Fired Oasis drummer Tony McCarroll opens up on shock bust-up with Noel that got him sacked

Former Oasis drummer Tony McCarroll has spoken about the bravado and swearing matches between him and Noel Gallagher that go him kicked out of the iconic 90s band02:10, 30 Jul 2025Tony has been to see the reunion tour (Image: / SplashNews.com)Former Oasis drummer Tony McCarroll has revealed the truth behind his shock sacking from the band, and made a surprise admission about Liam Gallagher.Tony was axed in 1995, less than a year after the band’s chart-smashing debut album Definitely Maybe turned them into the biggest band in Britain. Now, he has opened up about the explosive incident that led to his exit, and says he would even be up for patching things up with Noel Gallagher.Speaking at a fan event at Red Studios in North Shields, The Sun reports that Tony said: “Would I sit down and have a cup of tea, a Rich Tea, with Noel, and go, ‘What the f*** happened, mate?’ I would.”Tony was sacked after a particularly bad bust up with Noel (Image: Getty Images)Recalling the moment that led to him being kicked out, he said: “There was an incident in Paris. I didn’t know my hotel room was next to Noel’s. I had a row with a girl I was with, and the next day at soundcheck he turned round and said, ‘You f****** keep me awake again, you’re getting f****** sacked, mate’.”He added: “Probably the most stupid thing I’ve ever done, but I fronted him and said, ‘You won’t f***ing speak to me like that again.’ A few weeks later – I was out.”Despite it costing him his place in the band, Tony says he doesn’t regret standing his ground. Tony said: “What sort of man would it make me if I didn’t? Everyone was under threat every day – it was all bravado. I never thought I’d actually lose my place.”Though he hasn’t spoken to Noel since, Tony says he’s still in touch with Bonehead and Liam and has a very different view of the Oasis wildman than most.Tony said he is still in touch with Liam and Bonehead(Image: Oasis standalone)Tony said: “Everyone thinks Liam’s a nutcase. But he’s a shockingly nice guy. A lot of the attitude is just bravado or nerves – something in him that struggles with people being in his face.”Reflecting on being left behind as Oasis went global, Tony said: “If the roles were swapped, what do you do? You keep going. They were on the way to superstardom – stadium gigs forever.”Tony, who now teaches drumming, has seen the band’s reunion tour and says it’s “amazing” to see.Article continues belowHe remains proud of his part in Oasis history, drumming on Definitely Maybe and hits like Whatever and Some Might Say.“I wish I had a few more quid,” he added, “but I’ve got to be proud. We were The Beatles of the ’90s. It was mayhem.”For the latest breaking news and stories from across the globe from the Daily Star, sign up for our newsletters. More

Cat Deeley said she found moving back to UK ‘really hard’ before Patrick Kielty split

Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty have announced that they have split after 17 years together, and it’s been claimed that the couple spent much of their relationship living apart22:38, 29 Jul 2025Updated 22:46, 29 Jul 2025Patrick Kielty and Cat Deeley announced their split this week(Image: Getty Images)TV host Cat Deeley confessed that relocating back to the UK with her husband Patrick Kielty and their two youngsters proved “really hard”.The former couple, who announced their split this week, had lived in America for years. Cat, 48, and Patrick, 54, moved from Los Angeles to London in 2020, having spent more than a decade living overseas. The This Morning host subsequently hinted that she would return to America each summer for her presenting duties on So You Think You Can Dance. The ex-couple, who wed in 2012, were reported to have made the choice partly due to worries about gun violence, reports the Mirror. The pair got married in 2012(Image: Getty Images North America)Cat, who assumed hosting duties on This Morning following her UK return, has also mentioned that additional reasons included wanting to be nearer to relatives and friends. In an interview with the Sunday Times last year, Cat remembered their relocation following an episode where Patrick and one of their children were told to seek shelter at a retail centre. The publication reported there were whispers of a gunman in the vicinity, though it transpired to involve a suspicious package.Cat revealed in the chat that she found the ordeal “really scary”.It was additionally noted at the time that she found their eventual return to Britain, with its absence of sunshine, “really hard”.Cat nevertheless told the publication that the Los Angeles she visits nowadays differs from the city she originally knew. She remarked: “It doesn’t feel as safe as it used to be. There’s an edge, which wasn’t there before. The health system is failing miserably.”Since moving back to the UK, Cat now hosts This Morning with Ben Shepherd (Image: Getty Images for the NTA’s)Cat also highlighted the post-pandemic situation, noting that there are “lots of vulnerable people” with “severe mental health issues” who have unfortunately slipped “through the net”.During her appearance on ITV’s Lorraine in 2020, Cat revealed that a frightening incident at a mall was the “catalyst” for their decision to move back to the UK. Nonetheless, she disclosed that the couple had “always” intended to return to be nearer to their relatives for the benefit of their children eventually. She explained: “Our boys they’ve got grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins that they adore, and they adore them right back. For us, it was like, it’s such a special moment in time and you don’t get those times back again. So we had always thought we would bring them back here so they could know everybody in the family and friends.”Recent rumours suggest that Cat and Patrick may have been leading separate lives for some time following their relocation. Speculation abounds that their periods of separation, due to work commitments such as Patrick’s job in Ireland, might have played a role in their split, which was confirmed today. The ex-couple announced their separation through a joint statement released to the PA news agency. Cat and the Late Late Show presenter Patrick clarified that “no other party involved” and affirmed their commitment to co-parenting their children following the end of their marriage.Article continues belowThey revealed in the statement: “We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved. We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected. There will be no further comment.”Cat and Patrick first crossed paths whilst presenting the BBC’s Fame Academy in 2002. The pair are understood to have been mates before their friendship blossomed into romance, tying the knot in 2012 after making their relationship public the year before. For the latest breaking news and stories from across the globe from the Daily Star, sign up for our newsletters. We got married really young. Pretty, quite intimate wedding, nothing crazy, nothing over the top, then we relocated to Australia shortly afterwards.””Ollie was beyond supportive, he gave me the confidence to do OnlyFans and it wasn’t because he wanted to pimp me out, he just wanted me to be happy and have control of my life. Anything I do now is surely never going to be as hard as that… [But] it was a lot.”Her videographer Josh then comments: “She basically just got beat up for a few hours,” as a picture of Bonnie with bright red eyes is shown on screen. However, she insists that her career doesn’t take affect her mental health: “I’m just not emotional. ‘I met MasterChef’s John Torode and it was clear Gregg Wallace’s behaviour was a struggle’

MasterChef star John Torode was sacked from the BBC show along with his co-host Gregg Wallace, who has been the subject of a number of sexual misconduct allegations18:45, 29 Jul 2025John Torode (left) poses with fellow Masterchef presenter Gregg Wallace(Image: PA)John Torode found one aspect of his partnership with Gregg Wallace particularly challenging, according to a journalist who interviewed the MasterChef star.Wallace was dismissed from the long-standing BBC show after 45 allegations made against him were substantiated. Shortly afterwards, his co-host John was informed that his contract would not be renewed following an inquiry that discovered he had used offensive racist language several years ago.Stories about the duo have since surfaced following their dismissals, with one journalist recalling his encounter with Torode. Michael Odell from The Times has interviewed the Australian twice. He penned: “The first time I met Torode was in 2022 and he described dealing with his former MasterChef presenting partner Gregg Wallace and his early morning phone calls. It was clear that being woken up at 6am by Wallace in Duracell Bunny ‘let’s get to work!’ mode was not easy.”John Torode (Image: Pool, Getty Images)Michael also noted a recurring theme in both his interviews. He elaborated: “Both times I came away thinking, ‘Why am I not as nice as John Torode?'”Despite appearing close on the BBC show, the pair have previously disclosed their less-than-amicable relationship off camera. Torode once told the Mirror: “It’s funny, we’ve never been friends. We’ve not been to each other’s houses.”If we go away to somewhere like South Africa,” he continued, “we do things separately … If we do go out for a drink, I’ll invariably be at one end of a big old table and he’ll be at the other.”During their 20-year on-screen partnership, Torode and Wallace have had their fair share of disagreements, which have sometimes escalated into “massive fights” over decisions regarding contestants. These disputes have occasionally continued even after filming had wrapped up.Torode admitted: “We’ve had a couple of standoffs over the years. I’ve just had to walk away from him.”Gregg Wallace (Image: Pool, Getty Images)In contrast, Wallace seemed unaware of the tension, telling ITV’s Lorraine in 2017: “I film with John six or seven months of the year, so we are very close to each other physically, and emotionally we are very close to each other.”A behind-the-scenes source revealed to BBC News: “Clearly they had a good chemistry when the cameras were rolling. But you rarely saw them interact when the cameras were off.”Wallace has since apologised for some of his on-set behaviour, stating that he is “so sorry” to anyone who was upset by his actions. However, he maintains that he is “not a groper, a sex pest or a flasher”.Meanwhile, Torode, 60, has denied allegations of using racist language in the past, claiming he has no recollection of the alleged incident and does not believe it occurred. Despite their uncertain future, Wallace and Torode will still grace our screens a few more times.John Torode and Gregg Wallace are no longer hosts of MasterChef(Image: BBC/Shine TV)After much deliberation, the BBC has decided to broadcast their final season together from August 6, and may also air a series of Celebrity MasterChef and a Christmas special that are reportedly already filmed. However, some editing tweaks might have been made to minimise the screen time of the duo. A spokesperson for the BBC stated: “MasterChef is an amazing competition which is life-changing for the amateur chefs taking part. The focus of it has always been their skill and their journey.Article continues below”This has not been an easy decision in the circumstances and we appreciate not everyone will agree with it.”In showing the series, which was filmed last year, it in no way diminishes our view of the seriousness of the upheld findings against both presenters. We have been very clear on the standards of behaviour that we expect of those who work at the BBC or on shows made for the BBC.” More
