‘The Suicide Squad’ helmer reveals on Twitter his reaction after learning that the Academy Awards-winning filmmaker picks his Marvel film as Spielberg’s favorite superhero movie.

    Apr 16, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Having his work praised by millions of fans may mean a lot of James Gunn, but having a veteran filmmaker liking his movie is apparently extra special for him. The “Super” helmer has revealed his emotional reaction upon learning that Steven Spielberg picked his “Guardians of the Galaxy” as his favorite superhero movie.

Gunn recently responded to a fan’s question on Twitter which read, “@JamesGunn hey, I was wondering what went through your mind when you found out that Steven Spielberg listed Guardians of The Galaxy as one of his top 20 favorite movies of all time. How did you react?”

In his reply, the 54-year-old admitted he “cried a little” because he’s a massive fan of Spielberg’s works, though he’s not sure if the list that the fan mentioned is real. “I don’t know if that list going around is real. I do know that Spielberg has said his favorite superhero movie is Guardians,” Gunn wrote back.

He went on detailing, “I was in the editing room with @FredRaskin when I heard & I maybe kinda cried a little.” Returning the favor to the 74-year-old awards-winning filmmaker, he added, “I’m making movies because of Jaws & Raiders.”

James Gunn revealed his reaction to Steven Spielberg naming ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ his favorite superhero movie.

The fan was referring to the list which recently made its rounds on the web, naming Spielberg’s supposedly 20 favorite movies of all time. Gunn’s “GOTG” (2014) came at No. 5, just behind “A Guy Named Joe” (1943) and right above 1953’s “War of the Worlds”. Also on the list as such acclaimed works as “The Godfather”, “Citizen Kane” and “Psycho”.

While the validity of the list has not been confirmed, Spielberg has in the past declared his love for Gunn’s superhero movie. In an interview with Omelete in 2016, the “Lincoln” helmer gushed about the film, “When it ended, I left the cinema with the feeling that I had just experienced something new, free of cynicism and without concern for being gritty when necessary.”

    Dec 15, 2020
AceShowbiz – Marvel is affirming its commitment to inclusivity by adding Star-Lord to a list of its LGBTQ+ characters. The latest issue of the “Guardians of the Galaxy” comic reveals that the space adventurer is bisexual.
In an adventure titled “I Shall Make You a Star-Lord”, “Guardians of the Galaxy #9” finds Peter Quills being stuck on a planet called Morinus where he befriends two humanoids, the female Aradia and the male Mors. He eventually enters into a relationship with both around the 12-year mark
In one page of the issue written by Al Ewin, Peter says to the pair of his time on the planet, “It’s been over a decade. Time to accept the truth…Morinus is my home. You’re my home.” The trio is seen entering the “Eighth House”, which is the House of Death and Rebirth, where they get into a bath together.

Peter Quill a.k.a. Star-Lord is portrayed by Chris Pratt in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films. While it’s unknown if the character’s bisexuality will be addressed in the movie, the actor faces mockery on social media as many brought up his alleged stance on LGBTQ+.
Imagining the “Jurassic World” actor’s reaction to the news, one tweeted, “How long until the headline ‘Chris Pratt exits role as Star Lord citing ‘creative differences’ ‘ drops?” Another blasted the 41-year-old hunk, “Marvel confirming Star Lord is bisexual is just *chefs kiss* f**k you Chris Pratt.”
“i need a video of chris pratt discovering that star lord is bisexual,” a third person was curious, while someone else claimed, “So apparently Star lord is Bisexual. He is also portrayed by Chris Pratt who goes to an Anti-LGBTQ church. God’s timing is always right.”
Pratt is accused of being homophobic after a photo of him visiting an alleged anti-LGBTQ church surfaced. Earlier this year, he was slammed for not participating in Joe Biden’s Presidential fundraiser which featured some of his “Avengers” castmates, though many of his co-stars later came to his defense.

Amanda Seyfried Turned Down 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Because She Thought the Movie Would Tank

    WENN

The ‘Mamma Mia!’ actress admits she was very skeptical when she was offered to portray Gamora in the James Gunn-directed superhero movie about a talking tree and raccoon.

    Dec 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – Amanda Seyfried passed on the role of Gamora in “Guardians of the Galaxy” because she didn’t want to be a part of the first big Marvel flop.
The “Mamma Mia!” star felt sure the film would bomb even though James Gunn’s script was “great”, and now admits she was “very wrong.”
“I didn’t want to be part of the first Marvel movie that bombed,” the actress tells The Hollywood Reporter’s “Awards Chatter” podcast. “I said, ‘Who wants to see a movie about a talking tree and a raccoon…?’ I was very wrong.”
The film went on to make over $770 million (£576 million) at the global box office.

“The script was great; it was all based in not wanting to be ‘that guy,’ ” Amanda adds, “because if you are the star of a giant movie like that, and it bombs, Hollywood does not forgive you. I’ve seen that happen to people and it was a giant, giant fear and I thought, ‘Is it worth it?’ ”
The role eventually went to Zoe Saldana.
In the comic book movie, she was joined by Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Vin Diesel as Groot, and Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon.
After exploring the galaxy in two standalone movies, the Marvel ragtag team of misfits eventually joined The Avengers in “Avengers: Infinity War” and then returned for “Avengers: Endgame”. Now a third “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie is currently in development as part of the Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
