Amy Adams' Reality Questioned in New 'The Woman in the Window' Trailer

    [embedded content]

The Lois Lane of DCEU portrays an agoraphobic woman whose life is turned upside when she befriends a new neighbor and suspects a foul play in her neighbor’s disappearance.

    Apr 9, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
“The Woman in the Window” is about to see the light of day after a long delay. A week prior to its scheduled release date, Netflix has released a new trailer for the psychological thriller starring Amy Adams.

The movie, which is based on the 2018 novel of the same name by pseudonymous author A. J. Finn, centers on Adams’ character Anna Fox, a child psychologist who is unable to go outside and confined to her house due to her agoraphobia. Disconnected from the outside world, she has a sort of little euphoria when she befriends a neighbor (Julianne Moore) across the street from her New York City brownstone condo.

Her life, however, is turned upside down when she inadvertently witnesses a brutal crime. Suspecting a foul play in her neighbor’s disappearance, she is faced with the question if what she’s seen is reality or her hallucination. Now it’s all up to her to solve the mystery and determine what’s real and what’s only in her head.

In a virtual press interview held on Thursday, April 8, Adams said she was attracted to the project because it offered her something new, allowing her to delve into the kind of “psychological thrillers [she’s enjoyed] throughout the years.” She also described her character as a rich person who is “struggling with so much darkness, and there’s a lot of shame, a lot of secrets.”

“The Woman in the Window” is directed by Joe Wright, who previously helmed “Pride and Prejudice”, “Atonement” and “Darkest Hour”. The script is penned by Tracy Letts, with Scott Rudin, Eli Bush and Anthony Katagas producing. The cast, meanwhile, also includes Gary Oldman, Anthony Mackie, Fred Hechinger and Wyatt Russell among others.

The movie was originally scheduled to be released theatrically by 20th Century Fox on October 4, 2019, but was delayed to May 15, 2020, due to re-editing after test screenings. The theatrical release was later canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the pic was sold to Netflix. The streaming giant is now set to unleash the film on May 15.

Tom Holland to Explore Mental Illness in Anthology Series 'The Crowded Room'

    WENN/Avalon

A co-production between Apple Studios and New Regency, the first season of this TV drama will be based on a biography of Daniel Keyes, who was arrested for three rapes in Ohio in the late 1970s.

    Apr 9, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Actor Tom Holland is set to explore the subject of Multiple Personality Disorder for a new TV drama based on the true crime story of Billy Milligan.

“The Crowded Room” will be an anthology series, with the first season based on Daniel Keyes’ 1981 biography, “The Minds of Billy Milligan”, a man who was arrested for three rapes in Ohio in the late 1970s.

However, he eventually became the first person ever acquitted of a crime after doctors diagnosed him with Multiple Personality Disorder, now known as Dissociative Identity Disorder, claiming he had no knowledge of the assaults as they were committed by two of his alternate personalities.

Instead of being convicted and thrown behind bars in prison, Milligan went on to spend a decade in various mental hospitals.

“The Crowded Room” will be adapted by “Cinderella Man” screenwriter Akiva Goldsman for a 10-episode first season for streaming service bosses at Apple. It is a co-production between Apple Studios and New Regency with Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan and Michael Schaefer serving as executive producers.

Goldsman and Holland will also serve as executive producers on the project, which reunites the “Spider-Man: Homecoming” star with Apple officials following his recent crime drama “Cherry (2021)”, in which he portrayed an army veteran suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, who turns bank robber to pay for his drug addiction.

Holland will next be seen reprising his role as Peter Parker in Marvel Cinematic Universe’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, which is set to be released in December 2021. His other project, “Uncharted”, is slated to be released theatrically in 2022.

Gemma Chan Voices Urgency in Producing Podcast and Film About Murder of Vincent Chin

    Instagram

Amid an uptick in hate crimes targeting Asians over COVID-19, the ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ actress partners with audio series bosses at QCODE to stage a table read of ‘Hold Still, Vincent’.

    Apr 9, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Actress Gemma Chan is producing a new podcast and film about a 1982 Asian hate crime and murder.

The “Crazy Rich Asians” star has partnered with audio series bosses at QCODE to stage a table read of “Hold Still, Vincent”, about tragic Vincent Chin, who was murdered by a pair of disgruntled white auto industry workers, days before his wedding.

The recording, which will be produced by officials at A-Major and M88, will be released first as a podcast, before the script, written by Johnny Ngo, is turned into a film, directed by twins Aaron and Winston Tao.

Chin’s killers were convinced he was Japanese and blamed cheaper car imports from Japan for layoffs at U.S. manufacturing plants. Though the killing was widely viewed as a hate crime at the time, the two men convicted of causing Vincent’s death never served a day in jail and were ordered to pay a fine and serve three years’ probation, resulting in widespread outrage.

The uproar is often regarded as a turning point for Asian-American civil rights.

“The death of Vincent Chin occurred during a dark time in America’s history with unsettling parallels to what we have seen happen over the past year with the stoking of hatred towards Asians and the scapegoating of Asians for COVID-19,” Chan shares in a statement, obtained by Deadline.

“However, it also brought Asian-Americans together to form multi-ethnic and multi-racial alliances in the pursuit of justice and to advocate for change. It feels more urgent than ever to bring Vincent’s story to a wider audience.”

The news of the podcast comes amid an uptick in hate crimes targeting Asians in the U.S., attributed to the origins of COVID-19 in Wuhan, China.

Millie Bobby Brown Scolds 'Stranger Things' Co-Star David Harbour for Spilling Season 4 Spoilers

    WENN/Instar/Derrick Salters

The Eleven depicter cuts short her onscreen father’s Instagram Live after noticing that the actor is going live from the set still in his character’s costume and bloody makeup.

    Apr 9, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Millie Bobby Brown has just called out David Harbour. Upon learning her “Stranger Things” co-star spilled spoilers of the series’ season 4 on social media, the Eleven depicter jokingly scolded him.

The 17-year-old’s reaction came after her on-screen father hopped on Instagram Live on Wednesday, April 7 while he was still in his character’s costume and bloody makeup. “What’s up, everybody? How’s it going? I haven’t done Instagram Live in a little while. I think I can only be here for like three and a half minutes because I think I have to go to set fairly soon,” he began.

“I’m here, shooting season four of our television show,” the Jim Hopper depicter further divulged. “I don’t think I’m supposed to be showing you these things. Who wants to hear spoilers for season four? Let me just read directly from the script.”

David then burst out laughing when Millie commented on his Live. “Oh s**t! Millie! Oh, no. Millie, don’t tell Netflix, don’t tell Netflix that I’m doing Instagram Live from set,” he said, before lightheartedly threatening her, “I’m just going to read your sections of the script, Millie. I’m just gonna tell everybody what happens to Eleven this season.”

After David allowed Millie to join the Live, she yelled, “What are you doing?!” In response to her question, he laughed and replied, “I don’t know, I’m so crazy. I’m so crazy I shouldn’t be doing this.” When she asked whether he was in his costume, he questioned back, “They saw it in the trailer. Didn’t they see it?”

Feeling surprised by the actor’s answer, the teen was quick to scream, “Get off of live and go back to work! You’re getting a phone call [from Netflix] right now.” He then quipped, “I know… I’m getting fired.”

“Stranger Things” season 4 is currently on its production after being shut down in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Gaten Matarazzo recently told Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” that the upcoming season might end up being the “scariest” one yet.

    Apr 9, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Actor Lucas Till has bid a fond farewell to his title role as MacGyver after TV bosses announced the current season five would be its last.

The star will appear as Angus MacGyver for the final time as the series finale airs on America’s CBS on 30 April (21), and Till has now reflected on the impact of the action reboot on his career in a farewell post on Instagram.

“Where to begin?” he started. “The past five years have been what I will look on later as THE most formative years of my life.”

“Lots of tough, lots of love. I made life long friends, actually no, family. I learned to push myself to new limits, breaking through and through and through.”

“Was nervous to take up the mantle of an icon and you guys allowed me into your homes and accepted me. I’m like the Roger Moore of MacGyvers now thanks to your support. Lol (laugh out loud) (sic).”

Till went on to offer a “love letter” to his colleagues on the show, insisting they have become his “new family” as he expressed his eternal gratitude to the entire cast and crew.

“MacGyver” was a reboot of the original 1985 series, which starred Richard Dean Anderson.

Wilmer Valderrama penned a similar comment, “I am incredibly proud to know you through all of this my brother. You are a true leader, can’t wait to be front row for your next chapter!”
