    Claire Foy to Fall in Love With Merman in New Movie 'The Pisces'

    The ‘Little Dorrit’ actress has been tapped to play the lead character in the upcoming novel adaptation about a woman who becomes infatuated with a merman.

    AceShowbiz – Claire Foy has been cast as a woman infatuated with a merman in “The Pisces”.
    The 36-year-old actress will star in Gillian Robespierre’s movie as PhD student Lucy – who is plagued with writer’s block and romantic obsession.
    “The Pisces” is based on Melissa Broder’s critically acclaimed novel of the same name and centres on Lucy’s erotic infatuation with a merman. The flick is more than just a romance between lady and fish-man, as it explores the boundaries between pleasure and possession, fantasy and reality and the way women choose the men in their lives.
    Melissa and Gillian Robespierre have written the script while Anne Carey and Amy Nauiokas are producing under their Archer Gray banner.
    Claire is also set to star in an adaptation of the novel “Migrations” alongside Benedict Cumberbatch.

    “The Crown” actress is also executive producing the flick which is based on Charlotte McConaghy’s book.
    The story centres on Franny Stone, whose dark past of love, loss, crime and motherhood unfolds on an odyssey through stormy seas with a team of misfit fishermen.
    Claire said, “Charlotte has created an utterly unique and beautiful story with a compelling and fascinating woman at its heart. I couldn’t be more honoured or excited to help bring this truly remarkable novel to the screen.”
    Producer Leah Clarke added, “We have been looking for an opportunity to collaborate again with Claire on something special that explores big themes and offers Claire an opportunity to portray a character the likes of which we have not seen before.”
    “We are delighted to have found it in Charlotte’s undeniably cinematic Migrations and the character of Franny Stone. Together we all hope to bring you something very special.”

      AceShowbiz – Former “The Crown” star Claire Foy is venturing back into the horror genre as the star of the upcoming chiller “Dust”.
      The actress will portray a young mother in 1930s Oklahoma, who is forced to confront the haunting details of her past as she finds herself trapped in a series of dust storms.
      “Westworld” writer Will Joines and Karrie Crouse are set to direct.
      Foy previously tackled the horror genre as the star of Steven Soderbergh’s 2018 film “Unsane”.

      The awards ceremony, where the victors are decided by a public vote, also sees new musical ‘And Juliet’ dominating the winners list by securing 6 of the 13 awards it was nominated for.

      AceShowbiz – Claire Foy and Andrew Scott were among the winners at the WhatsOnStage Awards in London on Sunday night (March 01).
      “The Crown” star took home the Best Actress in a Play prize for her performance in Lungs, while “Fleabag” heartthrob Scott was awarded the Best Actor in a Play gong for “Present Laughter”.
      Scott beat out Claire’s “The Crown” co-star Matt Smith to win his award – Smith reunited with Foy to star in Lungs, the story of a “conflicted couple who wrestle with huge contemporary dilemmas surrounding the responsibility of bringing new life into an increasingly precarious world”.
      New musical “& Juliet” was the big winner at the awards ceremony, where the victors are decided by a public vote, taking home six of the 13 awards it was nominated for.
      The production, which includes songs by Britney Spears, Katy Perry and Justin Timberlake and imagines what would have happened if Juliet had lived after Romeo died in William Shakespeare’s classic “Romeo and Juliet”, saw Miriam-Teak Lee crowned Best Actress in a Musical, while also winning prizes in technical categories such as costume and set design, sound and lighting.
      Sheffield Theatres’ “Life of Pi” was named Best New Play – marking the first time the award has been won by a venue outside London – while other notable winners on the evening included Scott’s “Present Laughter” co-star Sophie Thompson, who took home the Best Supporting Actress in a Play prize.
