Dylan Farrow Asks for Empathy Prior to Explosive Episode of HBO's 'Allen v. Farrow'

    Instagram

Dylan opens up that the episode features ‘a video of me as a seven-year-old child disclosing my abuse to my mother,’ noting that ‘this is the most vulnerable part of who I am.’

    Mar 1, 2021
AceShowbiz – Dylan Farrow took to her social media account to post a long plea, asking for understanding and empathy, before HBO aired a new explosive episode of “Allen v. Farrow” on Sunday, February 28. Dylan opened up that the episode would feature “a video of me as a seven-year-old child disclosing my abuse to my mother.”
“I’m writing this, because to be totally honest I have been losing sleep and overcome with anxiety,” the daughter of Mia Farrow wrote on Twitter. “Tonight’s episode of the Allen v. Farrow docuseries features a video of me as a seven-year-old child disclosing my abuse to my mother. It shows me as I was then, a young, vulnerable child. ‘Little Dylan,’ whom I’ve tried ever since to protect.”
The “Alice” star went on to share, “Deciding to allow this tape to be viewed now publicly in this way has not been easy. I myself had resisted ever watching it until now. It had been long stored away in a closet. Scared. Buried.”
In the statement, Dylan admitted that she “almost didn’t offer it to the filmmakers because being this vulnerable in public is absolutely terrifying for me.” She claimed that she was afraid of people’s judgment against “Little Dylan,” adding, “To think of that happening to this little girl is stomach-churning.” However, she eventually decided to share it “in hopes that Little Dylan’s voice might now help others suffering in silence feel heard, understood and less alone.”

Dylan also revealed the third reason of why she put the footage for public to see. “Personally, I had, for decades, pushed ‘Little Dylan’ away as a coping mechanism. So part of my goal in allowing her to now speak is also to try and find some healing for me and my childhood self. It’s an attempt to make them whole again, and find some peace and closure,” she revealed.
In the said footage, Dylan told her mother about an alleged incident involving her father, Woody Allen, that took place a few days prior. According to the timestamp, the date of the recording was August 5, 1992. “We went into your room and we went into the attic,” the little girl shared. “Then he started telling me weird things. Then secretly he went into the attic….went behind me and touched my privates.”
“If you watch this video, I very much hope you will do so with empathy, compassion and an open mind and heart and not use this as an opportunity to attack, turn away, criticize, mock; or to further shun ‘Little Dylan’ and in doing so shame and silence the millions abused children who are suffering in the world today,” Dylan pleaded in her post. “This is the most vulnerable part of who I am.”

Dylan Farrow spoke out prior to ‘Allen v. Farrow’ episode.
Concluding the message, she wrote, “I hope this tape helps us all find ways to allow painful secrets to come safely out of their closets so we all can heal and move forward in strength and peace. No longer ashamed, buried, scared, sad, and silent.” She also encouraged abuse victims to contact RAINN.

Woody Allen and Soon-Yi Previn Condemn HBO's 'Allen v. Farrow' as a 'Hatchet Job'

    WENN/PNP

In the first episode of the four-part docuseries, Mia’s daughter Dylan Farrow details the allegations of incest that she leveled against Woody, claiming that the filmmaker groomed her from a young age.

    Feb 22, 2021
AceShowbiz – Woody Allen and his wife Soon-Yi Previn have responded to HBO’s docuseries “Allen v. Farrow” that explores his notorious relationship with ex-wife Mia Farrow. Following the release of the first episode of the docuseries on Sunday, February 21, Woody and Soon-Yi released a joint statement, denying sexual molestation claims made against the Oscar-winning auteur.
“These documentarians had no interest in the truth. Instead, they spent years surreptitiously collaborating with the Farrows and their enablers to put together a hatchet job riddled with falsehoods,” the statement read. “Woody and Soon-Yi were approached less than two months ago and given only a matter of days ‘to respond.’ Of course, they declined to do so.”
The statement continued, “As has been known for decades, these allegations are categorically false. Multiple agencies investigated them at the time and found that, whatever Dylan Farrow may have been led to believe, absolutely no abuse had ever taken place. It is sadly unsurprising that the network to air this is HBO – which has a standing production deal and business relationship with Ronan Farrow. While this shoddy hit piece may gain attention, it does not change the facts.”

The new HBO documentary series, which explores the breakdown of the ‘Hannah and Her Sisters’ star’s relationship with the filmmaker, will premiere on February 21.

    Feb 18, 2021
AceShowbiz – Mia Farrow is “scared” of her ex-partner Woody Allen.
The “Hannah and Her Sisters” star was in a relationship with the filmmaker between 1980 and 1992, and almost 30 years after their split, the actress has said she fears her former partner.
Mia spoke as part of the new HBO documentary series “Allen v. Farrow”, which explores the breakdown of their relationship – which began when Allen had an affair with his now-wife and Mia’s adopted daughter, Soon-Yi Previn – and the child sexual abuse allegations made by their adopted daughter Dylan Farrow.
And Mia has said she’s worried the documentary will put Allen “on the attack again” to “save himself from the truth”.
Speaking in a preview for the four-part series – which will premiere on 21 February – Mia said, “I don’t know, I’m just scared. I’m scared of him. A person who has no allegiance to truth will do anything. A person who will do anything is somebody to be scared of.”
“So I worry that when this documentary comes out, he’ll be on the attack again. He’ll do whatever he has to do to try to save himself from the truth, from the mess he made.”

Elsewhere in the documentary, Mia also expressed her regret for ever embarking on a relationship with Allen, as she said he “should never have been in the family”.
“If I could take it all back, I would. I wish I’d never met him,” she continued. “That’s my great regret of my life, to bring somebody like that who should never have been in the family.”

“Allen v. Farrow” features interviews from Mia and Dylan, as well as other members of the Farrow-Previn family, including Ronan Farrow, Fletcher Previn and daughters Quincy and Tam Farrow.
Their family friend and singer Carly Simon and prosecutor Frank Maco are also interviewed, and never-before-seen home footage from Mia and Allen’s life together before their split in 1992 is shown.
Allen and Soon-Yi did not participate in the series, although portions of the director’s memoir, “Apropos of Nothing”, are included via audiobook.
