Claiming that he’s as surprised as fans to learn of the news, the 39-year-old tweeted it was “news to me” after the reports broke on Thursday, January 14. Deadline was the one to break the news that Evans is expected to reprise his role as Captain America. While the site noted that “it’s still vague whether the deal is closed,” so-called insiders told the outlet that the actor will return in a future Marvel project, with the door open for a second film.
It’s additionally noted that it’s unlikely to be a solo Captain America film and more likely to be what Robert Downey Jr. did after “Iron Man 3”, appearing in such films as “Captain America: Civil War” and “Spider-Man: Homecoming”. Marvel has yet to comment on the news.
Evans marked the last time he played Captain America in 2018 as he wrapped up the filming of “Avengers: Endgame”. “Officially wrapped on Avengers 4,” he tweeted at the time. “It was an emotional day to say the least. Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honor. To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful.”
The 2019 blockbuster movie also seemed to give his character a closure, with Cap handing his shield to Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson a.k.a. Falcon. Following the end of MCU’s Phase 3, Falcon and Sebastian Stan’s Winter Soldier are heading to small screen with “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” series to be released on Disney+.

Chris Evans Persuaded to Take on 'Captain America' by His Mother

    Marvel Studios

In a new magazine interview, the Marvel Universe actor’s mother, Lisa, admits that her son was hesitant to seize the casting opportunity since his ‘biggest fear was losing his anonymity.’
    Apr 7, 2020
AceShowbiz – Chris Evans has his mum to thanks for his role as Captain America after she urged him to reconsider turning down the Marvel blockbuster.
The actor passed on the titular superhero role “a few times,” and told Jimmy Kimmel last year that he was “scared” of being a part of a massive film franchise.
Now it has been revealed that it was the actor’s mum, Lisa, who convince him to seize the career-making opportunity.
She tells Esquire magazine that Chris feared the pressures of fame.

“His biggest fear was losing his anonymity,” she explains. “He said, ‘I have a career now where I can do work I really like. I can walk my dog. Nobody bothers me. Nobody wants to talk to me. I can go wherever I want. And the idea of losing that is terrifying to me.’ ”
She adds, “I said to him, ‘Look, you want to do acting work for the rest of your life? If you do this part, you will have the opportunity. You’ll never have to worry about paying the rent. If you take the part, you just have to decide, ‘It’s not going to affect my life negatively – it will enable it.’ ”

Evans, who also portrayed Johnny Storm in 2005’s “Fantastic Four” and its 2007 sequel, took his mother’s advice and has now played Steve Rogers (a.k.a. Captain America) in 10 Marvel movies.

Chris Evans in Talks to Join Greg Berlanti's 'Little Shop of Horrors'

    WENN/Instar

‘Rocketman’ actor Taron Egerton and ‘The Avengers’ actress Scarlett Johansson have also been said to be frontrunner for the part of Seymour Krelborn and his love interest, Audrey, respectively.
    Feb 25, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Captain America” star Chris Evans is reportedly in line to tackle his dream gig in the planned remake of the “Little Shop of Horrors” movie musical.
The actor is in early negotiations to play Dentist Orin Scrivello in the project, which Greg Berlanti will direct for Warner Bros.
The role was previously made famous by comedian Steve Martin in the 1986 film adaptation of the 1982 musical, which itself was a take on Roger Corman’s original 1960 movie.
Also in tentative discussions for the new revamp are “Rocketman”‘s Taron Egerton and Evans’ “The Avengers” co-star Scarlett Johansson, who are respective frontrunners to portray Seymour Krelborn and his love interest, Audrey.
“Little Shop of Horrors” follows a florist who finds himself raising a killer plant that lives off human blood. “Pose” actor Billy Porter is said to be in consideration to voice the frightening creature, known as Audrey II.
The news of Evans’ potential casting comes almost a year after he pleaded with producers to consider inviting him to play Scrivello, Audrey’s crazed boyfriend.
“I want to do a musical so badly, man,” he told The Hollywood Reporter in March, 2019. “Someone told me they’re (remaking) Little Shop of Horrors and I was like, ‘Oh, can I be down? Please? Can I be the dentist?'”
He has yet to comment on the “Little Shop of Horror” rumours.
