ACM Awards 2020 Moving to Nashville After Delay Caused by Coronavirus Pandemic

The 55th annual prizegiving, which was originally set to take place in Las Vegas, has been rescheduled to September 16 at the Grand Ole Opry House and Ryman Auditorium in Music City.
    Apr 28, 2020
AceShowbiz – The postponed Academy of Country Music Awards are moving to Nashville, Tennessee.
The 55th annual prizegiving was set to air in Las Vegas until the coronavirus shut down several events, gigs and festivals last month (March), and now the rescheduled awards show will take place at the Grand Ole Opry House and Ryman Auditorium in Music City.
The ACM Awards will now take place on 16 September.
“While we were disappointed to postpone our April show in Las Vegas, we couldn’t be more thrilled to host the rescheduled 55th ACM Awards in the home of Country Music for the first time in the Academy’s history,” said Damon Whiteside, CEO of the Academy of Country Music.
“Now, more than ever, is the time to bring our community together to honour the best in our genre, and there is no more special place to do that than three of the most revered venues in Country Music – The Grand Ole Opry House, The Ryman Auditorium and The Bluebird Cafe. A huge thank you to these historic venues and to the state of Tennessee and city of Nashville for all of the support in making this a reality!”

Keith Urban, the reigning ACM Awards Entertainer of the Year, will host the show.

ACM Awards 2020 Gets New September Date for Postponed Show

Keith Urban remains booked as host for the prizegiving that was originally set to take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on April 5, while its venue would be revealed soon.
    Mar 24, 2020
AceShowbiz – The Academy of Country Music Awards (ACM) has been rescheduled for September after being delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Singer Keith Urban had been due to host the prizegiving at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on 5 April but, after U.S. President Donald Trump declared the Covid-19 outbreak a national emergency earlier this month, organisers decided to pull the plug on the event.
It has since been confirmed that the show will now take place on 16 September with representatives from ACM and Dick Clark Productions adding that the venue would be revealed soon, along with an initial list of performers, reported Variety.
The announcement indicates that the show may not take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, as it has for several years. However, 15-time ACM winner and recipient of the 2018 Entertainer of the Year honour Urban remains booked as host.

Maren Morris and Thomas Rhett are among the top nominees for the ACMs, with five nods each.

ACM Awards 2020 Pushed Back to September Due to Coronavirus Pandemic

Despite their initial insistence the show would go on as planned, organizers are pulling the plug on the April ceremony after President Donald Trump declared the outbreak a national emergency.
    Mar 16, 2020
AceShowbiz – The 2020 Academy of Country Music Awards have become the latest casualty of the global coronavirus crisis.
Singer Keith Urban had been due to host the prizegiving at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on 5 April, and just days ago, ACM officials insisted the show would go on, despite the postponement of various big-name tours and festivals like Coachella and Stagecoach in California.
They insisted they were “closely monitoring the situation” for developments, and now, after U.S. President Donald Trump declared the COVID-19 outbreak a national emergency on Friday (March 13), organisers have decided to pull the plug on the event and push it back to September, although a specific date has yet to be decided.
“The ACM Awards is a tentpole event for our Country Music industry, and the Academy of Country Music and dick clark productions went to great lengths to find a safe solution for the show to go on so that we can honor our artist community,” Damon Whiteside, CEO of the Academy of Country Music, shared in a statement.
“This decision involved many partners, stakeholders and the industry who we have been in constant conversations with over the past several days as the situation has developed. We look forward to identifying a future date that we can celebrate with our Country community safely.”

Maren Morris and Thomas Rhett were among the top nominees for the ACMs, with five nods each, while the bash was set to feature performances from Urban, Miranda Lambert, Lindsay Ell, Elle King and Ashley McBryde, among others.
It’s the latest prizegiving to be affected by the coronavirus chaos – the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards and Canada’s Juno Awards were recently scrapped, while the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony was put on hold.

ACM Awards 2020 to Go as Planned Despite Concerns Over Coronavirus Spread

Organizers of the Las Vegas prizegiving event assure they will ‘take every precaution to ensure the safety of our artists, staff, crew, guests and attendees’ amid the pandemic.
    Mar 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – The organisers of the Academy of Country Music Awards have assured fans the show will go on as planned next month (April), despite the cancellation of several major events due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Las Vegas event, set for 5 April at the MGM Grand Arena, will feature performances from Keith Urban and Miranda Lambert.
“We are closely monitoring the situation, along with the MGM team, who are in continuous contact with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Southern Nevada Health District, and other agencies and experts for guidance,” a statement from those behind the ceremony reads. “We will take every precaution to ensure the safety of our artists, staff, crew, guests and attendees.”
The ACM Awards news comes as officials in Texas shut down the remaining dates on the Houston Rodeo calendar.
The SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas, as well as California’s Coachella and Stagecoach festivals and the Ultra Music Festival in Miami, Florida have also been postponed, while Pearl Jam and the Zac Brown Band have scrapped upcoming North American tours, due to the coronavirus disease, which was officially classified as a pandemic on Wednesday, March 11.
