BTS’ company has merged with music mogul Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings as part of a deal valued at over $1 billion.

Bosses at HYBE – formerly Big Hit Entertainment – will acquire a 100 per cent stake in Ithaca Holdings and its properties, including SB Projects and clients Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and Demi Lovato, as well as Taylor Swift’s former record company Big Machine Label Group, while Scooter will join the board of HYBE, according to a press release obtained by Variety.

As a result, HYBE will become one of the world’s biggest entertainment companies.

“The inevitable joining of HYBE and Ithaca Holdings marks the start of a new adventure no one could have possibly imagined,” the release reads. “The two companies will work closely together leveraging our proven track records of success, know-how, and expertise to create synergy, transcend borders and break down cultural barriers.”

“Please look forward to the endless possibilities of HYBE and Ithaca Holdings, and the new paradigm the partnership will establish in the music industry,” said HYBE chairman and CEO Bang Si-Hyuk.

Meanwhile, Braun adds, “This will be the first time HYBE’s groundbreaking systems and curation will be integrated in the U.S. market at the onset of an artist’s career. Plus, it will help us to continue to further the careers of the artists we already work with.”

BTS Hailed Time Magazine's 2020 Entertainer of the Year

    Time Magazine/Mok Jung Wook

The Bangtan Boys have been named this year’s brightest entertainer by Time magazine following a year of chart domination amid the global coronavirus pandemic.

    Dec 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – K-pop superstars BTS have been crowned Time magazine’s 2020 Entertainer of the Year.
The “Dynamite” hitmakers have been hailed for their chart domination across the world during a tough year due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has crippled the live entertainment industry.
“BTS isn’t just the biggest K-pop act on the charts. They’ve become the biggest band in the world – full stop,” writes the publication’s Raisa Bruner.
BTS follow in the footsteps of Lizzo, who took the title last year (19), and in an interview for the special issue, the bandmembers admit even they still can’t believe how successful they’ve become.
“There are times when I’m still taken aback by all the unimaginable things that are happening. But I ask myself, ‘Who’s going to do this, if not us?’ ” Suga said while RM added, “We’re not sure if we’ve actually earned respect. But one thing for sure is that (people) feel like, ‘OK, this is not just some kind of a syndrome, a phenomenon. These little boys from Korea are doing this.’ ”
And they are proud to have given fans something to be excited about during the global health crisis, after delivering two albums in 2020.

“I always wanted to become an artist that can provide comfort, relief and positive energy to people,” J-Hope shared. “That intent harmonised with the sincerity of our group and led us to who we are today.”

Meanwhile, Time magazine editors have also honoured basketball icon LeBron James as Athlete of the Year, ahead of Thursday night (10Dec20)’s big reveal for the coveted Person of the Year title.

U.S. President Donald Trump, President-elect Joe Biden, the movement for racial justice, and COVID champion Dr. Anthony Fauci, and frontline health care workers are the four finalists for the prize.
Climate activist Greta Thunberg was awarded the 2019 Person of the Year accolade.

Alicia Keys Surprises BTS' ARMY With English Cover of 'Life Goes On'

    WENN/Sheri Determan

The ‘If I Ain’t Got You’ songstress shows her love for the K-pop sensation by posting a mini piano version of the group’s latest single off their new album ‘BE’.

    Nov 26, 2020
AceShowbiz – Alicia Keys is apparently one of BTS’ (Bangtan Boys) stans. On Wednesday, November 25, the R&B singer surprised fans of the seven-piece group, collectively called ARMY, by sharing an English cover of their latest single “Life Goes On”.
In the less-than-50-second clip, the Grammy Award-winning artist sat in front of a piano while wearing a white turtleneck top, with her hair being parted in the middle and styled in two braids. “I bet y’all didn’t think I would play this one. Tell me if you know it,” she opened the video, which she captioned with “Can ya’ll guess this??”
She then belted out the song’s chorus in English. “Life an echo in the forest/ The day will come back around/ As if nothing ever happened/ Yeah…life goes on,” she sang soulfully while playing the piano. “Like an arrow in the blue sky/ Another day flying by/ On my pillow, on my table/ Yeah…life goes on/ Like this again.”
It didn’t take long for BTS to catch Alicia’s cover, replying via their official joint account, “Thank you.. such a big honor” with a smile and a purple heart emoji.

BTS replied to Alicia Keys’ video.

Fans were excited to see Alicia’s video, with one loving their interaction, “this is so cute, legends supporting legends. a collaboration would be ART.” Another has a similar wish, tweeting, “WE NEED A COLLAB.”
It’s not the first time for Alicia and BTS to show their support for each other. Earlier this month, V, a member of the K-pop group, posted a video of him listening to Alicia’s song “Love Looks Better” in the car. “love looks better,” he captioned it.
Alicia then returned the love by hyping up the anticipation for BTS’ then-upcoming new album “BE”. “Big love!!! Good morning. Ya’ll ready for BE?!?” she replied.

Alicia returned the love to BTS.
“Life Goes On” is lifted off “BE” which debuted on November 20. BTS recently made history as the first-ever K-pop group to be nominated at the Grammy Awards. They are up for the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance award for their hit song “Dynamite”, which was released in August and is also included in the new album.
