    Bruno Mars Scores 8th No. 1 Single on Hot 100 With Silk Sonic's 'Leave the Door Open'

    Celebrating the success of his new track on the Billboard chart, the ‘Just the Way You Are’ hitmaker gives a shout-out to collaborator Anderson .Paak, and declares that they are just getting started.

    Bruno Mars is back at the top of the U.S. pop charts with his new Anderson .Paak collaboration Silk Sonic.

    The pair’s “Leave the Door Open” rises from three to top the Billboard Hot 100 and become Bruno’s eighth number one. Reaching the top in its fifth week, the song became Mars’ quickest accession.

    Mars now becomes one of 18 artists in the Hot 100’s history with at least eight chart-toppers. His other No. 1 included “Just the Way You Are”, “Grenade”, “Locked Out of Heaven”, “When I Was Your Man” and “That’s What I Like”.

    The feat helped B.o.B’s collaborator on “Nothin’ on You” to tie the record held by Drake, Katy Perry and Rihanna.

    Celebrating the success of “Leave the Door Open”, Mars expressed his excitement via Instagram. “Cmon @anderson._paak We did it!! Thank you everyone for supporting this song. Y’all really Came throoooougghhhhh. And we’re just getting started,” he wrote. “Press play on #LeaveTheDoorOpen and let us all celebrate and romantically twerk together as one. #LetSilkSonicThrive.”

    Mars’ collaborator, .Paak, turned to Twitter to share similar excitement. He tweeted, “[email protected] WE DID IT BRO!!! It is now safe to wear your bell bottoms all week!! #LeaveTheDoorOpen is the number 1 song in the country and I can’t thank y’all enough! @brunomars we poppin bottles in the Stu today I’m otw champ! AAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!”

    Anderson .Paak shared excitement over ‘Leave the Door Open’ success.

    Last week’s number one, Lil Nas X’s “Montero (Call Me by Your Name)”, drops to two, while Justin Bieber’s “Peaches”, featuring Daniel Caesar and Giveon, also falls a spot to three.

    Meanwhile, Olivia Rodrigo scores a top 10 double as her new single, “Deja Vu”, debuts at eight, three spots below her former eight-week number one “Drivers License”.

    Olivia Rodrigo expressed gratitude for her Top 10 double.

    Marking the chart double on Monday, April 12, “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” breakout star tweeted, “Ahhhh dl and deja vu on there!!!! screaming and crying!!!! thank u so much!!!!!!”

      The newly-formed duo known as Silk Sonic have been tapped as performers at the upcoming Grammy Awards after the members wrote letter to the Recording Academy.

      AceShowbiz – Silk Sonic will perform at the Grammy Awards this Sunday (14Mar21) after bosses took heed of their pleas.
      The band, newly formed by Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak, had been campaigning to land a slot at the telecast all week, with the Recording Academy confirming on Tuesday (09Mar21) that the group will make their live debut at the ceremony.
      Mars’ pleas began with a letter to Grammy bosses, which read, “Dear Grammys. If you can see it in your hearts to allow two out of work musicians to perform at your show, we would really appreciate it.”
      “We just released a song and could really use the promotion right now. We have a lot riding on this record (and the Pelicans game next week, but that’s another story).”

      Insisting that Silk Sonic would follow all the Covid-19 protocols in place for the event, Mars continued, “We haven’t been able to perform for a while and we just want to sing. We’ll send in an audition tape and take as many covid tests as we need to. I promise we won’t be extra. We just really want a gig again. I hope you’ll consider this request and give us the opportunity to shine.”
      Mars’ letter to the Recording Academy came after Anderson urged his bandmate to “call me back” and address their absence from the performer’s list.
      “YO @BrunoMars WHAT THE F**k?!? Did you see this?!?! Call me back!!” he wrote before adding, “Nah f**k that!” .Paak said in another tweet, “I haven’t seen my family in months!! I need this to work, You promised me!! Everybody join in!!! I need all of Twitter to help make this trend!! Come on @RecordingAcad #LetSilkSonicThrive.”
      The Recording Academy then responded to the social media activity, tweeting Mars and Anderson, “We’ve been trying to call you all week. Have you changed your numbers?”
      They then told the pair they would “See you on the #Grammys stage!”

      AceShowbiz – Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak have pleaded with the Grammy Awards bosses to let their new band Silk Sonic perform at the upcoming ceremony.
      The “24K Magic” star shared a note to the Recording Academy on his Twitter page on Sunday night, March 07, following Anderson’s outrage that the newly-formed Silk Sonic were not included on the list of performers for the 14 March ceremony.
      “Dear Grammys,” he wrote. “If you can see it in your hearts to allow two out of work musicians to perform at your show, we would really appreciate it.”
      “We just released a song and could really use the promotion right now. We have a lot riding on this record (and the Pelicans game next week, but that’s another story).”
      Insisting that Silk Sonic would follow all the COVID-19 protocols in place for the event, Mars continued, “We haven’t been able to perform for a while and we just want to sing.       AceShowbiz – While his music is critically acclaimed, Bruno Mars has faced accusations of cultural appropriation throughout his career. The “Versace on the Floor” singer has finally addressed the matter during his appearance on “The Breakfast Club” interview alongside his Silk Sonic teammate Anderson .Paak.
      “People love to accuse you of being a cultural thief, which I find interesting because you are a person of color,” host Charlamagne Tha God said to the biracial singer. “What would you say to those people?”
      Sharing that he has always given credit to the funk, R&B and pop artists who appeared before him, Bruno responded, “I would say: You can’t look at an interview, you can’t find an interview where I’m not talking about the entertainers that’ve come before me. And the only reason why I’m here is because of James Brown, is because of Prince, [Michael Jackson]–that’s the only reason why I’m here.”

      The “24K Magic” artist went on to say, “I’m growing up as a kid, watching Bobby Brown [and] saying, ‘OK, if that’s what it takes to make it, then I’ve got to learn how to do the running man, I’ve got to learn how to do the moon walk.’ That’s it.” Bruno also insisted that “this music comes from love, and if you can’t hear that, then I don’t know what to tell you.”
      He further noted that it was totally normal for musicians to learn something from artists who came before them. “What is the point if us, as musicians, can’t learn from the guys that’ve come before us? What did they do?” he questioned.

      When asked if the criticism made him upset, Bruno said, “It comes with the gig. And there’s real merit to what people are saying about Black entertainers not getting their flowers, and I’m championing with that, I’m with that … I understand, but it’s just Twitter.”

      The pair have teamed up to record an album called “An Evening With Silk Sonic”, and the first tune from the record – which also features “special guest host” Bootsy Collins – is out now with a music video, which sees them dripping in pieces from Bruno’s Lacoste x Ricky Regal Collection.

      The “Finesse” singer has just teamed up with Lacoste to launch his new lifestyle brand, Ricky Regal.
      “Inspired by a lust for life and an entrepreneurial Midas touch, the collection bridges Bruno’s enigmatic personality and distinct style with Lacoste’s iconic blend of sport and luxury,” the company said in a statement.

      Rapper Anderson tweeted, “WE MADE AN ALBUM!! YALL GET THE FIRST SONG NEXT FRIDAY 3/5!! ROCKET EMOJIS AND ALL THAT!!! (sic)”
      The pair are no strangers to working together, after they toured with each other on the 35-year-old singer’s “24K Magic World Tour” in 2017.
      Bruno hasn’t dropped an album since 2016’s “24K Magic”.
      Details of their upcoming collaborative album are still sketchy, but there was speculation that the pair had worked on new material with Chic guitarist Nile Rodgers and a member of Disclosure after a video emerged on social media of the quartet at the famous Abbey Road Studios in London.

      The pair have teamed up to record an album, which appears to be called “An Evening With Silk Sonic”, and the first tune from the record – which also features “special guest host” Bootsy Collins – will be released on 5 March (21).

      “We locked in and made an album,” Bruno wrote on Twitter. “The band’s called Silk Sonic. First song drops next Friday 3/5. (sic)”
