    Gerard Butler's 'The Plane' Back on Track After Being Dropped Due to Insurance Issues

    The upcoming action movie about a hijacked plane has been picked up again after it was previously abandoned by studio bosses because of Covid-19 related insurance problems.

    AceShowbiz – Gerard Butler’s new action film “The Plane” is off the ground again after it was dropped by Lionsgate studio bosses earlier this week (beg09Nov20)
    Solstice Studios executives have acquired worldwide rights to the thriller, which is now set for take-off on 28 June, 2021, following a shoot in Malaysia.
    Lionsgate chiefs exited the film due to COVID-related insurance issues, prompting Butler to move on to another project, “Kandahar”, which is currently shooting in the United Arab Emirates.
    “The Plane” will shoot when Gerard has completed his new film.

    In the movie, Butler will portray a pilot forced to land his commercial plane in a war zone and fight off the efforts of feuding militias keen to take him and his passengers hostage.
    The good news came after the filming of his other new movie “Cop Shop” was halted due to Covid-19 outbreak among the crew members. They had only been shooting for days in Georgia when three people tested positive for coronavirus.
    Meanwhile, another of his new films “Greenland” called off the original theatrical release after being delayed several times because of the ongoing pandemic. It is now expected to go straight to video on demand in the United States this coming December.
    Gerard Butler is also tapped for “Night Has Fallen”. He previously appeared in “Olympus Has Fallen” (2013), “London Has Fallen” (2016), and “Angel Has Fallen” (2019) – the combined global box office takings of which is more than $520 million (£389 million).

      The ‘300’ actor has officially been announced to reprise his role as Secret Service agent Mike Banning in the upcoming fourth ‘Has Fallen’ action movie franchise.

      AceShowbiz – Gerard Butler will reprise his role as Mike Banning for a fourth franchise film – “Night Has Fallen”.
      The 50-year-old actor has reportedly signed on the dotted line to appear as the former Army Ranger turned Secret Service agent in the next instalment in the “Has Fallen” franchise, after previously appearing in “Olympus Has Fallen” (2013), “London Has Fallen” (2016), and “Angel Has Fallen” (2019) – the combined global box office takings of which is more than $520 million (£389 million).
      According to Deadline, Ric Roman Waugh will direct the upcoming sequel, with Robert Kamen writing the script and Butler also in line to produce.

      The film will start shooting at Millennium Media’s Nu Boyana Studios in Bulgaria in the near future, Deadline added.

      Gerard Butler Working on 'Fantastic Idea' for 'Angel Has Fallen' Sequel

      The Mike Banning depicter has already planned a fourth installment of his ‘Fallen’ action movie franchise only a year after the third film was released in 2019.

      AceShowbiz – Gerard Butler already has a “fantastic” plot in mind for the fourth instalment in his “Fallen” action movie franchise.
      The 50-year-old actor has played U.S. Secret Service agent Mike Banning three times on screen, in “Olympus Has Fallen”, “London Has Fallen”, and “Angel Has Fallen”, to date.
      Now he thinks the time is right for another film after last year’s 2019 third in the series.
      He tells Entertainment Weekly, “I think with everything going on, we need him (his character, Mike). He needs to come back. Yeah, I think you will be seeing another. We’re toying away with another really fantastic idea that we’re working on at the moment that obviously we can’t say too much about.”
      In the first film in 2013, Banning was trapped inside the White House as he tried to save America’s President from a kidnapping, before he saved world leaders from assassination in London in the follow-up, and cleared his name after being framed in “Angel Has Fallen”.
      Butler is also planning a sequel to his 2018 heist film “Den of Thieves” and is already excited about the script from director Christian Gudegast.
      “It’s a fun ride, spreading across North America into Europe and the diamond district of Marseilles (France),” he says of plans for the film. “It’s very cool and has a more European vibe this time.”
