Idris Elba Struggled During 'Concrete Cowboy' Filming Due to Horse Allergy

    Netflix

The ‘Star Trek Beyond’ actor reveals he suffered from runny nose during the filming of his new movie due to horse allergy and often had to hide his face behind mask.

    Apr 4, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Idris Elba had no intention of starring in new Western “Concrete Cowboy” after signing on as a producer, because he is allergic to horses.

The “Thor” star was originally approached to help get the movie made as a behind-the-scenes talent, and he didn’t hesitate to jump onboard as he was fascinated by the story, which focuses on a troubled black teen stuck between a life of crime and his estranged father’s urban-cowboy subculture.

The film is based on the Greg Neri novel “Ghetto Cowboy”, which was inspired by the Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club, based at an inner-city stables in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and urban African-American horseriding culture.

“I was asked to be a producer on the film before being an actor, and I read that script on a flight, and as soon as we landed, I said, ‘We have to do this,’ ” Idris told U.S. breakfast show “Today”.

“It’s such a beautiful story, there’s so much common truth, even though it’s a story about stables and people we might not have known exist, but I really got touched by the story and signed on (as a producer) immediately.”

Idris initially wanted nothing to do with becoming a castmember, but he later relented and took on the role of the protagonist’s father – in spite of his allergies.

“I didn’t want to play (any character or have) anything to do with it because I’m allergic to horses, so I was like, ‘Someone else can have that, I’m good, but I want to make this film,’ and eventually I got involved so I took some antihistamines,” he smiled.

However, he made sure to make the most of the bandana, which made up part of his cowboy costume, to shield his health struggles from the camera.

“There’s a lot of shots where I’ve got a mask over my mouth, and it does look cool, but it’s to hide my runny nose!” he laughed.

“Concrete Cowboy”, which co-stars “Stranger Things” actor Caleb McLaughlin, debuts on Netflix on Friday

Jeffrey Dean Morgan: There's 'Huge Pivot' When 'The Walking Dead' Was Announced to End

    AMC

The Negan depicter, just like everyone else, is caught off guard as the zombie television series was announced to conclude with the upcoming eleventh season.

    Apr 4, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Jeffrey Dean Morgan is still struggling with the abrupt end of TV hit “The Walking Dead”, insisting it came as a complete surprise.

The actor, who plays Negan on the long-running zombie drama, admits his castmates and show bosses were all stunned when it was announced the series was coming to an end last year (20).

“The news… was a complete surprise, not only to me and the rest of the actors, but to everybody involved in the show from production,” he tells Collider. “(Chief content officer) Scott Gimple and (showrunner) Angela Kang had no idea either.”

      See also…

“It came from nowhere and there was such a huge pivot. I think they had Season 11 all mapped out, where they were going to go, and suddenly it became, ‘We also have to close the story…’ And then they threw in the six tacked-on episodes to Season 10, and instead of doing 16, we’re going to do 24 more. There was a lot of stuff to wrap our heads around.”

Morgan insists it doesn’t feel like the end yet, but he and his castmates know it’s coming, “We have another year here to shoot, and we’re shooting straight through. It’s brutal. But I know it’s there. It’s in the back of all of our heads that it’s there.”

“The Walking Dead” will conclude after airing the eleventh season. The production, which was halted in 2020 due to pandemic, has resumed earlier this year.

The show spawned a TV spinoff “Fear the Walking Dead” which is entering seventh season.

David Duchovny Calls Himself 'Dumb' for Almost Rejecting 'The X-Files' Role

    FOX

The Fox Mulder depicter reveals he nearly missed out the role of a lifetime in the classic sci-fi television series because he didn’t want to pull out of his pal’s project.

    Apr 4, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
David Duchovny almost turned down his career defining role in “The X-Files” because he was shooting a TV movie with a pal.

The actor didn’t want to let his friend down and quit the project, so he told his agents he wasn’t interested in what became the role of a lifetime.

“I had gotten… a couple of scenes in this movie of the week, and it was a director who I was friendly with, and I was going to have to… pull out of that part to do The X-Files pilot,” David told Rob Lowe on his “Literally!” podcast. “I said to my agents, ‘I don’t want to do that. You know, she’s a friend, and I don’t want to pull out.’ (I said), ‘X-Files, this is about extra-terrestrials. How long can it go? It’s a good pilot but you’re either going to see the aliens or (not).’ ”

      See also…

“I wasn’t interested in conspiracy theories, and I was perfectly willing to just say, ‘I’m going to have to pass on that pilot, because I said I’d do this other project.’ ”

Duchovny is glad his agent talked him into taking the role of Fox Mulder, “It’s scary to think back on; if you didn’t open this door, or you took that left instead of that right. It’s, like, none of it had to happen. You talk about actors being dumb… well, that was me.”

The show ended in 2002. It was revived in 2016 and returned to TV again in 2018. It was also adapted for the big screen in 1998 and a stand-alone film in 2008.

Salma Hayek Added to Lady GaGa's 'House of Gucci'

    WENN

The ‘From Dusk till Dawn’ actress becomes the latest addition to the star-studded cast ensemble of the upcoming true-story drama about the murder of fashion icon Maurizio Gucci.

    Apr 4, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Salma Hayek has joined the star-studded cast of Lady Gaga’s new movie “House of Gucci”.

The Mexican actress will play clairvoyant Pina Auriemma in the drama, which chronicles the murder of fashion empire heir Maurizio Gucci.

Adam Driver, Al Pacino, Jeremy Irons, Jared Leto, and Jack Huston will also appear in the movie, currently shooting in Italy.

“So happy to have my good buddy Salma join our wonderful cast!” producer Giannina Scott tells Deadline. “I’ve been talking with her about this Gucci project for 20 years! Now it’s happening and she is a part of it.”

Gaga leads the cast as Patrizia Reggiani, who was sentenced to 25 years behind bars in 1998 for plotting to kill her husband, Gucci, played by Driver.

Maurizio allegedly angered Patrizia, whom he shared two daughters with, after he left her for another woman.

While she was depicted as a hot blooded woman out for revenge and dubbed the Black Widow, her children blamed her actions on the aftereffect of the medical procedure where she had a brain tumour removed.

Giannina Scott reportedly has been eyeing the movie for a long time. The producer started to pursue the movie, framed around the rise of a family business that denigrated into squabbles over control of the business and greed, at a time when Gucci was being corporatised.

The script is penned by Roberto Bentivegna and is based on “The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed” by Sara Gay Forden.

The MGM movie is slated for release on November 24, 2021.

Diablo Cody Has Finished Script for Madonna's Biopic Before Leaving

    WENN/Instagram

Rumors suggesting the Oscar-winning screenwriter left the upcoming biopic because she didn’t see eye to eye with the ‘Material Girl’ hitmaker has been debunked.

    Apr 4, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Diablo Cody has finished the script for Madonna’s self-directed biopic.

Despite reports that creative differences had led to the Juno screenwriter stepping down from the project, a source has now told Entertainment Weekly that Cody has “completed her work and moved on to her next project.”

The insider added that Cody and Madonna, 62, have sent a final draft of the script to Universal, the studio, which is developing the movie, after spending much of 2020 working on the project.

Madonna announced the biopic last year, saying in a statement, “I want to convey the incredible journey that life has taken me on as an artist, a musician, a dancer – a human being, trying to make her way in this world. The focus of this film will always be music. Music has kept me going and art has kept me alive. There are so many untold and inspiring stories and who better to tell it than me. It’s essential to share the roller coaster ride of my life with my voice and vision.”

Amy Pascal is set to produce under her Pascal Pictures banner alongside Madonna herself whilst Sara Zambreno and Guy Oseary will executive produce.

No casting has been announced for the project, but “13 Reasons Why” star Anne Winters launched an Instagram campaign last year in hopes to land the lead role.

The actress began sharing posts of herself sporting looks made famous by the “Material Girl” singer in an effort to get the pop icon’s attention.

'Charmed' Cast React After Ex-Producer Says It Stopped Becoming 'Girl Power Show' Halfway Through

    The WB

Alyssa Milano and co-star Holly Marie Combs defend their classic television show after a former producer says she quit the series due to oversexualization.

    Apr 4, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Alyssa Milano and Holly Marie Combs are defending their beloved TV series “Charmed” after a former producer revealed she quit the show when it started catering to lusty men.

In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Krista Vernoff claims she exited the series when it started becoming “bad for the world”, insisting it stopped becoming “a girl power show” when men started tuning in to ogle the stars.

“About halfway through there was an episode where Alyssa Milano comes out in mermaid pasties and there was a huge spike in male viewership, and then every episode after, the question would come from the network, ‘How are we getting the girls naked this week?’ ” Krista told the publication.

Castmates Alyssa and Holly reacted to her comments on social media, insisting Charmed was always a “girl power show.”

      See also…

“This absolutely broke my heart,” Milano wrote on Twitter. “I hope we didn’t make something that was ‘bad for the world’ for eight years.”

“I think we gave permission to a generation of women to be themselves and to be strong and own their sexuality. I’m so proud of what this show meant to so many.”

Co-star Combs replied to Alyssa’s tweet, adding, “I can attest 1000 per cent Charmed was not bad for the world. The reasons and people are too long to list. Maybe it was bad for Krista’s world at the time. End story…”

“And the fact that we can still stand up for ourselves and the show and the people who loved it proves this. I never cared what producer or network exec wanted us more naked for their $ (sic). And still don’t. We knew how to rally against it and found our own power. And still do.”

Elizabeth Perkins Says Tom Hanks Love Scene in Movie 'Big' Would Cause Uproar Today

    WENN

The ‘How to Live with Your Parents’ actress insists her suggestive scene with the ‘Saving Private Ryan’ actor would never be approved if the movie were made today.

    Apr 3, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Elizabeth Perkins insists her love scene with Tom Hanks in “Big” would never be allowed today.

The actress played Hanks’ love interest in the 1988 comedy, in which a teenager lands his dream job for a toy company after exchanging bodies with an adult, and she tells Page Six there’s no way Hollywood bosses would have signed off on a scene that suggests Perkins’ character, Susan, fooled around with an underaged boy.

“We don’t see them having sex but he does take my shirt off,” she explains. “Actually, I take my shirt off and he touches my breast, then we cut to the elevator door opening and he’s got a big smile on his face. We never say, ‘Oh they slept together,’ but they definitely fooled around.”

      See also…

“They wouldn’t have shown that at all (today). I think we’re in a different time (and) I’m totally on board with that… It was not even a consideration of ours at the time. It was not even something we broached or discussed on any level.”

Meanwhile, Elizabeth admits few people thought the film would be a hit until Hanks was cast as the lead.

“There were a lot of movies within the same genre that were coming out,” she adds. “Originally, the film had been with Robert De Niro, and then Harrison Ford. (Director) Penny (Marshall) cast me, but she was having trouble with the lead. Then when Tom came on board it all just cemented. We knew we were going to be better than the other body-changing movies because of Penny and Tom.”

Jeremy Irons Screamed at Bob Odenkirk Over Bad 'SNL' Monologue

    WENN

The ‘Dead Ringers’ actor was so mad that he yelled at the ‘Breaking Bad’ star after finding the ‘Saturday Night Live’ monologue the latter wrote for him was not really great.

    Apr 3, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Bob Odenkirk isn’t looking forward to his next encounter with Jeremy Irons because, the last time the two actors met, the Brit yelled at the “Breaking Bad” star.

Odenkirk was a writer on U.S. sketch comedy show “Saturday Night Live” before he hit the big time and he was charged with writing a monologue for guest host Irons.

Bob won an Emmy for being part of the writing team, but Irons wasn’t a fan.

“Rob Schneider and I had written this monologue, and it wasn’t great,” Odenkirk told “The Howard Stern Show”. “He was right. He was really mad. He was so mad.”

“(He said), ‘I can sing. I can dance. I can juggle. I am a Shakespearean-trained actor. And you have me doing this?’ ”

Bob secretly taped the Oscar winner’s outburst and played it at parties.

      See also…

“I had a little recorder, and I taped it because I loved it so much,” Bob said. “And he was right, God bless him. It wasn’t a great monologue, but he’s a trouper.”

“I played it for many people. I don’t know where it is now. It’s at the bottom of a bin somewhere. It exists.”

While his “SNL” stint earned him prestigious award, Bob Odenkirk had some regrets.

In a previous interview, he admitted he was “such a prick back then.”

“I was so opinionated. I was a very opinionated comedy writer,” he said. “I wish I was a sweeter fellow because I had a great opportunity there.”

“I learned a lot about comedy writing and I made some great friends for life at that show, but I still wish I’d just handled it better, but don’t you always wish that about your young self?”

Besides writing for the “SNL”, the “Better Call Saul” star penned for “The Ben Stiller Show” and “Late Night with Conan O’Brien”.
