'The Blacksmith' Shooting Delay Forced Nick Jonas to Bow Out of Leading Role

    Instagram

The ‘Jumanji: The Next Level’ star initially signed up to play weapons expert Wes Loomis, a.k.a. The Blacksmith, in the big screen adaptation project from ‘Taken’ director Pierre Morel.

    Mar 2, 2021
AceShowbiz – Singer/actor Nick Jonas has bowed out of upcoming action thriller “The Blacksmith”.
The “Jumanji: The Next Level” star initially signed up to play weapons expert Wes Loomis, aka The Blacksmith, in the big screen adaptation of the graphic novel of the same name last spring (2020), in the hopes of filming in Toronto, Canada later that year.
However, his busy schedule forced producers at AGC Studios to delay the shoot, and now Jonas has had to step down from the leading role in “Taken” director Pierre Morel’s new project.

“Nick, as you can imagine, has a lot of other commitments, with his acting and his music,” AGC CEO Stuart Ford explains to The Hollywood Reporter.
“Under normal circumstances, he could fly in and out, go to do things over the weekend, and come back to set Monday. But in a COVID environment, that doesn’t work. He’d have to stay in the same place for three months. With a star like Nick Jonas, it became borderline impossible to make the schedule work.”
Ford insists AGC executives and Jonas have “parted ways, amicably”, and they are now looking for a replacement to co-star with Laurence Fishburne as Loomis’ mentor.
” ‘The Blacksmith’ provides a fresh, highly contemporary new take on the espionage genre and it’s exciting to pair an exhilarating young talent like Nick with seasoned heavyweights such as Pierre and Laurence,” Stuart Ford of financiers and producers AGC Studios explained. “We’ll soon be announcing an equally outstanding young female actor to play across from Nick and then we will have all the ingredients for a major new film franchise built around a very modern breed of action hero.”

Matt Damon and Luke Hemsworth Spotted on 'Thor: Love and Thunder' Set for First Time

    Marvel Studios

The roles of Damon and the older Hemsworth brother are likely uncovered as both of them have been pictured joining the production of the Marvel movie in Sydney, Australia.

    Mar 2, 2021
AceShowbiz – The first pictures of Matt Damon and Luke Hemsworth on the set of “Thor: Love and Thunder” have surfaced online, confirming reports that they will be making cameos in the upcoming Marvel movie. Both actors were spotted filming for the upcoming installment of the Thor film series in Sydney, Australia.
The photos obtained by paparazzi are also believed to have potentially given away Damon and Hemsworth’s roles. They previously portrayed Asgardian actors who played Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) in “Thor: Ragnarok” and it appears that they’re reprising the same roles.
In the grainy images, Damon and the old Hemsworth brother were seen wearing the same clothes that were sported by Loki and Thor in “Thor: Ragnarok” scene, during which their father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) died. It seems that they will be acting out the death of the Allfather.
Supporting the speculation about Damon and Hemsworth’s cameos, other set pictures showed the movie’s crew building what looks like an outdoor amphitheater, where Damon and Hemsworth’s characters could perform. Sam Neill, meanwhile, has been rumored to reprise his role as an actor playing Odin.

Damon first hinted at his return for “Thor: Love and Thunder” after he announced in January of this year that he’s taking his family Down Under. “I’m so excited that my family and I will be able to call Australia home for the next few months,” he said in a statement to local press, as quoted by CNET, at the time.
Confirming that he’s in Aussie for a movie project, he added in the statement, “Australian film crews are world-renowned for their professionalism and are a joy to work with so the 14 days of quarantine will be well worth it.”
Other actors, including Natalie Portman, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista and Tessa Thompson, had all been quarantining before they joined the cast and crew on the set. The Hemsworth brothers, meanwhile, have been living in Australia with their families.
“Thor: Ragnarok” is directed by Taiki Waititi and is slated for a May 6, 2022 release in the United States.

Emmanuel Acho to Take Over Chris Harrison's Hosting Duty in 'The Bachelor: After the Final Rose'

    Instagram

‘It’s both an honor and privilege to be hosting ‘After the Final Rose’,’ the best-selling author and the ‘Uncomfortable Conversations With a Black Man’ host says of the gig.

    Mar 2, 2021
AceShowbiz – After Chris Harrison announced that he’d take a hiatus from “The Bachelor” following widespread criticism over his remarks about Rachael Kirkconnell’s past racist behavior, ABC has to find a new host to replace him in “The Bachelor: After the Final Rose”. It has now revealed that Emmanuel Acho will fill in the void left by Chris’ temporary leave.
The best-selling author will sit down with “The Bachelor” lead Matt James and the three finalists in his season, Bri, Michelle and Rachael. The “Uncomfortable Conversations With a Black Man” host is set to discuss the results of the finale and the current events surrounding the franchise.
“It’s both an honor and privilege to be hosting ‘After the Final Rose’,” said Emmanuel in a statement. “This is an incredibly pivotal episode on one of the most storied shows in television history.”

Chris decided to step aside from the franchise after being under fire for defending Rachael over her racism scandal. “I have spent the last few days listening to the pain my words have caused, and I am deeply remorseful. My ignorance did damage to my friends, colleagues and strangers alike. I have no one to blame but myself for what I said and the way I spoke,” Chris said last month.
“To the Black community, to the BIPOC community: I am so sorry. My words were harmful. I am listening, and I truly apologize for my ignorance and any pain it caused you,” the TV host further pleaded. “I want to give my heartfelt thanks to the people from these communities who I’ve had enlightening conversations with over the past few days, and I am so grateful to those who have reached out to help me on my path to anti-racism.”
“The historic season of The Bachelor should not be marred or overshadowed by my mistakes or diminished by my actions,” he continued. “To that end, I have consulted with Warner Bros. and ABC and will be stepping aside for a period of time and will not join for the After the Final Rose special.”

HFPA Acknowledge Black Representation Is Vital at 2021 Golden Globes

Bosses at the media organization behind the annual awards ceremony have found themselves under fire due to the revelation that there were no black journalist among its members.

    Mar 2, 2021
AceShowbiz – Diversity was front and centre at the Golden Globes on Sunday, February 28, as officials from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association promised to ensure black journalists had “a seat at our table”.
Bosses at the media organisation behind the annual awards ceremony have been under fire in recent days after a Los Angeles Times report revealed that while there were a significant number of people of colour among its 87 members, none of them were black.
The news sparked an uproar in the lead up to the prizegiving, and prompted co-hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler to skewer HFPA executives for the lack of black representation in the group during their opening sequence of the televised show.
“The HFPA is made up of about 90 international – no black – journalists,” Fey quipped, as Poehler acknowledged: “A lot of flashy garbage got nominated. But that happens, that’s like their thing. A number of black actors and black-led projects were overlooked…”
“Inclusivity is important, and there are no black members of the HFPA,” Fey went on to state. “I realise you didn’t get the memo, HFPA, because your workplace is the back booth of a French McDonald’s, but you gotta change that. So here’s to changing it.”

Three representatives from the HFPA then took to the stage and vowed to make amends going forward.
Vice president Helen Hoehne, of Germany, began: “While we celebrate the work of artists from around the globe, we recognise we have our own work to do. Just like in film and television, black representation is vital. We must have black journalists in our organisation.”
“We must ensure everyone from all underrepresented communities get a seat at our table – and we are going to make that happen,” continued former HFPA president Meher Tatna, of India, as the organisation’s current leader, Turkey’s Ali Sar, concluded, “That means creating an environment where diverse membership is the norm, not the exception. Thank you, and we’ll look forward to a more inclusive future.”

The issue continued to be raised throughout the broadcast, as celebrities like guest presenter Sterling K. Brown joked, “It’s great to be black at the Golden Globes, I mean back,” while “Schitt’s Creek” co-creator and star Dan Levy expressed his hope for a more inclusive membership in the near future.
    [embedded content]
As he accepted the award for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy, he said, “In the spirit of inclusion, I hope that this time next year, this ceremony reflects the true breadth and diversity of the film and television being made today, because there is so much more to be celebrated.”

'Bachelor' Women Tell-All: Brittany and Anna Reconcile Following Escort Girl Rumors

    ABC

Before getting sent home in Matt James’ season, Anna Redman received backlash online after she started rumors that Brittany Galvin worked as an escort in Chicago.

    Mar 2, 2021
AceShowbiz – “The Bachelor” aired the Women Tell-All special on Monday, March 1. The special episode featured all ladies that have been eliminated by Matt James gathering, including Brittany Galvin and Anna Redman who were beefing over escort girl rumors.
Before getting sent home, Anna received backlash online after she started rumors that Brittany worked as an escort in Chicago. Brittany denied the allegations but it didn’t stop the rumors from further circulating.
“When I first got back, I didn’t even want to be around my family,” she shared in the episode. “It was really hard to even text my friends back the first couple of weeks. It’s embarrassing — when people Google my name now, it’s about me being accused of being an escort.”
She continued, “I didn’t get signed up to be bullied or have my name slandered. This is forever going to have an association to my name, which is kind of unfair. It’s really f***ed that I have to constantly defend my name from now on.”

      See also…

Brittany also revealed that she was disappointed that she hadn’t heard from Anna since the show aired, though Anna did apologize to her before that. “Nothing I can say can justify what I did,” Anna responded. “There’s no reason to ever take down another woman without thinking of the consequences, especially in that moment. It was awful and after watching the aftermath, I am a hundred times more sorry.”
“I know I’m getting a glimmer of it and I can’t even imagine what it’s like to be you. It sucks that I did that to someone else. Everything in the situation I did was wrong and I’m sorry,” she added. Anna admitted that “it all stemmed from my own insecurities. I was insecure about myself and my time with Matt and even being next to these amazing women in the house. There wasn’t a motive. I know that sounds stupid.”
Anna concluded, “I know what I said can’t be unsaid and the damage can’t be undone but I’d love to help repair some of that damage. I want you to know I’m 100 percent sincere when I say I am so, so sorry for that.”
Brittany decided to accept her apology, noting that she didn’t want “people to destroy your life.” She added, “That’s not my intention at all. I do accept your apology, but I want people to take away from this that words can actually affect you. I don’t want people to feel bad for me and I don’t want Anna to get hated on. People make mistakes. And I want to address people in the sex work industry – no one deserves more or less based on the industry they’re in.”

Looking tired and wearing a tie-dye hoodie that vastly contrasted with the rest of his peers’ smart suits and ensembles, Jason began his acceptance speech by saying, “Wow, alright! Can I talk now? That’s nuts. Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press. To me, this is the coolest thing …. That’s nuts. That’s crazy.”
