The duo’s 2012 breakout hit ‘Cruise’ and their 2017 Bebe Rexha collaboration, ‘Meant to Be’, have set a new record for the Recording Industry Association of America, which was founded in 1952.

    Nov 24, 2020
AceShowbiz – Florida Georgia Line have made country music history by becoming the first artists in the genre to land diamond certifications for two separate singles.
Bandmates Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard celebrated the double diamond achievement on Friday, November 20 after learning their 2012 breakout hit “Cruise” and their 2017 Bebe Rexha collaboration, “Meant to Be”, had set a new record for the Recording Industry Association of America, which was founded in 1952.
Only 43 songs in RIAA history have been awarded the certification, which recognises releases with 10 million or more sales, while “Meant to Be” is only the sixth song to hit the mega milestone in the past four years.

Sharing their joy at the news online, Kelley said, “Thank you guys for the recognition and this ride has been a dream come true. It’s pretty crazy hearing the numbers. It’s pretty wild to think about it in that time span…”.
“It is surreal and it is nice to take a second to let that sink in, and honestly we’re so thankful,” Hubbard added, according to The Boot. “It’s awesome to know it’s connecting. When I hear those numbers, that’s what I hear, and I just think that’s something that we can all be proud of…”.
Florida Georgia Line will be hoping to replicate the success of their previous releases as they move into Hollywood – the pair recently signed on to help produce a feature-length country movie musical, for which the artists will also write some original songs.

Florida Georgia Line Team Up With Monarch Media to Make Original Country Musical Movie

    Instagram

Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley have also expressed their excitement to be joining forces with their frequent music video director TK McKamy to produce the new movie.

    Nov 21, 2020
AceShowbiz – Florida Georgia Line are heading to Hollywood to work on a feature-length country musical.
Bandmates Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley are joining forces with their frequent music video director TK McKamy to produce the new movie, which will feature original songs penned by the “Cruise” hitmakers, as well as covers of country music classics.
They have also been collaborating with Monarch Media studio officials Steve Barnett and Alan Powell to develop the storyline, although details have yet to be revealed.
According to Deadline, McKamy is considering taking charge of the film, which would mark his big screen directorial debut.
“We are so excited to bring a wholly original country musical to the big screen for the very first time,” Hubbard and Kelley share in a joint statement.

“In TK McKamy and the team at Monarch Media, we’ve found the perfect partners that will help us bring the emotion and storytelling of country music to the movies for the most passionate music fans in the world to enjoy.”
Powell adds, “There is a feeling that only a great country song can give you. It can make you smile bigger or cry harder than any other genre and frankly, our goal is to create a film that captures those feelings and puts them on screen in a way that’s never been done before.”
“We believe Florida Georgia Line is the best partner to do that and are thrilled to work with them on this project.”
The movie news will be welcomed by fans after Hubbard shut down rumours suggesting the pair was heading for a split. He briefly unfollowed Kelley on social media after disagreeing with the Republican supporter’s politics.
“It wasn’t a big deal… We’re on great terms,” Hubbard told SiriusXM’s “Exit 209 with Storme Warren” show this week (ends November 20). “We’re feeling stronger than ever. We’re loving and supporting each other… and excited for the future.”

Tyler Hubbard Denies Florida Georgia Line Split Rumors Despite Unfollowing Bandmate

    WENN

The country music star insists he and bandmate Brian Kelley are not breaking up although they unfollowed each other amid election due to different political views.

    Nov 20, 2020
AceShowbiz – Florida Georgia Line star Tyler Hubbard has shot down reports of a break-up after unfollowing his bandmate on social media, insisting he just needed a break from his politics.
Democrat Hubbard shut down Republican Brian Kelley for a few days around the general election as the duo pulled out of an appearance at the Country Music Academy Awards due to a COVID-related health scare.
The two stories combined to prompt fans and critics alike to suggest FGL were done, but Hubbard insists there’s nothing further from the truth.

“I unfollowed BK for a few days… in the middle of this election…,” the singer told SiriusXM’s Exit 209 with Storme Warren show. “I even called him and told him. I said, ‘Hey buddy, I love you. And I love you a lot more in real life than on your (Instagram) Stories right now. So that’s why I’m unfollowing you. Nothing personal. I still love you. You’re still my brother.’ ”
“I just didn’t want to see it every time I opened Instagram. And so it wasn’t a big deal… We’re on great terms. We’re feeling stronger than ever. We’re loving and supporting each other through even all the chapters that we’re in now and excited for the future.”
Tyler also revealed he and his bandmate have tried therapy to sort out their issues over the years, adding, “We have been on a 10-year relationship, a 10-year partnership, a 10-year commitment to each other. And yes, there have been hard times. It’s not all sugar coated. And so the truth is, and I think this is important to talk about, me and BK have done work. We went to therapy. We’ve sat with each other and wanted to kill each other at times. But by the end of it, we were hugging it out.”
“We’re brothers and that’s what brothers do. Brothers don’t always get along… We know the importance of our relationship and how much love we have for each other. So we have worked over the years, we’ve worked to become stronger and stronger and stronger, and that’s even through the hard times. It’s made us stronger as friends and brothers and partners.”

Florida Georgia Line Excited to Get Back on Tour After Signing Long-Term Deal With Live Nation

    WENN/Judy Eddy

Amid false rumors of split, Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley issue a statement that the two of them miss the live energy and connection they have with fans when they hit the stage.

    Nov 17, 2020
AceShowbiz – Florida Georgia Line have signed a long-term touring deal with bosses at Live Nation.
The ticket vender and venue operator will be the duo’s exclusive promoter in the U.S. as part of a multi-year deal, which drops amid false rumours of a band split.
“This past year has given us a chance to spend more time writing, producing, and being creative, but we are itching to get back on the road,” said members Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley in a statement. “We miss our fans, and the live energy and connection we have with them when we hit the stage.”
“Our Live Nation family has been a great partner in the past, and we’re excited to be teaming up like this together. Getting back on tour and being able to share our new music can’t come soon enough!”

The news comes after Hubbard was forced to pull out of a planned performance at the Country Music Association Awards earlier this month after he tested positive for the coronavirus. “Got the Rona (sic),” he wrote beside a selfie at the time. “Asymptomatic. Quarantining on bus. Miss my family. Writing songs. Thankful.”
That then led to stories suggesting the bandmates had fallen out over their opposing political beliefs, after Tyler unfollowed his bandmate Brian on Instagram. “Does that mean FGL will be no more?” one Twitter user wondered, while another called the unfollowing “really weird” considering the duo just released their holiday tune, “Lit This Year”, just one week prior.
The pair notably had conflicting views during the U.S. election, with Tyler speaking out against President Donald Trump and Brian slamming Joe Biden supporters for their post-election celebrations, following his victory.

Florida Georgia Line Call Off CMA Awards Performance After Tyler Hubbard Tests Positive for Covid-19

    WENN

The ‘Dig Your Roots’ duo join fellow country musician Lee Brice to pull out of their scheduled performance at the CMA Awards after one of the members contracted coronavirus.

    Nov 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – Florida Georgia Line star Tyler Hubbard has become the latest performer to bow out of the upcoming Country Music Association Awards after testing positive for COVID-19.
Shortly after fellow singer Lee Brice pulled out of Wednesday’s (11Nov20) ceremony, Hubbard took to Instagram on Monday to reveal that he, too, had been diagnosed with the coronavirus, although he was feeling fine.
“Got the Rona (sic),” he wrote beside a selfie. “Asymptomatic. Quarantining on bus. Miss my family. Writing songs. Thankful.”
He shared the news hours after hinting about his ailment as he posted a photo of his tour bus outside his home.

“Any ideas why I would have my tour bus parked in the drive way?” he asked fans.
As a result of Hubbard’s diagnosis, he and bandmate Brian Kelley will no longer be performing at the annual prizegiving in Nashville, Tennessee.
Ironically, Kelley had just called for traditional concerts to be allowed to resume amid the global health crisis, after seemingly questioning why crowds of people were allowed to celebrate U.S. President-elect Joe Biden’s election victory on Saturday, but music fans weren’t able to gather for live shows.
Alongside footage of Democrats partying in the streets outside the White House over the weekend, Kelley wrote on his Instagram Story timeline, “Time to go back to work AMERICA. Booking shows ASAP (as soon as possible).”
His sentiments were shared by fellow country music singer Morgan Wallen, who branded the celebrations hypocritical in his own social media post. “Time to start booking shows,” he posted alongside the same clip. “The hypocrisy is unreal.”

Here's Why Carrie Underwood Has to Decline Florida Georgia Line's Offer to Collaborate

    WENN

During an appearance on the CMT Hot 20 Countdown chart show, Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley admit to have approached the ‘Cry Pretty’ hitmaker to do a song together.
    May 2, 2020
AceShowbiz – Carrie Underwood had to pass on a collaboration with Florida Georgia Line because her schedule was already full when the duo first invited her into the recording studio.
Bandmates Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley haven’t been shy about their desire to work with the country superstar, and even sent out a public appeal via social media in February.
“Whether you know it or not, we are huge fans of you and we have always wanted to do a song with you,” they posted on Twitter.
Referring to a track they had created with singer/songwriter Julia Michaels, the “Cruise” hitmakers continued, “We’d really love for Carrie Underwood to hear this song. We think it would be a massive collaboration. We’d love to send it to you.”
The pair went on to preview the tune, in the hopes Carrie would be shown the Twitter plea, explaining, “We don’t have your email or your phone number, so we’re gonna just play a little.”
Carrie didn’t publicly respond at the time, but Hubbard and Kelley have since revealed she did reach out about the track.
“We got turned down on that one,” Hubbard explained during a recent appearance on the CMT Hot 20 Countdown chart show.
“You don’t win ’em all. I guess she didn’t love it as much as we did, but that’s alright,” he joked.

Hubbard then shared the real reason behind the failed collaboration request: “I think she said it was amazing and she’d love to, but it was right around her book tour release and so she was super busy and didn’t really have time,” he recalled. “But who knows, who knows where it will go. Now it’s just open game.”
Carrie launched her self-help book, “Find Your Path: Honor Your Body, Fuel Your Soul, and Get Strong with the Fit52 Life”, in early March.

    WENN/Judy Eddy

    Feb 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – Country superstars Florida Georgia Line are entering a new phase in their careers by cutting ties with their longtime managers.
The “Cruise” hitmakers signed to Big Loud Management nine years ago, before finding fame, but now they are parting ways.
