    Dominic West Confirmed to Play Prince Charles for Final Seasons of 'The Crown'

    The former cast member of ‘The Affair’ has been confirmed by Josh O’Connor to portray the heir to the British throne in the upcoming two seasons of the royal drama series.

    Dominic West will portray Prince Charles in the final two seasons of “The Crown”, according to his predecessor.

    West was previously linked to the royal role but now Josh O’Connor, who won a 2021 Golden Globe and Critics Choice award for his portrayal of Charles on the show, has confirmed he’ll be passing the baton to “The Affair” star.

    “It’s lovely to come away and go, ‘Great. Now hand it over to Dominic West,’ ” Josh tells GQ while laughing off any suggestion he’ll be handing out advice to his successor.

    “If Dominic West came to me asking me for advice, I’d laugh him off,” Josh explains. “I’d be like, ‘Dom! You’re Dominic West!'”

    Netflix bosses have yet to confirm that West will play Charles but, if O’Connor’s announcement is correct, the “300” actor will be joining Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II, Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret, and Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip in the drama.

    The previous season focused on Prince Charles’ tumultuous relationship with Princess Diana who’s portrayed by Emma Corrin.

    The actress won the coveted Best Actress in a Drama Series at the Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice Television Awards while her counterpart grabbed Best Actor in a Drama Series at the same two prestigious prize-giving events.

    As Josh O’Connor is expected to pass the mantle to Dominic West for the new season, it’s still unclear if Emma Corrin will be returning for the next installment.

      AceShowbiz – Lily James made her first television appearance since hitting headlines worldwide with pictures of her kissing her married co-star Dominic West as she spoke to Jimmy Fallon on his U.S. talk show on Wednesday night (21Oct20).
      The 31-year-old actress had cancelled a string of television interviews, on shows including “The Graham Norton Show” and America’s “Today” show in America, following the emergence of the snaps. But interviewer Fallon stuck to the script and didn’t ask Lily about the romance speculation as she appeared on the programme, instead, asking questions about “Mamma Mia!” and the Netflix adaptation of “Rebecca”.
      The British star looked somewhat nervous as she faced Fallon on the video interview, but smiled for the camera as she insisted she’d be up for starring in another “Mamma Mia!” movie, and also reflected on her own experiences with ghosts considering the dark undertones of “Rebecca”.

      Lily’s appearance on “The Tonight Show” came after she and Dominic, who star together in the upcoming “Pursuit of Love”, were accused of breaking strict Covid-19 rules when they were pictured riding together through Rome, Italy, on the same electric scooter.
      “The law is quite clear – riding tandem on an e-scooter is forbidden,” local councillor Stefano Marin told Britain’s The Sun newspaper. “It’s a breach of the highway code and a breach of the new COVID laws. You are supposed to maintain social distance and riding tandem on a scooter is not keeping social distance.
      “Now we have been made aware of this we shall be investigating. The law is equal for all.”
      Representatives for Lily and Dominic have yet to comment on the councillor’s allegation, or the pictures.
      Following the publication of the cosy images with Lily, Dominic returned home to put on a united front with wife Catherine Fitzgerald, with the pair smiling and kissing for waiting journalists, as well as handing out a piece of paper on which they insisted they were still “very much together.”

      The casting reports come after ‘The Affair’ star was spotted kissing Lily James on their way back to Britain from a film shoot in Italy, but insisted that his marriage is solid.

      AceShowbiz – Dominic West has reportedly emerged as the favorite to play Prince Charles in the final two seasons of “The Crown”.
      The role comes as West attempts to convince the media his marriage is solid after he and Lily James were spotted kissing on their way back to Britain from a film shoot in Italy.

      Ironically, the actor’s storyline on “The Crown” will deal with Charles’ alleged affair with his second wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, while he was married to Princess Diana.
      An insider tells The Sun, “Show bosses looked at several stars for the sought-after role, but he was by far their preferred actor. Now both parties are hammering out a deal.”

      West’s representatives have yet to comment on the casting news.
      To add to the irony, Lily James recently split from her longtime boyfriend Matt Smith, who portrayed Charles’ father, Prince Philip, in the first two seasons of “The Crown”.
      West’s casting news comes as new photos of him kissing James in Rome emerge, while Lily has pulled out of TV appearances to promote her new Netflix film, “Rebecca”, amid the scandal.
      West insists there’s nothing to the photos and he and his wife staged a bizarre show of unity last week, posing for snaps together outside their home in Wiltshire and passing out a note to the U.K. paparazzi, which read, “Our marriage is strong and we’re very much still together.”

      “The Crown” will return with its new season 4 on Netflix on November 15. Olivia Colman stars as Queen Elizabeth, with Gillian Anderson joining the cast as Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. The season will depict the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer, played by Josh O’Connor and Emma Corrin respectively.

      AceShowbiz – Lily James has cancelled an appearance on U.S. breakfast show “Today” amid all the drama surrounding her rumoured relationship with married co-star Dominic West.
      The British actress was billed to appear on the programme on Monday (19Oct20) to promote her new Netflix drama “Rebecca”, alongside co-star Armie Hammer, but according to Page Six, both have cancelled their interview.
      James hit the headlines earlier this month (Oct20), when she was spotted with West, who plays her father in a new BBC drama, during a two-day trip to Rome, where they reportedly shared a suite at the Hotel De La Ville. They were also spotted kissing at the Leonardo da Vinci airport on their way back to the U.K.
      As soon as the photos were published in The Sun, West and his wife, Catherine FitzGerald, staged a joint press conference to insist their marriage was solid.

      They handed reporters and photographers a note which read, “Our marriage is strong and we’re very much still together.”
      Representatives for James did not immediately return our request for comment.
      Just recently, Lily James declined to address the nature of her relationship with Dominic West when she’s asked about the rumors in a press junket. “This isn’t the time for me to do that but I appreciate you asking,” she insisted.
      The “Downton Abbey” actress was previously in a relationship with Matt Smith. She called it off with the “Doctor Who” star in 2014.
