Roy Jay was celebrated for his regular appearances on BBC, featuring on telly shows such as The Bob Monkhouse Show, The Little and Large Show and The Main Attraction during the height of his career.However, the British-Norwegian entertainer faced a heartbreaking end to his life. His troubles began after he was charged with indecent exposure in 1984, when he dropped his trousers during a live performance before a family audience at the Park Club in Jersey.He was slapped with a £200 fine – but more devastatingly, his reputation took a severe blow. Roy found himself blacklisted from numerous venues across the country even before the indecent exposure conviction.He appeared on Bob Monkhouse’s (pictured) show in the 80s(Image: Getty)It turned out to be the final straw for his television career, reports the Mirror.While he managed to keep his stand-up work going in his last years, his TV gigs disappeared. Ultimately, the performer passed away in Alicante, Spain, in December 2007 at the age of 59, completely broke.His body was left unclaimed for two weeks.His death was reportedly due to alcohol misuse. His funeral, held at Villajoyosa Crematorium, was funded by a local Spanish businessman who was also a close friend of Roy’s.Roy is still warmly remembered for his telly appearances and his later performances at a Benidorm club. One fan wrote after his passing: “Terrible news about Roy. I never did see him but will remember with fondness his TV work back in the day. RIP Mr Slither.”Another supporter looked back fondly: “I did see him in Benidorm in the late 1980s at the Talk of the Coast, which is now the Ambassador Playa. I remember the place was packed and everyone was having a great laugh.”A third person echoed: “A very talented but tormented guy who is all but forgotten today.”Roy’s early years were quite remarkable, though accounts of his upbringing vary. According to one account, he was born Roy Jørgensen in Oslo, Norway, to a Norwegian dad and a Scottish/Irish mum.When he was just four years old, his family moved to South Wales. At eight, he spent 12 months in Cork, Ireland, where he perfected his Irish language skills and violin playing, before heading back to Wales.The family subsequently moved to Atherton in Greater Manchester, England, where he attended Hesketh Fletcher High School. At 15, he enlisted with the Royal Norwegian Navy, though he later returned to civilian life to perform vocals in a group playing Northern clubs and dance halls.Article continues belowHe then took up the role of Assistant Entertainments Manager at Pontins holiday camp in Southport, where he launched his stand-up comedy career. Tom now believes that the legendary rocker agreed to the show because he sensed his time was running out.Speaking on Chicago’s Q101 radio station, Tom said: “Ozzy Osbourne had lived on the edge for such a long time, the fact he lived as long as he did was a miracle.”The fact he lived to play and feel that love one more time, to do Paranoid, to do Crazy Train. They got to play and feel the love not just from the bands, the people in the stadium but from all over the world.”The Back to the Beginning concert was held on July 5, and sadly, Ozzy passed away a fortnight later on July 22 at the age of 76.The gig managed to raise nearly $200 million for charitable causes, with the proceeds being divided between Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Acom Children’s Hospice. Lil Nas X was reportedly handcuffed by police after they found the rapper walking the streets of LA in just his underwear and cowboy boots in what they said may have been a drug overdose08:38, 22 Aug 2025(Image: Jordan Strauss/Invision/AP)Rapper Lil Nas X has been arrested and hospitalised after a possible overdose. It comes months after he was hospitalised with facial paralysis. In the latest incident, the 26-year-old was filmed walking the streets of Los Angeles in just his pants and cowboy boots in the early hours of Thursday (August 21).In the worrying video, the musician tells the person filming: “Don’t be late for the party,” while singing and strutting down the road. Officers attended the scene, in the Studio City area of LA, after several reports of a naked man walking in the road. When they turned up they found him as described, and he charged at the police.He was subdued and put in handcuffs, before being taken to a hospital with officers telling paramedics they thought he was having a possible overdose.Lil Nas X allegedly tried to punch police officers(Image: Getty Images for GLAAD)Los Angeles Police Department’s Officer Cervantes told Daily Mail: “This morning, around 5.50am, officers responded to the 11000 block of Ventura Bl for a nude man walking in the street. Upon arrival, the suspect charged at officers and was taken into custody.”He was transported to a local hospital for a possible overdose and placed under arrest for battery on a Police Officer.”According to TMZ, the Old Town Road rapper has since been released from hospital but is being held without bail at an LA jail.The Hip Hop star allegedly attempted to punch LAPD officers, they told NBC4, which pushed them to use force and get him on the ground.None of the officers were injured.In the video, Lil Nas X tells the person filming: “Hey, don’t be late to the party tonight. You know where it’s at.”He continues: “Go ahead babe,” before adding: “Didn’t I tell you to put the phone down?
