    Oliver White is on his final leg and hoping to get to set foot in Glastonbury tomorrow – after two years living in Spain and working as a content creator for La LigaVince Soodin Assistant Editor (Digital) and SWNSFilipaGaspar (Filipa Gaspar)10:24, 24 Jun 2025Oliver White using peddle power to get to Worthy FarmA barmy festival-goer has spent nearly a month cycling 1,000 miles from Spain to attend his first Glastonbury Festival.Oliver White has tackled mountains and hundreds of kilometres of coastline to arrive at Worthy Farm in time for the start of the world famous event on Wednesday.The 25-year-old, who was living in Madrid, has covered up to 100km each day on his first long-distance bikepacking trip crossing Spain and France. He has documented his trek every day in TikTok and Instagram videos which have amounted thousands of views.He is now on his final leg and hoping to get to set foot in Glastonbury tomorrow (Wednesday). Oliver said: “Knowing in the back of my head that the ultimate prize is getting to experience Glastonbury has been a huge motivator for me.”I have surprised myself with my resilience and how my body has held up. I’m 25-year-old so I’m trying to to make the most of these years but I really was expecting to have some aches and pains and up to this point that hasn’t been an issue.”Oliver spent the past two years living in Spain and working as a content creator for La Liga – the highest level of Spanish football. His journey to Glastonbury is part of a longer adventure to go back home to Sligo on Ireland’s west coast.Article continues belowHaving walked part of the Camino de Santiago last year to reach a festival in Bilbao, Tom decided to have a similar idea when he secured his Glastonbury tickets. He said: “We had a fantastic time and then once I found I had my Glastonbury ticket it was going to be my first Glastonbury I just came up with this idea.Oliver White has tackled mountains and hundreds of kilometres of coastline”I left my job in Madrid to do this trip and after Glastonbury I am going to continue travelling through the UK and back home to Sligo.”Glastonbury is on the way home so I just tried to tie it all together.”He left Madrid on May 28 and spent 10 days in Spain travelling through areas with a “low population density area” and “beautiful nature”.Throughout his trip in Spain he was able to connect with locals due to his fluent Spanish – where he was given free food and drinks.He crossed the border over the Pyrenees on June 8 on his 11th day of the trip.From France he went up the west coast where he had a couple of rests with family friends.In Roscoff, Brittany he got the ferry to Plymouth where he arrived on Monday.He said: “When I was living in Madrid I rode a bike everyday to get to work and get around in the city but I hadn’t done too many long distance trainings because I was so busy working.”The first ten days I used them to build up my fitness and the day I crossed the Pyrenees and I did like 120 kms and then since then my by biggest day was 138 kms and then two days I did 120 kms.”Apart from his everyday cycling Oliver has filmed and uploaded daily videos documenting his journey online – getting tens of thousands of views.He said that documenting his trips has given him memories for the rest of his life.”I’m a filmmaker and filmmaking is my art form so I wanted to challenge myself and just to keep improving my skills.”It has been challenging at times. You can imagine after a 100 km day and I am in a forest somewhere trying to transfer files from my SD card and editing it all.”It is not easy but in the end when I click on the upload button on Instagram or TikTok I am really happy with the final product.”As for the festival itself, Oliver said it has been a “dream” for his whole life to attend the event.He said: “My parents told me about their experiences in Glastonbury when they were younger and I watched all the videos every summer on TV, countless YouTube videos and performances.Article continues below”To know that I’m actually going to be there is really amazing and to get to see some of my favourite artists.”Oliver said he was most looking forward to catching Neil Young, Loyle Carner, Ezra Collective and Kneecap, as well as acts from his childhood such as Scissor Sisters and Kaiser Chiefs.
