Vivica A. Fox and Lance Bass Blame Unlikeable Pro Dance Partners for Their 'DWTS' Eliminations

    WENN

The ‘Empire’ alum and the NSYNC member claim the ‘Dancing with the Stars’ judges gave them low scores because they couldn’t stand their respective dance partners.

    Mar 20, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Actress Vivica A. Fox insists she was kicked off U.S. TV talent contest “Dancing With the Stars” because the judges couldn’t stand her professional dance partner.

The “Empire” star teamed up with Nick Kosovich on the show in 2006 and she’s still sore she only made it to the fourth week of the season, claiming low scores from the judges had nothing to do with her performance.

Talking candidly on cable TV show “Overserved” with Lisa Vanderpump, the “Kill Bill” star said, “I made it to week four and I was a sore loser,” before adding, “Nick was one of the main reasons we got kicked off… You’ve got to play the game. My partner made too many requests.”

Vivica, a former dancer on iconic American TV show “Soul Train”, insists she trained “six hours a day” and should have progressed further in the competition.

And she’s not the only former contestant making the shocking claims – former NSYNC star Lance Bass, who guested alongside Vivica on Vanderpump’s programme, insisted he too was punished for having an unpopular partner.

“We were in the same boat,” he added. “My partner was new. She was the bad girl of ballroom and the judges just hated her. And we felt it.”

Lance and his ballroom dancing pro, Lacey Schwimmer, made it to the show’s seventh season finale in 2008 before they were sent home, and he reveals one of the show’s then judges made a tipsy confession.

“We make it to (the show’s) finale,” Lance recalls, “and then we go have drinks at one of the judge’s houses and they had a little too much to drink, and one of those judges was like, ‘You know we can’t stand your partner.’ I’m like, ‘Well then, why am I working my a** off this week?’ ”

“Dancing with the Stars” bosses have yet to comment on the claims.

Oscar Nominees Warned There's No Option to Attend 2021 Ceremony via Zoom

    Instagram

The committee behind the Academy Awards has issued a notice, informing the 2021 nominees that they won’t be able to attend the upcoming ceremony via video link.

    Mar 20, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Oscar nominees have been warned that connecting to the Academy Awards via video link is “not an option.”

The ceremony will take place next month (Apr21) as an in-person event, with organisers opting to treat it as an “active movie set,” with various coronavirus safety measures in place.

In a letter sent out to over 200 nominees on the shortlists on Thursday (18Mar21), producers detailed the “great lengths” they were going to in a bid to stage a “safe and enjoyable” evening.

While producers Steven Soderbergh, Jesse Collins, and Stacey Sher acknowledged some may be uneasy about it being an in-person event at Los Angeles’ Union Station – albeit with “additional show elements live from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood” – they sought to offer reassurance.

They wrote, “Of course, your first thought is CAN THAT BE DONE SAFELY? The answer is YES, IT CAN. We are treating the event as an active movie set, with specially designed testing cadences to ensure up-to-the-minute results, including an on-site COVID safety team with PCR testing capability.”

Guests attending from outside of Los Angeles will receive further “specific instructions”, which will vary from those already living in the city. And those who are “unable to attend because of scheduling or continued uneasiness about travelling” were told “there will not be an option to Zoom in for the show.”

“We are going to great lengths to provide a safe and ENJOYABLE evening for all of you in person, as well as for all the millions of film fans around the world, and we feel the virtual thing will diminish those efforts,” they added.

The producers encouraged winners to make speeches “personal” but keep them short and expressed their hope that the ceremony, which takes place on 25 April, will have a “feeling of casual exchange and good humour.”

And they want to set the tone with a “pre-show gathering” immediately before the ceremony.

“The good news is you should be pretty relaxed by show time because you will have been at a pre-show gathering in the Union Station courtyard for the previous ninety minutes with your fellow nominees and their guests (ONLY nominees and their guests will be attending the show, by the way. Oh, and the presenters!),” they continued.

The letter also touched on the night’s dress code, stressing casual attire would not be welcomed.

“You’re wondering about the Dress Code (as well you should). We’re aiming for a fusion of Inspirational and Aspirational, which in actual words means formal is totally cool if you want to go there, but casual is really not,” the note concluded. In addition to having a smaller guest list this year, it was previously announced that both the annual Oscar Nominees Luncheon, which takes place in the lead up to the ceremony, and the post-event Governor’s Ball have been cancelled for this year.

Sharon Stone Recalls Rejecting 'Basic Instinct' Producer's Advice to Sleep With Co-Star

    WENN/Avalon

The Golden Globe Award-winning actress also remembers slapping the movie’s director Paul Verhoeven after watching her infamous leg-crossing scene for the first time.

    Mar 19, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
“Basic Instinct” may be one of Sharon Stone’s most popular films to date, but filming for the movie has also left her with some bad experiences as a woman working in the industry. In her upcoming memoir “The Beauty of Living Twice”, the actress is looking back at the time she shot the 1992 erotic thriller.

In an excerpt from the book obtained by Vanity Fair, the 63-year-old recalls being told by one of the producers to sleep with a co-star to build a chemistry. “I had a producer bring me to his office, where he had malted milk balls in a little milk-carton-type container under his arm with the spout open,” she shares. “He walked back and forth in his office with the balls falling out of the spout and rolling all over the wood floor as he explained to me why I should f**k my costar so that we could have onscreen chemistry.”

But Sharon stood up for her own self, turning down the producer’s suggestion. “Why, in his day, he made love to Ava Gardner onscreen and it was so sensational! Now just the creepy thought of him in the same room with Ava Gardner gave me pause,” she writes. She recalls thinking, “You guys insisted on this actor when he couldn’t get one whole scene out in the test…. Now you think if I f**k him, he will become a fine actor? Nobody’s that good in bed.”

She continues, “I felt they could have just hired a co-star with talent, someone who could deliver a scene and remember his lines. I also felt they could f**k him themselves and leave me out of it. It was my job to act and I said so.” As a result, Sharon says she was labeled “difficult.”

Sharon doesn’t reveal the name of the producer who made such suggestion and which co-star that the producer suggested she should sleep with.

While she managed to protect herself at the time, Sharon reveals being manipulated into stripping down for that infamous leg-crossing scene. She says she agreed to take off her panties believing that her private part would not be visible on camera. But she was shocked and left angered after seeing the scene for the first time.

“After we shot ‘Basic Instinct’, I got called in to see it. Not on my own with the director, as one would anticipate, given the situation that has given us all pause, so to speak, but with a room full of agents and lawyers, most of whom had nothing to do with the project,” she writes. “That was how I saw my vagina-shot for the first time, long after I’d been told, ‘We can’t see anything-I just need you to remove your panties, as the white is reflecting the light, so we know you have panties on.’ ”

The Catherine Tramell depicter says that she “slapped” director Paul Verhoeven “across the face” following the screening and called her lawyer, Marty Singer, who said she could get an injunction. “First, at that time, this would give the film an X rating. Remember, this was 1992, not now, when we see erect penises on Netflix. And, Marty said, per the Screen Actors Guild, my union, it wasn’t legal to shoot up my dress in this fashion. Whew, I thought,” she explains her rage.

“After the screening, I let Paul know of the options Marty had laid out for me. Of course, he vehemently denied that I had any choices at all. I was just an actress, just a woman; what choices could I have?” she further claims. “But I did have choices. So I thought and thought and I chose to allow this scene in the film. Why? Because it was correct for the film and for the character; and because, after all, I did it.”

Noting that sexual exploitation has been a common practice in the industry for a long time, Sharon remarks, “Sex, not just sexuality onscreen, has long been expected in my business.”

Sharon’s memoir will be available March 30 via publisher Knopf.

Andy Cohen Thinks 'The Talk' Hiatus Over Sharon Osbourne Controversy Is Unnecessary

    WENN/Instar/FayesVision

The ‘Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen’ host believes it would be better if the wife of Ozzy Osbourne and the daily talk show address her scandal ‘on the air.’

    Mar 19, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Andy Cohen has weighed in on “The Talk” hiatus following Sharon Osbourne’s controversy. Insisting that there is a better way to address the scandal, the “Watch What Happens Live” host expressed his belief that the temporary break of the daily talk show was unnecessary.

The 52-year-old shared his thoughts when speaking on Australia’s “The Kyle And Jackie O Show” radio show. “In my mind, what they should have done with the Sharon Osbourne thing is go back, get back on the horse the next day, talk it out on the air. Keep talking,” he pointed out. “Now we’re investigating it and we’re investigating what happened. It’s like, just keep talking. You know?”

Andy’s comments came after CBS canceled two episodes of “The Talk”. The network made the decision after Sharon got engaged in an on-air heated exchange with co-host Sheryl Underwood over Piers Morgan’s controversial remarks about Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.

CBS was later forced to extend the show’s hiatus until Tuesday, March 23 after Leah Remini accused Sharon of using slurs against their former co-hosts Julie Chen and Sara Gilbert when they were working together. “CBS is committed to a diverse, inclusive and respectful workplace across all of our productions,” the network said in a released statement.

“We’re also very mindful of the important concerns expressed and discussions taking place regarding events on ‘The Talk’,” the statement continued to read. “This includes a process where all voices are heard, claims are investigated and appropriate action is taken where necessary. The show will extend its production hiatus until next Tuesday as we continue to review these issues.”

In a story published by journalist Yashar Ali, Leah claimed Sharon referred to Julie, who is Chinese American, with “slanty eyes” and “wonton.” Leah also spilled that the mother of Kelly Osbourne mocked Sara, who is lesbian, with “p***y licker” and “fish eater.”

    WENN/Avalon

The former star of ‘The Simple Life’ will develop, executive produce and star in a slate of original unscripted television programming for the production company.

    Mar 19, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Paris Hilton has scored a massive new deal with Warner Bros. to develop, executive produce and star in a slate of original unscripted television programming. She will executive produce all ventures alongside veteran media executive Bruce Gersh under their new production banner, Slivington Manor Entertainment.

The deal reunites the socialite with Mike Darnell, the president of Warner Bros. Unscripted Television – he worked with Hilton at Fox, which aired her hit reality show “The Simple Life”.

“Launching Slivington Manor Entertainment is a dream come true and I am so excited to continue connecting with my fans across the globe both in front of the camera and as a producer,” Hilton says. “I am looking forward to working with the incredible Warner Bros. team to create new thought provoking and inspirational long-form content and am beyond thrilled to reunite with Mike Darnell.”

Darnell also shares his thought on working with Hilton once again. “I’ve known Paris since ‘The Simple Life’ brought us together almost 20 years ago. She has always been an incredible talent and entrepreneur,” he gushes. “I couldn’t be more excited to be working with her again and can’t wait for the world to watch the next chapter of her life.”

“The Simple Life” first aired in 2003. For five seasons, it saw Hilton teaming up with fellow socialite Nicole Richie in tackling low-paying jobs, which include clean rooms, do farm work, serve meals in fast-food restaurants and work as camp counselors.

Most recently, the great-granddaughter of Conrad Hilton produced a YouTube documentary about her life titled “This Is Paris”.

Report: 'Thor: Love and Thunder' Finds Valkyrie's Love Interest in 'Game of Thrones' Alum

    Marvel Studios/WENN/Adriana M. Barraza

Words are Lena Headey is added to the cast for the upcoming Marvel movie to romance Tessa Thompson’s character, who will be hailed as the king of New Asgard.

    Mar 19, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Valkyrie could be finding her significant other in “Thor: Love and Thunder”. Rumor has it that the movie is adding Lena Headey to play Tessa Thompson’s onscreen love interest in the Taika Waititi-directed movie.

It should be noted though that the tidbit came from 4chan and has been reposted on the r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers subreddit, which means that this casting news should be taken with a grain of salt. The report also didn’t divulge Headey’s alleged character, but should the report be true, she’ll possibly portray the queen to Valkyrie, who will be hailed as the king of New Asgard in the upcoming movie.

It was previously confirmed that Valkyrie is bisexual and that this would be addressed in the fourth “Thor” movie. This way, she would be Marvel Studios’ first LGBTQ superhero. “She’s bi,” Thompson tweeted in October 2017 in response to a fan who asked about the character’s sexuality. She continued, “And yes, she cares very little about what men think of her,” gushing, “What a joy to play!” Waititi then liked her tweet.

      See also…

As for Headey, she’s no stranger to playing queen, having portrayed Cersei Lannister, the ruthless Queen of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, on HBO’s hit series “Game of Thrones”. She nabbed multiple awards and nominations for the role, including five Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. The 47-year-old actress also starred on “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” series, which ran from 2008 until 2009, and in 2014’s movie “300: Rise of an Empire”.

“Thor: Love and Thunder” is currently in production in Australia. Besides Thompson, the movie brings back Chris Hemsworth as the titular God of Thunder and Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, who will become the Mighty Thor and gain similar powers to Thor.

The movie is scheduled for a May 6, 2022 release in the United States.

Matthew McConaughey Close to Bringing Jake Brigance Back for 'A Time for Mercy'

    Warner Bros.

Having starred in Joel Schumacher’s classic legal drama ‘A Time to Kill’, the ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ actor is said to be in in final negotiations to board its limited series sequel.

    Mar 19, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Matthew McConaughey is preparing to head back into the courtroom to star in a limited series as a sequel to movie classic “A Time to Kill”.

The “Dallas Buyers Club” star brought Jake Brigance to life onscreen in the 1996 film adaptation of John Grisham’s 1989 book of the same name, and last year (2020), McConaughey admitted he was “seriously considering” reprising the role for the author’s latest follow-up, “A Time for Mercy”, after receiving an advance copy of the October release.

The 51-year-old Oscar winner also promoted the book in a September 2020 post. “Jake Brigance is back. A Time For Mercy by John Grisham comes out October 13th,” he simply wrote along side a phot of him seriously reading the novel.

Now Deadline sources have revealed McConaughey is in final negotiations to board the project, which will be developed for U.S. network bosses at HBO. Officials have yet to appoint a writer and director, but industry veteran Lorenzo di Bonaventura will be among the producers.

“A Time to Kill” starred McConaughey as a lawyer tasked with defending Samuel L. Jackson’s character after he is accused of murdering two white men who had raped his 10-year-old daughter in a small town in Mississippi. It also starred Sandra Bullock, and Kiefer Sutherland and Donald Sutherland, and was directed by Joel Schumacher.

In “A Time for Mercy”, Brigance becomes the court-appointed attorney for a shy 16-year-old boy facing the death penalty for allegedly killing a local deputy. The limited series itself is said to being developed as eight to ten episode show.

Grisham had previously published “Sycamore Row”, a direct sequel to “A Time to Kill”, in 2013.

Caitlyn Jenner Confirms Return for 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' Final Season

    Instagram

The Olympic gold medalist, who starred on the show from the beginning until its 13th season, credits the long-running series for bringing her family ‘very close together.’

    Mar 19, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Caitlyn Jenner is set to help send “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” off. With the show coming to an end with the currently airing season 20, the former Olympic gold medalist has confirmed that she’s going to return to the show for one last time.

The 71-year-old revealed her return to “KUWTK” during an interview with ET’s Nischelle Turner. Admitting that she “enjoyed” her time on the show, she said, “Put it this way, I am in the final season. Over the 10 years I did the show, I really enjoyed doing the show.”

Reflecting on her time on the E! reality series, Caitlyn opened up, “I think I had probably some of the best conversations with my kids on camera.” She went on explaining, “A lot of times, you know, things happen and as a parent, you’re going, ‘Oh, I better talk to the kid about that,’ and you just don’t do it as quickly.”

The transgender right activist then credited the show for bringing her family close together. “You know, you kind of, it’s uncomfortable, but with the show, you have to talk to them about it, like, right now, and so I think it really brought the family much closer,” she confessed, before adding of what she’s learned from her interaction with her family on “KUWTK”, “One thing that I have learned in being involved with this family is let them speak for themselves.”

On the show’s end, Caitlyn said, “It was a great experience, and that’s the only thing, I see the end of the show is, it’s kind of sad.” She, however, remains optimistic about the future of her children, saying, “But all my kids, every one of them, even not just the ones on the show, but all my other children that I have. I couldn’t be more proud. They couldn’t be more successful. They’ve all worked very hard. Great work ethic, and they’re really good people, so that’s the most important thing.”

Caitlyn started joining “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” in 2007 along with Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner. She left the show after 13 seasons and started her own series “I Am Cait”, but it only lasted for two seasons.
