Kelly Macdonald Reveals Which 'Trainspotting' Scene She Filmed While Hungover

    Miramax Films

Looking back at the role that kicked off her acting career, the actress playing Diane in Danny Boyle’s drugs drama additionally talks about her experience shooting sex scene with Ewan McGregor.

    Mar 8, 2021
AceShowbiz – The “Trainspotting” cast was often drunk during filming, according to star Kelly Macdonald. The actress, who played Diane in Danny Boyle’s drugs drama, reveals many of her co-stars were inebriated as cameras rolled.
“I thought it was OK because everyone else was [drinking],” she told The Guardian. “It was like high school, you just try to fit in. We were just hanging out at the pub. The green room was a little caravan that we were all supposed to sit in. And the sensible people would sit, and the others would go to the local pub.”
And Kelly admits she had been drinking all day before shooting the film’s famous club scene, when her character met Ewan McGregor’s Renton for the first time. “By the time it came to me doing the talky bit, I was already hungover,” she said.

Although the actress is proud of the film, she admitted she has only ever seen it once. “I’ve not watched it since the premiere, so I have no idea,” she laughed. “I’m sure I’m quite bad in it, actually.”
But she will never forget shooting a sex scene with McGregor, adding, “Ewan had done a lot of sex scenes before that, and he was so sweet to me and talked me through it, and made me feel as comfortable as I could be.”
On her experience working with good directors, Macdonald said, “Oh God, I’ve been so lucky. A lot of it is being in the right place at the right time. I’m quite good at not working for the sake of working, although sometimes it would have benefited me fiscally.”
“But if my instincts say it’s not for me, then I go with that,” the 45-year-old actress elaborated. “Because the couple of jobs that I’ve done that I’ve not really been right for, and I’ve had that feeling, I’ve generally been correct.”

Ewan McGregor Blocked From Alan McGee Biopic Due to His Look

    WENN

The ‘Star Wars’ star was originally tipped to front the ‘Creation Stories’ but the man who inspired the movie vetoed the plan because the actor was too good-looking.

    Mar 7, 2021
AceShowbiz – Creation Records boss Alan McGee urged filmmakers to reconsider plans to ask Ewan McGregor to play the music mogul in a new biopic because he was too good looking.
McGregor’s “Trainspotting” co-star Ewan Bremner eventually landed the role of McGee in “Creation Stories”, but the mastermind behind bands like Oasis and Primal Scream has revealed the “Star Wars” actor was initially lined up to portray him.
“They proposed Ewan McGregor to me,” Alan tells NME.com. “I went, ‘I don’t look like that! I’m not a good looking chap! I’m just a wee guy from Glasgow.’ ”
“Then they went, ‘What about Spud (Bremner’s Trainspotting character)?’ I was like, ‘F**king right!’ He’s such a great actor, Ewen Bremner. He gets me. He so gets me.”

Ewan McGregor Snaps at Paparazzi on Set of His New Show

    WENN

The ‘Trainspotting’ actor is caught on camera losing his cool with a shutterbug who took pictures while the star was filming his new Netflix miniseries ‘Halston’ in New York.

    Nov 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ewan McGregor launched a foul-mouthed rant at a paparazzi close by the set of his new Netflix show.
The Scottish star, 49, was on the set of new miniseries “Halston” in New York’s Central Park when he flew into a rage at paparazzi photographer Steve Sands who was taking snaps.
In a clip filmed last Thursday (05Nov20), the star, who plays late fashion designer Roy Halston Frowick, storms towards the snapper and shouts, “Stop talking to me… I’m walking behind this f**king flag!”
It is not known exactly what the “Doctor Sleep” star was referring to, but sources tell The Sun there was a piece of material being held up by the crew.

“It was pretty shocking,” they told the publication, adding, “You could clearly hear him yelling f**k in his Scottish accent.”
An insider also claimed the photographer was being a nuisance and the star was trying to protect the crew, but Sands, 64, shared, “I got into a tit for tat on the set. Then Ewan yells at me. That was the end. I don’t hold anything against him.”
The miniseries will chronicle the rise and fall of Roy Halston Frowick who helped define the 1970s and 1980s fashion scene. The research was done through speaking to the late designer’s old friends and former assistants.
The project was written by Sharr White (“The Affair”), directed by Daniel Minahan (“American Crime Story”), and produced by Ryan Murphy. “After 20 long years of twists and turns, the limited series Halston starring Ewan McGregor began production today,” Murphy said earlier this year when they kicked off the filming.

  • Ewan McGregor Says Obi Wan Kenobi Series Will Kick Off Production in March 2021

    Walt Disney Pictures

The ‘Trainspotting’ actor is expected to start filming his ‘Star Wars’ spin-off series next year following a delay due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
    Oct 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ewan McGregor has confirmed he’s to start filming his “Obi Wan Kenobi Star Wars” spin-off series in March (21).
The British actor was originally due to reprise his role as a younger version of Luke Skywalker’s Jedi mentor from the original “Star Wars” movie, one he played in the prequel films, for a Disney+ series this year (20).
The show was pushed back until 2021 in January and, amid the Covid-19 pandemic, Ewan has revealed filming is now scheduled to begin in March.

“It is the Obi Wan Kenobi story I suppose – it’s not just me in it, but there will certainly be a lot of me!” he told U.K. chat show host Graham Norton of the series.
“I’m wracking my brains about what I’m meant to say and what I can’t say about it. What I can say is that we start filming in March next year.”
Asked about how he felt taking over the role from Alec Guinness, who played the character in “Star Wars: A New Hope” – the film that kicked off the beloved science-fiction franchise in 1977 – the “Trainspotting” actor said he had studied Alec’s work before appearing in the prequels.
“I am a huge fan and had a great time studying him through his early films,” the 49-year-old explained. “It is a fun thing to try and imagine him as a young guy. I am getting much closer in age to him so it will be my challenge to try and meet him somewhere.”

Ewan McGregor Done Recording His First Part for Guillermo del Toro's 'Pinocchio'

    WENN

In a new Zoom interview, the ‘Doctor Sleep’ star confirms his casting as Jiminy Cricket in the revamp project, and gets cryptic on the possibility of him contributing to a musical number.
    Jun 17, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ewan McGregor has joined the cast of Guillermo del Toro’s “Pinocchio” revamp – he’ll voice the character Jiminy Cricket.
In a new Zoom interview with ACE Universe, the Scottish movie star has confirmed the casting, revealing he started working on the project before the coronavirus lockdown shut down the film industry.
“It’s stop-motion animated, so it’s going to take them a great long time to make that film, but my first part, which is recording his dialogue, is sort of done,” Ewan says. “There may or may not be a song that has to be recorded. I’m not sure I’m at liberty to discuss that.”

Oscar winner del Toro previously revealed that his version of the classic Carlo Collodi fairytale will be dark.
“In our story, Pinocchio is an innocent soul with an uncaring father who gets lost in a world he cannot comprehend,” “The Shape of Water” director said. “He embarks on an extraordinary journey that leaves him with a deep understanding of his father and the real world.”
