  • Daisy Ridley Signed on for New Movie About Adolf Hilter Assassination Attempt

    WENN

The ‘Star Wars’ actress has been officially announced to play one of the major characters in the upcoming World War II feature film called ‘Women in the Castle’.
    Sep 6, 2020
AceShowbiz – Daisy Ridley, Kristin Scott Thomas, and German actress Nina Hoss are set to star in an adaptation of the bestseller “Women in the Castle”.
The drama centres on the widows of three conspirators involved in an assassination attempt on Nazi Germany leader Adolf Hitler. Though the World War Two story is fictional, it is inspired by firsthand accounts from the time period.
Directed by Jane Anderson, who previously adapted “The Wife” for the big screen in 2017, the script is based on the novel by Jessica Shattuck.
“One of Jane’s great talents is to reveal the inner emotional lives of women and in gifting those revelations to actresses, allowing them to deliver award-winning, timelessly memorable performances,” said producer Rosalie Swedlin in a statement. “And in Kristin, Daisy and Nina we have the cast to do exactly that.”
The film is set to go into production early next year (21) in Eastern Europe.

  • Daisy Ridley Struggling to Find Job After 'Star Wars'

    WENN

The new heroine of the ‘Star Wars’ sequel trilogy admits to getting rejected from a lot of auditions following her onscreen role in the galaxy far far away.
    Aug 31, 2020
AceShowbiz – Daisy Ridley has struggled to secure work since starring in the “Star Wars” film franchise.
The 28-year-old actress was cast as scavenger-turned-Jedi Rey in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” in 2015, and went on to reprise the role in 2017 sequel, “The Last Jedi”, and 2019’s “The Rise of Skywalker”.
But despite being being lauded for her performance, the British star tells Entertainment Weekly she had her confidence rattled when no one would hire her following the early career success.
“Weirdly, at the beginning of the year nothing was coming through. I was like, ‘Aww! No one wants to employ me,’ ” she explains. “There were actually loads of things that I auditioned for at the beginning of the year and didn’t get any of them.”
“I had that moment of ‘Oh my god!’ and then just thought ‘everything in its right time,’ ” the star reflects.
While Daisy’s struggled to pick up work, she won’t be absent from screens and is set to appear in upcoming film “Chaos Walking”, co-starring “Spider-Man” actor Tom Holland and directed by “The Bourne Identity” ‘s director Doug Liman.
Originally filmed in 2017, the movie was due for release way back in March, 2019 – but the release date was moved to account for reshoots. The sci-fi drama – based on Patrick Ness’s 2008 novel “The Knife of Never Letting Go” – is due to hit cinemas from 22 January, 2021.

Daisy Ridley Finds the Lukewarm Response to 'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker' Upsetting

    Walt Disney Pictures

During a sit-down with the DragCast podcast, the actress playing Rey in the ‘Star Wars’ sequel trilogy admits to have struggled accepting the backlash in the beginning of 2020.
    Apr 14, 2020
AceShowbiz – Daisy Ridley had a terrible start to the year as she could no longer feel the love from critical “Star Wars” fans, who hated her final film in the franchise.
“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” was mauled by critics and fans alike when it opened in late December (19), and Daisy was still struggling with the backlash as 2020 began.
“This last film was really tricky,” Ridley said during a sit-down with the DragCast podcast. “January was not that nice. It was weird, I felt like all of this love that we’d sort of been shown the first time around, I was like, ‘Where’s the love gone?’ ”
She adds that she and the cast shared an experience “filled with love” on set, making it all the more difficult to accept the lukewarm response.
“I watched the documentary, the making-of (‘The Skywalker Legacy’), this week,” Ridley continued, referencing the documentary on the film’s Blu-Ray release, “and it’s so filled with love, and I think it’s that tricky thing of when you’re part of something that is so filled with love and then people (don’t like it). You know, everyone’s entitled to not like something, but it feels like it’s changed slightly.”
Ridley admitted she had a hard time avoiding negative articles and reactions because they flooded her social media feeds.

“I guess now conversations are just more public, so there’s stuff I wouldn’t have seen, but honestly trying to scroll through my newsfeed in January and trying to not see ‘Star Wars’ stuff, I’d see headlines and be like ‘Oh my God, this is so upsetting,’ ” she shares.
