    Disney+ Removes 'Dumbo', 'Peter Pan' and More From Kids Profiles Due to Racist Message

    AceShowbiz – Disney+ has pulled out some animated movie classics from its Kids Profiles due to negative depictions. A new report suggests that kids are now unable to access some titles including “Dumbo”, “Peter Pan”, “The Aristocats” and “Swiss Family Robinson”.
    “Titles with a content advisory notice related to negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people or cultures have been excluded,” Disney+ confirms on its online help center. While kids under 7 are restricted to watch those moviews, regular accounts will still able to stream those titles with a content advisory message being presented ahead of the feature.
    “These stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong now,” the advisories read. “Rather than remove this content, we want to acknowledge its harmful impact, learn from it and spark conversation to create a more inclusive future together.”

    In Disney+’s Stories Matter webpage, the company mentioned about Jim Crow, the leader of the group. He shares the name of laws that enforced racial segregation in the Southern United States. In ‘The Song of the Roustabouts,’ faceless Black workers toil away to offensive lyrics like ‘When we get our pay, we throw our money all away,’ ” the site explains.
    As for “The Aristocats”, Disney+ explained that it was pulled from Kids Profile because “the cat is depicted as a racist caricature of East Asian peoples with exaggerated stereotypical traits such as slanted eyes and buck teeth.” “Peter Pan”, meanwhile, is considered giving negative message because “the film portrays Native people in a stereotypical manner that reflects neither the diversity of Native peoples nor their authentic cultural traditions.” The movie also saw Peter and the Lost Boys doing “a form of mockery and appropriation of Native peoples’ culture and imagery.”
    The site also notes that “Swiss Family Robinson” features “a stereotypical foreign menace.” The pirates, who had h top knot hairstyles, queues, robes and overdone facial make-up and jewelry, also “speak in an indecipherable language, presenting a singular and racist representation of Asian and Middle Eastern peoples.”

    AceShowbiz – Amitabh Bachchan is to receive the Film Archive Award from Christopher Nolan and Martin Scorsese.
    The beloved Indian actor will be presented with the International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF)’s annual award at a virtual ceremony on 19 March (21).
    Scorsese was the first-ever winner of the FIAF Award in 2001 while Nolan received the gong in 2017 thanks to his film archival efforts.

    “FIAF has very been active in India and South Asia, thanks to its close collaboration with Film Heritage Foundation, since 2015,” FIAF president Frederic Maire said in a statement. “By presenting our prestigious FIAF Award to Amitabh Bachchan, we want to show the world how rich and diverse, but also how fragile, this unique film heritage is, and we want to publicly thank Bachchan for his role as a high-profile advocate for the rescue of this heritage, in India and beyond.”
    Scorsese praised Bachchan’s “advocacy for preserving India’s film legacy,” calling it “exceptional” while Nolan added, “As a past recipient of the FIAF Award, I know how imperative it is that representatives of the film industry around the world come together to ensure that we preserve our film heritage… He has played an essential role in putting the cause of film preservation on the map in India and the subcontinent.”
    The Award reveal came after the Indian movie icon underwent surgery. “My gratitude and love for the concern and the wishes…,” he later thanked his fans for their outpouring love and support.

    AceShowbiz – Jared Leto struggled to get relief from the “dark place” he had to go to for “The Little Things”.
    The Oscar-winning actor stars opposite Denzel Washington in the film, which tells the story of Leto’s Albert Sparma, who is being investigated by Denzel’s Joe ‘Deke’ Deacon. But getting into the right mindset to play a killer took its toll on Leto.
    “You’re spending time in a dark place, and the materials, the research can start to creep into your dreams at some point,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “For anybody, that’s, like, binge-watched Making a Murderer, at a certain point you need a break. You need to turn on Tiger King or something.”

    But while there were some difficulties in taking on the role, Leto was determined not to let the opportunity of working with Washington pass him by.
    “I don’t know what it is about him in particular that I keyed into as a young actor, but I always wanted to see what he was going to do next,” he added. “He’s always great. He always surprises you. He’s one of the few actors that has really had that consistency, and he really puts his full body and heart and soul into every performance that he does. So, just the Denzel of it all was enough reward for me.”
    Jared Leto was last seen on the big screen in 2018’s “The Outsider”. He will next be seen reprising his role as Joker in “Zack Snyder’s Justice League”. His other new projects include true-story movie “House of Gucci” and Marvel superhero adaptation “Morbius”.

    AceShowbiz – Filmmaker James Gunn has dismissed rumours suggesting Zac Efron has been cast as Adam Warlock in the next “Guardians of the Galaxy” sequel.
    Gold-skinned cosmic character Warlock was introduced in a post-credits scene in 2017’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”, and is expected to play a major role in the story for the follow-up, which Gunn is expected to begin filming later this year (21).
    A questionable report recently emerged online, indicating he was seeking “a thirty year-old Caucasian man, who is described as both a super hero type and a Zac Efron type,” for the part, but the director has shot down the claims.
    “There is no casting underway for Vol. 3,” he tweeted in response to the article.

    Gunn’s post tickled celebrity fans Seth Rogen and Josh Gad, who went on to joke about missing out on the gig themselves.
    “S**t I was gonna submit myself for the Zac Efron type,” quipped Rogen, who worked with Efron in the “Neighbors” comedy franchise.
    And Frozen’s Gad remarked, “This was not the way I wanted to find out I’m out of the running for Adam Warlock.”
    The Disney/Marvel blockbuster, fronted by Chris Pratt, is currently set for release in 2023.

    AceShowbiz – Disney boss Bob Chapek is adamant officials were not taking political sides when they fired Gina Carano from “The Mandalorian”.
    The actress was axed from her role as Cara Dune in the “Star Wars” spin-off series on Disney+ last month (Feb21) after comparing being conservative in America to the persecution of Jews in Nazi Germany.
    Executives at the Disney-owned Lucasfilm decided to cut ties with Carano for what they considered to be “abhorrent and unacceptable” remarks, and now Chapek has defended the move in a call to investors on Tuesday (09Mar21).
    “I don’t really see Disney as characterising itself as left-leaning or right-leaning, yet instead of standing for values,” Chapek explained in response to the drama.
    “Values that are universal. Values of respect. Values of decency. Values of integrity and values of inclusion.”

    Many people accused Disney of double standard for firing Gina Carano while keeping co-star Pedro Pascal despite his Nazi tweet.
    While Carano slammed the Mouse House and accused the studio of bullying, she had nothing but good words for Pascal.
    “I adore him. I know he’s said and done some hurtful things,” she said. “But we had an agreement after we realized we were a little bit politically different. We had an agreement that, first and foremost, you’re a human being. And you’re my friend first.”
    Pascal himself kept silent on the controversy, but castmate Bill Burr offered public support for the actress.
    “It’s a weird time…,” he said in a foul-mouthed rant. “Unless she did some truly horrible s**t or said overtly racist s**t… I don’t know. I think there is just too many channels (sic). And then you gotta do sensational s**t… I’m on that f**king show. Now, I gotta watch what the f**k I say.”
    “She was an absolute sweetheart. Super nice f**king person,” he added.

    “It’s in the movie – killing someone with a mobile phone. How do you do that? Andy will tell you exactly how to do that. He’ll show you as well – which is awful,” he told Digital Spy.

    “SAS: Red Notice” is due for release on Friday (12Mar21).

    It follows a SAS operator trying to save hostages captured by a small army of well trained criminals who have hijacked the Eurostar deep beneath the English Channel. The group plan to blow up the English Channel declaring economic war on a government with plenty of their own secrets.

    AceShowbiz – Meghan, Duchess of Sussex has filed a formal complaint to ITV over former “Good Morning Britain” presenter Piers Morgan’s inflammatory comments about her suicide revelations.
    A complaint was lodged on behalf of the royal after Monday’s (8Mar21) episode of “Good Morning Britain”, during which Morgan blasted Meghan and Prince Harry over revelations that emerged from their explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey.
    Morgan said he didn’t believe the Duchess’ claims she had felt suicidal and had reached out for support from Buckingham Palace, who denied her help, comments that sparked widespread criticism, including from a mental health charity that works with ITV who broadcast the CBS special in the U.K., and led to more 41,000 complaints to U.K. broadcasting regulator Ofcom.
    On Wednesday ITV News reported Meghan wrote to CEO Carolyn McCall, raising concerns over how Morgan’s words would affect the mental health dialogue in the U.K. and how it may impact someone contemplating suicide.

    Morgan, who later rowed with his colleague, “GMB” weatherman Alex Beresford, about his behaviour towards Meghan, which resulted in him walking off air, later quit his role on the TV show.
    According to reports, he refused to make an on-air apology for his comments about Meghan.
    Following his exit from the show, he remained unrepentant, tweeting, “On Monday, I said I didn’t believe Meghan Markle in her Oprah interview. I’ve had time to reflect on this opinion, and I still don’t. Freedom of speech is a hill I’m happy to die on. Thanks for all the love, and hate. I’m off to spend more time with my opinions.”
    Both ITV and Prince Harry and Meghan’s Archewell foundation declined to comment on the complaint, although neither denied that it was made.
