    Cher Excited for 'Mamma Mia! 3' After Previously Turning It Down

    The ‘Dark Lady’ singer originally ruled out any potential return to the third installment of the ABBA musical movie but she reportedly has since changed her decision.

    Cher has reportedly changed her mind about starring in “Mamma Mia! 3” after insisting no one “wants to see us old people on screen.”

    The music icon featured in the musical comedy sequel “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” and revealed that she is prepared to reprise the role so she can duet with her on-screen daughter Donna Sheridan-Carmichael (Meryl Streep).

    According to producer Judy Craymer – who has worked on both the stage and cinematic versions of the ABBA musical – Cher, 74, had told her, “No one wants to see us old people on the screen.”

    Judy responded by saying that she wanted Cher to be in the film and would love to see her sing “Slipping Through My Fingers” with Meryl.

    This prompted a change of heart from the singer, who retorted, “I’m there! When do we start shooting?”

    Judy admits the scene would have to be in the form of a flashback after Meryl’s character was killed off.

    She told the Baz Bamigboye column in the Daily Mail newspaper, “Oh well, you can do anything these days in a film.”

    Craymer has hinted that “Mamma Mia! 3” is “sizzling” in development and noted that a number of cast members, including Dame Julie Walters, Lily James, Colin Firth, and Amanda Seyfried, have expressed their desire to appear in the flick.

    She shared, “Julie said she’d come out retirement! I’ve always said it would be a trilogy.”

    Amanda previously cast doubt on the possibility of a third “Mamma Mia!” movie, suggesting that there isn’t enough ABBA music to make it happen.

    The “Mank” star said, “So yeah, I wish there was a ‘Mamma Mia 3’, but I’ll tell you what – I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again and I hope I’m wrong again.”

    “I don’t think there are enough ABBA songs to make a third movie.”

    “Because we’d have to use ‘Super Trooper’ again and we’d have to use ‘Mamma Mia’ again and have to use them in a different way.”

      AceShowbiz – Cher doesn’t know how much she makes from her Las Vegas residency.
      The “Strong Enough” icon has held a residency in Sin City since 2008, but she’s still not entirely sure how much she makes from the money-spinning shows.
      Asked whether she really gets paid $60 million (£43.8 million) a year in Las Vegas, she replied, “It sounds like a good number, but I don’t know the figure.”
      “I know I go to work and I like it and I’m getting paid well, but also I have an overhead you can’t believe. I have 100 people on staff.”
      Despite her continued success, Cher worries about ageing and is now more cautious than ever about going out because she’s surrounded by people with camera phones.

      Asked if getting older worries her, she told Britain’s The Guardian newspaper, “I hate it. What, I’m going to say I like it? No, I don’t. Any woman who is honest will say it’s not as much fun. When I was working on the road we used to work two shows a night and then go out dancing all night long.”
      “It’s like we’ve got to rest because you’ve got another night. Also, I don’t like going out now because everybody’s got a camera and it’s not safe. People rush you, and you don’t know if they’re going to kill you or take your picture. Either way, I don’t like it.”
      Cher has undergone a number of plastic surgeries during her life.
      But the chart-topping star can’t understand why some girls want to get surgery at such a young age.
      “These girls are having surgery at 18. So come on!” she sighed. “I’ve never seen girls do so much to want to change everything they look like. I never wanted to do that. You’ve got big lips to start with and a big butt. I don’t understand it.”

      AceShowbiz – Cher is glad her “Here We Go Again Tour” was shut down in March, because the pop legend knew how dangerous the coronavirus crisis was going to be.
      The 73-year-old singer icon was on the road when her 12 March concert in Oklahoma was cancelled and she knew instinctively that government officials were making the right decision to shut everything down.
      “I knew more than most Americans because I had friends in Italy who were doing live shows when it was there, and everybody had to just get out,” she tells Billboard. “We were lucky we didn’t all come down with it because my dancers and I were literally two inches away from each other, breathing right into each other’s mouths onstage.”
      Cher headed home to Malibu, California to start self-isolating and after a few days of rest and relaxation, she headed to her recording studio to rework ABBA’s classic Chiquitita as her first Spanish-language song.
      “I knew I wanted to do something,” she says. “I actually started learning and rehearsing the song when I was in England last year but didn’t record it then.”
      The new track will debut on 8 May and the video will premiere as part of UNICEF’s COVID-19 Virtual Special, which begins at 8 P.M. EST on Saturday, May 09, on unicefwontstop.org and youtube.com/uincefusa.

      “UNICEF called and I told them I would donate my proceeds from the song…,” Cher tells Billboard. “I shot my part of the video at home and they later sent me the final cut with children from around the world in it. It’s such a beautiful, optimistic experience. It’s great when you can see anything positive now because all of the turmoil we are in.”
