‘I dined at Jeremy Clarkson’s pub and left gobsmacked by what I was served’

EXCLUSIVE: Daily Star headed down to Jeremy Clarkson’s Oxfordshire pub The Farmer’s Dog and sampled some of the food on offer for guests and visitors10:00, 23 Aug 2025Updated 11:00, 23 Aug 2025I tried some grub at Jezza’s pub, and was blown away by one thing in particular(Image: (Image: Emma Trimble / SWNS))Jeremy Clarkson’s food menu was like nothing I ever expected.I was recently invited to Hawkstone’s VIP Summer Party at Jeremy’s pub The Farmer’s Dog and the former Top Gear host had a whole menu of delicious food for guests to choose from.We were spoiled for choice with options like lamb shawarma kebabs and dry aged beef burgers, but as a pescatarian I opted for a Big Veggie Burger loaded with roasted beetroot, goat’s cheese, tomato chutney and marinated courgette, along with a side of plain fries and another portion covered with grated cheese. Now, I’m quite the veggie burger connoisseur myself since ditching meat over a decade ago and I have to say, I haven’t stopped dreaming of this one since I finished my last bite. The burger burst out of the bun from every angle and was packed full of flavour, particularly the tomato chutney that added a welcome tang against the creamy goat’s cheese.I can’t stop thinking about this burger…The marinated courgette was an unexpected and unique choice, which paired nicely alongside the beetroot. The Big Veggie Burger was absolutely delicious and I’m tempted to try and recreate it myself, although I know my efforts won’t even come close to what I tasted that day.The fries also had a perfect crunch, topped with generous layers of cheese scattered throughout the tray. Still hungry and curious about what else Clarkson had been cooking up in the kitchen, I ordered a veggie pizza topped with greens and red onion. There were plenty of options for both vegetarians and meat eatersI personally prefer a thin pizza jam-packed with toppings, so this one hit the spot and then some. The crispy crust had a floppy base smothered with cheese and tomato spread to every edge, just how I like it.Overall, I was seriously impressed with everything I ate at Clarkson’s VIP Summer Party – consider this my personal plea to the man himself to permanently add all four items to the menu. The pizza went down a treat and was polished off in secondsJezza opened The Farmer’s Dog on this day last year. He said he wants to support local farmers and producers and that it’s costing him a lot of money to do so.He even admitted it’s possible that he’s losing money by charging people less than he should do for the British food in order to make a profit. “Now, a business-minded person would look at these costs and realise that with British-only rules in place, a hotdog was going to be priced at about £45,” he wrote on social media.”But I’m not a business-minded person. So I just filled my heart with hope, asked an AI program to work out what the average price of lunch in a Cotswolds pub is and just charged that. It’s possible that for every customer who comes through the door I’d lose about £10.”Article continues belowJoin the Daily Star’s WhatsApp for the sexiest headlines, showbiz gossip and lots moreThe Daily Star is now on WhatsApp and we want you to join us!Through the app, we’ll send you the sassiest showbiz stories, some naught headline and a seismic smattering of aliens…along with the latest breaking news of course. To join our community, all you have to do to join isclick on this link, select ‘Join Chat’ and you’re in!No one will be able to see who has sign up and no one can send messages except for the Daily Star team. John Lennon once spotted a ‘UFO’ while naked – here is what The Beatles legend saw

The Beatles and music legend John Lennon was apparently starkers when he had an unusual encounter as his nude smoke break on his balcony was interrupted on a hot summer day09:00, 23 Aug 2025John Lennon wrote songs that are out of this world but The Beatles icon believed he once caught glimpse of a ‘UFO’ while completely naked. The musician was staying with his girlfriend of the time, May Pang, when he decided to go out for a smoke on a hot summer day back in August 23 in 1974. John was living in a New York City apartment, close to the East River at the time.John went out on his balcony naked in an attempt to cool off and was left stunned by what he saw. The story of the UFO sighting told by May to The Beatles Story in Liverpool.According to May, John had gone out to see “odd lights flashing” from a “silent circular object, dark in colour and adorned with white pulsating lights.”John Lennon claimed to have seen a ‘UFO’ in New York (Image: Getty Images)May reportedly shouted “It’s a UFO” as the mysterious object was alledgldy right above them. But it was not just John and May he saw the unidentified flying object as it went slowly through the city and on the river, before going towards Brooklyn. The couple then reportedly watched it shoot up into the sky.John reportedly joked and insisted he “wasn’t crazy” when telling the tale, According to The Beatles Story, John and May told police and the newspapers about the UFO and both allegedly confirmed that there were similar reports made. The potential UFO sighting came just after John had finished work on the album ‘Walls and Bridges’.The Beatles back in Liverpool in 1964(Image: AP)The album would later see a note that read: “On 23rd Aug. 1974 at 9 o’clock I saw a U.F.O”, placed on the inner sleeve. John also made refence to the UFO incident in his song John’s song ‘Nobody Told Me’, which was later posthumously released in 1984.The lyric was: “There’s UFOs over New York and I ain’t too surprised.”Several years later, psychic Uri Geller told Sky News that he had spoken with John about his encounter and claims the star even gave him a mysterious object. He also confessed to now owning a sketch The Beatles star made of the ‘UFO’.May Pang was witness to John’s UFO claims(Image: Getty Images)Article continues belowUri said his first questions for John were in disbelief as he asked “What did you smoke?”. But John was certain of what he saw.Speaking to Sky News, Uri said: “So I met him at the hotel, and he was white and shaking. And I said, ‘John, what happened?’ And he put his left hand into his pocket, and he pulls out this item here [pointing at the egg]. And I said, ‘What is this?’ And he handed it to me and it’s really heavy.”He continued: It’s not a rock. Nobody knows what it’s made out of. I get thousands of e-mails from around the world asking me one question. ‘Uri. Why don’t you give this to a scientist, and they will finally tell you what it’s made out of?’ And I say, ‘No way’. You know why? Because I don’t want to be disappointed that this is made in China. I want to believe John Lennon’s words.” More

Heartbreaking reason Elvis Presley never performed in UK despite fans begging

Elvis Presley is arguably one of the biggest names in showbiz and had a decades-long career, but there was one place in particular that he never performed09:00, 23 Aug 2025Elvis Presley never performed in the UK.The legendary rock ‘n’ roll icon, who ruled the charts from the 1950s until his death in 1977 with hits like Jailhouse Rock, Hound Dog and Always on My Mind, never performed a single concert in the UK despite having a massive fan base. The charismatic singer achieved global success selling an estimated 500 million records worldwide and his fame also extended to the silver screen, starring in 31 feature films and two concert documentary films.Despite becoming one of Hollywood’s highest-paid actors, Elvis was sadly unable to fulfil his desire to visit and tour Europe. Reports suggest that he was barred from touring the UK due to his manager, Colonel Tom Parker.Born in the Netherlands, Parker arrived in the US illegally and feared that if he left the country, even for Elvis’ worldwide tour, he would not be allowed back into the US.Elvis never got the opportunity to perform in the UK(Image: Michael Ochs Archives)Despite Elvis’ eagerness to tour Europe, Colonel Parker, born Andreas Cornelis van Kuijk, allegedly persuaded the Love Me Tender star that travelling abroad posed a security risk and encouraged him to focus on Las Vegas instead, reports the Express.Having started his career in carnivals, Parker transitioned into music promotion in 1938 and collaborated with singers like Gene Austin, Eddy Arnold, Hank Snow and Tommy Sand before crossing paths with Elvis.Presley served as a soldier and was honourably discharged(Image: NBCUniversal via Getty Images)At the height of his fame Elvis was drafted into the United States Army and served as a regular soldier, which reportedly marked his only visit to Europe. He was stationed in Germany for overseas duty and rather than leveraging his celebrity status to evade service, he fulfilled his duties as an active soldier. The rocker was forced to focus on performing in Las Vegas(Image: PA)During his military stint, Elvis even climbed the ranks and was promoted to Sergeant before receiving an honourable discharge on 5 March 1969. Besides residing in Germany, there are accounts suggesting that the King made a single trip to the UK while stopping at Scotland’s Prestwick airport en route back to Germany. There are also unverified tales that British legend Tommy Steele entertained Elvis during a visit to London in 1958 and showed him landmarks, including the Houses of Parliament.Join the Daily Star’s WhatsApp for the sexiest headlines, showbiz gossip and lots moreThe Daily Star is now on WhatsApp and we want you to join us!Through the app, we’ll send you the sassiest showbiz stories, some naught headline and a seismic smattering of aliens…along with the latest breaking news of course. To join our community, all you have to do to join isclick on this link, select ‘Join Chat’ and you’re in!No one will be able to see who has sign up and no one can send messages except for the Daily Star team. Netflix star collapses and dies while filming new series of hit show

Diego Borella was aged just 47 when he collapsed during the filming of the Netflix show’s fifth series – with producers halting recording out of respect for the director08:04, 23 Aug 2025Updated 08:25, 23 Aug 2025One of the brains behind Emily In Paris has died(Image: NurPhoto via Getty Images)One of the key figures behind hit Netflix show Emily in Paris has suddenly died whilst filming the next series.Filming had been taking place in the luxurious Italian city of Venice as part of a ten-day shoot between August 15 and 25 for the Netflix hit. All of the stars of the show were in the city when the dramatic death occurred.According to the Sun, all but one scene had been filmed before the show’s production could be wrapped up. However, the show’s assistant director Diego Borella, 47, was soon struck down and collapsed.Borella, a well-respected director, soon took a turn for the worse, prompting a response from the emergency services. Medical professionals were called to the scene at the Hotel Danieli at around 7pm on Thursday (August 21), but despite their best efforts, he was pronounced dead a short time later.Diego Borella had been gearing up to shoot the final scene of the show when he suddenly diedDiego was revered as a professional director from Venice itself, but boasted a huge portfolio, working in other cities such as Rome, London and New York. Italian newspaper La Repubblica added that he was also a much-loved author, mostly channelling his work into children’s stories and fairytales. In the wake of Diego’s death, filming for the fifth season of the show has been halted. The show is expected to be released on the streaming service on December 18, just days before Christmas.Fans have been eagerly awaiting to see what happens to Emily Cooper – played by Lily Collins – after she fell for Italian hunk Marcello, played by 33-year-old actor Eugenio Franceschini. Back in May, there were signs Paris could be swapped for Rome, as Netflix crews were seen around the city.Paris could be swapped for Rome as Emily was spotted on the canals of VeniceOn top of this, Lily was also seen to be riding an iconic Italian scooter and shooting scenes around the streets of Rome at the time. This comes as her character Emily prepares for a new chapter in the Italian capital, where she is set to work at the Agence Grateau. But despite the huge expansion of the plot, the show has been hit with setbacks in recent months. Back in April, one of the show’s stars – Camille Razat – announced she would not be coming back to the storyline.Filming has been halted for the time being ahead of the scheduled release of the series in DecemberIn a huge moment on her social media, Camille said she would be bidding Emily in Paris adieu, sharing a slew of photos from her time on the set of the show. Having played one of Emily’s best friends in the show, fans will be left guessing what will happen as the new series is now just months away. This is a breaking showbiz story and is being constantly updated. ‘I went to All Points East festival and one major thing caught me off guard’

EXCLUSIVE: Daily Star headed down to All Points East festival in Victoria Park for a day of fun in the sun to see what all the hype is about and noticed something very unexpected…22:07, 22 Aug 2025There was one thing we noticed about the festival that we really didn’t expect…(Image: WireImage)All Points East festivalgoers should be aware of this one thing before enjoying their weekend at Victoria Park.On 16 August, Daily Star took a trip down to the iconic London location to catch APE’s stacked lineup, as Chase and Status headlined while huge names like Sammy Virji, Nia Archives, Dimension, Shy FX, 4AM Kru, Serum and Inja performed throughout the day.Chase and Status put on an incredible show as always, smashing out their chart-topping hits mixed with classic tunes only dedicated fans will recognise. We had high expectations for Oppidan and she blew them out of the water, the perfect set to get the crowd hyped for Sammy Virji who played as the sun set over the capital city.Victoria Park is a huge venue decked out with food stands galore so hungry ravers don’t have far to walk from the dance floor. If you’re feeling thirsty, bars are dotted about the place with beers and ciders starting from £6.50, wines and fizz starting from £6.90 with non-alcoholic options also available – we decided to skip the hard seltzers which were priced at an eye-watering £8.25 each, but luckily the water refill stations are completely free.Chase and Status headlined All Points East festival on 16 August(Image: WireImage)Bar staff are very friendly and more than happy to answer any questions you may have and if you’re lucky, you might get some dance moves thrown in while you wait. Shout out to the super lovely bartenders that made our day and sent us off with a smile. We also spotted groups of people chilling on the countless benches dotted about, handy for those who needed a well-deserved break after dancing in the heat all day.We danced the day away as the sun went down over London townHowever, one thing caught us majorly off guard – Victoria Park can get extremely, extremely dusty. We left the place with shoes a different colour than when we entered so be aware and if you’re planning a light-coloured outfit for the event, you may want to reconsider!Even festivalgoers online have been commenting on the amount of dust, so if you’re heading down to All Points East this weekend to catch Raye, FKA Twigs, JADE, The Maccabees, Bombay Bicycle Club and CMAT, make sure you skip your favourite shoes and opt for those comfy trainers you won’t mind getting a little dirty (although easily fixed with a baby wipe or two when you get home).Tickets for Saturday 23 August have sold out, but tickets for Sunday 24 August are still available – click here to bag yours.Article continues belowJoin the Daily Star’s WhatsApp for the sexiest headlines, showbiz gossip and lots moreThe Daily Star is now on WhatsApp and we want you to join us!Through the app, we’ll send you the sassiest showbiz stories, some naught headline and a seismic smattering of aliens…along with the latest breaking news of course. To join our community, all you have to do to join isclick on this link, select ‘Join Chat’ and you’re in!No one will be able to see who has sign up and no one can send messages except for the Daily Star team. Oasis spark huge surge in 90s nostalgia as Britpop-themed activities dominate summer

This summer has been a bit like being back in 1995 as Britpop bands dominate the culture through clothing, festivals and the general spirit among young people20:11, 22 Aug 2025Britpop is back(Image: Redferns via Getty Images)Youngsters can’t get enough of Britpop amid a huge nostalgia craze for the 1990s.Oasis, Blur and Pulp have enjoyed mega success with reunion tours while themed walking tours, clothing, festivals and tribute acts are popping up across the country. Modern artists including drum’n’bass star Nia Archives, music producer AG Cook and singer-songwriter Rachel Chinouriri are being inspired by the iconic era’s symbols including Union Jack flags. And superstar Dua Lipa revealed the 90’s “honesty and attitude” had influenced her album Radical Optimism. Blur bassist Alex James, 56, said: “I guess now it just sort of means good times.“Maybe when outlooks were more positive, and there was less doom and gloom and scrutiny. Maybe it’s like ‘the swinging 60s’, only not quite as naff.Noel and Liam have sparked a wave of 90s nostalgia(Image: Lewis Evans/Big Brother Recordings)”You hear the phrase ‘swinging 60s’ and you’re like ‘yay!’, aren’t you?” Alex revealed he has trademarked the word “Britpop” to flog food and drink.”The word ‘Britpop’ used to totally give me the ick, as I think it maybe did for a lot of bands in that era. You know, ‘Britpop rocker Alex James’ – oh, God. I had to take control.”So I thought, ‘that actually sounds like a really nice drink’.” Meanwhile, a play called The Battle on the feud between Oasis and Blur will star Matthew Horne and is set to open in February.Blur’s Alex James has trademarked the word “Britpop”(Image: Getty Images)Theatre producer Simon Friend, who is behind the show, said: “I think there’s a 30 year cycle of nostalgia: ten years ago, the 90s were still in the rear view mirror.”Now, if you look at video footage or photos in the 90s, it does feel like a historical period compared to where we’re living now. It looks more fun. There is a certain anarchy about that time that, from a distance, people have a fondness for”.Elsewhere, clothing designers Maude and Fox are selling Britpop clobber which are “classic British countryside meets 90s indie cool … countryside heritage with that Camden edge”.Noel Gallagher recently admitted he and Oasis were “blown away” by the incredible response from fans at their reunion gigs. He also spoke fondly of his brother Liam, telling TalkSport: “Liam’s smashing it. I’m proud of him.”He added: “I couldn’t do the stadium thing like he does it, it’s not in my nature. But I’ve got to say, I kind of look and I think ‘good for you, mate’. He’s been amazing.”Have you joined Threads?
