George Clooney Trades 'The Boys in the Boat' With 'The Tender Bar' Due to COVID-19

    WENN/Nicky Nelson

Though insisting that the new movie about the U.S. rowing team at the 1936 Berlin Olympics is ‘ready to go,’ the ‘Michael Clayton’ star admits that filming has to wait until coronavirus restrictions are lifted.

    Dec 7, 2020
AceShowbiz – George Clooney’s plans to make a new movie about the U.S. rowing team that upset the world at the 1936 Berlin Olympics have been shelved because he can’t put 5,000 extras in a stadium.
The “Michael Clayton” star is excited to get started on “The Boys in the Boat” and tells Deadline the screenplay is “ready to go,” but he has to wait until COVID restrictions are lifted before he can get started.
“That was a bestselling book about these kids from Seattle winning the rowing competition and beating Hitler in Germany in 1936,” he tells the outlet. “It’s a truly great, big sort of epic film.”

“We’re ready to go but the truth of the matter is we’re waiting until we can put 5,000 (people) in stands because that can’t all be CGI (computer-generated imagery). You can’t do everything with CGI. It can’t just all be fake.”
So Clooney has shifted gears and is now ready to work on directing “The Tender Bar” – the film adaptation of J. R. Moehringer’s memoir.
“It is a really wonderful script based on a terrific book,” George explains. “I’m supposed to do that in March… We have a location scout and they’re looking at locations.”
Meanwhile, Clooney and his business partner Grant Heslov are also adapting John Grisham’s “Calico Joe” for Bob Dylan. “Bob Dylan got the rights from Grisham. He called us up and said, ‘You guys want to adapt it?’ I was like, ‘Yeah,’ ” George laughs. “It’s a great sort of baseball story… and we get to work with Bob Dylan of all people.”

'Wonder Woman 1984' CCXP Teaser: 'The World Is Not Ready'

    [embedded content]

Warner Bros. has released a new sneak peek for the ‘Wonder Woman’ sequel starring Gal Gadot ahead of the movie’s Christmas (December 25) release in theaters and HBO Max.

    Dec 7, 2020
AceShowbiz – While fans have long waited for “Wonder Woman 1984”, the world may not be ready for the superheroine and her super powers. A new teaser released for the movie during Brazil’s CCXP on Sunday, December 6 contains this warning.
It features a voiceover saying, “Diana, one day, you will become all that you dream of and more. Everything will be different. This world is not yet ready for all that you will do. You will become a legend.”
The footage, meanwhile, switches from scenes showing Diana Prince’s (Gal Gadot) romantic and tender moments with Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) and her using her powers in heroic actions. The video ends with Diana and Steve staring lovingly at each other in what looks like a plane.
“Wonder Woman 1984” is set in 1984, during the Cold War. According to the official synopsis, Diana comes into conflict with two formidable foes-media businessman Maxwell Lord and friend-turned-enemy Barbara Ann Minerva while reuniting with her love interest Steve Trevor.
Kristen Wiig stars as Barbara Ann Minerva a.k.a. Cheetah, while Pedro Pascal is cast as Maxwell Lord. Robin Wright (previously Robin Wright Penn) returns as Antiope, general of the Amazon army and Diana’s aunt, with Connie Nielsen returning as Hippolyta, the queen of Themyscira and Diana’s mother.

The movie is directed by Patty Jenkins and is set for a December 25 release in theaters and on HBO Max in the U.S. only.
Meanwhile, first impressions of the film are already in and they mostly rave about the “Wonder Woman” sequel. “I’ve seen #WonderWoman1984!” Brandon Davis wrote on Twitter, “@PattyJenks literally made an 80s movie in every way, making it so unique for today. It feels both bigger than the first WW while simultaneously more contained. Lots of Diana Prince and some epic Wonder Woman moments as @GalGadot literally soars!”
Cinema Blend’s Eric Eisenberg gushed, “Huge news: Wonder Woman 1984 is fantastic! The story is excellent & has a great, timely message; it packs in a ton of surprises; and amazing work is done with both Cheetah & Max Lord (Wiig & Pascal are both stellar). Get hyped, because it’s the real deal.”
Amy Ratcliffe, managing editor at Nerdist, said that “Wonder Woman 1984” is “just what I needed. What we all need. It’s uplifting, hopeful, and so utterly Wonder Woman. Just a beautiful film with themes that hit you right in the heart.” She added, “WW84 doesn’t look or feel like any other modern superhero movie. I can’t wait for us all to talk about it!”
Fandago’s managing editor Erik Davis also chimed in, “I’m so happy to report that #WW84 is an absolute blast from start to finish. An exceptional compliment to the first film, it’s stuffed w/ heart, hope, love, action, romance & humor. @PattyJenks, @GalGadot & team delivered one of DC’s best sequels. I was in tears when it ended.”

Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell Dream of Making Film With Whole Family

    WENN/Apega

The ‘Overboard’ actress, who reunited onscreen with her longtime partner in ‘The Christmas Chronicles 2′, seeks to collaborate with Kate Hudson, Oliver Hudson and Wyatt Russell.

    Dec 7, 2020
AceShowbiz – Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell would love to make a movie featuring their whole family.
The couple has reunited onscreen, for the first time since 1987’s “Overboard”, in festive film “The Christmas Chronicles 2”, and the pair would love the chance to collaborate again and incorporate the actress’ kids, Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson, and their son Wyatt Russell.
“I’d love to do something with my kids and then there’s the grandchildren too,” the actress tells HELLO! “They are all so talented, so there’s the possibility of one day making a movie with the whole family. We’ll see.”

The star enjoyed making “The Christmas Chronicles 2”, in which she plays Mrs. Claus – the wife of Russell’s Santa, because she knows her six grandchildren will get to see it.
“I love the thought that they might one day grow up to like other things Kurt and I have done, but right now it’s fun to have them watch this and go to school knowing their friends have seen it too.”
And the veteran actress admits the role was “a gift” during the coronavirus pandemic, adding, “It felt right to play a role like Mrs. Claus at this time of my life, as a grandmother. It’s a gift to personify such a kind-hearted, positive and magical person, especially right now.”
Hawn has found it tough being separated from her grandchildren over the last few months. “They are like, ‘GoGo, I wish I could just hug you’. And that is so hard,” she explains.

Amanda Seyfried Praises 'Mank' Director for Creating Authentic '30s Era Set

    Instagram

Aside from claiming that David Fincher ‘doesn’t make any mistakes,’ the ‘Mamma Mia!’ star shares how she found a way to tackle her role as finding a way to tackle her role in the biopic.

    Dec 5, 2020
AceShowbiz – Amanda Seyfried was hesitant to step into the shoes of early 20th century actress Marion Davies for new biopic “Mank”, because she didn’t know how to approach the bygone era.
The David Fincher movie is based on the life of Hollywood screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz and chronicles the tumultuous development of Orson Welles’ iconic 1941 film “Citizen Kane”, with Gary Oldman starring as the titular character.
Seyfried portrays Davis, alongside Charles Dance as her lover, media magnate William Randolph Hearst, but the “Mamma Mia!” star admits finding a way to tackle her role proved to be a little tricky at first – until she stepped onto the 1930s era set.
“Fincher doesn’t make any mistakes, really. He creates a world that feels so authentic, and when you think about 1930s Hollywood, it just feels so far away, and I always saw myself as a very modern actress,” Seyfried shared on U.S. breakfast show “Today”.
“I was like, ‘How am I gonna jump into this?’ But it was really kind of easy in some ways because I felt like the costumes, the makeup, the hair, the set pieces, it was all there.”

“It was a dream that I didn’t know I had. How many opportunities do you get to play a 1930s era movie star… like this?”

As part of her portrayal of Davis, the Pennsylvania-born Seyfried had to master a Brooklyn, New York accent.
“My trick is do everything very subtly,” she explained. “Mild is really the only thing I think I can get away with (with) something that’s not natural; it’s not a natural accent for me.”
“My biggest fear is to distract people and (for) it (to) sound terrible, so I just did a mild Brooklyn accent!”
Her efforts appear to be paying off as Seyfried’s performance in the Netflix movie has already earned her high praise from critics, and the actress is considered to be one of the early favourites to land an Oscar nomination for the 2021 Academy Awards.

Zendaya Gets Coy on 'Spider-Man 3' Crossover Rumors as Sony Deletes Video Fueling the Speculation

    Sony Pictures

The MJ depicter expertly dodges the question about Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s rumored appearance in the upcoming movie during a ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ interview.

    Dec 5, 2020
AceShowbiz – Zendaya Coleman has mastered the skills of avoiding spoilers as she’s currently working on another highly-secretive project from Marvel. The actress was grilled about the rumored “Spider-Man 3” crossover with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield during her recent appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, but she managed to keep her lips tightly sealed.
“Everything is very secretive,” the 24-year-old told host Jimmy Kimmel about the “Spider-Man: Far From Home” sequel which she’s now filming in Atlanta. When asked if the movie is called “Spider-Man 3” because there are three Spider-Men in it including Tom Holland’s version, she replied, “I can neither confirm nor deny.”
Jimmy didn’t give up easily though. After the “Euphoria” star said that they had a “bubble Thanksgiving” dinner with the cast and crew of the movie, the comedian inquired if she celebrated the Turkey Day “with Spider-Men.” She responded, “Yeah – I can’t say that,” before admitting that the host almost got her, “You almost… that was good. That was good.”
“Because I was wondering what you guys had. Because I know Tobey Maguire is a vegan,” Jimmy explained his curiosity, to which the MJ depicter claimed, “I have no idea… I really don’t.”

Zendaya’s interview about “Spider-Man 3” arrives after Sony Channel Latin America appeared to confirm the speculation with a video uploaded on its official YouTube channel. “Who is your favorite Spider-Man?” the video asked fans, before adding, “You don’t have to choose – in the Marvel Multiverse, anything can happen.”
The video, labeled “news,” went on to say that “in ‘Spider-Man 3’ you will quite possibly see everyone – yes – the three Peter Parker saving the world together.”
However, after it caught the attention of movie geeks, the Spanish language video titled “The 3 Spider-Man Together” has since been deleted.
