Porsha Williams Nearly Fired From 'RHOA' Because of This

    Bravo

Host and executive producer of the Bravo reality TV series Andy Cohen tells Jenny McCarthy that the executives doubted that Porsha was the right fit for the show back in 2012.
    Feb 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – Porsha Williams was almost let go by “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” executives, according to host and executive producer Andy Cohen. During his appearance on “The Jenny McCarthy Show”, the Bravo boss revealed that Porsha was nearly fired after the first season of the popular reality TV show.
The 51-year-old host spilled Jenny that the executives doubted that Porsha was the right fit for the show. “At the end of Porsha’s first season, Porsha was at the reunion, and it had been announced about a day before, that Kordell was leaving her and there was a dialogue amongst the producers about whether Porsha was even going to come back or not at that time. This was at the end of her first season,” Andy revealed.
Jenny responded, “Wow,” before Andy later continued, “She got up there at the reunion and I was watching and I was like, ‘oh my God.’ ” He shared,”I left and was like, ‘I stand for Porsha, that was incredible’ and she cemented her place on the show.”
“It’s interesting how things change through the season,” the “Watch What Happens Live” host went on saying. “Even you could be saying, ‘Oh well I don’t think this person’s coming back.’ And then something could happen at the reunion where it changes.”
He continued gushing over Porsha, who is now a mother of daughter Pilar Jhena whom she shares with fiance Dennis McKinley. “She gave like a two minute soliloquy about who she truly was and how she was going to live her life going forward and this was not going to define her and she is stronger than this and I was like, ‘Oh my god.’ I totally underestimated this woman and look at where she’s now on the show,” admitted Andy.

Marvel Releases First Look at 'WandaVision', 'Loki' and More in Super Bowl Ad

    [embedded content]

Fans are rejoiced to have the first-look teaser of the Marvel TV series, which feature characters who were swept away by Thanos in ‘Avengers: Endgame’, that are set to air on Disney+.
    Feb 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – Fans are treated to the glimpse of upcoming Marvel TV series on Disney+. Coming in the form of a teaser that was released during the 2020 Super Bowl, the streaming site unleashes the first footage of “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”, “WandaVision” and “Loki”.
In the very short video, the three shows are spliced into one. It opens with Falcon a.k.a. Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) launching Captain America’s signature shield. The new footage also sees Wilson and Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barner a.k.a. Winter Soldier reuniting. It also seems that villainous character Zemo, who appeared in “Captain America: Civil War”, makes a return on the upcoming show.
Later, fans are given a glimpse of Wanda a.k.a. Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) having a sweet moment with each other in a house. “WandaVision” was previously described at Disney’s biennial D23 convention as a surreal sitcom-like take on their relationship.
Concluding the show is a look at “Loki” featuring Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as the titular character. “Loki” unfortunately has the shortest duration in the already brief video. It remains to be seen where the scene is taken but Loki can be heard saying, “I’m gonna burn this place to the ground,” while creepily smiling.
Fans are rejoiced to have the first-look teaser of the Marvel TV series with characters who were swept away by Thanos in “Avengers: Endgame”. However, both Marvel and Disney+ have yet to release the information of the shows’ exact release dates.
So far, “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” is reportedly set to premiere in August. Meanwhile, “WandaVision” was recently confirmed to air in 2020. As for “Loki”, the show will arrive in spring of 2021.

Box Office: Blake Lively's 'Rhythm Section' Posts Worst Wide Opening Weekend of All-Time

    Paramount Pictures/Jose Haro

The action drama film starring the ‘Gossip Girl’ alum is a huge disaster with less than $3 million on its opening weekend, while ‘Bad Boys for Life’ continues its winning streak in its third week.
    Feb 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – Box Office has seen another major letdown in “The Rhythm Section”. The action drama film, starring Blake Lively and directed by Reed Morano, bombed on its opening weekend, scoring less than $3 million in North America to barely debut in the top ten.
“The Rhythm Section” was initially projected to open anywhere from $10M-$15M, before it was adjusted to around $5 million last week, per Box Office Mojo. But the movie didn’t even manage to score that much, with approximately $2.8 million from 3,049 screens, giving it a low average of just $918 per theater.
That marks the lowest opening ever for a movie debuting at 3,000-plus theaters, worse than 2006’s “Hoot” which previously held the title with its $3.4 million opening weekend. With a production budget of $50 million, “The Rhythm Section” is predicted to suffer losses around $30M-$40M.
Prior to its poor box office performance, the movie was severely beaten up by critics, holding an approval rating of 33% based on 110 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. The website’s critical consensus reads, “Blake Lively delivers an impressive lead performance, but ‘The Rhythm Section’ plods predictably through a story that could have used some flashier riffs.”
Audiences polled by CinemaScore gave the film an average grade of C+ on an A+ to F scale. Meanwhile, PostTrak reported it received an average 2.5 out of 5 stars, with 35% of people saying they would definitely recommend it.
Reacting to the disappointing number, producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson say in a statement to Deadline, “We are obviously disappointed with the box office, but proud of Reed and our movie and the overwhelmingly positive reaction to Blake’s performance.”
The poor box office result is just another disaster happening to “The Rhythm Section”. Lively injured her hand on the set in December 2017, delaying the production which only resumed in mid-2018. The injury also pushed back the movie’s release from February 22, 2019 to November 22, 2019, before it was moved again to late January of this year.
“The Rhythm Section” poor performance aside, “Bad Boys for Life” still leads the domestic box office in its third week with approximately $17.7 million. It has grossed a total of $148 million domestically and $290.8 million worldwide.
Golden Globe-winning pic “1917” holds on to its second position with additional $9.7 million, followed by “Dolittle” which has added an estimated $7.7 million to its domestic tally. R-rated horror movie “Gretel & Hansel” debuts at No. 4 with an estimated $6.05 million, while “The Gentlemen” rounds out the top five with a little more than $6 million.
Top Ten Movies at Weekend Box Office for Jan. 31-Feb. 02:
“Bad Boys for Life” – $17.7 million
    “1917” – $9.7 million
    “Dolittle” – $7.7 million
    “Gretel & Hansel” – $6.05 million
    “The Gentlemen” – $6.01 million
“Jumanji: The Next Level” – $6 million
“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” – $3.2 million
    “The Turning (2020)” – $3.05 million
    “Little Women (2019)” – $3 million
“The Rhythm Section” – $2.8 million

Cynthia Erivo Feels Sad Being the Only Black Actress to Get Oscar Nomination This Year

    Instagram

The ‘Harriet’ actress is saddened by the lack of diversity at this year’s nominations for the 92nd annual Academy Awards and vows to fight for change in the entertainment industry.
    Feb 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – Cynthia Erivo has admitted being the only woman of colour nominated at the 2020 Oscars has been “a real eye-opener.”
The 33-year-old is the only non-white star to receive a nomination in the acting categories at the awards show, and is up for both Best Actress and Best Original Song for “Harriet”, in which she portrays famed abolitionist and political activist Harriet Tubman.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the star confessed the nods are “a moment for celebration,” but also reflected on the wider implications of the lack of diversity in the shortlist.
“It can’t just be me alone. There’s just such good work going on and this may sound fatalistic, but I would hate for people’s work to have gone by and then for us to have looked back and go, ‘Oh, I wish we would’ve given roses,’ when people aren’t there to actually receive them,” she said. “I don’t want us to do that.”
She added, “To be in a room and not being able to see other actors (of colour) who are nominated, to not be able to share that with another black actress is saddening. I would love to share this moment with someone else.”
Erivo recently vowed to fight for change in “the way they (entertainment industry) cast things, change the way they line up producers and directors and writers,” adding that diverse voices “reflect the world that we live in,” while reflecting on the issue during a Television Critics Association panel for her new HBO show, “The Outsider”.
The Academy Awards take place on February 9, 2020.
