clean-shaven face, the ‘John Wick’ actor keeps his own current style as he begins shooting the new installment of the sci-fi film franchise.
    Feb 7, 2020
AceShowbiz – Keanu Reeves is back as Neo in the first set photos of “The Matrix 4”. The actor and his co-star Carrie-Anne Moss were spotted on the set in San Fransisco on Wednesday, February 5 as filming on the new sequel has begun.
Judging from the photos shared by Bay Area newspaper San Francisco Examiner, it appears that Reeves’ Neo will have a new look in the upcoming movie. Pictured in between scenes taken on the streets of the Chinatown section, the 55-year-old actor was seen rocking his own current style, which includes long hair and bearded face.
This is a departure from Neo’s old looks that saw him sporting slid-back hair and clean-shaven face. He also rocked blue jeans instead of the usual all-black outfit, with Neo’s trademark black sunglasses missing.
Moss, who reprises her role as Trinity, also appeared to have a laid-back style with a dark jacket, though she still sports short hair like her character’s in the previous three movies.

Some Twitter users have shared their opinions about Neo’s supposed new look in the upcoming movie, with one fan writing, “Some of you don’t even lie awake at night worrying if keanu reeves is going to cut his hair for the matrix 4 and it f***ing shows.”
Besides Reeves and Moss, Jada Pinkett Smith has been confirmed to reprise her role as Niobe, while Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is cast reportedly as a young Morpheus and Neil Patrick Harris is added to play a mystery role. Laurence Fishburne played Morpheus in the original trilogy, while Hugo Weaving is not returning as the villainous Agent Smith due to scheduling issue.
Lana Wachowski returns as director for “The Matrix 4” and serves as producer along with Grant Hill. Plot details are still kept under wraps, but it’s reported that the plot involves time travel. The movie is set for a May 21, 2021 release in the United States.
