    Dave Chappelle Agrees to Let His Show Stream on Netflix After He Gets His License Back

    The ‘Chappelle’s Show’ star thanks his fans, crediting them for helping him get his ‘name back’ after his show was allegedly licensed to Netflix without his consent.

    AceShowbiz – “Chappelle’s Show” is returning to Netflix, the comedian has announced in a 10-minute video posted to Instagram on Wednesday (10Feb21).
    In the clip from a stand-up performance recorded at Stubb’s Waller Creek in Austin, Texas, he explained the show will be returning to the streaming service on Friday (12Feb) after he agreed a new licensing deal with Comedy Central bosses.
    “I asked you to stop watching the show and thank God almighty for you, you did. You made that show worthless because without your eyes, it’s nothing,” Chappelle told the audience. “And when you stopped watching it, they called me. And I got my name back and I got my license back and I got my show back and they paid me millions of dollars. Thank you very much.”

    Chappelle’s Show was removed from Netflix last November (20), less than a month after its debut. He made the request after allegedly being unable to receive royalties for the show based on a contract he signed with Comedy Central and its parent company, ViacomCBS. He also claimed the show had been licensed without his consent.
    Chappelle opened the video, which shows him performing a standup set, discussing how he caught COVID-19 last year which he blamed on his eagerness to perform.
    “I did because in the beginning of the pandemic, I talked to a guy in the live entertainment business and I said, ‘When can we go back to work?’ He said probably some time in 2022,” Chappelle said. “And I said, ‘There’s no f**king way I can wait that long.'”
    He also touched on the Capitol riots in the U.S. “Watch that crowd that told Colin Kaepernick he can’t kneel during a football game try to beat a police officer to death with an American flag. … They carried a Confederate flag through the rotunda. The Confederate army didn’t even do that,” Chappelle said.

      AceShowbiz – Netflix bosses have pulled all episodes of Dave Chappelle’s old sketch show from the streaming service at the funnyman’s request.
      “Chappelle’s Show”, which originally aired on U.S. cable network Comedy Central from 2003 to 2006, only recently became available to Netflix subscribers to watch, but the cult comedy series disappeared from the platform on Monday night (November 23) – and on Tuesday morning, Chappelle explained why.
      He shared a video clip from a recent stand-up gig on Instagram, explaining how he “never got paid” for co-creating, starring in and executive producing his show after departing the ViacomCBS-owned network due to creative differences.
      Chappelle insists the non-payment was legal because it was all part of a contract he signed when he was a desperate young comedian with a baby on the way, but he’s still sore about the fall out, particularly as TV executives continue to cash in on his popularity with non-exclusive licensing deals – like the one they agreed with Netflix representatives.
      However, when he found out “Chappelle’s Show” was on Netflix, the platform he recently worked with for three lucrative standup specials, he addressed the issue with company executives, explaining how he earns no royalties – and they agreed to dump the “stolen” series.

      In the Instagram footage, titled “Unforgiven”, he tells the audience, “That’s why I like working for Netflix. I like working for Netflix because when all those bad things happened to me, that company didn’t even exist. And when I found out they were streaming ‘Chappelle’s Show’, I was furious…. How could they not know?”
      “So you know what I did? I called them and I told them that this makes me feel bad. And you want to know what they did? They agreed that they would take it off their platform just so I could feel better. That’s why I f**k with Netflix. Because they paid me my money, they do what they say they’re going to do, and they went above and beyond what you could expect from a businessman.”
      “They did something just because they thought that I might think that they were wrong,” he added. “And I do – I think that if you are f**king streaming that show you’re fencing stolen goods.”

      Although “Chappelle’s Show” is no longer on Netflix, it remains available on the Comedy Central and CBS All Access platforms, as well as HBO Max.

      AceShowbiz – Funnyman Dave Chappelle has hit out at Donald Trump’s white supporters who don’t wear masks during the coronavirus pandemic.
      While hosting “Saturday Night Live” (SNL) this weekend (07Nov20), the comedian fired at complaints that face masks are “oppressive” while giving them a lesson in Black history.
      “You don’t even want to wear your mask because it’s oppressive? Try wearing the mask I’ve been wearing all these years!” Dave said. “I can’t even tell something true unless it has a punchline behind it. You guys aren’t ready. You’re not ready for this. You don’t know how to survive yourselves.”
      “In fact, we’re the only ones that know how to survive this,” he continued, adding, “Whites come, hurry, quick, come get your n***a lessons.”

      Elsewhere in the show, Alec Baldwin reprised his famed imitation of U.S. leader Donald Trump to imagine his concession speech after Democratic nominee Joe Biden beat him to become the 46th POTUS.
      As Trump, Alec started off his speech by claiming that he was re-elected as president, saying, “As anyone who died halfway through Tuesday knows, I was re-elected president of the United States.”
      During the skit, he pointed to a map of the U.S. and boasted about how red the states were – only to realise it was a Covid map and not representative of his Republican party.

      He then chanted, “Stop the count!” until he was told off-screen that he was actually behind, to which he started chanting, “Count every vote.”
