  • Henry Cavill's Fans Campaign for His Return as Superman

    Warner Bros. Pictures

#HenryCavillSuperman is trending on social media as people demand a ‘Man of Steel’ sequel with the British actor returning to reprise his role as Lois Clark.
    Sep 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – While Henry Cavill has declared that he hasn’t hung his Superman cape just yet, a new Man of Steel movie has not been greenlit following the lukewarm response to “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”. But the actor’s loyal fans have not given up their hope to see the 37-year-old hunk back as the Krypton-born superhero and have launched a social media campaign demanding a “Man of Steel” sequel.
It’s unclear who started it, but people have been tweeting using the hashtag “#HenryCavillSuperman”, making it trending on social media on Monday, September 7. “What the world needs now is hope #HenryCavillSuperman,” one person wrote.
Believing that Cavill is the perfect actor for the role, another claimed, “There’s no reason not to make a sequel to Man of Steel. The perfect cast has already been established. Get a screenwriter and filmmaker passionate about building on what we already have and let’s fly!#HenryCavillSuperman.”
“Are we ever gonna stop asking for another Superman solo movie?? #HenryCavillSuperman,” a third person rhetorically asked. A fourth one demanded, “Give my man What. He. Deserves. give us man of steel 2 #HenryCavillSuperman.”
Someone argued why Cavill deserves another chance to play Kal-El, “I honestly think Henry Cavill is the perfect Superman actor. His physique, looks, enthusiasm, subtlety and knowledge and love for the character are all things that make him born for that role. He’s been great so far, I’d love to see what more he can bring. #HenryCavillSuperman.”
Another agreed, writing, “People are annoyed that Henry Cavill doesn’t have another Superman solo film in the works. While I wasn’t a big fan of Man of Steel, I think most people would agree that Cavill is great as Supes. He just needs to get a screenplay this time around! #HenryCavillSuperman.”
Warner Bros. has not responded to fans’ demand for a new Man of Steel movie starring Cavill. While Batman is getting a reboot with Robert Pattinson taking over the role from Ben Affleck, “The Witcher” star said back in 2019 that he has not parted ways with his superhero character. “The cape is still in the closet,” the “Justice League” actor said. “It’s still mine. I’m not going to sit quietly in the dark as all the stuff is going on. I’ve not given up the role.”
“There’s a lot I have to give for Superman yet. A lot of storytelling to do,” he insisted. “A lot of real, true depths to the honesty of the character I want to get into. I want to reflect the comic books. That’s important to me. There’s a lot of justice to be done for Superman. The status is: You’ll see.”
In May of this year, there were reports that Cavill would return as Superman, though not in a “standalone film.” He was reportedly in talks to make a cameo in one of DC’s upcoming films, with Deadline noting that “Shazam! Fury of the Gods”, “Black Adam”, “Aquaman 2”, “Wonder Woman 1984” and a new “Suicide Squad” movie among Warner Bros.’ upcoming releases.

The show was expected to resume filming on Monday (17Aug20), as indicated in a tweet from the show’s official Twitter account last month, and Stephen Surjik, who directed two episodes of the first season, told fans on Wednesday the show is already up and running again.
He captioned a post of a camera ready to film, “It’s T minus 3 min to ignition and lift off for our second run at Witcher S2. Everyone is being cautious but spirits are high. You’re looking out new covid communication system (sic), reducing close contact among crew.”

  • Henry Cavill Admits to Googling About Superman Rumors, Would Love to Reprise His Role

    Warner Bros. Pictures

The ‘Man of Steel’ actor reveals that he likes to go on the internet to see what fans have to say about his possible return as the DC superhero in a new movie.
    Jul 5, 2020
AceShowbiz – Henry Cavill can’t keep up with the Internet speculation about his alleged return to the role of Superman because the rumours “get wilder and wilder.”
The 37 year old, who last played the Man of Steel in 2017’s “Justice League”, likes to check in online to see what fans have to say about his chances of pulling on the tights and cape again – and sometimes even he can’t believe what he’s reading.
“They (posts) get wilder and wilder by the day,” he marvels on a new episode of Variety and iHeart podcast “The Big Ticket”. “The amount of speculation, the stuff I read on the Internet, is extraordinary and sometimes frustrating. It’s when you see people stating stuff as fact. Like, ‘No, that’s not the case. That hasn’t happened, and that conversation isn’t happening.”
“But the important thing is that people are excited about it, and I think it’s important to be excited about a character like Superman. Superman is a fantastic character. If people are chatting about it, and even if they’re making stuff up, it’s okay, because that means they want to see the character again.”
Like the fans, Henry would like to see himself as Superman once more. “I would absolutely love to play the character again,” he adds, admitting sometimes he’s tempted to add his own posts to the online speculation about the superhero’s next film or TV appearance.
“I’m not going to lie, I’ve been very tempted (to comment), but there’s something about that, that feels deeply immoral,” he admits. “When it’s about Superman, and if I’m representing Superman, it just feels like the wrong thing to do.”

  • Henry Cavill Credits His Superman Role for Teaching Him a Lot About Himself

    Warner Bros.

Amid reports suggesting he’s in talks for a new ‘Man of Steel’ film, the star of ‘The Witcher’ expresses his hope to be able to play more of the superhero character in years to come.
    Jun 26, 2020
AceShowbiz – Henry Cavill is hoping to hit new heights as Superman amid reports suggesting he’s in talks for a new “Man of Steel” film.
The 37-year-old Brit has played the superhero in three movies and he wants more.
“I’ve always been a fan of Superman,” he told Variety. “With a character like that, you carry the mantle with you off set. And it becomes part of your public representation. When you meet children, children don’t necessarily see me as Henry Cavill, but they might see Superman, and there’s a responsibility which comes with that.”
“Because it’s such a wonderful character, it’s actually a responsibility I’m happy to have, and I hope that I get to play more of Superman in years to come.”
“My life has changed dramatically because of it and it has given me plenty of opportunity for roles, and yeah, it’s been one of those characters which changed the entire course of my career. I’m incredibly grateful for it, and it’s also taught me a lot about myself.”
“He’s (Superman) so good, he’s so kind, and when you start to compare yourself to him, because you’re playing him, you start to really look inwards. You say, ‘Am I a good person? Can I be a good enough person to play Superman?’ And if you ever hear a whisper in there which is like, ‘Hmm, hold on a second. Maybe not,’ then you adjust it, and you make sure you are a better person. I think that’s all we can do in life.”

Henry Cavill Eyeing to Make Return as Superman in New DC Film

    Warner Bros.

Last seen as Clark Kent in 2017’s ‘Justice League’, the ‘Man of Steel’ actor has previously stated that he has not given up his superhero role, insisting there is still a lot of storytelling to do.
    May 29, 2020
AceShowbiz – Henry Cavill is reportedly in talks to reprise his role as Superman in a new film based on the DC Comic books.
Sources confirmed to Variety the “Man of Steel” actor, whose most recent outing as Clark Kent came in 2017’s “Justice League”, is in talks to make an unexpected return as America’s beloved superhero.
Insiders also told Deadline.com the project will not be a “standalone film”, with Warner Bros’ chiefs having several DC movies at various stages of production – Matt Reeves’ “The Batman”, which began shooting before the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as “Shazam! 2”, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s “Black Adam” and “Aquaman 2”. “Wonder Woman 1984” and a new “Suicide Squad” movie are also in post-production awaiting release.
“Man of Steel” director Zack Snyder recently announced he would release the long-rumoured “Snyder Cut of Justice League” for HBO Max, which could require reshoots, but insiders told Variety, Cavill’s talks relate to a cameo in one of DC’s upcoming films.
In an interview with Mens’ Health magazine late last year (19), Cavill said he had not given up the role, despite the apparent shelving of plans for a continuing DC Extended Universe in favour of standalone franchises.
“The cape is still in the closet,” the star of “The Witcher” said. “It’s still mine. I’m not going to sit quietly in the dark as all the stuff is going on. I’ve not given up the role.”
“There’s a lot I have to give for Superman yet. A lot of storytelling to do. A lot of real, true depths to the honesty of the character I want to get into. I want to reflect the comic books. That’s important to me. There’s a lot of justice to be done for Superman. The status is: You’ll see.”

Henry Cavill May Debut as New Wolverine in 'Captain Marvel 2'

    WENN/Avalon

The ‘Man of Steel’ actor is rumored to play the new incarnation of the X-Men character and team up with Brie Larson’s superhero character in the upcoming Marvel movie.
    Feb 29, 2020
AceShowbiz – Henry Cavill may trade his Superman cape for adamantium claws. The British actor, who has played the Last Son of Krypton since 2013’s “Man of Steel”, is said to portray Wolverine and make his debut in “Captain Marvel 2”.
The rumor first originated from YouTube channel The Quartering. And while the words of Cavill playing the X-Men character may sound pretty outlandish, Wolverine and Captain Marvel crossover is already happening in the comics.
The two characters’ big screen crossover is also made possible now following 20th Century Fox’s acquisition by Disney in 2019. The Mouse House has begun distributing Marvel movies in 2010 since its acquisition of Marvel Entertainment in 2009.
Neither Marvel nor Cavill has responded to the rumor of him possibly appearing in the “Captain Marvel” sequel, but this is not the first time he’s reported to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Back in August 2019, there’s report that he’s being recruited by the studio for a future film project.
Should this be happen, Cavill will make a leap from the DC Extended Universe to its biggest rival, MCU. The 36-year-old hunk gained prominence and international recognition for portraying Superman in “Man of Steel”. He reprised the role in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” (2016) and “Justice League” (2017).
The new Batman standalone movie, however, has been in limbo following the lukewarm reception of “Justice League”, prompting speculation that Cavill might have hung up his Superman cape. However, in a 2019 interview with Men’s Health magazine, he insisted, “I’ve not given up the role. There’s a lot I have to give for Superman yet.”
Wolverine itself was widely popularized on the big screen by Hugh Jackman, who made his debut as the character in 2000’s “X-Men”. He made his final appearance as the clawed-mutant in 2017’s “Logan”.
“Captain Marvel 2”, which has Brie Larson attached to reprise her role as Carol Danvers and her alter ego, is expected to arrive in 2022.
