Also included in Netflix’s 2021 movie slate is ‘Red Notice’, an action comedy starring Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds, which the streaming service also offers a glimpse of.

    Jan 13, 2021
AceShowbiz – Home entertainment will be merrier and more colorful this year with a bunch of films prepared by Netflix for the next twelve months. The streaming giant has previewed its original movies as part of its 2021 slate and among the highly-anticipated ones is “Don’t Look Up”.
Hyping up the anticipation, Netflix shared the first footage of the Adam McKay-directed flick in a sneak peek released on Tuesday, January 12. The video offers a glimpse of Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio as nerdy scientists.
Against what’s instructed by the movie’s title, both of them can’t help raise their heads to look at the sky upon arriving in what looks like a military aircraft. The expression on DiCaprio’s face gives a sign of weariness.
The political satire disaster film centers on two low-level astronomers (Lawrence and DiCaprio) who discover that a meteor will hit Earth in six months. They will embark on an unsuccessful media tour in an attempt to warn the world of the impending danger that may destroy mankind.

The film has star-studded cast which also includes Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, Cate Blanchett, Timothee Chalamet, Himesh Patel, Kid Cudi, Matthew Perry, Ariana Grande and Chris Evans. An exact release date is yet to be announced as production on the film is still underway.
The preview also offers a look at “Red Notice”, an action comedy thriller film written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber. It stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds, who introduce the video.
According to the official synopsis, “an INTERPOL-issued Red Notice is a global alert to hunt and capture the world’s most wanted. But when a daring heist brings together the FBI’s top profiler (Johnson) and two rival criminals (Gadot, Reynolds), there’s no telling what will happen.”
With those two movies, “The Woman in the Window”, “Beauty”, “The Harder They Fall”, “Army of the Dead” and “Tick, Tick … Boom!” just to name a few among the lineup, Netflix promised to release “a new movie EVERY WEEK.”

McKay is directing and co-producing the film from a script he wrote for Netflix.
Chris Evans is also set to lend his voice to Buzz Lightyear in a new Pixar movie. Titled “Lightyear”, the upcoming movie is a prequel to the “Toy Story” film series. “Just to be clear, this isn’t Buzz Lightyear the toy. This is the origin story of the human Buzz Lightyear that the toy is based on,” the actor explained.
He also insisted he wasn’t replacing Tim Allen in the film. “Tim Allen is Buzz Lightyear, and no one could ever touch his performance,” he said. “I needed to know how this character was different and why this story was worth telling. I can say 2 things with absolute confidence: 1.. I didn’t stop smiling through the ENTIRE pitch. Ear to ear. 2. Everyone can rest easy. And get very excited.”
The Marvel star was last seen on the big screen in 2019’s “Knives Out”. He also starred on miniseries “Defending Jacob” last year. His other next projects include “The Gray Man” which will reunite him with “Captain America” director, the Russo brothers.

DiCaprio and Lawrence will take on the lead roles in “Don’t Look Up”, which centers on two low-level astronomers who discover that a meteor will hit Earth in six months. They will embark on an unsuccessful media tour in an attempt to warn the world of the impending danger that may destroy mankind.
McKay will write and co-produce the flick under his Hyperobject Industries Banner in addition to serving as director. When the project was first announced in February of this year, it was expected that the production would start in April. But the coronavirus crisis has derailed the plan and as of now, no start date and release date are announced for the movie just yet.
Scott Stuber, head of Netflix films, said of the project earlier this year, “Adam has always had great timing when it comes to making smart, relevant and irreverent films that depict our culture. Even if he somehow ends up predicting planet Earth’s imminent demise, we’re excited to add this to our slate before it all comes to an end.”
According to Deadline, most of cast had been loosely attached since the spring, but DiCaprio needed some time to consider if he could do both “Don’t Look Up” and his next Martin Scorsese film “Killers of the Flower Moon”. But it appears that the production delay works out for the best for the movie, since it allows the Oscar-winning actor to fit “Don’t Look Up” into his schedule now.
