Eddie Murphy Has This as Condition for Him to Do 'Beverly Hills Cop 4'

    Paramount Pictures

The fourth movie in the action-comedy franchise has been in development at Netflix for years, and ‘Bad Boys for Life’ directors have previously confirmed first draft of the script was being written.

    Mar 22, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Eddie Murphy won’t be reviving his role as Axel Foley in another “Beverly Hills Cop” film unless the script is perfect. A fourth movie in the action-comedy franchise has been in development at Netflix for years, but Eddie insists he’s in no rush to start work on the project, as he has yet to see a script he likes.

The funnyman, who recently dropped the sequel to another beloved film, “Coming 2 America”, told Desus & Mero, “They’ve been trying to make another ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ for 15 years now. Right now, Netflix has it, and they’re trying to develop a script. That’s what we’re supposed to be doing next. But, I’m not doing nothing until the script is right.”

“Bad Boys for Life” directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are helming the revival of the franchise and they confirmed last year (2020) that a first draft of the script was being written.

Adil said, “We’re still involved in that project, and there’s a screenwriter now on it that’s going to try to write a first draft, or a first treatment at least with the story. So we’re going to see what the first version will be… When I was a kid, it was one of my favourite movies. It was the quintessential Jerry Bruckheimer movie – a buddy-cop, humor action movie… And of course, Eddie Murphy is an idol.”

The original “Beverly Hills Cop” was released in 1984. It follows Axel, a street-smart Detroit cop who pursues his friend’s murderer to Beverly Hills, California. Directed by Martin Brest, it has Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Lisa Eilbacher, Ronny Cox and Steevn Berkoff in its cast ensemble. Two sequels, “Beverly Hills Cop II” and “Beverly Hills Cop III”, came out in 1987 and 1994 respectively.

Charles Dance Recalls How David Fincher Pitched Him William Randolph Hearst Role for 'Mank'

    WENN/Ivan Nikolov

Speaking about his ‘megalomaniac’ part in the acclaimed new movie, the ‘Alien 3’ actor claims to be inspired by former President Donald Trump and media tycoon Rupert Murdoch.

    Mar 22, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Charles Dance jumped at the chance to be a glorified extra in David Fincher’s acclaimed new movie “Mank”.

The actor appeared in the director’s first film, “Alien 3”, and the pair has kept in touch over the years, but the Brit was still surprised when the moviemaker asked him to play newspaper tycoon William Randolph Hearst in his latest project, which explores the making of Hollywood classic “Citizen Kane”.

Dance was delighted to work with Fincher again and admits he would have done anything on set.

“Out of the blue, I got this email saying he’s making a film around the making of ‘Citizen Kane’, and how would I like to go over and play Hearst?” Charles tells The Daily Telegraph magazine. “He said, ‘It’s a glorified extra, but I’d love you to do it’. I read the script and thought it was a bit more than a glorified extra, more of a telling cameo, but I said, ‘David, I would come and change light bulbs for you’.”

      See also…

After accepting the role, the actor reveals former U.S. President Donald Trump and media tycoon Rupert Murdoch helped inspire his portrayal of the “megalomaniac” Hearst.

“I read a couple of books, tried to get examples of his voice, (but) also thought about people of my generation, like Rupert Murdoch and – although he’s considerably down the intellectual scale – Donald Trump. Hearst was an extraordinarily wealthy man, but he was a bit of a megalomaniac, and veered between being entertaining and charming and being a complete b**tard.”

Fincher famously has exacting standards and shot most scenes dozens of times, with one lengthy dinner scene taking over 40 takes to perfect, which Charles admitted was “very hard” on lead actor Gary Oldman.

“It was very hard work for Gary, because wherever David was shooting, it was either on Gary or a reaction from one of us – so Gary, rightly but also generously, was just firing on all 12 cylinders [in every take],” he explains.

All the hard work paid off – “Mank” is not only a critical hit, it landed more Oscar nods than any other film when the Academy Awards nominations were announced last week, March 15.

    Mar 22, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
The Writers Guild of America Awards has presented the trophies for the best screenwriting for 2020. Announced on Monday, March 22, the winners of the 2021 WGA Awards included “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm” and “The Crown”.

The “Borat” sequel won for Adapted Screenplay. The movie’s star Sacha Baron Cohen co-wrote the script with Anthony Hines, Dan Swimer, Peter Baynham, Erica Rivinoja and others based on the characters he created.

Accepting the award, Cohen quipped of the film’s long list of writers, “I can’t help but think that we won it because 60 percent of the Writers Guild worked on this movie.” He added, “A film like this is extremely hard to write, partly because it stars real people whose behavior is completely unpredictable. Well, apart, of course, for Rudy Giuliani, who did everything we hoped for.”

“Promising Young Woman” emerged as a victor in Original Screenplay category, with the award going to Emerald Fennell. Fennell, who also directed the film, said in her speech, “I wish I could be in the room and see everyone in person. As it is, I will say thank from my bleak writers room in England.”

“The Dissident”, written by Mark Monroe and Bryan Fogel, rounded up the movie winner list with its win in Documentary Screenplay category.

“The Crown”, meanwhile, won one of the coveted awards in TV categories as it nabbed the best script for a drama series, with the trophy going to Peter Morgan and Jonathan Wilson. Jason Sudeikis’ sports drama “Ted Lasso”, however, was the biggest winner in television field at it nabbed two awards, for Comedy Series and New Series.

'The Talk' Hiatus Continues With No Official Return Date After Sharon Osbourne's Outburst

    CBS

The production on CBS’ all-female panel show has been shelved for another week as the bosses continue investigation amid racism and homophobic allegations against Sharon.

    Mar 22, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Production on Sharon Osbourne’s U.S. show “The Talk” has been shelved for another week as TV bosses continue to investigate a live on-air spat between the Brit and co-host Sheryl Underwood.

The pair fell out over Sharon’s defence of newsman pal Piers Morgan’s attack on the Duchess of Sussex when Underwood attempted to suggest his comments about the royal’s tabloid torment, made on “Good Morning Britain”, were racist.

Clearly upset, Sharon demanded an explanation from Sheryl, insisting her outburst inferred that she was a racist for stating Morgan was paid to have an opinion.

“I feel like I’m about to be put in the electric chair because I have a friend who many people think is racist, so that makes me a racist,” Osbourne said. She apologised for the exchange the next day on Twitter.

Following the awkward stand-off on the 10 March (21) episode, former “The Talk” co-hosts Holly Robinson Peete and Leah Remini turned on Osbourne and claimed they had heard her use racially-insensitive and homophobic language behind the scenes on the show.

Sharon responded by calling the allegations a “setup” and defiantly telling her detractors to “f**k off.”

The whole drama prompted CBS bosses to shut down “The Talk” and put the show on hiatus for a week. That week has now been extended and now no official return date has been set.

The TV bosses continue to investigate the heated exchange between Osbourne and Underwood.

“CBS is committed to a diverse, inclusive and respectful workplace across all of our productions,” a CBS spokesman says. “We’re also very mindful of the important concerns expressed and discussions taking place regarding events on The Talk. This includes a process where all voices are heard, claims are investigated and appropriate action is taken where necessary.”

Dua Lipa Has Been Looking at Scripts as She Plans to Branch Out Into Acting

    Instagram

The ‘Don’t Start Now’ hitmaker reveals that she has been reading some scripts as she is hoping to launch an acting career and follow in Lady GaGa’s footsteps.

    Mar 21, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Dua Lipa has been reading scripts for a potential move into acting.

In a new interview with the Los Angeles Times, Dua revealed that she’s been looking at various possibilities, with the writer commenting that an acting gig “seems all but inevitable.”

While she didn’t go into any further details about the kinds of scripts she’s been reading, the “Don’t Start Now” hitmaker previously told The Scotsman in an interview last year (20) that she was keen to follow in Lady GaGa’s footsteps by taking on a TV show like “American Horror Story”.

      See also…

“I would love to do that. I wouldn’t want do acting right now – I don’t think I’m quite there yet, I think I should focus on music – but if I was to try TV it would have to be something as crazy as a show like that,” she grinned.

Dua is currently at the top of her game in the music industry and recently celebrated her Best Pop Vocal Album Grammy award for her LP “Future Nostalgia” at a butterfly-themed party thrown by her boyfriend Anwar Hadid.

The celebration came after Dua branded her Best Pop Vocal Album Grammy Award win “insane.”

Reflecting on her award, she said, “Oh my goodness. Wow, thank you so much. This is insane. Future Nostalgia means the absolute world to me and it has changed my life in so many ways. But one thing that I have really come to realise is how much happiness is so important. I felt really dated at the end of my last album where I felt like I only had to make sad music to feel like it mattered. And I’m just so grateful and so honoured because happiness is something we all deserve and need in our lives. This means so much. Thanks to my family and friends watching at home, I love you, thank you.”

Sebastian Stan: Having Black Captain America Is 'Incredibly Powerful Symbol'

    Disney Plus

The Winter Soldier depicter explains why his superhero series with Anthony Mackie, ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’, is Marvel’s most relevant show yet.

    Mar 21, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Sebastian Stan believes “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” is Marvel’s “most relevant show yet.”

The actor, 38, appears in the forthcoming Disney+ show as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier and, speaking to GQ Hype, he admitted he had to “find his (character’s) voice” to get into the role.

Sharing his concerns about having “longer scenes” and “a lot more dialogue” between himself and co-star Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson, Stan explained, “Well, in a way it’s the bit that worried me the most. Not as an actor, per se, but as a fan of the character.”

“Winter Soldier and Falcon have worked together best when they’ve had little to say to one another. We’re good at quips. So, now, what are they going to say to one another?”

      See also…

“For this show, I had to find his voice, in all senses, and do it in a way that was timely to what is going on in 2021.”

He continued, “Look, you can’t do a show that explores the title of Captain America without touching on some of the stuff we have seen on the news. In fact, I would argue this is Marvel’s most relevant show yet.”

“A Black Captain America is an incredibly powerful symbol, for all those reasons we were discussing, but also he was the right man from a character standpoint (to) take the shield, regardless of race.”

“Bucky wouldn’t be emotionally intelligent enough or mentally stable enough to be able to handle such huge shoes. His moral compass is somewhat questionable too.”

Stan first appeared as Bucky in “Captain America: The First Avenger” in 2011 but appeared to die at the end of the film. However, in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”, it was revealed Bucky had survived and he went on to appear in various instalments of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Adam Lambert Auditioned for Latino Role in Lady GaGa's 'A Star Is Born'

    Instagram

The ‘American Idol’ alum reveals he did a test for the Latino gay character in the Bradley Cooper-directed musical romantic drama movie even though he’s not Latino.

    Mar 21, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Adam Lambert auditioned for the role of Lady GaGa’s gay pal in “A Star Is Born” even though he knew he was a bad fit for the part.

Keen to be part of Bradley Cooper’s movie, the singer agreed to test for the role of Ramon even though he wasn’t Latino.

“It was so funny to me, because they told me about it and they were like, ‘She’s going to have, like, a gay best friend,’ and I was like, ‘OK, that could be cute,’ ” Adam said during an appearance on the latest episode of podcast “Brenda, Call Me! With Courtney Act and Vanity”, “and then I got the script and it was like… He was a Latin American character, like he was a Latino character.”

      See also…

“His name was Latino, a lot of the slang that he was using (was Latin). He was calling her (Gaga’s character) ‘Mami’ and all this stuff, and I was like, ‘Now how is this gonna work? Should I just not go to the audition? This is not my part.’ ”

The part eventually went to “Hamilton” actor Anthony Ramos.

Anthony Ramos, Lady GaGa, and their castmates went on to get nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture at the SAG Awards while the movie received numerous accolades including an Oscar, Golden Globe, and several Grammys.

Adam Lambert himself is no stranger to acting. He guest-starred on several episodes of “Glee”, joined TV movie “The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let’s Do the Time Warp Again”, made a cameo appearance in Freddie Mercury biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody”, and lent his voice to animated film “Playmobil: The Movie”.

LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian to Have Onscreen Reunion on 'Country Comfort'

    Instagram

The ‘How Do I Live’ hitmaker has landed a cameo appearance on her husband’s Netflix drama series ‘Country Comfort’, more than a decade after their onscreen romance in ‘Northern Lights’.

    Mar 21, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
LeAnn Rimes has made a touching cameo on her husband Eddie Cibrian’s new Netflix drama, playing his late TV wife’s favourite singer.

LeAnn plays herself in the fifth episode of “Country Comfort”, which debuted this week (ends19Mar21).

In the drama, Eddie plays a widowed single father raising five kids with the help of a nanny, played by new mum Katharine McPhee.

On the episode, Rimes agrees to visit Eddie’s character and his kids after learning how much of a fan his late wife was, and performs “I Need You” and “Can’t Fight the Moonlight” at their home.

“Caryn Lucas, our showrunner, called and said, ‘Hey, we got this part. We think LeAnn would be perfect for it. Do you think she’d want to do it…?’ ” Eddie told Us Weekly.

“So I asked her… and she’s like, ‘Oh, I’d love to.’ And that’s how it kind of came about – pretty organic.”

On Friday, Rimes posted a shot of herself and Cibrian on the set and added the caption, “So proud and excited for my hubby @EddieCibrian and the whole CC cast and crew! Their brand new series #CountryComfort is out TODAY on @netflix. They had a ‘take your wife to work day’ while filming, so I got to go play on set.”
